BTW, some updates on the stuff that I've built:
- The automatic Bone/String/Arrow farm near spawn was broken (no glass elevators in 1.9) but I fixed it.
- The Pigman farm (gold/xp) appears to be broken for good. Pigmen seem to kill the iron golems now. I don't know what, if anything, I'll do about it. RIP. If I feel like playing Minecraft a lot again I might renovate it or build a new one, but there isn't an easy way.
- I'd been playing around with villagers and I've found that it's a good way to acquire Glowstone (among other things) because you can turn Rotten Flesh in to it at about 15:1 (15 stacks of flesh = 1 stack of glowstone). Making an automatic zombie farm might therefore be a profitable venture and something I might work on.
- I built a fully automatic wheat farm (using villagers). It seems to run pretty fast. I have a double chest already. I have the infrastructure now to build a much larger one if I decide to invest the time.
Just joined for the first time in a long time and Squidmuder was full of monsters, if you have a house in Squidmurder could you grab your stuff and knock it down? I plan to turn the temple area into a garden after I set up in a new town.
So to fix Conor's shit, I have devised a development plan. Luckily, part of it was devised months ago by Wool and I, so I'm getting him back on to help. This is what will happen:
- To deal with Conor's flattened land in the Northwest, I'm going to turn it into a suburbia. It's about time I move out of a skyscraper and move into something more accessible and roomy. In this suburbia, there will be no architectural style restrictions. I think it'd be cool if we could get everyone represented, and have styles reflecting different cities and what not.
- To deal with the plateau: Willa has expressed desire in constructing an airport in Spawn. However, this land was previously under claim by Fulsam. Fulsam, if you are going to use this land, please contact me so that I may find Willa somewhere else to build.
- To deal with South Spawn, I will push city development southernward up to the coastline. I will also finish renovating the Spawn side of the New Victoria line of the M&IRR, and I will construct a new subway heading south, most likely under Birch St.
- To deal with Southwestern Spawn: I will keep that as a giant reserve as a testament to the beauty of unflattened land.
- To deal with Northern Spawn: Every city needs a ghetto. Let's make one.
If anyone is interested in helping with any of these projects or anything else Spawn-related, just let me know.

Put a minecart track on each runway that goes up a ramp very quickly and then immediately falls to the ground at the end.
who is connor and what is his shit
I think when I get on next weekend, I'm going to focus on expanding my farm like I wanted.
Turn that whole damn plains biome into a massive wheat farm to make it look like a real farm would.
Just going to need a LOT of shovels to flatten out the land a bit :v:

The more I think about doing it, the more excited I get about it so expect me on eventually/soon

Also now Spawn will have a second airport, the first being the World Trade Center
You guys should turn that birch forest biome between the 3 cities into a park like Central Park in NYC
Oh wow, the 1.10 update just launched. It's a smaller one than 1.9 but it launched like 3-4 months after 1.9, as opposed to the pathetic 2 year waiting between 1.8 and 1.9. There's a few minor changes to world generation like gold-filled mineshafts in mesa biomes and different village designs, so if everybody wants to move spawn way out into ungenerated terrain, now might be a good time to go for it.
Also, polar bears. We need polar bears.

I was in the process of building my own afk farm that works, but I got bored and didn't get around to it. Might do it in the next month or so.

Could you please weigh in on any part of the talks about map expansion or spawn movement?
Not against expanding the map borders a bit.
Don't really see the need to move spawn. Would also break the iron farm (it's currently inactive, but I can fix it with a server restart whenever).
As plentiful as iron is in the world, that wouldn't be the greatest loss to the map.

so newer players can discover land that hasn't been touched yet and perhaps to encourage people to band together and make a new settlement in the 'new lands'

But there's already tons of land that haven't been discovered yet. Why do people keep using this argument?

I think their argument is that they need more encouragement to go out into these unexplored lands. Even then, it's at the players discretion whether they want to go into the wild or not, and I don't see anything that's stopping anybody. I don't see why moving the spawnpoint is necessary.
Hey, mind whitelisting me?

How long will it take for the server to be updated? I'd love to go exploring the new parts of the map, but obviously only after the server updates to 1.10.
I don't think the biome placement within a given seed has changed from 1.9 to 1.10 (except the nether maybe?), so there shouldn't be any ugly chunk borders in new land when the server updates.
OK, so here's an update on what I've been doing with villagers.
- I found Mending and Frost Walker books. (More on this below.)
- I have a villager selling almost every book except Unbreaking III so far. (Still looking for that one.)
- I built an AFK rotten flesh farm with a single zombie spawner, per my post on the previous page. It's at my mesa. I could build a bigger one at a different location, but it's a bit farther away. (I found two zombie spawners right next to each other elsewhere on the island last year.) Anyway, it works. I haven't tested how fast it is yet since I've been pumping my wheat farm overnight instead. In theory it should produce at the same rate as the spider/skeleton farm at spawn.
I have a chest full of Mending enchantments and am willing to give them away at this point. The issue is that they're actually kind of expensive. I've been eating in to my sugar cane and pumpkin supply to acquire emeralds and I've used up half of my stockpile already (about 5 double chests of each). The solution might be just to build a bigger pumpkin farm. The one I have is actually quite small (only 16 plants). I just built it early on and it's been running for a long time.
Anyway, I've been experimenting with Mending and it's quite good. The way it works is that if you have the Mending item equipped when you pick up an XP orb, some of the XP is siphoned off to repair the item. Putting it on a weapon makes the weapon effectively invulnerable which is amazing. You can also repair e.g. picks and shovels by equipping them in your off-hand.
For tools it's a little bit slower to repair than using an anvil, I think. It took me an hour or so to repair a diamond Unbreaking III pick all the way at the Skeleton Grinder. It's still better than anvil repairs though, because the item can be used infinitely. Anvil repairs eventually cost too much and you have to trash the item.
I don't really have a good read on how many people actually play the server right now so I don't know how many I can give away. I think I've seen about 10 people so maybe like 2 for everyone. I have a practically infinite number, it's just eating in to my stockpile of pumpkins/sugar cane/string/etc. "10 for everyone" would be great but I don't think I have enough resources to do that. I'll be getting more though. I'm stockpiling them because I like them.
Just for example, items like this are actually economical if you have Mending:

(Adding books to an item increases its anvil cost so it used be adding that many enchantments would make the item only be able to be repaired maybe once or twice.)
Also, if you have Elytra, you should put a Mending enchantment on it so you can repair it without having a second Elytra.
Anyway, talk to me if you want Mending or Frost Walker books. Also, any other books since I can get almost anything for you. Also talk to me if you want to spend time trading with my villagers so we can go over how the mechanics work. I might make the traders a "public" section and make a post/signs explaining it later but I'm not really sure yet.
hey, could I be whitelisted too?

I have a mending bow, it's amazing.
I want frost walker, but I'm too often using water enchantments. If I can already sprint through water, I don't think I'll need it.
But there's already tons of land that haven't been discovered yet. Why do people keep using this argument?
Because even if the territory is prime, it's hard to encourage people to build in your new settlement if it's 8km from the civilization around spawn, especially when new people get free resources from the established cities and are therefore encouraged to stay localized as a convenience.

Is that not ok to do? I understand where you're coming from but it's a really good way for a city/town to build a population.
the town will expand anyways, once the area is over-saturated people will move on to new areas

So build closer to spawn then? What's the issue?
Game just fucking killed me again going through my Nether portal. Lost all my items. Again. What the fuuuuuuuuck.
edit: Must be this. https://bugs.mojang.com/browse/MC-98153
Great, I'll just go to 6100, 1100 and get my stuff back. 6100, 1100 in the Nether, which doesn't fucking exist. Fuck this shit.

I've had this same glitch while going through the portal at the stronghold near Wildeholt. Haven't died yet thankfully.
Since the world is capped at block 10,000 then the Nether is capped at 1,250 (unless I'm mistaken). So according to what people are saying at the bug reports, the Wildeholdt portal would actually put you at valid coordinates. I guess the good news (lol) is if I'm getting teleported far away from where anyone will ever be then maybe my items are just out there somewhere in the unloaded chunk.
