The map room of Spawnville is coming along quite fine, unfortunately it's a bit costly to make each map (4 iron each). Hopefully the whole wall of the surrounding lands will be mapped out.
The map may not be fully updated since framed maps don't update after they're placed. If you build somewhere there that's currently wilderness, take the map down go to your location and "look" at the map and that ought to update it. Then simply return it to the frame.

Do something similar to what I did the other day when I needed to kill a fuckton of time and get something done:
Dig a several kilometer tunnel to one of the major towns outside spawnville and build a subway, even if it means using pigs to travel down it. (What you should do, not what I did. I dug a 2 km long tunnel to my house from spawn.)
(Also, make it 3x3 and use entirely stone tools for the project for max time killing ability.
Well since I have no iron, stone tools would be the way to go... :v:

Yeah, my framerate drops if I get too close to it, usually it would be over 60 but then drop to 16 when I go near the rainbow beacon.

I almost fell to my death as the water falling dragged me to the center, into a free fall.
It's been sealed now with dirt, but the hole is still beneath it, next to the cow farm across the river from Zesty's factory.

There was one just right out of spawn that I got Terry to fill up
I can confirm that the hole is hella deadly. Nearly drowned on my first day due to that hole.
Logged on for a little bit, made my way to the library for now and safely removed of 2 creepers by leading them into the water and detonating them. Anyone got some spare tools/armor I could borrow to get started?
