Regarding the starting gear debacle : altough it makes the game less fun, spawnville being where it is does not help much either
Save a few skele traps here and there it's pretty much safe & the only place where you want to be
Regarding safety and good gear and spawnville being well lit/mob free - Minecraft isn't meant to be [I]hard.[/I] Maybe slightly challenging, but at the end of the day it's not 7 Days to Die.
Most deaths in this game are more due to carelessness or accidents, not being overwhelmed by bad mobs or dying of hunger/lack of resources.
Thus, having good or better equipment doesn't necessarily mean the game isn't "hard" anymore, because it's never meant to be like that anyway. Having god-tier pickaxe won't save you from lava pouring out of the hole you just dumbly dug above yourself and even feather fall 4 won't save you from falling off the tower you built on a cliff side.

the way I had it planned was to hide several copies of everything across the world, so that if the world somehow got corrupted again and Terry was unable to save it, there'd still be a chance that the history and records would still be somewhere in the world.
If I get permission and the room in the library to do it, then yeah, I'll get to work on it.

I don't need anything compensated since its just cobble and oak lost for me, just wanted to check if chunk corruption is the reason
"Acceptable" is a pretty not so great word for it; maybe if all you're looking at is spawn. I lost a pretty massive amount of work, my entire temple structure as well as every chest I had, to whatever things, whether controllable or not, that led to map corruption. Just died within 5 minutes of joining since I immediately went to see the damage, but needless to say I don't think I'll be playing any time soon. Just simply lost too much work, progress, items, and time that I can't place an arbitrary value on, and anyone who has seen that temple pre-corruption can attest to how much was lost. Literally all traces of my existence on the server.
I'll wait for a new map in the distant future, but until then, I can't really be assed to remake about a month and a half's worth of progress while other players remain unaffected. The dichotomy of two players where one is at endgame with significant progress on their build, and another with a significant chunk (ha) of work completely gone, including items, despite doing the same amount of work, just doesn't seem like a big load of fun considering the focus of MNR. I'm salty, though not necessarily blaming anybody, but it does definitely detract from any desire and motivation to play.
I guess no one was online to tell you, I have your temple, I just need time to paste it back in. Which is surprisingly annoying to do, and I'll unban you since I assume you spawned in what you thought was a protected area.
Were your chests in the temple?
99% of people who lost buildings I have backups of them, I pasted in Awesomeness's base back in.
I know this "corruption week" has been hard on a ton of people (me included)
Server doesn't seem to be showing any more signs of corruption, I honestly think I've removed all the problematic chunks.

My chests are in the temple, aside from a double chest of stone and related items that were in a nearby chunk.

Do you know if it's possible to paste my Shack back in? It gave a pretty neat view of spawnville and I was considering making it a historical overlook once I was done using it.
The one that was on the spawn? I was going to ask you to move it when you logged back in anyway. That spot is supposed to be protected, but I disabled spawn protection for some reason or another.
