I say we should all take a day to get back into it this week. How does the 10th sound for everyone?
I'm game, I get out of work wicked early that day and I can bring my buddy with me.
I concurr [editline]6th January 2016[/editline] Someone contact Incoming and get him in on this
Hello, Regarding the Plateau thing: Pez and his partner have officially quit. So now we have a half-mined plateau. So, to maybe increase everyone's motivations to join the cause, I will pay upwards of three stacks of diamonds to the first two people who fill their place. That is 192 diamonds, per person PLUS all resources collected and two stacks of iron. However, I will only pay half a stack per person upfront. I want the job finished. Contact me if interested, and we may further discuss wages.
I will provide tools and enchantments to start, but then I will only provide the resources for the tools.
So we need to get started with preplanning for the next phase of spawn construction, extending further southwards toward the desert sea. A couple of questions to think about: What styles, motifs, or themes should define this new development? What scale do we want to build it in? How dense do we want it to be? What kind of architecture do we want to use? What's the program? That is, how do we want to lay out the new development? Should it be a few large landmark buildings surrounded by smaller construction at street level, or should everything be about the same height? Should it be more focused on the street-level, or the cityscape? What are the long-term goals? And, finally, how are we going to build this? Should we continue working as single builders, or would it be more efficient to work in teams and standardize the construction processes?
I've been working on a concept with mcgrath, perhaps a tall structure just sticking out of the water, no above water connections whatsoever? If it were to be at the (current) plateau site, this would constitute beginning the structure and avoiding mining any blocks around it.

We might've changed plans with that, but we still need it to be demolished. Thought you were building it to the east in the sea, no? Like I said, if you can pull it off it'd be pretty cool Anyways, Wool. To address your questions: 1. I'm not sure what you mean by this. Do you mean architectural style? I'll answer that one later. 2. I'd like to build the roads to something like 1:2 scale this time around, as the current Spawn road system doesn't allow for much. I liked your idea of wide sidewalks so that we could have trees. 3. I'd like it to be heavily dense, but not too overcrowded. Picture Manhattan or any other Northeastern Seaboard city for that matter. 4. A heavy emphasis on art deco, with some modernism and post modernism thrown in. Again, picture parts of Manhattan. 5. I would prefer it to be emphasized on the cityscape, with a mix of tall and short buildings. I'd like a grid...ish system of roads to run like most American cities. I personally think that some of the tallest buildings should be as tall as the original Spawn skyscraper that I built (and still haven't named :v:) or the big black building that looks like an aesthetic dildo. 6. The long term goals: make a city that generally impresses all who come to the server, thereby both increasing tourism/gaining new server members and attracting attention of others so that they too may join the server. And, I know it's a cliché, but to have fun. I want this to be a fun thing we do, not just some chore. That being said, there's a lot of work to be done if we want this to happen. 7. I think we should continue our current way of building, with one exception: more partnerships. Like a joint venture, so to speak. It'd just be cool to see some of your styles mix and mingle in one big urban sprawl. So, how long will this take? Well, optimistically, a year. Even then you're never really fully done, are you? But in a year, hopefully, the groundwork will be laid out and a decent plethora of buildings will have been built. Now, something different. I want this to be everyone's. It's Spawn, it's the first thing everyone sees. It'd be great if everyone contributed, however small, so we could truly say we did this as a community. Whew, that was some fluffy shit. But seriously, it'd expedite the process of building this and be pretty cool to be able to pinpoint everyone's work from the overview map. Oh, and as per usual, any of this is up for debate.
id love to mine the entirety of the plateau as i need a shit ton of stone for my villager transport project
It would serve the area near Willa's place.
I envisioned the area around the pyramid as a historical district. That's why I was building stuff that looks old around it. I'd planned for the sandstone castle to be set up as an archeological dig site, but I never really finished it. The castle has a very large basement so you can't go under it with a subway. (Which you would find out if you started digging around it anyway. The basement has a hollow boundary so people can't dig in to it by accident.) Anyway, if you want to put a subway station out there, don't try to go under the castle. edit: Go down this ladder if you want to see where the boundary is. Watch your step. http://map.athousandpandas.club/#/-27/64/515/max/0/3 If you want to put a station somewhere, you could possibly put it here: http://map.athousandpandas.club/#/-68/64/493/max/0/0. But there's stuff under this hill: http://map.athousandpandas.club/#/-109/64/490/max/0/0. (That's why when I built the roads, it goes up and over here instead of another tunnel.)
I reorganised the plateau and did a little mining last night. Will continue the excavation soon. 'Only' 20 layers left to strip!
On behalf of myself, IGN Roadkill3197, Who stole my crafting benches from My house?
On behalf of myself, IGN Roadkill3197, Who stole my crafting benches from My house?
Someone stole a ton of crafting tables around Wildeholt. I noticed it right after it happened, went AFK for a couple minutes, and came back to find over 50 crafting tables in my inventory.

Okay guys, I've redeveloped my "magic city" idea into a megabuild of a Wizard's Tower. Much of its design is (obviously) from Isengard in Lord of the Rings (the top of the tower being a direct reference for it). There is a place in the snow plains that has two dungeons relatively close to one another. This is where I aim to build this thing. It's a bit audacious but with the right tools can easily be done. Much of the tower itself will be built out of stone, stonebrick, and all their variations along with dark woods, such as spruce, dark oak and maybe regular oak. Majority of the stone will be taken from "the chasm" which size is heavily dependent on how far apart the dungeons are from one another. If the dungeons are just too distant, then I may build this whole thing with the bridges going into the chasm walls much like the mining bridges at the bottom. Here's a general schematic of what I'm planning: (I recognize that the "remove dirt from island" isn't in the left image) Phases of construction 1) Dig down to both dungeons to both secure them and pinpoint their exact location to one another 2) Knock down 2-3 layers of dirt to gauge size of the chasm between dungeons 3) Measure how large the tower island can be 4) Dig chasm leaving the island for the tower 5) Use the stone from the chasm to build the tower Features to add: -Self sustaining; should have a room for farming for food, some for livestock, etc. -Very very top floor should be some kind of astronomy observatory (not the roof, the actual top room) -Very very 2nd to top floor should house the nether portal -A grand library fitting of a wizard's tower, utilizing the "working bookshelf" apparatus -Enchanting room with a couple enchanting tables with -Walls and floors should be 3 blocks thick to allow redstone lamps to be placed into both without ugly switches appearing everywhere. -Automated farms possibly (I suck at redstone so this will heavily depend on who can build this) -Alchemy level divided into rooms for brewing, growing ingredients, storing ingredients, and storing potions -Each level can have different heights based on their purpose, each level can be broke into multiple rooms -Wall circling chasm should have enclosed battlements with a roof to prevent the whole walking area to be covered in snow -Have a grand spiral staircase from top to bottom with both lava and water flowing through the center of the spiral much like this: [t]http://i.imgur.com/mnedTAY.png[/t] Members: I've learned from building Mallen-Tol that the more people that join a project, the more ideas clash with one another (with terrible results). That being said, I'll allow up to two other people join in. 1) Emperor Scorpious 2) Oskutin(?) 3)???? Thoughts/advice/join in? [editline]8th January 2016[/editline] Ohh, looks like Oskutin already made it there and secured a dungeon.
I think we could make that building to be full height From the very bottom to the very top. Bottom could have mining zones and bridges just over the lava. [editline]8th January 2016[/editline] I was also thinking something similar as alternative. Huge gear shaped brutalistic "fortress" with huge circular chasm with a lot of bridges and potruding controlrooms and lookouts. And then massive tower in the middle. The chasm may or may not be covered with massive dome. The outer ring and other buildings could have 1 block high but very wide bunker like windows.
I'm was looking thru the overviewer and I saw this; [t]http://i.imgur.com/W48nls9.png[/t] :what:
If anybody in Wildeholt is missing a crafting bench, I take full responsibility. I didn't actually do it, but I know who did, and I don't want him catching any heat. It was my idea.

I should be getting over to the spot sometime this weekend, any particular supplies I should grab before departing from my homestead? [editline]9th January 2016[/editline] Nevermind, I arrived With an assortment of goodies as well.
Can I join the cool design document bandwagon too? [thumb]https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/8733190/WildeSpawn.png[/thumb] In order to avoid downtime with the Wildeholt-Spawn line (Which I'm going to refer to as the "North line" from now on), the conversion of spawn lake station into a local subway only station will have to wait until the North line has been rerouted to a new destination (in this case, the central spawn terminal). This is my proposal for the rerouting of the North line into an express ride to the main spawn terminal. The line will now bypass spawn lake station entirely (Which will be converted into a subway-only station), and will be a much more scenic above-ground ride. The North line will be disconnected from the tunnel leading into spawn lake station. This tunnel will be re-used as part of the Luas (Luos? Gah, I can't remember) Northbound subway line.
I thought the whole point of giving Spawn a subway network was so we could have rail-based transit without it interfering with the dense buildings on topside?
Oskutin, Pezgod help me find the other dungeon which is also a spider one. Be careful when you walk around the ice spikes, I dug a lot of test holes and you can accidentally walk into a dead drop all the way to bedrock. They're all 1x1 or 1x2 holes but I put torches around most of them. Now we can begin the next phase, clearing out the land above and gauging how large the chasm and tower area can be. I would imagine the 'island' the tower sits on will only be 5 or 6 blocks larger in diameter than the tower itself with the tower diameter being big enough to divide the interior into a a few small rooms.
I have come home from my extended vacation. I'll be on maybe later today but definitely tomorrow. Looking forward to seeing you all again.
Could I get a whitelist? My IGN is Nookyava.
I thought the whole point of giving Spawn a subway network was so we could have rail-based transit without it interfering with the dense buildings on topside?
This isn't going to be for spawn's local subway system. This is for the server-wide northbound line. I'm also trying to make it as unobtrusive as possible.
Could my IRL friend get a whitelist, IGN TheHunter675 (He lurks on FP) I can personally vouch for him, and he can help with the plateau
I added a Haste II beacon to the plateau mining area. Twenty metres to go! (for real this time)
Are we still doing the whole "everyone log in and do stuff on the 10th" thing? I'm still totally down for that if everyone else is.
What time today?
