Fishing is an incredibly important resource to the people of Thalassa, as it acts as both a source of income for the locals and has served as backup food for decades. Enormous fisheries lie in the southeast, and it is a rare sight to not see dozens of small fishing boats going for a daily catch out in the Black Sea.
Finally, the main source of income is Thalassa’s crucial shipping lanes. Russia, the Caucasus states, Turkey and the Balkans regularly send ships through Thalassa to avoid long rail trips. Much of Russia’s imports to Sevastopol make a pit-stop in these ports, as the docking prices are cheap and the repair crews cheaper. Thalassan men regularly leave home to get a job on the various shipping and cruise liners in Europe.
Economically, Thalassa has enormous opportunities for growth, and have a strong history of trade between the various nations surrounding it in its past. What matters most to the Thalassan people is a fair and balanced approach to said growth. Or, they can be totally ignored, and the nation exploited to its fullest extent.[/quote]
