Well ideally you mix and match to produce the desired curves, especially since stone brick slabs mix perfectly with the blocks.
This is a brief guide on how to use the pigman farm optimally as an XP farm. It's the big obsidian cube in the sky here: http://map.athousandpandas.club/#/6203/64/994/-1/0/0. How it works: * When you put two nether portals next to each other and light them up, they join to make one "pseudo-portal". It's a giant cube portal in this fashion. * Pigmen randomly spawn at portal blocks (the purple swirly block). This is how pigmen typically get to the overworld, not by wandering in to a portal. * There are iron golems trapped in the portal cube. If you know how when you emerge from a portal and you are allowed to stand in the portal without getting teleported back, then you know how the iron golems & pigmen are stuck in the portal cube. Same thing. * When an iron golem kills a pigman, the item & XP orb entities teleport immediately to the nether side. When iron golems kill pigmen, XP is dropped. This was added in one of the recent updates. I don't remember if it was intentional or not, but anyway it works right now. No redstone or anything really. It's deceptively simple, you just have to understand the exact mechanics of the portal teleportation to understand the farm. (I didn't invent this farm design. Can't be bothered to find the tutorial video again.) The most efficient place to stand is by climbing the ladder in to the scaffolding, but it will run at a slightly reduced (but still pretty high) rate if you're generally anywhere on the main plateau. The output room around my Nether base. Go out the door to the train station, turn right and head up the stair case. Big problem you will run in to that you need to know about: There's a bug, where what happens is this: * You pick up an orb from the farm. * Your integer level number stays the same, and your XP progress bar goes to 0. * Forever after this, when you pick up an XP orb nothing happens, so your XP is stuck. The only reliable way to fix it is to kill yourself. I don't really know that much about the bug itself. I couldn't find an official report. I think it can happen anywhere, but for whatever reason it tends to happen a lot with the pigman farm. Kelvin was telling me some people had the XP "return" to them later, so it could have something to do with caching. (Waiting has never worked for me, though.) Another possible fix I've read about is to delete the level.dat file but it seems like a pain in the ass since it requires admin intervention. This makes the pigman farm kind of a gamble, because I find that about 1/2 or 2/3 of the time I get the bug. So with that in mind, the most optimal way to use the grinder is this: * AFK for 10-20 minutes at a time, and try picking up the XP. 20 minutes is enough to get to like level 60, so this is plenty long enough. * If you get the bug, spend the XP you have, then jump off a building to reset and go back to AFK to try again. * If you don't get the bug, waste the XP jackpot on books and pickaxes. Optimal use of the XP jackpot without too much headache: * Get the following items: iron pickaxe, diamond pickaxe, books, lapis lazuli. * If the enchanting table offers you Unbreaking III for a pickaxe, get that. Otherwise, get a max book. If you follow this, you'll come out with like 5-6 good pickaxes and an assorted handful of max books. Don't try enchanting pickaxes with books. It's a total waste. When you enchant a pick at the table directly, there's a chance to get bonus enchantments. So most of the time when you enchant e.g. Unbreaking III, you'll also get Efficiency IV and/or Fortune or Silk Touch. If you want to get enchanted armor more quickly, you can switch things up a bit, but that is the most optimal way I've found to blow a large amount of XP. Remember, time at the enchanting table is time off the grinder. Even while losing some of the XP to the bug, it's still much better than a regular grinder. If you just want some free gold, I'd prefer you talk to me so I can give you some out of my personal stockpile. There are also usually several stacks of gold in the "Ore" chest in my overworld base and I don't mind if people take some of this gold, even without asking me. My actual stockpile is hidden and I have a lot more. The way it's set up, it's basically impossible to check the farm's output chests without picking up the XP accidentally. So if somebody's AFK pumping it, you're inadvertently taking their XP yield. You can absolutely have free gold, the design of the farm is just fucking weird and not at all obvious that you might be stepping on someone's toes by checking the output chests. It's one of the reasons I've been thinking about building a second farm with the better design. I can answer questions about it if something's not clear as well. I just decided to type this up so it's more clear how to use it, both optimally as a user and in the friendliest manner as a non-user.
As mayor of Spawn, I declare that the second Great Purge is at hand All ugly buildings that have been abandoned for more than three months shall be promptly and utterly destroyed to make way for capitalism. Eminent Domain at its finest.
Can you at least post pictures of these so-deemed "ugly" buildings?
Oh yea, I won't be taking too many down. I'll post them in the thread before destroying any. The only one destroyed so far was my own :v:
So I might have missed it in the thread, but why did the iron farm stop working? I hear it's been broken for weeks, but does anyone know why?
I cut down a hill at spawn, Mcgrath. I'm going to build a proper theatre, with a stage and lobby and stuff.
I cut down a hill at spawn, Mcgrath. I'm going to build a proper theatre, with a stage and lobby and stuff.
Nice, we could really use a theater. How's that postal service coming? I think it'd be a cool idea to have your telegraphs running from station to station
Can I assassinate you
Me or Wool?

I might build a little complex over on the north end, next to the theatre.
So I might have missed it in the thread, but why did the iron farm stop working? I hear it's been broken for weeks, but does anyone know why?
Something about villages combining into 1 super village when the chunks are loaded.
Why would you want to that, I am making Spawn a Marxist Capitalist state
Why would you want to that, I am making Spawn a Marxist Capitalist state
I'll accept the rule of this ideology so long as its flag has a swastika in it.
Why would you want to that, I am making Spawn a Marxist Capitalist state
If you want to go all out, all government documents should be in Latin.
If you want to go all out, all government documents should be in Latin.
Cur persigni non sunt in Latinus? Nunc omnes postes sunt in Latinus.
Because latin.
A man after my own heart.
Why would you want to that, I am making Spawn a Marxist Capitalist state
So Cuba? I have mixed feelings about this.
So Cuba? I have mixed feelings about this.
Hey, it could've worked had the Cold War never happened
Where are the nether fortresses? I need to go pillage one for a few bricks nvm i found a double chest filled with it, with a sign on top saying "public netherbrick" how does the vaulting on this look? this is my first attempt at something like this
It looks too.....vertical? for my tastes but it's a great start for your first time. I would supplement some of it with slabs to make it look smoother but that's more of an artistic preference. Maybe try making the vault blocks a different block from the stonebrick; always best to build with 3 different colored blocks so to make it more pleasing to the eye. If you use the same thing over and over, regardless of how cheap it may be to reproduce, it just becomes an eyesore and a lot of the structure blends in with itself.
Possible griefing. Deleted minecart rail: http://i.imgur.com/JtEOi2r.png. Button and lever deleted from the face of my smelter: http://i.imgur.com/vmJH4Ve.png.
Can I have a whitelist? IGN is Creeperflame Also why does the map have giant holes in it, is it because simply nobody's been there yet to make it load the world?
Can I have a whitelist? IGN is Creeperflame Also why does the map have giant holes in it, is it because simply nobody's been there yet to make it load the world?
Essentially. Much of the world has not been discovered yet, let alone looted or and raided.
You can't go further out than the edges of the map because those are the world limits. Otherwise, yes, the empty spots are simply unexplored. There's no reason not to go to those locations if you want to explore or find virgin territory. Not much reason to go there for most people, and there's plenty of untouched territory, even in the parts that have been mapped out.

It was brought up to me, and I'm not sure if this is how Minecraft works, but we should leave some territory unexplored. That way, when things like dungeons and shit are added, it'll be able to be made in the unloaded chunks? I think that'll work?
If there are any significant changes in map generation there will be a new world. That isn't to say that I will destroy the current one. More likely is I will just run two servers tied together with bungeecord so there will be cross server chat, and changing worlds will be as simple as entering a chat command.

Only in The End. We can just erase that map.
Yeah, if the next update only majorly changes The End or the Nether and not the overworld, I would prefer only those subplanes be reset.
Whitelist sgt_napalm please.
