Most notably for the education system is mandatory school-attendance for children aged 5-16. Though it'll take a number of years to really know what effect this has on Prussia, it appears that youth-literacy has been on a steady rise. Along with mandatory attendance, military service is now mandatory for boys 13-16 years of age. While it isn't full time, they are required to spend 5 days of each month drilling, studying military history/lingo, and target practice. This increases the size of Prussia's army considerably. - Schoolhouses begin to be built in almost every village and town inside of Prussia. What is seen as a long term goal to increase the literacy and intelligence of the population, it also creates a few thousand short-term construction jobs. By the end of 1836, most children in the Kingdom are enrolled in school and off the streets. Though this benefits the country in certain aspects, farmer-families must now hire people to fill the gaps of where their kids once were. High-Level state run colleges and universities are built in Berlin and Koenigsberg, attracting many English, Prussian, Russian and French students. - Taxes for the lower class are raised to 15%, causing quite a stir. They demand better and faster services if they are to be taxed so much in return for what seems, so little. - Prussian engineers, mechanics, and scientists begin to experiment and develop modern flintlock rifles. While not much has changed, they are able to develop a rifle that is much quicker to reload, but slightly less accurate. Along with this, the idea of Mechanical production begins to come into fruition. Persia - Native Hunter - The Persian government enacts a few modernization reforms to the military, this all comes in as they hope to compete with the neighboring Ottoman Empire and the northern Russian Empire. About 20 former British military officers are offered pay and free housing if they help organize, and train the army. With 200 British nationals signing up to join Persian military units. Increased discipline, and rifle-accuracy are some of the most prominent advancements made to the Persian army in 1836. - Some military fortresses, varying in sizes and quality, are built on the eastern and western borders of the nation. This is to prevent any possible invasion. Though, the army finds trouble in maintaining them, as the costs and upkeep for supplies is very high. - A unit of 2,500 troops are sent to annex unclaimed land in modern day Uzbekistan. Parts of the uncharted province are successfully integrated by years end. In response, the Russian government sends a force of 5,000 men from preventing the Persians from expanding anywhere near Russia. - With the guidance and support of regional clerics, schools begin to pop up around the nation. Mostly in densely populated areas, though some are built in regions with sparse population. For now, attendance is optional, so only a few thousand children show up or benefit from the teachings at the school. - Some roads are constructed between cities and large towns, however, construction stops there. Most regional governments don't see it fit to expand roads where they think will be useless. Regardless, this is helpful for the local economy and an increase in trade is noticeable. - The government encourages the clergy to offer humanitarian support to the local populace. At first reluctant, most of the clergy by the end of the year are in some way or another, supporting the local populace through food or clothing drives. This builds much needed respect and trust by the populace for the central government in Tehran. - Trade deals for weapons, food, clothing and other items are sent to the Russians, Ottomans and British. The Ottomans and Russians refuse, but the British do end up sending a few crates of modern rifles and clothing to the Persians. - With these new rifles acquired from the British, some Persian engineers begin to experiment with "breech-loaded" versions. But by the end of the year, not much progress is made. Along with requests made to the British government to send some engineers to assist in construction railroads. Austria - Spoder55 - The Austrian military sends 3 small units of line infantry to the border with Prussia. So they haven't positioned themselves in a provocative manner, many Prussian military officers believe this is a subliminal threat by the central government in Vienna. - The Austrian government begins a series of small, yet long-term health care reforms oriented at the poor and lower classes. By the end of the year, most of the countries lower classes have access to some form of healthcare. - An increase in trade between Austria and the Russian Empire began to become prevalent. Mostly beef and gunpowder is traded between the two nations. - Funding is poured into research of medicine and rifle armaments. The Kingdom of France - Griffster26 - French military units begin to invade the rest of Algeria in a war to pacify the small African nation. Casualties are quite heavy for the French, as most units aren't experienced with fighting in such a climate. By the end of the year, some gains have been made, but the country is far from being ridden of anti-French factions. - The Kingdom of Brunei is invaded by a force of 15,000 amphibious French Marines. Unlike Algeria, the military of Brunei collapses in a matter of months, with most of the country under French control. However, there are still a few rebel groups who stage attacks on French outposts and convoys during the night. - In what comes as a victory for the working man, all male citizens are granted the right to vote regardless of income level or social group. Women on the other hand, have no representation in government. - A referendum is held on how much power King Louis holds, with a slight majority, people vote that he must be a figurehead, rather than a figure that holds any real power. The Republic of Texas - Emperor Scorpious II - The Republic of Texas emerges victorious in their war of independence with Mexico in April of 1836. Military engineers and local workers begin to construct various forts along the Rio Grande and Western frontier with the Native Americans. Each fort has around 20 men and other various amounts of militia-men. Along with the new forts, the Texan government begins investing in its own naval force. The United States offers it 4 frigates for a bargain price, the Republic is very quick to accept. - A landmark law is passed that forbids slavery for any child who is born to a parent who is free. Though many slave-owners protest, they are ignored by the government in Houston. A defensive alliance is also forged between the two nations against Mexico. With surplus and outdated American military equipment sent to the Texan Army. The Mexican government is furious at this and demands the alliance to dissolve, or face action. - An agreement is made with the American government to build a railroad between the two nations, Linking Houston and New Orleans. Once completed, no one is sure on whether Americans will move to Texas, or Texans move to the USA. - The Republic launches a campaign within the United States to encourage immigration, but isn't quite successful. By the end of the year, they attract less than 1,000 Americans. - The United Kingdom formally recognizes the Texas Republic as a sovereign country, however is the only nation to do so. The United States doesn't formally, as there are rumors that the US may want to force Texas into statehood eventually. - Texan scientists begin to research a revolving pistol and cartridge bullets. A prototype for the revolving pistol is built but explodes when used.

Are you intending to simulate elections?
I hope Lamar ousts Houston. I need a hardcore nationalist as president.
So we submit our turns again?
So we submit our turns again?
Given that Logan didn't give any specific due date, I would guess sending the next turn ASAP is preferable.
Given that Logan didn't give any specific due date, I would guess sending the next turn ASAP is preferable.
Way ahead of you there. Sent my turn in and discussed stuff with Prussia.
Are you intending to simulate elections?
yes just remind me in your turn
Since this is the age of colored uniforms and I'm not going to waste a command line in a turn just for the sake of flavor, I'm going to declare the uniform color of the Texan Army will be dark yellow, much like the star on our flag.
The emperor did nothing wrong.
Get your turns in
