Abraxas raised a hand. "Cut the crap, Weinheart. This is your new crew member, a Physician from the shitty Elysium Combine. Hestia. Now put the knife down or I'll have to tranq you."
'Seems like Abraxas woke up on the wrong side of the bed again... like every other day.' she thinks to herself, grouching. "No need to use the harsh language, doc, just messing around." she lays the life down carefully onto the counter. After puffing her cheeks at Abraxas, she turns her attention towards her newest buddy, Hestia. "Greetings, I'm Amelia. Nice to meet 'cha!" she extends her hand for a handshake.
"Because why not? I can pretty much feed any set of data through my visual cortex to visualize it. So I get curious sometimes and play around with different things. Sometimes I'll take an image or record a vid to post up on the social nets, kind of like posting art or something. It's just something to do for the hell of it really." Hariim replies, finding a seat for himself.
"Thanks for the hand Valk! That's pretty much all the work I needed to get done for now. You want to help me take a look at Frosty's fighter? It's up for a nice tune-up and inspections."
"Yeah. I've been meaning to take a look at it, since he's asked me a few times about some stuff he's wanted to do with it. Beef up the weapons systems, armor, propulsion, everything. He also wants to add a sort of sound wave detector/emitter to it. You know, sorta like sonar mixed with a directional microphone. Fire a sound detecting wave, detect sounds of stuff, and sends it back to the ship....Frosty could probably explain it better than I can. Should talk to him before we do anything to it." said Valkyrie, as she shut down the work station and packed up her calibration tool. "After that, we can do whatever."
Bucky smiles and somehow perks up even more. "Sweet! Vidya and chill or something sound good?" She asks as she walks along toward the bay with Frosty's fighter. She fires off a text to Frosty as well: **"Hey, Frosty. What kinda work didja want done on your fighter? Me and Valk are gonna take a look at it."
Frosty replied to the message.
If possible, I would very much appreciate it if you can make my starfighter a bit more reconnaissance based, as well as giving it a tech upgrade. Also, I spoke to Valkyrie of this idea for a device I had. It works like directional microphone of sorts. It fires a sound wave and sends back any noises it picks up. I drew a picture of it.
He attached a picture of the drawing he showed Valkyrie.
After having demonstrated the TAC for Yanim and Rask, Maddox had continued to work. His current project was a small, but crucial, sideproject which could help save the crew should they ever end up in a position where they need tight defenses. As the project was more or less done, he went out and filled a small crate with martian soil which he carried back to the armory. He put it down and sent a message to Amy.
Amy, I took a look at that blueprint. Come to the armory whenever you want to see it in action. Maddox
"Feel free to drop by anytime if you want more stories, Frosty. Got loads more where that came from." Amy said as she put the device back where she took it from. She contiued eating after Frosty left the room. A few minutes later, the message from Maddox came through. "Oh good." Amy left her quarters and hurried to the armory. "What did you make?" She said as she was rubbing her hands with exitement.
Yuga crossed her legs and opened up the shopping list Hariim had sent to her on her compass and replied to Taylor while reading it. "Very well." she started with a sigh, "We will work with the Mantle... this time. It's undoubtedly what our contractor would have wanted as well. However, you must realize that the more we assist Yanim on her delusional crusades to free the oppressed people we cement ourselves as enemies of the collective. This will me that as our crew grows and it's no longer just two off-worlders they have to worry about they will commit more resources to stop us. Even more so if they find out our contractor is planing on raising an army." Yuga got up from her chair, put on her hat and attached the scabbard to her belt before walking down to the holomap to input the course towards the Sirgas and Voyak. "As for Jag's involvement, I doubt it touches him that much. He is a space terrorist wanted in four major quadrants, not exactly the bleeding heart patriot that would rush to his peoples defense in full fury." She set the coordinates to Voyak and sent a new message to their Yscom contact.
This is captain Shuur again. After a consultation with my first mate we have settled on siding with the Mantle. I have also decided that we will begin our mission on Voyak as soon as possible.
Yuga began walking towards the observation ports of the bridge, releasing a cloud of vapors as she did. She stopped at the window and inspected the carrier that was docked a small distance away. She looked over her shoulder at Taylor. "The Mantle are in a weakened state and the Collective have a strong foothold on this world. I sincerely hope you are ready for an uphill battle, first mate."
Maddox grinned and pointed at a metal device the size of a head. The center of it was circular with a large red top. Four sharp claw-like things were evenly placed around the surface. "Meet the Remote Defensive Ordnance or R-DO for short." Said Maddox as he tapped his fingers on a wrist-mounted datapad. Almost instantly the four claws extended into legs and the mine began to move about across the room. "I did some modifications to the original blueprint and added some stuff I thought it lacked." He pointed at the mine which was climbing across severl boxes. "Programming includes the latest NewGen SmartIntelligence AI with IFF technology. It comes equipped with advanced optical and audio sensors, a compact communications package for relaying info between the mines as well as a standard SDF shaped charge as its primary payload." Maddox turned to the mine. "Dig in!" The mine wasted no time and began a scan of the room. It located the crate full of soil and rushed to it, digging itself into the red earth. "As you can see it responds to voice commands, it can detect and read commands from over a hundred languages." Maddox then tapped the datapad again, forcing the mine to surface before deactivating itself. "What do you think?"
"Spider mines. Like that old movie. I like it. The blueprints said something about the mines being moddable for other things besides explosives. EMP, gas, stun etc. Did you do anything with that?"
Maddox nodded. "I'm still working on those variations. One of the prototypes even has a subsonic catapult for launching 30mm grenades at targets."
"Great! What do you think? Pitch these to the boss and the captain when you're done?"
Hestia step forward and shook Amelia's hand, cautiously. "Greetings to you as well, Miss Weinheart." Hestia said while lightly snaking Amelia's hand. "I look forward to working with both you and Mr. Abraxas in the days ahead." She said nicely as she finished their handshake. --- Jag finished looking out at the skies above Mars and turned towards the center of the bridge. The Sanghvi then proceed to walk up towards the door as it updated it's Implant's personal archive with that of the Muramasa's. However, departing, Jag turned around to look at Taylor over it's left shoulder. "Excuse me, Captain. But could I request myself to volunteer in assisting in leading First Officer Caine's CQB training program?" Jag quietly asked them after they had finished talking with one another. ---
This is Captain Shuur again. After a consultation with my first mate we have settled on siding with the Mantle. I have also decided that we will begin our mission on Voyak as soon as possible.
"Affirmative," An message instantly replied to the Muramasa's bridge. "Patching you through to your acting contact, now." "Hello, I'm Operative 949 or 'Checkered' I'll be your acting contact from here on out, Captain Shuur." Another message laid out after about a second pasted from the last. --- Argos's extensive and thorough rebuilding of the carrier was nearly finished, it's hull sealed from the many scars it persevered through it's long tour of service. Through built to house dozens of attack craft, drop ships along with the commendations for an large number of armed soldiers. But over the years, it's was slowly overhauled into less of an font line assault ship with larger and more better armored ships superseding it. The carrier was instead rebuilt into that forward operating vessel to oversee operations nearly an light year out from the fighting. And with it's latest improvements, it's smaller warp signature and lighter overall weight gave the old vessel versatility over newer and bigger warships. it made the perfect capital ship for the growing Terika-Belladonna Company. Nevertheless, YsCom contractors had finished their work in record time. Thanks to both their cybernetic enhancements and their synthetic equals working along side them. Most of them didn't even know they we're working under Argos but rather another contact given to them by the Combine to work within Sol space. The small amount of Argos staff at hand we're mostly just there to oversee the operation from afar while also dealing with their contract, Miss Terika. The YsCom engineering fleet begin to set course back towards the isolationist system of Elysium, once an fleeing colony under sol. Was now an up and coming independent economic superpower in much of the west quadrants.
"Great! What do you think? Pitch these to the boss and the captain when you're done?"
Maddox nodded. "Once all of the variations are done I'll be sure to notify the captain and our employers." He gestured towards a table full of R-DO pieces. "Besides, they're cheap and effective so I don't see why we wouldn't want a couple of boxes of them."
"I look forward to working with both you and Mr. Abraxas in the days ahead." She said nicely as she finished their handshake.
"And I'm looking forward to working with someone who isn't a Grouchy McGrouch face all the time," she then lowers her hand after looking at Abraxas for a split second after that awful insult, if it could be called that. Rather, childish banter. "So, where did ya learn all your medical training?" Amelia asks.
"The Mantle are in a weakened state and the Collective have a strong foothold on this world. I sincerely hope you are ready for an uphill battle, first mate."
"I'm always ready for a fight, ma'am." said Taylor, nodding. She glanced over, noticing Jag had returned. ....
"Sweet! Vidya and chill or something sound good?"
"Sounds fine. Gonna work on Cerberus later, though. That way, I can get a combat drone out in the field on missions." said Valkyrie, nodding.
Yuga turned around to face Jag, "It is first mate Caine's program so she will decide on that matter." her compass sounded. She had resorted to having the transponder always turned on since the crew was beginning to fill with individuals whom she could not contact mentally. She glanced over at Taylor, "Let's hope you can deliver. Make sure your combat team is ready and informed of the coming operation, I shall give you more details when Checkers has briefed me." She clicked a button on the compass to contact Yanim, "Ms Terika this is captain shuur. We are ready for departure at your command."
"Looking forward to working with a robot other than someone who finds mental retardation cute." Abraxas folded his arms.
((I'm moving back in to my parents' house right now. Just had to blow $50 on a wifi range extender so that I could connect to the internet properly again, and now I'm behind a bit on the RP. I'm sure I'll be making a long post soon and getting the story rolling again, but I have a few more obligations tonight before I can start on that.))
Hestia "I was programmed with 73.2 percent of it while learning the rest over the active life of 8 years." Hestia answered Amelia while she put her hands behind her back as she looked towards Amelia. "May I ask where you learned yours, Miss Weinheart?" Hestia said while tilting her head to right.
Abraxas moved towards the center of the room, seeing the notable stacked papers and books and potions and gun parts. He started moving organized packs to the left, bringing them to the side where most of his workplace was located.
Hestia took a few steps closer towards Abraxas as he begin picking up his equipment, organizing to other side of the med bay. "Mr Abraxas, may I be of some assistance?" Hestia asked him while gesturing to his stacked papers, books and other items around the room.
Abraxas turned to Hestia, shrugging. "Usually I'd say no just because, but yeah fine." He said, moving a box to the left.

Hestia said while tilting her head to right.
"10 years of study, PhD in Biology with an emphasis in Xenobiology at Olympus Mons University." Amelia writes of her credentials, "Although the thing is we haven't had anything to poke at so I haven't actually done anything useful." she adds, looking away while scratching her head. She then leans into Hestia's ear, whispering quietly so Abraxas doesn't hear, "Too be honest, not a lot of people like me. I'm a lil too much for them. Especially the doc here. Pretty sure he would be fine if my entire body burst into flames." she leans back, then walks over to her station. Amelia sits down, swiveling the chair into a nice, comfy position, then opens up a newly published article titled, "Microorganisms of Betelgeuse: Reaction to Uranium 235 in small and large doses."
"I'm a Malmarian you know." Abrax said, overhearing with his super awareness. "I wouldn't be a doctor if I let anyone dead on my watch."
"I'm a Malmarian you know." Abrax said, overhearing with his super awareness. "I wouldn't be a doctor if I let anyone dead on my watch."
"ok" Amelia barks back, looking at her computer.
"Let's hope you can deliver. Make sure your combat team is ready and informed of the coming operation, I shall give you more details when Checkers has briefed me."
"Yes, ma'am." said Taylor with a final salute, before turning to face Jag. "You'll be assisting me with the training of the non-combat crew. Alex will assist as well, when he isn't busy with his cooking duties. Amy, Porter, or Markus would would also make good candidates for assisting us. I'll gather everyone together and make sure the combat team is ready first, then talk with the rest of the crew about the training program."
Hestia begin to helping Abraxas with moving a uneasily large stack of papers towards the left of the room. Her machine precision make sure the papers did not fall out of her hands as she carefully walked to the Abraxas's side of the room. "Interesting." Hestia muttered while listing to Amelia's explanation while she walk to the next to Abraxas, setting down the papers down onto an desk neatly. --- "Affirmative, First Officer Taylor," Jag answered Taylor before gesturing towards the door. "Should we head towards the armory to begin planing of the training exercises?"
"Should we head towards the armory to begin planing of the training exercises?"
"Yep. After you." said Taylor, motioning for him to proceed.
"Understood, First Officer Taylor." Jag said as it slowly turned to the doorway, letting out an short sign from its neck before opening the door. Jag took the first steps while bowing down its head, it's footsteps hit upon the metal floor harder then usual while it walk ahead of Taylor.
