I was on the old server before it went down. Can I join this server? My MC name is Stratnon.

You griefed my nether fort into a floor.... Why would you do this? It's literally now the ugliest most pointless thing on the server.
Thompson Tower II, the tallest building on the server, has been structurally completed, and the MIRR logo has been put up: [t]http://i.imgur.com/RNNG9oF.jpg[/t] [t]http://i.imgur.com/o8YvxEF.png[/t] Full Album Here
Looks like shit, however on the other hand it looks perfect for wither skull hunting.
That was the whole reason. Wither skull farm. But now I know how much pain in the ass to fight the wither is now. [editline]3rd April 2017[/editline]
This is like the 4th time they've flattened something without approval. Plus still convinced they're using a cheat client, my ISP is shit is a poor excuse for how fast you move at times.
I can prove Im not. As loriborn said, I dont see why you would cheat on a basically creative server anyways. Im smarter than to DL malicious virus ridden software. I would have no point in doing so. Also flattening was only one mistake. I dont mean any harm and grief to what I do. Edit: I got a job now and dont even have much time for MC anyways. If you guys really want me gone just say so. I got better shit to do like sleep.
That was the whole reason. Wither skull farm. But now I know how much pain in the ass to fight the wither is now.
Just shoot them with arrows. If you have a looting sword, put that in your main hand then put your bow on the off-hand. It'll give the bow the looting effect so long as each weapon is in hand. (Kudos to Milkdairy for teaching me this awesome fact)
This popped up in my Twitter feed today. I feel like the architecture nerds here would appreciate it. http://archifutures.futurearchitectureplatform.org/volum-2-the-studio/the-century-that-never-happened/
I keep finding pieces of roof missing from my buildings, like 3 or 4 blocks worth. I do not think it's lightning as, 1) all the roof blocks are half slabs on the bottom side or stairs, and 2) my buildings are all wood, if they caught on fire, majority would have been burnt down. Can someone investigate what is happening? [editline]3rd April 2017[/editline] My village has been mostly demolished, just have to get rid of the blacksmith shop and the one hut. I would like to keep the stone church intact though so to preserve the fact that there was once an NPC village here. I would like to start construction on a NPC Villager farm soon based on the video Kyle posted a couple pages back in the thread. Any help, especially from you Kyle if you can, would be much appreciated. If we get it working properly, we can possibly get mending books. I would like the farm to go in the center, in front of the church (roughly where the blacksmith place is currently). Then around that I will construct a stone wall like the rest of my kingdom has for added protection, with slabs over water in between the wall and the farm for added protection against zombie hordes. You know, looking at spawn I feel as though we missed an opportunity to apply more aspects of big city design and planning. The cloud-piercing towers and stuff are nice but kind of feel like they're fit into an urban area designed for much smaller infrastructure. Even with street signs, all the streets themselves are identical and there's no tiering to them (larger MSRs as navigational and aesthetic landmarks) which kind of exacerbates the "samey" and claustrophobic feel of the spawn city. The whole place just kind of feels like one big alleyway. I don't really have any solution to this issue as widening the roads would involve completely restructuring the buildings, but it's just something to think about for expansions / next time a new map is used. Spawn city needs thoroughfares and avenues and actual plazas befitting of the towering giants that inhabit it, not this dingy 14th century backalley pavement. :v:

Trust the process. We do kind of have one main thoroughfare, by the way. I am combining Broad and 3rd to be just Broad, so it'll be one big street with parks in the median. New Victoria Street is going to be made into a 2 lane thoroughfare as well, but that will start on the other side of the river. I think part of the problem here was I tried to affect as little land as possible since last time we had waaaaaaaaaayyyy too much land on our hands. Luckily, it's a fixable problem so long as I put my elbow grease into it.
Where exactly is that flat nether fortress? I'd like to get me some wither skulls (not for making the wither, mind you, just for decoration)
I think what I'm going to end up doing is expanding most streets width wise (Think SRRA from Last server). I think that spawn's lack of squares is ok for now, but I do want to make more. [editline]3rd April 2017[/editline] Also, natural growth was really limited due to Lori's thing in the south and the STC to the east, and that didn't help.
there's still that massive (and rather nasty looking) thing to the west of the town that has been sitting unoccupied and looking much the same as it has for the past 2 months it's just a few lines of stone and not much else given that it covers the land between the stadium and the main city it might be an idea to develop up that area a bit so it looks somewhat decent (plus fix the last of the wither damage and make the roads less weird into the bargain)

Mostly landscaping tho
That's the STC, and I can tell you personally that it is under dev and work has been done there. Mostly landscaping tho
Ohhh, you confused me since you were saying there was stuff in the east for some reason
I've come up with a few ideas to improve the city.
We carve out the strip in the middle of the city, containing the Cartographer's Guild, Cocks, Sob's castle, and the cow building, and replace it with a park that extends from old town to the river. The east and west ends of the park would be capped by a museum of history on the east and a museum of art on the west. These buildings would interface with the projects on their respective sides: Sobotnik's work with Oldtown would influence the design of the history museum, while the art museum would echo whatever project takes place in the WTC area. (All buildings removed could be relocated to another location in spawn, or in the case of Sobot's castle, to Oldtown.) The park would be flanked by more skyscrapers, to really develop the canyon idea already present along 3rd street. To facilitate further development along the park, the border of Lori's castle district would be pushed back and straightened out, and a row of brownstones would hide a section of the wall. The diagonal path to the south would also be straightened, and serve as the southern border of the park, facilitating the construction of a new tower on the south side. The development near Duck's tower would continue apace, with the exception of a new road grid and tower blocks being made available in that southern area, interfacing with the mountains. Oldtown would get a wall defining its space, similar to Lori's castle. The strip of parks along 3rd street would end at the central park. A modern pedestrian bridge would connect the financial district (containing the MIRR and Usonia Center buildings, among others) to developments on the west side of the river, to eventually interface with Fulsy Field. A final decision would be made on the WTC site, to either clear the site for further expansion or proceed with construction as planned. New developments would be required to be constructed on some elevation change from the financial district, to help develop more organic layers. Additionally, plots outside the financial district, and south-of-Torinton district would be subdivided to facilitate varied streetscapes. The addition of two new plazas, one at the north end of the financial district, and one in south-of-Torinton would facilitate community spaces, markets, and other social activities. All this development would culminate in a central transit terminal, connecting all current and future overland rail, nether transit, and an Elytra tower to really make Spawn the gateway hub it needs to be.
I think this plan solves a few issues spawn is having: namely, the lack of organized road structures, interesting environments, and a lived-in feel, while also alleviating expansion pressures caused by spawn's interesting and challenging position between three stagnant, large-scale projects that currently shape its borders. But this is a community space, so what do you all want to see Spawn become? Hop in the Discord tonight around 9 if you want to offer some suggestions, or feel free to leave them in the thread. If we're going to do any large-scale redesigns, we need to build a city everyone can shape, and everyone can be proud of.
I think that's a great idea, though I should mention that the street with the canyon is just Broad Street now and not 3rd, to make it one large thoroughfare. [editline]3rd April 2017[/editline] If I decide to do this, and use eminent domain, I promise to relocate all projects to more suitable locations at no expense to the owner.
i'll move the castle to the hill at the northern end of oldtown if needs be, although that would require a bit of assistance with dismantling and such
I've put together a brief overview of a few things El Periodista has suggested. I haven't gone too indepth. The central park is 29blocks deep if I counted correctly. I think it would require everyone getting involved and helping to move stuff, rather than working on our own projects seeing as spawn is the central hub. [thumb]http://i63.tinypic.com/29nfnn8.png[/thumb] [editline]3rd April 2017[/editline] Also I have planned to build a garden/park behind my skyscraper. Though perhaps I could shorten it so it's in line with Jammydodger's plot East of mine if demand for building South of me is high.
I'm fine with any changes to spawn as long as they don't touch the Kyo building, I don't exactly feel like relocating the generator again. Also hope the twin waters park I made gets absorbed into the main park, the path through the middle of it would likely make it easy to edit in. [editline]3rd April 2017[/editline] Also moving the castle up to to the top of the hill where the railroad goes through wouldn't be a bad idea if that's planned, could actually even world edit it over without much effort.
Pre, would you be ok with using WE or will we have to do this one ourselves
I think that's a great idea, though I should mention that the street with the canyon is just Broad Street now and not 3rd, to make it one large thoroughfare.
[editline]3rd April 2017[/editline] a good way to encourage natural growth would be to designate two main thoroughfares, intersecting perpendicularly (a plus, basically) which would then extend out into empty space. Then, let the buildings come and lay the side streets around them. If you want a specific layout of the buildings, just establish some zoning rules. E.g. The next building must be to the adjacent East of the last one buit. Now you have a double width block with a street marking their boundaries on the east, west, etc. Irregular negative space from weird buildings designs? Make an alley or back lot. Etc etc. This way contractors have more room to build without the bounds of predefined blocks dictating their dimensions. [editline]3rd April 2017[/editline] Here's a rough example. The red plus is the main thoroughfares, which are built first and foremost as a predefenition of the city layout. Then, by zoning out slots you can still maintain control of where things get put (thus preventing road spaghetti) without reatricting their size too much. The blue lines, the side roads, are built after the projects are completed.

Hardest part is transporting the villagers, and making sure the doors are seen as valid. Once we have some prized villagers we can use it to populate a building or something if y'all like.
I think that the new strip of parks should be as wide as the Broad Street Median strip. They'd complement each other nicely.
But if you reduced the depth of the new park what becomes of the roads above and below it? The new park would need to be half it's height to match that of the current park strip which would leave a gap above and below. You could extend the roads but then you end up with a 15~blocks of it either side of the park. I also think it would be nice to have a large park and have buildings built around it. I personally see a large park as the central point/spawn and have developments expand around it. [thumb]http://i65.tinypic.com/280jf9c.png[/thumb]
I'm cool with people ripping COCKS to pieces providing its for a good cause. I'll make new improved, even bigger COCKS though; and I need to erect a COCKS HQ skyscraper as well, tall and proud, penetrating the clouds. [editline]4th April 2017[/editline] Having a big main road is better because then you can see the facades of all the buildings along the road. Maybe oldtown should have a windy/meandering main road set up, splitting off of the main road. If the odltown road is defined then people can freely contribute to the project and it can evolve naturally
If you guys really want me gone just say so.
See nobodies said that, what some of us are saying is have some common sense now and again.
