"If I am called up to take a position like that, I will do my best to fufill whatever job you have for me. I'm no stranger to stress of organization and pulling double duty. Even triple."
((I believe the original context is that Hariim is checking for the safety of detonating an explosive, since it isn't guaranteed to work. That means two rolls, one for the check, and one for the bomb, Viper))
The team waited as Hariim and Istasha ran their calculations, trying to figure out whether the roof of the tunnel will hold, whether a submerged bomb will ignite the sewer gasses, and whether any of this would be worth it- the public record didn't show how exactly the outlets were blocked; the workers might have patched over the holes using brick and mortar at a time when the flow wasn't as strong, or they might have welded metal caps onto pipe entrances into lower tunnels... Hell, this whole thing might just be sediment built up from years of sludge flowing through the same tunnel. They set to work, seeking to prove such a move would be safe.
Hariim + Istasha
CH Estimate: 1/4 + 1/6 x 3(Ingenuity) = 3/4
Actual: 2
Roll Passed.
"Well," Istasha said after a long silence, "It's not going to kill us if you throw a grenade in there. The outlets that're supposed to be open are about 12 meters that way." She pointed into the darkness twice, indicating that there should have been outlets on either side of the tunnel. Maddox nodded.
((Autoroll))
Maddox:
CH Estimate: 4/5
Actual: 5
Roll Passed.
Maddox warned everyone to take cover as he pulled the pin on a grenade and lobbed it into the tunnel ahead. It splashed into the disgusting water and, after a moment, caused a dull "thud" which was largely absorbed by the weight of the fluid above, but succeeded in busting a hole through a concrete patch. After a few nervous seconds, there was a loud gurgling noise as the tide of shit rolled back into the tunnel. The team cautiously stepped forward, watching the surface creep backward until they reached the outlet into the septic tank. The sludge stabilized roughly four meters beyond, leaving the path forward only ankle deep in the brown stuff.
"Well, ladies first," Johannes joked to Istasha, stifling a gag.
...
There was a dull groan from the septic tank ahead.
Maddox stopped dead in his tracks as he heard the distant groan ahead. "Did anyone hear that?"
He readied his kinetic rifle. "Ready all non-plasma, laser and explosive weapons."
The team then entered the septic tank.
"If I am called up to take a position like that, I will do my best to fulfill whatever job you have for me. I'm no stranger to stress of organization and pulling double duty. Even triple."
"That's what I like to hear. You may resume whatever you were doing. I'll call you via intercom if I need anything else." said Taylor, with a nod and a smile. "Also, if you see János, tell him that I need to talk to him about what happened regarding Frosty and the man that took him."
After some silence in the sewers, Porter attempts to break it with a dumb joke.
"Well, this is a shitty situation we are in," he then breaks into a hearty laugh. Dumb jokes are the best.
"Yeah, I heard it," Istasha replied. "I'm analyzing the waveform now; I don't want us to run into any surprises..."
As the team dropped from the sewage outlet into the septic tank, there was a massive swell in the center of the tank. The team whipped their lights around to focus on the surge until the surface broke and a gargantuan creature rose out of the muck with a deafening roar!
"Oh fuck, what is that!?" Johannes yelled as he kicked on his jets and jumped back into the outlet passage. "Let's get the hell out of- wargh!" The Dutchman was cut off by a torrent of shit rolling down the outlet pipe into the septic tank, and, carried by the intense current, was thrown back onto the walkway which wrapped around the tank. Whatever outlet the crew had created in the main tunnel which was draining the flow had apparently become saturated and now the fluid was once again emptying into the tank. Johannes wretched as he started to stand, reaching to open his visor so he could vomit.
"Don't open your helmet," Istasha yelled, grabbing hold of him. "The air down here can kill you!"
The thrashing beast had six massive tentacles and innumerable eyestalks jutting out of its bulbous and deformed body, and with a thrust of one of its giant appendages, it put a divot into the wall, blasting chunks of debris over the crew. Back on the Muramasa, Taylor had just turned around from speaking to Alex when images of the Beast With No Name appeared on her monitor.
"What the fuck..." muttered Taylor, watching the monitor. She had been listening to some of the team's comms, so she knew that they couldn't shoot down there. How the hell were they gonna kill THAT thing? She looked back at Alex. "Excuse me." she said simply, before darting past him and out to the bridge. She sat in her chair, and pulled up the feed on a nearby monitor.
Time to explore their options. Kinetic weapons were their only means of attack regarding actual weaponry, unless they tried to attack it with melee. That'd be suicidal, though. They could try and distract the creature long enough to allow everyone to escape the sewer. The problem would be actually distracting the thing. Various options pulsed through Taylor's brain as she watched the feed. Finally, a suitable one popped into her mind.
"Everyone, try and freeze the creature. Then, break it apart with kinetic-based weaponry or just run. Do NOT miss, though. You can't risk sparks setting off the methane down there." said Taylor, broadcasting to the away team.
((wait, are those jets thermal? wouldn't that be worse than gunfire?))
((wait, are those jets thermal? wouldn't that be worse than gunfire?))
((They're just compressed gas))
"Everyone, try and freeze the creature."
Porter looks to Istasha and points at her cryo grenades, then looks towards Maddox, "Maddox, I suggest we throw those," he then flings his machine gun around to hold the minigun that was attached to his back, "I'll fire this at it. Run for the exit as it's occupied."
His minigun spins up.
After a moment of hesitation, Istasha nodded. "Right, here," she said, handing one over to Maddox. She started to hand one over to Johannes before remembering that the latter didn't need them.
"Alright," he coughed. "Ready when you are, Maddox."
As the creature appeared Maddox marked for the squad to space out.
"Porter! Surpressive fire. Johannes, freeze those eye stalks! Jag! Focus on the tentacles! Hariim, scan the area and check if there's any tech down here that could help us! Koval; do your thing."
He took the cryo grenade, twisted its cap and tossed it ontop of the creature.
Just as Porter is about to fire with the fully revved up minigun, he remembers that firing it would actually blow themselves up in the process. He lets go of the trigger, then looks towards Maddox.
"How about we throw those cryo grenades..." he then points to the exit, "and run?"
While sculling down within the sewers, Jag pressed on unshaken by the various stenches.
Through it's state of mind was still preoccupied with individual that had apprehended the body of Frosty.
The brittler chill that coiled around within it's inner body still lingered after it's meditation.
Through the sudden of appearance of this septic monster that come before them got hold of the Sanghvi's full attention.
Jag quickly scanned the area around it and this disgusting creature standing before them.
Yet, the dangerous sight it found was team leader's own commands.
"Enforcer Porter, ignore that order." Jag said strongly while hastily glancing towards Maddox.
"Team leader Maddox, Do I need to remind you about the methane fumes surrounding us?"
Jag told him while moving closer to strike down any weakness it can find.
Markus stood in awe for a split second, looking wide eyed at the monstrosity in front of them. I was a big game man but this was right down 'Fuck This' Avenue
He snapped to it and raised his rifle, firing a needle at one of the monsters eyes.
He then promptly did a 180 and observed if he could get past the monster to get to the ladder, "Yer welcome to stay in the shit soup, I'm outta here."
"Follow the damn order, convict!" Maddox glanced at Jag. "Kinetic slugs aren't igniting and neither are your sharp appendages."
He looked at Porter. "Twist the cap and hope for the best."
"Twist the cap and hope for the best."
Porter does exactly that. With some steam flowing out his mask, he hurls it towards the monster, aiming right for the middle.
The sorcerers and artisynth elite guard were bickering back and forth while Frosty was quite literally standing in the center of it all. Moloch had brought him in to present to the rest of the artisynth as they were now one step closer to finding out whatever happened to their hero, their champion, their leader. Some were excited on seeing a lost member of their kind while others were upset, thinking Moloch is simply wasting their time on what could possibly be just an ordinary rank and file member of their species. Frosty was growing increasingly anxious as Moloch and the others were speaking to eachother in a language which made him less comfortable as they spoke it.
"[Moloch, you fool! How do we know this is the man you seem to think he is?]" said one sorcerer to Moloch.
"[With my own eyes, I saw this man soar through the sky in one of our ancient star fighters we flew during our final war! He destroyed two enemy fighters and, quite brutally, rammed his craft into one of the enemy pilots, killing them!]"
"[Any one of our pilots could fly like that, Moloch! Especially those trained by Chemosh!]"
"[Then wouldn't you believe this man perhaps knows what became of him? Chemosh and his wingmen were the only missing ones of us who did not arrive here at Karbala!]"
"[For Allah's sake! This man does not even know his own name! How could he know what became of Chemosh?]"
"[I have explained this already! He has amnesia! Let him dwell in his thoughts for a week, then he will begin to remember!]" Moloch was getting agitated. Frosty tried to speak to see if he could calm him, but the rest of the room all focused on him the moment he said something. One of the elites spoke out.
"[You know, perhaps we ought to speak to him directly? He may not remember even his own name, but perhaps he may know something else.]" The elite stepped forward towards Frosty. "Tell me, child, what do you know about yourself?"
"W-Well... I'm called 'Frosty' by a mercenary crew that found me frozen in space, and took me in as their own. I also know that I was apparently some sort of pilot, and flew very well." said Frosty.
"A mercenary crew you say? Who were they? What were they like?"
"A mercenary company called the Terika-Belladonna Company, or TBC for short. Their objective was to liberate the oppressed people's of this galaxy, and the crew I was with were a mixed bunch. We had people from different races such as Ayr, Vakr, Kanads, Humans..."
When Frosty uttered the word 'humans', each face in the room turned to a frown pointed at him. They seriously did not like hearing that word.
The same sorcerer who argued with Moloch earlier let out a grunt as he adjusted his headband.
"Ugh! [Not only has he got nothing inside his head, he is also tainted as well! They even gave him a RIDICULOUS name! Moloch, why did you decide to bring him here!?]"
"[He is the key to bringing our people out of destruction! He is the first step to resurrecting the Ummah! His curse of forgetfulness is no more and all that remains is for him to remember! Our people will rise once again and we will finish the war which drove us from our promised land!]"
While Frosty did not understand what Moloch was saying, it almost felt like he could for a moment. He spoke up again.
"...The crew I was with, they were very nice people and I got along with them very well. But, right now they need me! They're on a very dangerous mission which could get all of them killed! I need to go back to them before they all end up dead!"
"Unfortunately, Frosty, we cannot allow you to leave until you have your true identity returned to you. You underestimate just how 'valuable' you are to us." said the sorcerer in quite a mocking tone.
"Leave it alone, Beherit. Even though he may not be who we think he is, he is still one of our people and we need to care for him as such. Many things have changed among our people since our exodus, and he needs to be brought up to speed." said one of the elite. "Mr. Frosty, as stated previously, we cannot let you go. However, you are more than welcome to tour around Karbala. We have a cabin prepared for you aboard our flagship, and we have made sure to accommodate it to our highest standards."
"I will take him there. Follow, Mr. Frosty." Moloch motioned to Frosty to follow him. As the two began to exit, Moloch turned around and looked at the group.
"[Let this be known to all of you. Time has proven, without any doubts, that I am the wisest of our people, as well as the eldest and most experienced. Not once have I ever been proven wrong under any circumstances. I know exactly who this man is, and if I ever had any doubt, would I have confidently presented him to you all under the pretense of who he might be? Wait and see, give it time, and see...]"

Hariim keeps on the move and minds his sensors while he monitors the nets. He follows the order from Maddox, and immediately begins an active scan for any active networked tech he can infiltrate and put to use. He also extends the bayonet on his rifle, just in case.
((I just got back from visiting my girlfriend down in Tampa and attending Comic Con there. Time to get things rolling again.))
Once the team had gotten its priorities straightened out, Jag led the attack on the horrible creature (Agility). Following Maddox's order, the sanghvi hurled itself against one of the beast's tentacles, stabbing its own limbs into the giant's in hopes of discovering a weakness.
Jag: 1 x 1.5 x Dismemberment(CH1/2, 1, Failed) = 1.5... 2 DMG
Plunging its talons into the creature's flesh, Jag was met with a jet of pressurized fluids from the gash it created, as if it had hit an artery. However, the wound closed itself practically instantly after the rocky appendages were clear of the entry point. The monster thrashed its tentacle around, attempting to throw jag against the wall.
Beast With No Name:
CH Estimate: 3/4
Actual: 4
Roll Passed.
The force of the giant being's movement was enough to catapult Jag loose from the tentacle. Flipping through the air, the sanghvi crashed into the wall of the septic tank and tumbled back down to the walk way. 25 DMG
Jag HP: 45/50
Having observed the ineffectuality of attacking the tentacles, the team then decided to focus exclusively on the eyes. Maddox, Istasha, Porter, and Johannes all advanced at once, cryo grenades and projectile cooling in concert.
CH Estimate: 1/8 + 3/8(Ingenuity) + 1/8 + 2/8 = 7/8
Actual: 6

The beast raised its mighty arm to try to block the projectiles, but it was too heavy and slow to shield itself from the barrage. One by one, the canisters exploded, flash-freezing the eye stocks and inducing intense pain, as well as increasing the monster's vulnerability. 50 DMG
Markus, frightened into a near panic, nonetheless fired his rifle accurately at one of the many eyes which were now fixated and unblinking. With enough luck, he might even shatter the orb completely.
CH Estimate: 2/3
Actual: 1
Roll Failed.
Alas, the nail was too small to break the melon-sized eyeball apart, but it inflicted terrific pain upon the creature, as it was not able to see the attack coming.
Markus: 8 x 3(Ambusher) = 24 DMG
Having scored a hit, Markus felt emboldened to run for the ladder in an attempt to escape, but as his boots hit the first rungs, the creature locked onto the sound and stabbed at it.
Beast With No Name:
CH Estimate: 2/5
Actual: 1
Roll Failed.
Without its eyesight, the creature wasn't able to see that Markus had climbed high enough to avoid the attack. Its tentacle tore the bottom rungs out of the wall; in fact, it tore some of the wall out of the wall. Markus was quite lucky at this point, and had the choice of either climbing out to safety and abandoning his teammates, or to continue shooting from his vantage point, which might later prove very risky. Down below, Hariim worked to find a technical solution to the problem.
CH Estimate: 2/5
Actual: 3
Roll Failed.
It appeared that there were no electronically-controlled devices within the plumbing below the processing plant.
"Got nothing on useful electronics, Mad!" Hariim reports. He makes for the exit with the cover of the squad. He decides to take a little charge in order to help with everybody's escape. "Everybody! Toss flash grenades if you got them, or put any laser weapons you have on non-lethal power and laze its eyes! If you lower the power enough, you won't set off the gas!"
"Johannes! Freeze that big motherfucker too!"
Hariim lights up his sensor array and focuses it on the monster, designating the eyes and other weakpoints on the thing to help his squadmates with shot placement or avoiding the tentacles when they swing around.
Maddox gritted his teeth. He had faced frenzied Creed crusaders in combat and lived to tell the tale; no monster covered in feces and sewage was going to make him run.
He took up a stable firing position and opened fire with his kinetic rifle, sending a swarm of kinetic slugs flying towards the monster.
After being thrashed about, Jag quickly recovered and resuming fighting stance.
Jag proceeded to lock it's implant's targeting system onto the creature's eyes.
The Sanghvi then hastily gathered speed, grabbing onto the rusted steel pipes running up the wall.
Between climbing up on them and the occasional lose brick. Jag was able to rise around height of the creature's eye stalks.
Jag stabbed it's tentacles into the stone wall before breaking off to throw itself once more at the monster.
Markus was too pumped up on adrenaline to take note of the ladder stairs being swept form under him.
As he climbed the steps he paused to look down at the commotion that was still going on below.
With a troubled expression on his face he looked up at the manhole opening above and back to the crew underneath several times.
He grunted and locked himself in place to the ladder by using his arm and leg and took new aim at monster, trying to locate weaknesses from his new vantage point.

Meanwhile, at Moklan's Diner, Jugmach Cargo Station.
Moklan was cleaning a glass while Captain Mihok sat at the bardisk, smoking the khergian special Taubor red label when the door suddenly swung open.
"Ya'll got discounts for famous people?"
In the doorway stood an Aracaan, more universally known as scorpion or Duroma breed, with a wide grin on her face.
Dressed in a attire that very clearly mimicked that of the old Terran wild west, her two lower hands in the pockets of her coat while the other were placed on her hips.
She walked over to the counter with a swagger, the seemingly aesthetic spurs in her boots and the bandoliers jingling as she did.
She hopped up on one of the chairs and her tail curled in under it as she did. She leaned onto the counter with her two right arms, looking at Moklan.
Moklan put down the glass and looked at the Aracaan, "Depends on what you're famous for." he said.
The Aracaan let out a chirping laugh as her mandibles vibrated and took out a paper from one of the inside pockets of her coat, "This oughta be enough, hoss."
The paper in question was a wanted poster and it read.

Wanted Alive
Mahjis'Tomon
Alias: Sting
Wanted by Sol authorities for the following crimes:
Smuggling
Assault
Possession of unregistered firearms
Operation of unregistered transport
Public indecency
Vehicle operation while under the influence
Reward: 10.000 GC
Moklan looked up from the poster and saw Sting was about to drink from her own flask.
"Drinking your own beverages in this bar is not allowed." he said calmly.
Sting stopped halfway and cut Moklan a glare before putting her flask away, "Listen here now, you gotta have your own party liquor round these parts. Hell, your dranks ain't worth a damn. Couldn't even get one o' them feeblians sideways if you waterboarded that sum'bitch with it."
Moklan frowned slightly as his establishment was insulted, but he kept his composure.
"I suppose I could give you a glass of this." he said as he reached for a bottle of Valhalla gin.
As soon as he was done pouring the glass, Sting grabbed it and swept it in one go.
She let out a satisfied breath and slammed the glass back onto the counter.
Moklan, who was now grinning, leaned back and crossed his arms, "How's the flavour taste?"
Sting smacked her lips while waving a finger around, "It's... warm.. robust.. and just a tiny undertone of..."
She suddenly stopped, her arm going limp and her eyes becoming cloudy with a stare clearly fixated on one of the lamps in the roof.
"... the untamed wilditude of nature exploding in the space where ya brain used to live."
She leaned over the counter, staring at the wall half a meter to the right of Moklan while she still appeared to be talking to him, "Take sip and ya'll see... but not for long."
Uttering the last sentence she collapsed on the counter while Moklan picked up his washcloth and began cleaning Sting's now empty glass.
Jag recovered quickly and bounded back into the fight, launching from the wall of the tank into the center and aiming for a strike at the eyes of the beast. To do so, it would need to avoid being struck by one of the creature's huge flailing limbs.

The eye practically exploded from the pressure inside fighting against the brittleness of the surface, with Jag's attack being the final straw. With plenty of power on the follow through, the sanghvi set itself upon what seemed to be the creature's head, tearing deep gashes into the surface. Again, the deep wounds sprayed fountains of clear bodily fluid before zipping themselves closed, but more slowly than they had before.
The beast roared and lifted its appendages high into the air before throwing them against the top of its frozen head, trying to crush Jag before it could escape.

Before Jag could dismount, the giant tentacles crashed into it and scraped the sanghvi off the top of the creature's head. Painfully, the sanghvi tumbled end over end into the muck of the septic tank. 30 DMG
Jag HP: 15/70
Maddox, who up to this point had avoided shooting for fear of striking Jag, now had the opportunity to strike at the monster's eyes. Using a weapon built around electromagnetic acceleration, he fired kinetic slugs at the beast in an effort to further harm its heavily-wounded eyes.

Maddox: 10 x 1.25(Machinist) = 12.5... 13 DMG
While the slugs failed to shatter another eye, the beast was still wounded by the concussive blasts which chipped away at its frostbitten flesh. More jets of body fluid could be seen flying through the air as it bellowed its disapproval. Johannes was the next to step up, pulling out his sword. He was careful not to engage the plasma function, as this would ignite the gas, but he nonetheless leaped forward with his jets in order to strike as Jag did, aiming for the eyes. Like Jag, he needed to avoid the tentacles on the way in.
CH Estimate: 3/4
Actual: 4

Descending through the air unimpeded, Johannes didn't have time to consider whether his cold blade would be sharp enough to cut the beast's flesh. He swung hard as he fell, hoping to shatter an eye with a baseball-like swing.

Another eye exploded into mushy guts, causing the beast to let out a more frantic, horrible cry than before. It was getting more desperate, as if it were half dead already. It reared back, and Johannes nearly lost his footing. He stabbed into the flesh in an attempt to hold on, but the creature reacted much the same to his attack as it had done to Jag.

The limbs came crashing in, harder than ever before. Johannes was slammed hard against the creature's head before tumbling limply onto the walkway, smacking his shoulder against the railing and nearly dislocating his shoulder. He quickly scrambled back to his feet, signalling to the team that he was okay, but he was definitely a bit slower than before. 35 DMG
Johannes HP: 85/100
With another crew member having been bucked off the monster, it was now Markus's turn to fire on the creature. Having turned up the pneumatic pressure on his rifle, he fired another nail at an exposed eye. Once again, the creature could not see it coming.

x3 DMG
Markus: 6 x 3(Ambusher) = 18
54 DMG
Another eye was blown apart, and the monster let out an agonized wail. It was beginning to understand that it was being slain, and would fight on with the ferocity of all hell, even as cuts on its head and on one of its tentacles began to reopen and spill blood. There was just one problem for the crew- the last eye hadn't shattered, per say, but rather tore open and into shreds. The beast was thawing out, and with its remaining eyes, could once again see its opponents. Markus, well hidden in his vantage point up on the ladder, was safe from its vengeful onslaught, which was thrown against Maddox instead.
CH Estimate: 3/4
Actual: 1

The tentacles swung earthward, but Maddox dove out of the way just in time to avoid a blow which literally split the concrete open like a piece of fine china dropped from a high shelf. Istasha, who had been standing nearby, was grabbed by Porter at the same moment, preventing her from being crushed by the attack as well. Having ascertained the growing temperature of the creature's body, she alerted the team.
"We're in trouble if we don't re-freeze it!" she warned. "Take some more grenades," she insisted, handing one to Maddox and one to Porter. "Whenever you're ready!"
Johannes took note from across the chamber and prepared his own blast of ice for the job.
[editline]8th August 2016[/editline]
((Btw, Blorgy, I didn't mean to overlook you, it's just that I'm having trouble figuring out how Hariim's input could improve the crew's accuracy any further. Markus is also blocking the exit at the moment, and so I didn't have Hariim climb the ladder just yet.))
Maddox nodded and tossed another cryo grenade.
Mercy, who has, up until this point, done nothing noteworthy, and just kinda stared in awe at the ((great mighty)) poopmonster, occasionally dodging some of its blows. Noticing Jag's painful tumbling, she shakes her head, snapping out of whatever trance she was in.
Running over to Jag, while giving a couple quick bursts into the center mass of the monster with her kinetic SMG, she kneels down beside him, quickly taking out some medical supplies, attempting to perform triage on him. "I've... never worked on someone like you before, I don't sink... but, zere's a first time for everysink, right?"
Jag twisted for a moment in pain before getting back onto it's feet once more.
The Sanghvi's shell bore a long crack running down it's torso.
After letting out a long breath through it's neck, Jag looked back at the obstacle laying ahead of the team.
It knelled down, rising it's cloak to reveal the various grenades it had stored along it's belt.
Jag had implant begin to link into it's small number of temperature based grenades.
Now configuring them to donated under the methane's flashpoint while assisting in freezing this oversized nuisance.
"I've... never worked on someone like you before, I don't sink... but, zere's a first time for everysink, right?"
Jag gave her a quick nod, "Medic Mercy," Jag said in a rushed tone while dealing with it's armaments.
"Here is the most serious injury." Jag said while rising it's arms, showing the crack on it's shell to her.
"Nano gel along it followed by quick cerement after a minute after."
Jag told her before readying to throw it's rearmed grenades towards the septic monster.
Configured to subdue the creature with their icily contents through unable to fully freeze the beast like an conventional cryo weapon.
As soon as the elevator doors opened up the SDF squad stormed onto the bridge of Brakavic Station. Flashlights and laser sights scanned the darkened room for potential threats, eventually they all stopped while focused on something at the center of the room.
"Sol preserve us..." Mumbled Warren quietly.
At the center of the bridge stood a massive hulking figure. Electrical wiring intertwined with flayed skin still dripping with blood. Despite having two metal legs and two metal arms the creature had dozens of human limbs crudely attached all over its uneven surface.
Ares slowly raised his flashlight, revealing a deformed face with no eyes.
Dried bloodstains covered the cheeks, suggesting that blood had flowed from the now empty eye sockets. Mounted ontop of the head was a small screen, having been torn off from one of the bridge computers.
Large cables were connected to the creature and several pieces of equipment inside the bridge.
"It's connected to the control room. The creature is controlling the station." Said Mercury with a worried tone.
Having noticed the new group of visitors the head looked up. A eerie deep laugh echoed inside the bridge.
"H--h-have you come t-to see the f-f-future?"
The soldiers widened their eyes just as the creature made a leap forward. "Take cover!" Yelled Gladius seconds before the creature slammed into the group.
Ares and several of his men were swept aside. If not for the heavy armor they wore it would've been a fatal blow, however the Diamondback survivors were not as lucky.
Zenith screamed out loud as one of her legs snapped against a metal strut while Kilo was left unconscious due to a hard collission with a crate, leaving Bull the only operator standing.
"Open fire!" Yelled Warren at the top of his lungs.
The soldiers who were still standing or who had recovered quickly immeadiately opened fire at the hulking creature, tearing of flayed skin, twisted human limbs and electrical components.
"Your bodies will serve the cause!" Said the creature while laughing right before making a move for one of the SDF soldiers. Frozen in place the soldier saw his life pass by right untill he was pushed out the way by Warren who was grabbed instead.
A large metal fist took hold of the SDF veteran and held him several meters above the floor.
Hydraulic pistons began moving as the creature clenched its fist while laughing maniacally. Warren gritted his teeth and let out a scream of agony as the armor gave away.
Those close enough could hear the lieutenant's ribs crack as the pressure increased. "Commander! We need to do something now!" Yelled Mercury as he deployed a energy shield followed by a aggressive tackle in an attempt to catch the attention of the creature.
Gladius dropped his weapon and deployed a pair of wristblades before rushing in. He made several upward blows, tearing off more and more of the creature which screamed loudly when one of the metallic arms came off.
It dropped Warren who was pulled to safety by Bull, the latter unloading yet another magazine while moving backwards. With Mercury and Gladius going up close and personal, the rest of the squad quickly used the time to form a circle.
Ares, who had now recovered from being tossed around like a toy, grabbed a grenade and twisted the top. "Commander, I need an opening!"
Gladius nodded and looked towards Mercury. "Go for the foot."
Mercury nodded and slammed his energy shield downward and through a combination of the famous Boome Marine willpower and luck the shield managed to cut off half the foot.
The creature yelled even louder and tried to hit Mercury with its remaining arm.
Ceasing the opportunity Gladius jumped upwards and dugs his wristblades into the mixed metal-flesh surface of the creature around the neck.
Using all of his weight he forced the creature to lean backwards, its mouth opened as it continued to scream.
"Fire in the hole!" Yelled Ares as he tossed the grenade towards the creature.
Through years of combat experience, training and with the help of his helmet HUD the grenade made its way into the creature's mouth.
A look of confusion came over the creature's face as it swallowed the grenade out of sheer reflex.
"W-w-what have you d-done?"
"Hit the deck!" Yelled Ares right before the grenade detonated.
...
Gladius shook his head and got up. A mixture of oil and blood covered his armor. "Report."
The SDF soldiers got up with some having suffered minor bruising.
Warren, Zenith and Kilo were still incapacitated. Warren breathed rapidly in small breaths, trying to not expand the lungs and therefore collide with the broken ribs. Zenith was gritting her teeth due to the pain and Kilo was still unconscious.
Gladius pointed at the wounded. "Wounded, gather up. Medics, you got work to do. Mercury and Ares, with me."
The trio then procceeded to the main control panel on the bridge and with some trickery at the hands of the Boome Marine mercenary the systems came online.
Slowly the window shutters opened up and revealed the space outside alongside the SNV Shadow. "Shadow this is Gladius, we got eyes on you. How copy, over?"
"Solid copy Commander, good to hear your voice. The camera feed looked a bit awful for a moment there."
Ares grunted and looked at Gladius. "Situation has been resolved. We are ready to transmit station data to a secure storage unit, stand by for transfer. Gladius out."
Gladius then looked at Mercury who nodded in response just a screen turned green.
"Shadow to Gladius, package received. A team is going through it now."
Gladius was about to respond when Mercury interrupted his train of thought. "Commander, take a look at this."
On the screen was live footage from the sealed up hangar. It was now easy to understand why the blast doors had been closed and the area sealed off.
At the center of the hangar was a large freight vessel with dozens of belly-mounted containers in varying colors and sizes.
Around the ship were hundreds of cyborg creatures working non-stop with converting humans into the same twisted creatures as they were.
"We need to set this place to self-destruct." Said Gladius.
Mercury nodded. "I can put it on a thirty minute timer, is that enough?"
"More than enough. Make it fifteen."
"Squad, prepare to move." Yelled Ares as he and Gladius left Mercury to work undisturbed at the control panel.
Gladius opened the comms channel to the Shadow. "Be advised Shadow, station is compromised. A complete mop-up would require more manpower than available. Heavy SDF casualties anticipated. We're rigging the station to self-destruct and then we're pulling out."
"Acknowledged Gladius, Shadow is on stand-by for recovery. Good luck."
"Let's go squad." Said Gladius as the team regrouped inside the elevators. Back the control panel a timer had begun with red numbers counting down untill Brakavic Station would be turned into debris.
...
"Don't stop!" Yelled a Ares covered in blood from the cyborgs. The squad was making solid progress towards the point of entry.
They rushed through the corridors with relative ease as most of the roaming cyborgs had been taken care of earlier.
Working as one the SDF squad managed to eliminate any incoming threat without losing any momentum. Soon they passed through the canteen.
"Hang on buddy, we're almost there." Said Mercury while carrying Warren who only nodded in response.
Finally they reached the first hallway which lead to one of the airlocks which in turn was connected with the Diamondback ship. The two SDF soldiers left behind to guard the ship appeared and covered the squad's retreat.
"Everybody in!" Yelled Ares as he watched the door. With a short salvo of precision kinetic fire he took down the last pursuers.
Meanwhile inside the ship the wounded were escorted to the medbay.
Bull sat down in the pilot seat with Gladius standing next to him. "Whenever you're ready, contractor."
The Diamondback contractor smirked right before overriding the lockdown protocol, giving him full access to the ship.
"Hold on to your hats."
The ship shook and then detached from the station, the last ship to do so.
"SNV Shadow we're in the clear and coming to you." Said Gladius.
"Understood Gladius. We'll keep the door open."
Gladius was about to tell Ares something when the station exploded, incinerating the evil creatures and their work onboard.
The team let out a deep collective sigh.
Mercy fired on the beast from the hip with a kinetic SMG, trying to cover the other crewmembers who were prepping their cryo weaponry.
Mercy: 9 x (No Feat Applicable) = 9 DMG
The bullets smashed into the creature's flesh, opening up more holes in its heavily wounded body as she slide to the ground where Jag had just hoisted itself out of the tank. Before it accepted Mercy's help, Jag joined in the crew's efforts to ice up the creature, along with Johannes, Istasha, and Maddox. While Johannes once again relied on his coolant to freeze the beast, Istasha fired a grenade from her launcher, and Maddox relied on his arm.
CH Estimate: 1/16 + 1/8x2(Cryokinesis) + 1/8x3(Ingenuity) + 1/8 = 13/16
Actual: 5
Roll Passed.
With four teammates working in concert, the task was accomplished handily. Ice was caked onto the top of the beast, once again freezing its vulnerable eyes and robbing the creature of its ability to see. The beast groaned, its giant tentacles scraping against the walls helplessly as it lurched in the sludge, its body nearly tipping over. 50 DMG
Mercy, taking the opportunity to tend to Jag before the monster could lash out again, did her best to stabilize the cracks in its shell.
CH Estimate: 1/4
Actual: 4
Roll Passed.
+ 35 HP
Jag HP: 50/50
Following Jag's advice, Mercy was able to quickly and safely restore the sanghvi to full fighting form.
