Only the best for MNR, I have some coupons and I actually only pay $24 a month.
Either way for now it's world corruption, tech support is trying some script that should fix it. If not I guess i'm spending all night on MCedit.
is the server still currently down?
Existence is suffering, Still been hard at work trying stuff for the past +2 hours. We have one last ditch hope to recover the current world, if not we'll have to go the backups.

Fingers crossed this works then. :frown:
UPDATE:
Server is working, it was a total map corruption issue but it got figured out. With that in mind, we lost an "acceptable" amount of chunks. Spawnville looks fine, we lost Breakfast Buddies' castle is gone, the physical chunk of the spawnpoint is also gone.
Like always I'll try to compensate people if they lost anything Significant.
I'm super sorry for this shit guys, I know I've apologized like 5 times the past 3 days, truly doing everything that is physically possible (and some things that are not) to keep the server up.
Dynmap: DISABLED
Stables: DISABLED
I'm going to reactivate them slowly.
I have a ton of shit I actually had to do today before this, so I'll try to keep an eye from a distance.

Jesus fucking christ that's robbery. I pay $4 a month for 4 cores, 4 GiB RAM, 40 GiB RAID 10 SSD, and root on a full VPS.
Because I've gathered an excess of diamonds, I've created a small series of (deadly) puzzles and put some at the end of it as a prize. In my personal opinion, the puzzles are fair, fun, and offer a completely reasonable challenge.

Hey dude, remember when I murdered you? Just wanted to let you know you've gotten your revenge.
Went on to finally go get my stuff from my grave, noticed my whole house was gone from the chunk errors, the only things of importance that were lost were my dogs and the bed. R.I.P. Chack, Rood Beetch, and Chack Jr. Also before i made it to my grave skeletons on skeleton horses spawned and I got raped. R.I.P. unless you want to respawn me, I don't care either way.
Sorry familia about the house, does sound like you died in a legit manner. I know it says for some people you are banned for 720 minutes, that is fixed. You can wait it out till Friday, or I'll just refresh the deathban.
I hadn't grabbed anything yet so it's fine, I hadn't actually put a chest in my house yet so all of my items were on me and should be in my grave chest. It's all good, I can wait.
Looks like I'm gonna find who has been messing around, more of my stuff has been messed with
Server has been stopped to take care of some plugin settings!
Back up
Although Terry's efforts to have a housing for new players to stop in and grab armor have definitely increased the survival chances of beginners, I feel that as a community we can do much, much better in supplying people.
Over the weeks, people have stockpiled diamonds upon diamonds with their Fortune picks, setting them aside in large, copious amounts-- and for what? We've brewed so many potions yet hidden them away in the depths of chests. New players, especially players who don't have convenient and easy access to obtaining materials that older, stronger players could obtain with relative ease aren't benefiting from that at all.
Some players want a hardcore survivalist feel of living off the land and wanting their own efforts to come to fruition, death awaiting or strong bounty lying at the end, but other players... they would appreciate if the tools donated weren't in such shoddy conditions all the time. They would appreciate being able to have a potion to rely on if they get in over their head. I understand greatly that many players work to where they stand now, but charity can go a long way-- especially if that means giving worth to another player's life.
A man's only strength is his ability to adapt to the environment in any way possible. To me, players who have to deal with the scraps found by others in mediocre donation chests full of armor, tools, and weapons in disarray has made me push forth a new, potentially follow-able creed for the donation chests at spawn.
When you're donating tools and armor sets to the Bed and Breakfast, please make sure that your donated items are near peak quality. You can combine picks and other various tools in your crafting section to enhance their durability. This not only saves space in the donation chests for more tolerable items, but saves people from having to pick apart the (usually) terrible contents of the chests. You don't have to donate handmade diamond armor, but I'm sure that everyone has plentiful stockpiles of iron that are only used mainly for anvils! Your iron could be placed in grateful hands, and it could mean the difference between life and death for them.
As someone who benefited from some of the armor provided there, I'll try and drop off some chest p. / pants next time I'm on.
-
If I can get more iron, I'll be donating some amor / tools soon.
I think it would probably better to just pitch in diamonds to make a better beacon or something and donate iron instead. It's got more uses and it's not as much of a waste if the person then immediately dies after getting a free set of diamond armor and tools.
Besides, people were complaining about the players who have full enchanted diamond armor sets as it takes a lot of the risk out of the game. It seems kind of counter-productive to just hand out free diamond armor upon spawning.
Instead of armor, make diamond tools. They don't immediately protect you and can greatly help players gather a lot of their first resources.
Also give away free enchantment tables too maybe?
I'm against giving end-game tools and items to new spawns because it takes some of the charm away. Once you have a full set of diamond tools and such there's nothing else to really strive for except more diamonds.
Iron tools with decent durability go a long way for a new spawn, sometimes I go down to the donation chest and repair the items myself. No sense filling the chests with multiple iron swords two steps away from being destroyed when you can combine them together.
Anybody that uses an infinity bow should dump their surplus arrows into the chest as well, we don't need more than 1 arrow on us at a time.
If the diamond tools were unechanted it's not that great, especially if you only have one of each tool. But I agree that having a load of diamond equipment straight from the start is a tad OP, even at that.
I can't lockette my doors, it just turns in to a blank sign.
I'm shutting the server down for like an hour, I'm going to see if I can edit some of the corrupted chunks.
Also going with the discussion, I personally disagree on giving diamond anything. If you don't die, then there is no point to MNR. You HAVE to die, that's like the thing, and usually you'll die in your first week, it's like a rite of passage. Honestly, I think iron anything is sometimes too much, this is supposed to be hard and unrelenting.
I would agree with Terry. I regret taking some of the stuff from start chest as it made my game far more easier. But of course it's good to have start items, they defenetly should not be diamonds. Only start stuff like some food, building blocks, maybe tools.
Alright server is up and maybe corruption free, We'll see.
If anyone has any photoshop skills and wants to make a new icon for the server that'd be neat, the one I made sucks.
[editline]11th August 2016[/editline]
Wurunduk just gave us a new icon, looks fantastic, check it out.
Regarding the subject of donations, my reference to diamonds is more on the level to those currently assuming grand projects and those who want to. Though, I think they'd appreciate common building resources more.
I won't lie when I say that I have this distinct bias against giant power and wealth gaps between players. If anything, I want other players to learn the tools to survive without having to suffer death right off the bat. If that goes against the spirit of the server, so be it... but if someone doesn't want help, it's a simple "no," isn't it?

I'm actually against giving new players starting supplies in general. Doesn't sound very no-relax to me when the most critical needs of your first day are instantly met.

If a player is still learning how to survive in Minecraft, is immediately jumping into hardcore mode a smart idea?

when it comes down to it, it's just an opinion that you can choose to completely ignore. Surviving without assistance is just as acceptable as asking for help. In fact, it doesn't sound very no-relaxy to me if people instantly log when they trip a skeleton horse trap and ask people for help over the dynmap, but people still do it and people still help them.

I loved shit like this back in the day, I remember alot of us died trying to save each other in this massive abandoned mineshaft that was connected high up in a long ravine behind Zesty's Citadel/
Good times, RIP.

Vanilla MC isn't really hard or unrelenting. Why not take advantage of command blocks to increase the difficulty without requiring mods or plugins? If your purpose is keeping things purely vanilla at least, it's a relatively legitimate workaround without needing plugins, though you do get better performance with plugins.
Did someone actually win the diamond game?
