Just learned me and Arc's place is going to be part of spawn and everything around us flattened, didn't agree to this at all when we started building months ago. Yeah this is actually bullshit tbh. there's miles and miles in other directions but it just has to be plowed right through my area I've been working on since I joined the server.
We didn't authorize building out that far. conorodoherty (the WTC guy) really did a number on spawn city as a whole. He doesn't really come around here, so I'll tell him to stop.

There's five hectares of completely flat, unclaimed land, and people are still expanding? The way I've seen biomes get pancaked and rivers get (badly) paved over makes me wonder if these developers would be more happy in a superflat world.
That'd be swell of you, I was talking to him last night about it but he wasn't very clear at first then it just gets dropped that the whole birch forest I reside in will now be Spawn :v: I'm all for expansion of the city but I've noticed there is massive flat areas with no buildings at all and in my mind that should be built up first before worrying about expansion. Plus, there's plenty of room on the other side of spawn that has no current residents

It's already expanded past that part, hopefully expansion ends there for this side of spawn at least
Going to intervene for once and say that you can cut the leveling out until you actually use some of the ridiculous amounts of space you've created. And while your at it, you really ought to consider filling in some of the massive holes under all the 1 layer thick flat areas.

I think spawn should expand into the ocean and desert from now on; I know there are plenty of blocks to build over the ocean with.

I must say that i'm not a fan of the spawncity, it looks dull for me without urban feel. Every place is just sterile and empty. Also the city planning is very unoriginal, just plain flattened squares. Normally cities tend to follow terrain and it's features. I would really like to see some dense European style city in Minecraft: [img]http://files.1337upload.net/kolhoosi-10f29a.png[/img]
yeah, tbqh, spawn had more originality with those small wooden/cobble houses than those giant-ass skyscrapers on a flatty land. it looks like the buildings/streets are [I]forced[/I] to be there, I can't really tell, but it does somehow. perhaps when the map gets wiped again we can design it to be a city right off the start, without any weird changes during the time.
Well on the topic of map resets, would people actually be interested in a world with monthly/quarterly/whatever automated resets? I've asked this before, but it bears repeating. Additionally, if you don't like the looks of spawn, there's a lot of the map that you are free to build on. The world limits are large enough to give you some considerable flexibility.
