The announcement was made just as the game was starting. Owen managed to get an early lead, but as he hit the braking zone for the first turn he thought he hit his marks perfectly...until his competitors zoomed by, tires hugging the ground as if made of glue. "What the heck was that mess? You should've kissed the wall just now!" Owen exclaimed. Considering the large gap, Owen knew he didn't really have a chance to catch them, so instead he went ahead and sent a reply to Yuga. ((These week on Intergalactic Anime, the 1st season premiere of: My captain can't possibly be hitting on me!))
[It's just like one of my Terran animes]
Nah, I think you're good. Besides, Alex looks like he's been through tons of stress in his life so I think it would be best if you train me.
"Ok, but don't turn sour on me when I can't teach you some of the more fancy tricks." She pointed towards the training room. "Cmon, sounds like they finished kicking the shit out of each other in there." Amy went inside, Amelia followng close behind. "Hey, Big Bear!" Alex tuned around as Amy tossed one of the swords to him. "I told you I had a surprise for you." "Where did you dig these up from?" He said while expecting the sword. "Figured you could use a refresher course. Go on, take a swing." Alex stepped forward and took a few swings. It was like riding a bike. A bit rusty, but everything was comming back. The proper stance, the swing and the jab. Everything the knight commander hammered into his head. "This I did not expect to do today." "Mhm. I remember you told me once, that the sword fight with the other boys was the only good thing in that hellhole. Figured I bring the good memories back. This time you're surrounded by people not gunning for dad's position at least." Amy looked at Amelia and then Taylor. "Amelia said she wanted me to teach her, what about you Taylor? You got any experience with a sword?"
"Amelia said she wanted me to teach her, what about you Taylor? You got any experience with a sword?"
"Nah. Biggest blade I've used is a machete." she stated. "I'd be up for learning too. Might be useful if we run into any Creed guys. Could also teach Amelia some hand-to-hand skills too. Not every fight is with a blade or a gun."
After setting up his room, Johannes keys up the commlink and pings Hariim. After doing so, he begins walking back towards the armory while waiting for a response, his armor in his duffel bag.
"Great. I can show you the basics. But for the more tricky maneuvers, you will have to ask Alex to teach you. Oh and zweihander is in the bag." Alex immediately went to rummage through the bag.
"Great. I can show you the basics. But for the more tricky maneuvers, you will have to ask Alex to teach you."
"Alright." said Taylor, reaching over and taking one of the training swords from Amy. She swung it about a bit, even stepping back and swinging it like a baseball bat. Really light, but durable. Probably wouldn't smack someone with it, though. "Also, what's a Zweihander?" she asked, glancing back over and raising an eyebrow.
Bucky plays in her usual intensely fast way, nabbing every possible advantage she can get and butting her competitors out of the way aggressively. The wily android seems dead-set on winning today. "Eat my nitro, scrublords!"
Also, what's a Zweihander?"
"This thing." Alex said while carrying the large sword. "Means two-hander. As in, you need both hands to swing this monstrosity. Perfect for when you want to get rid of pikemen or want to stab someone from farther away." he chuckeled."As you can probably guess, it's not very practical these days. But I liked training with these, since swinging it was so damn fun." "Riiight. If you're done gushing over that thing, we can start." Amy said as she picked up a training sword. "Try to do what I'm doing and we'll take it from there." Amy stepped forward making sure both could see her. She did a swing, followed by a lunge, a stab and finally a hacking motion. She turned around. "Now you try."
Valkyrie was more focused, using any opportunity she could get to advance and exact revenge on Bucky for her ramming and trash talk. She also tried her best to keep Owen and János behind her, using traps to her advantage. .... Taylor got into a proper stance, and mimicked Amy's movements and attacks with her training sword. Machete and knife attacks were a lot more violent and aggressive than this. This was sort of graceful.
Amelia tries to imitate Amy's movements. The first time she swings, she almost hits Alex in the head. "Haha, whoopsiedoodles, lemme try again." She gets back in the proper stance, then get's into a determined, serious face. The way she is able to copy Amy's movements is spectacular, almost clone like. It's quite beautiful to watch, actually.
Amy observed them both. She was rather impressed with how quick they picked everything up. A few things here and there were a bit clumbsy, but practise will set things straight. Amilia really impresed her, however. "Are you sure you don't have any training?"
"Video games promote hand-eye coordination." she thrusts another swing, following Amy. "And I've taken dance... I'm able to keep my balance." she keeps copying Amy, from the footsteps to the upper body, even the fingers are almost perfect.
"I see. Well, I guess you know what comes next. In the middle of combat, your Creed oponent will be unrelenting. Asuming you fight or flight instincts choose fight, you have 3 options. Block, parry and dodge." Alex stood next to her for what was next. "I'll show you how to do a proper block and parry, while Amy is attacking me. After that, Amy will attack you a few times to make you sure you have it nailed down." Amy didn't hold back against her brother. She knew he had fallen out of practise and this would be the best way to knock the rust off of him. She got close to a kill a few times, but he eventually started to deflect the blows. After that she turned her attention to the other two. "Ready?" [6am, need sleep. Infab and Otter have controll over Alex and Amy if they want to finish the training.]
As Owen tried his best to race, he couldn't keep up, as the game was too unrealistic for his taste. "Well, seems I'm really slow in this one" he said as he once again braked where he didn't need to.
"Ready?"
"Ready." said Taylor, preparing herself. She glanced over towards Amelia to see if she was as well.
Amelia was watching a spec of dust fall on her shoulder. She blew it off with a gentle puff, then snapped back into attention after they said, "Ready." "Yes... I-I mean... Ready!" She snaps, clacking her heels.
A few moments later, Amy's barrage of attacks began. Various swings, slashes, and jabs flowed forth towards Amelia and Taylor, alternating between the two so that each would get a decent amount of attacks to block/dodge/deflect as well as a little breathing room. Taylor deflected those that she could, blocked others, and narrowly dodged most of the jabs with fluid movement. A full length sword was strange to use, considering she mostly used her trench knife, which was back in her quarters.
Maddox, having finished his current project, got up and walked into the sparring room. He leaned against the wall and observed the crewmates present in the room as they exercised with swords.
Alex noticed Maddox standing there. "Wanna join in on the fun?"
Maddox shrugged and pulled out a baton. "Why not?"
Amy finished the her attacks as Alex was setting things up with Maddox. Taylor had managed to block many of her attacks and dodge quite a few. Her instincts as a soldier had served her well, but she still got hit at a few places. Nothing practice can't fix. Amelia was another story entirely. While she had imitated Amy to near perfection, her defense was lacking. She could dodge, that was good. But any attempt to block or parry a strike, made her nearly drop her sword several times. A fatal flaw, but one that can be fixed if she put the work in. She put her hand on Amelia's shoulder. "You two did great on the offense, but defense proved to be a chalenge." Amy gave Amelia a comforting look. "It's alright to fail now, so you can succseed later, that's what I learned when I was taught. Bottom line is, Taylor, you need practise and we need training dummies and some way to train your blocking and parry if you wanna keep at it. But you, Amelia, you need to look to avoid your target and keep a big distance between you and them. Tire them out and poke them in the ass when they are too tired to stand up straight. That's all I can help you with. You want to know what the Kinght commander taught Alex, ask him." At the same time Alex had eyed Maddox up. That batton can be a real problem, even a bigger problem when in the hands of a hardened veteran, so he should play it safe. He picked out a short sword and gave Maddox a sign to attack.
Maddox pressed a button on the hilt of the baton, charging it slightly. A hit would send a minor shock through Alex's body. As Alex entered a defensive posture, Maddox rested the baton on his right shoulderpad while circling Alex. With his eyes locked on Alex his visor folded down, showing only a pair of red eyes. He lashed out in a sudden strike, aiming for Alex's legs.
Alex dodged out of the way of the hit, letting Maddox's momentum carry him further. This left the gunsmit's side exposed, Alex saw this and took a swing.
Maddox missed by a thread and quickly realized his mistake. An eerie sound could be heard as Alex's sword scraped against Maddox's armor just as he turned around. Wasting no time, Maddox decided to go for several rapid strikes as Alex was re-maneuvering his sword.
Alex managed to move his sword fast enough to block two of the attacks by Maddox, the third one came too close and the electricity rushed through his body, making him go down on one knee.
Maddox grinned underneath his helmet as he landed a hit on Alex, his grin quickly dissapeared however as Alex managed to swing his sword in a sweeping motion, causing Maddox to fall backwards and land with a loud thud. He quickly rolled away from the sword-wielding chef and entered a defensive stance.
He didn't want to give up, good. Neither did Alex. Tricking him into an attack wouldn't work a second time, so Alex was going to have to go on the offense. Alex charged Maddox only to faint the upper head swing and go for a jab.
Preparing to counter the sword attack, Maddox was unprepared for the sudden jab and took a few uneasy steps backwards following the devastating hit. He shook his head and entered a defensive stance yet again. When Alex decided to charge a second time however Maddox spun to the left and attempted to strike Alex from behind.
