My question for those working on refurbishing spawn is, why is there not a UN building that we can hang all the flags of the different settlements on?
Oasis tower can be retrofitted into that if you want. We can even make the first 11floors to have an embassy to each settlement for each floor.

Nah, nah, I want to see a replica of this

Not sure I have the resources or skill to do it myself tbh
I'm sure everyone's seen the clusterfuck of a house I live in at Spawn. Well, I have been discussing the idea of refitting it into a lodge of sorts, where newly spawned players can get some food, armor, and a bed spawnpoint. Suggestions?
Make 'starter packs' of basic necessities, such as full iron armor, tools, two stacks of food, a stack of torches, a bucket of water and maybe oak 4 logs (not planks, logs).
Maybe a stack of seeds and/or potatoes as well.

Can minor settlements (like bulgar or enderpearl) maybe just have a stall or desk
Can minor settlements (like bulgar or enderpearl) maybe just have a stall or desk
I guess smaller settlements can settle for something like this,

a floor separated for four instead of just one.

You made this? Funny how it mentions the Adirondacks, I've been trying to learn a song with the same name for a while now. As i apparently don't have enough skill to learn it on guitar, maybe i should build the song near Wildeholt instead?

What's in stock, lukewarm air, imaginary girlfriends?
On the topic of Vokzal West
I would like to propose that the existing rail be diverted to as such:

This would allow not only more building place but also avoids from unnecessarily separating the city into two, limiting traffic and daily activity.
As obviously shown in the picture, Section 1 and Section 2 will be elevated rails while Section 3 will be a bridge over water. The new rail line will accommodate two commuter stations, it will be straight and linear, simple enough so that no rail switches would be required.
I would also propose the design for the overhead rail to be as such:

Initial design -subject to change
Ideally it should be a double helix design, but for simplicity this particular design would be 2d with both 'waves' staying in each side of the rails on their own respective X-axis.
LEGEND:
Black = Main supporting block for the rail
Green = Rear 'wave'
Blue = Rear guide lines for the 'wave'
Purple = Front 'wave'
Blue = Front guide lines for the 'wave'
Yellow = supporting pillars
The biggest challenge will be the materials of the elevated rail, as the colour scheme for this is futuristic white, I believe the 'waves' should be made out of white stained clay, rails supports to be built using double stone slabs, while the supporting pillars will be made of inverted quartz stairs.
I can't log in to Minecraft, minecraft.net doesn't load... God damnit, someone up there really doesn't want me playing :v:
[editline]30th October 2015[/editline]
Okay so I can load up minecraft.net on my tablet no problem... But it times out without fail on my PC? So does logging in in the MC launcher. What the hell is happening?
I LOVE ALL OF THIS!
City planning is so cool. I'll try to sketch some stuff for West Vokzal today, and put up a proposal later.
Don't take my word for it but I heard this can be caused by some DNS problems.
Try flushing it by going to CMD and typing: ipconfig /flushdns
Didn't work :frown:
planning? i just make things up as i go along lol
although i might have to plan things out once for my cathedral
btw its ok with everyone if i annex enderpearl to my castle right? its a pretty crap place and it needs some nice buildings

The border was built by BLUchameleon so it'd be best to pm him.
BTW, here's the ink farm: http://map.athousandpandas.club/#/4949/64/210/-1/0/0
It's functional. Only time will tell if it's better than Squidmurder, I guess. In theory, it should be. I haven't had a chance to test it while nobody's on yet.
To get there, take the rail line from the mesa nether base towards the desert/Torinton. Step out the portal at the end of the train, then take the 2nd train line across the desert. I can show the way or post screenshots if anyone wants me to.
There's an AFK booth in the side yard, as well as at the very bottom. In theory, the one at the bottom should be the best, because it's at least 20 blocks away, but the squid are moved towards you, decreasing the likelihood they despawn.
I've had a thought. What if, when we did the helix pattern on the elevated rail, we used a cylindrical blend for the elevated station? So you have the 2D pattern for a significant part of the rail, and then you have it blend into a covered station, before uncurling and going back to being a siderail.
I think it'd be a good way to designate a station, although, I'm not sure how you would handle platforms unless you just carved a chunk out of the side, like Sidney did with their monorail.

Not quite sure I entirely follow.
Not quite sure I entirely follow.
Right, so the way it is right now, it's just a sine wave that follows the edges of the track. What if, at the stations, we wrapped it around the track making a helix?

That could work, I imagine. Might be difficult to translate into minecraft, though.

Do what you like with it!
There's nothing of value there for me, the only settlement I actively keep look after is 'Cactus Town'. There's nether and overworld-rail links to and from there though, go wild.
West Vokzal Naming Contest Time, since we're trying to figure out what to call this place.
Vote Agree for Picsel.
Disagree for Pikzel.
Funny for Vertekz.
Winner for Fairvale.
Zing for Virtrosse.
Informative for Taunton.
Clock for West Vokzal.
And feel free to suggest other names. These are just ideas.
Newton
Rivergate
Newman Grove
Just off the top of my head. Maybe more to come.
Why not West Vokzal if it's essentially going to be the same build style, right next to actual Vokzal and retain the members designing and building?
I'm sick of looking at this ugly thing
if someone owns this I won't tear it down, but I'm 90% sure its abandoned almost entirely. Better come forward.

We're looking for free space in the highly desirable town of Wildeholt, and this is prime real estate.
Agree to destroy, disagree to disagree to agree to disagree agreeing with this proposal.

It's an industrial-sized automatic brewing system for potions of swiftness. (Just put ingredients in, and potions come out.) That's 9 double chests already.
My only limiting factor is glass for empty bottles. So while anybody can just come and get some potions since I have so many, I'd ask for donations of glass if you want to come fill up a chest or something like that. Donations are one-time. I just want to keep the machine well-stocked.
If you do come take potions, please save the empty bottles and bring them back. (Reduce, reuse, recycle pls.)
It's fairly easy to operate, but I'd rather maintain it myself because it's not super easy to fix if you fuck something up, like putting the wrong thing in the wrong chest. I'd rather fuck it up myself.
The machine might break in the 1.9 update, unfortunately. They're doing something with brewing. We'll see, I guess. Brewing will require blaze powder as "fuel". (I honestly have no idea why they are wasting resources fucking around with something like brewing instead of, you know, adding more content.)
I've been thinking about building this, but I don't really know that much about automatic brewing and wanted to design something myself. Also the 1.9 change will break it. So yeah.
Anyway, the potions are nice to carry a few if you have to run across town for an errand or something like that. Or also, like, running through the nether for you folks who are working far away from spawn.
(edit: Potion silo is full, so pls come take some.)
