I already haven't been on in a month due to work and busy running the forum RP in Fast Threads. With both expanding into the winter, I may not be back on until January.
Hope Mallen-Tol doesn't explode on me or change drastically while I'm gone.
When I get back on, someone remind me to get those mooshrooms to breed at Mallen-Tol.
Disbanded my building crew because we were only active during the holidays.

School started, man.
MC servers are always most active in the summer.
Not to mention the closer we get to Christmas, the more us working folk will be too busy. Especially in the US.
That's why I haven't been on lately, working for the paper and trying to get through 12 credit hours doesn't leave me with a lot of free time.

I cannot blame you for being caught up in school. I'm dealing with the same stuff, but throw a newspaper job on top of it. I've got six stories this month, each one's about three or four hours of prepwork and another two hours of writing. My free time is severely limited.

I joined last night and started carving out a home for myself. I looked on the map to see how it looks from a distance then I noticed the entire continent seems to have torches round it. Is this some kind of border or marker to show the land is claimed?

Looks like thats the borders for Cactus town(?). I don't think I've seen anyone build there at all in recent times. Should be abandoned.

I'm planning on my stuff having a minimal footprint, to have stuff blend in or to be easily removed anyway. If anyone has an issue just say and I'll tear it down and migrate.
edit: If that land is not owned any more could I roleplay taking it over? starting by adding huts in the claimed land, then eventually adjusting the border and tweaking the circular village to have a new architectural style and making it the new capital?

I built all the roads and torch towers by hand, myself. But I only consider it a border for my 'sphere of influence', and if you want to build in it, that's totally cool.

I originally clocked my connection at 720 kb/s when I first moved in, and today I hit 30 megabits so I am thrilled to be back in the modern world. I should be rejoining the server next week since I'm leaving town for the weekend.

Where abouts is your outpost to be, what kind of biome. Would look best if you designed it to blend in or to have some kind of cultural reference.

I have noticed a lot of skipping and jumping on the server in the past few months, during the rare moments that I've been online. No issues on my end, because other Minecraft and other game servers weren't giving me any problems. I hope the map folder hasn't gotten too big for Zephyr's host.
