Go to the spawn portal, turn around instead of going towards Mallen-Tol, and take the minecart track on your left to the end
Then go out of the building, make a hard right and take the Stone Brick path to the grinder

The top portion of oak would be pretty... conflicted with Acacia, I think.

The pigman grinder is in the Mesa. It's mine. You can use it if you're gonna be respectful around the place. It's automatic. Just AFK in the area for awhile (best place is up the ladder in the scaffolding) and the gold/XP output is in the Nether.
edit: I would also prefer if people didn't just swing by, pick up the XP and leave. Some people have 'discovered' it by accident and that was funny, but I'd prefer that people stayed and AFK'd awhile if they actually want the XP.
I've been thinking of building another one closer to spawn, but there are some issues with the design I used and the really good design is hard to build in the current version of the game.

Probably. When you reconnect, you'll probably splash right into it unless you know the exact coordinates (and I mean the absolute exact) and can get another player to fix up the lava to be solid or a watery fall instead.

Well, try to find a player to "save" you before you reconnect. Work under the impression that you're still alive because if you're already dead, then it doesn't matter.
You've got 3-5 Seconds of godmode when you join so your best bet is abuse it to your advantage, Join>Move>Disconnect>Join>Move>Disconnect>Join>Move
