Hey Zilla you think I could get a response in the outbreak thread about my turn before you go om vacation so I can get muh turn in?
No turn for this week and the next. With Outbreak being larger, and since I've kinda run out of time, it's best that Wild Future be on hiatus.
However, RP season is beginning now that people are making their way out of school, so do not fret! Your hideous creatures will still be evolving
Honestly I know this is gonna probably piss a bunch of people in Outbreak off but I'd rather it were reversed. This is a cool fun new concept that hasn't been explored yet. But "zombies in the modern world" has been done before. Plus this one is probably easier for you, innit?
Any update on this?
My drawing pad is broken right now and I need to make some adjustments. New cord and pen en route

Meteor showers continue to pepper the planet, bursting high in the air and showering the atmosphere with small crystals of frozen water, liquid oxygen and quartz. However, the coup de grace takes place as a massive asteroid, measuring 4km in diameter slams directly into the far northern hemisphere of the planet.
The initial impact causes a heat wave to cover the northern pole, igniting everything for a 100km radius. At the same time, the shaking of the Earth causes a rippling tsunami, with waves over 18m tall to crash along the shores of northern continents. The pain for the planet does not end there.
Hundreds of millions of tonnes of ash and dirt are sent skyward, and blanket most of the earth in a dense haze for decades. The sun is blocked out, killing off numerous plant species explicitly dependent on solar rays. Without a constant source of heat, the oceans begin to cool, dropping the world’s temperature by 5c over the period of but a century. As snow falls for the first time in millions of years, thousands of species have already gone extinct.
Not everything is lost, however. With every wiping of the slate comes the opportunity for growth and diversity. Areas scourged by the impact and tsunami are reconquered by new, unusual plants, followed by even more bizarre animals. The world has suffered worse, and will grow anew.[/quote]

The Grass Screecher is a formidable predator that lives in the band of steppe and grassland between the NeoAsian Jungle and the spreading Eurasian Desert. The Grass Screecher is much larger than any of its ancestors, measuring at roughly 4m in length.
The Grass Screecher relies on its "burst" speed, allowing it to tear after its prey for a short time, but long enough to get the edge on most other animals. With a newly developed, semi-opposable thumb, the Grass Screecher can hold onto its prey and manipulate it in ways to make dispatching easier.
Living in small family groups of roughly 10 individuals, the Grass Screecher has an edge over its competitors. Females lay small clutches of eggs that, in a pinch, can be grabbed with the thumb and moved elsewhere. Grass Screechers mate for life, and keep a sharp eye over their young, who usually learn to hunt on their own after only a few months.
The greatest danger to the Grass Screecher are the torrential snowstorms that sweep over the steppe during the winter months. However, the Grass Screecher is not stupid, and will usually migrate south to the warmer forests and jungles, where the nesting season begins.

The Bushback is a long-legged omnivorous reptilian native to the last pockets of the Neo-Amazonian jungle and surrounding forests. Its wide beak allows it to pluck grass and leaves daintily, as well as pull apart carcasses in the event of protein scarcity. The wide flower on its back, a symbiotic life form present on the Bushback at birth, serves as a sugar factory for the animal. In exchange for free energy, the Bushback protects its flower and ensures its survival.
An important aspect of the Bushback is its "duo-thermal" capabilities. When the temperature drops, the body switches to an endothermic form of heating, burning sugars and fat, generating body heat. When the temperature rises, as it tends to, it switches back to exothermic heating, taking in warmth from the environment.
Bushback breeding is surprisingly complicated. Males do not have genitalia, and instead migrate their genetic information towards the flower. Small insects carry the pollen from males towards the more vibrant and attractive flower of the female. The pollen serves a dual purpose, pollinating both the flower and the female, who then lays eggs 8-9 months later. These eggs are buried beneath a large pile of dirt, and abandoned by the mother to fend for themselves.

The Bogjet is an absolutely bizarre and horrifying metallivore native to most of Eurafrica. Its digestive system, used to collecting deposits of minerals in the environment, has now been adjusted to "filter" it from the bodies of animals if need be. As more silicon based life forms begin to evolve throughout Eurafrica, the Bogjet has a wide variety of prey.
What makes the Bogjet so unique is its use of partially-digested plant and animal matter. The gasses produced by the rotting substances build up in a "flight bladder" near the creature's tail. Using a spark of quartz, the gasses are ignited, and directed downwards. From there, it propels the Bogjet high into the air, where its wings spread apart, allowing it to glide silently for hundreds of kilometers at a time.
The Bogjets multiple arms allow it to manipulate prey and mates alike. When presented with a worthy mate, the Bogjets will rip off their "cheeks" and connect them together. These small globules of Bogjet will then form a hard chrysalis, producing a young Bogjet. However, Bogjet babies are usually born alone, and left to fend for themselves.

The Sandscooter is a dangerous metallivoric creature native to the shores of the Americas. No longer a collective individual like its ancestors, Sandscooters are but a single organism. Its simplistic mouth acts as a filter while the Sandscooter digs about on the shoreline and in coral reefs, hence its name.
Using collected plant and animal matter, the Sandscooter can produce gaseous buildups, allowing it to become buoyant in the water, giving it the ability to adjust its depth. These plants and animals tend to be toxic, and the toxins are migrated to both the skin and the front-facing spines. These spines are attached to a gas filled bladder, and can be launched at high speeds into the flesh of would-be predators.
The Sandscooter breeds in a unique fashion. The rear two "tentacles" house both male and female sex cells. When presented with a mate, the Sandscooter turns backwards, and trades the tentacles with the other. The eggs will gestate within a pseudo-womb, allowing the Sandscooter to produce live spawn that follows the "mother" until adulthood.

The Water Titan is a ferocious, intimidating carnivore that spans across the southern Atlantic. Measuring a stunning 11 meters in length. Consuming anything it can fit its jaws around, the Water Titan has evolved an ability that makes it a force to be reckoned with. A second pair of lungs, similar to that of most land-dwelling chordates, is present in the Water Titan's thorasic cavity, giving it the ability to walk upon land for a short period of time.
Water Titans can spend up to a day on land before their skin must be moisturized. They cannot travel very far inland, due to their flipper-like legs not yet adapted for land movement, but a Water Titan can still catch up to prey if need be. Its armored head doubles as a hammer, and in an ambush scenario at the shoreline, the Water Titan can crush multiple prey items for them to be dragged into the water.
Water Titans breed like most water-dwelling reptilians as opposed to fish. Females will haul themselves onto land, dig a deep hole, and lay upwards of 30 eggs at a time. These eggs are then buried in sand, and abandoned. In the winter months, Water Titan hatchlings must hurry to the safety of the ocean, while shore-living creatures have a chance at revenge.

The Wig Wasp is a thumb-sized, highly adaptive insect native to North America. The Wig Wasp feeds on a variety of things in their environment, including nectar, seeds, nuts, insects and small animals. Their scissor-like jaws allow them to carve up carrion and bring it back to their obscenely large hives, which measure on average 2 meters in diameter.
With a royal family system, the Wig Wasp avoids the issue of queen death, and instead have a multitude of alpha individuals in the hive. Their fuzzy exoskeleton, which gives them their namesake, allows them to survive during the winter months and continue the search for food. In the event of an attacker, the Wig Wasp hive will move out en-masse, and inject paralyzing neurotoxin in huge amounts into the enemy, who will usually be eaten after the venom takes effect.
Wig Wasp queens and princesses will lay upwards of 800 eggs at a time, which are distributed throughout the hive. A majority of these eggs are the sterile female "Drone", but will still contain fertile male and female "Royals", which can be used to repopulate the hive if need be.
