Taylor wandered back down to the armory where she found Mad, Markus, and a new crew member talking. "Hey guys. And girl." she said, walking up.
"And you are?" Dio raised an eyebrow.
"Ah yes, I have a solution for that." Abraxas looked closer, he went over to open a cabinet, revealing two canisters, pulling out the one labeled disinfectant spray and water, and a case marked by a red cross. Abrax went around to check Alex's back and sprayed. Then as the finishing touch he pulled out band aids Humans will definitely like. He placed three band aids on his back forming a cross with a big patch bandage while Abraxas molded the last band aid on his nose with two fingers.
"Will that be cash or credit?"
"Neither, I don't pay you." Alex started to leave the room before turning around "Don't be too happy with yourself smart guy, next to the kennel matches, this is nothing." He went out of medbay and straight to his quarters. He send a message while getting rid of Abraxas joke.
I'm not voting for anyone. I'll trust that the rest of the crew will make the right call.
-Alex
He crashed on his bed and that night he had dreams. Deams of the dredded kennel matches.
"How's the mess hall sound? Probably not the quietest place right now considering all the drinkers we have onboard, but it's got the best network connection on the ship."
"Sure," János responded, as the two headed for the mess hall. As they entered, the election announcement came through.
"An election?" he said in an observant tone.
Owen was trying to sleep when the announcement came through and woke him up. An extremely tired Owen sent a message back.
Do we have to do this now? Trying to sleep, darn it.
Frosty had no cabin to sleep in, and everyone else was probably asleep already so he couldn't ask if he could bunk with them.
So he did the next best thing. He tried to fall asleep on the cold floor right underneath the access port. It was uncomfortable as hell, but it beat staying awake throughout the night.
Hariim mulls over the announcement, and takes his time figuring out his choice. Ultimately he shoots off a private message confirming his vote. After that he performs a last check on the ship's computer systems for lack of anything better to do, and notices Frosty languishing on the deck, and sighs to himself. Hariim goes down to Frosty and nudges him with a foot. "Hey, get up popsicle. You can hot-bunk with me tonight."
I vote for Yanim. She's the one that dragged this outfit together in the first place right? When are we picking the XO by the way?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Bucky perks up a bit when the announcement comes through, but shrugs after a moment. "Weird. Thought we were trying to not use a hierarchy. Who you gonna vote for, John?"
Frosty twitched around like a fish out of water before getting up.
"Oh! I can? Thank you, Hariim."
Frosty finally stood up and followed Hariim.
"You know, I was thinking about you earlier and I have one of those... bothersome personal questions to ask. Those cybernetics of yours... are they hack-proof?"
Sledge opened up his communicator and cast his vote:
I vote for Alex. Make Great Burritos Again™.
"You know, I was thinking about you earlier and I have one of those... bothersome personal questions to ask. Those cybernetics of yours... are they hack-proof?"
Hariim looks at Frosty like he's just been asked to explain why it's bad to get spaced. But he answers anyways: "To hack my chrome they'd have to hack me. All my implants do is augment or replace my existing brain matter and eyes, and it's all tied into my brain. To get at my implants somebody would have to hack my grey matter, it wouldn't work any other way, and there's no way to hack a neuron." Hariim arrives at his quarters with Frosty just as his explanation ends.
"Oh. I was worried that if we were ever against a tech savvy enemy, they may try to turn you against us. Please, forgive me for asking such a stupid question."
With that knowledge in mind, Frosty was certain to cast his vote for Hariim. Once he was awuainted as to which cabin belonged to Hariim, he excused himself for a moment, and came back no sooner than he left.
I vote for Hariim.
"Weird. Thought we were trying to not use a hierarchy. Who you gonna vote for, John?"
János paused for a moment. For some reason, the idea of voting seemed odd to him. To avoid sounding weird, he thought of something quick; "I'm probably not going to vote. I think the others are smart enough to pick a leader for the ship. What about you?" he asked her.
Hariim has clearly divided his bunk into two sections. He's already passed out, and sleeps quietly.
-----------------------------------------------------------------
Bucky shrugs again. "Captain or no captain, my job stays the same. I think I'm gonna abstain too." She finds a good table and sits down with Janos. She smiles across the table at him.
"And you are?" Dio raised an eyebrow.
"Taylor Caine. I was the chick in the power armor back in the hotel." said Taylor, glancing towards Dio.
János smiled back at Bucky, just happy to be hanging out with her. He wasn't exactly sure what kind of feelings he was feeling, but he liked them.

"Soooo. We just going to sit here and smile at each other, or are we going to do something? Whaddya wanna do? Stream a movie? Marathon a series? Play a game or something?" Bucky asks. She shifts in her seat a little bit and gets comfortable.
"Well, what do you recommend? I haven't really been following movies, or shows, or games...." János told her in a slightly nervous tone.
"Well~ I can stream one of my games out here. My mini-comp is all set up for that, and it's got a holo-projector. You got your phone on you?" Bucky pulls out her mini-comp and starts it up. The little thin slab projects a holographic home screen above the table after a second, and then Bucky pulls up her extensive game library.
Frosty got undressed all the way down to his underpants. He went to examine his snowy pastiness in Hariim's mirror.
He was rather lean, and quite thin. His body could really use some muscle mass on it. Perhaps he should ask Sledge what his secret is to being so fucking RIPPED. Looking down, he saw his feet. He only has two toes on each foot! At first, he was worried that his feet had been secretly bisected and mutilated while in stasis, but then he realized that's how many he's supposed to have.
After his minor freakout, he carefully entered his part of the bed, and tried to sleep.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Moloch got out of his bed. To stay holed up in a star system where not even the sun will shine on you is something fit only for an animal, and he and his people were once a proud race. He couldn't stay another night, he had to leave. Though first, he needed to prepare his things and tell the rest of his brothers that he was leaving. He pulled out a touchpad and started writing.
My friends, I am sorry, but I have to do this. I cannot stay in this system anymore, and I need to leave for a while. Things for our people have been horrible ever since our exodus. You already know how hard we tried to motivate our people again, but we couldn't. I'm going on a journey of sorts, just so I can see what the rest of this galaxy is like. I would at least like to know what it's like to walk on grass barefoot one last time before I expire. Do not worry about me too much, I will return eventually.
With that, he left his house and crossed the cold sands into the grand hangar where his personal shuttle was. Shortly after, he left the darkness of the system and went out into the galaxy.
"You got your phone on you?"
János nodded, as he pulled out his average-looking phone. He watches as Bucky pulls her game library up. He is impressed.

"Good! Sync it with my comp, and you should get the option to install the gamepad app. That way I don't have to go digging around in my room for my controllers." Bucky scrolls through her library for a bit, and finally selects a game. Booster Bashers XIII, a popular combat racing game with a casual leaning. It's a fun game to play with friends. "Dibs on Player 1!" She exclaims.
János did as she said and synced his phone up. He installed the app as soon as he got the option for it. He quickly entered in as Player 2 in the game. "I'm fine with being second banana," he quipped.
Bucky giggles and starts up a basic race after syncing her own phone to her comp. She picks a white-and-gold hover racer, and presses the 'Ready Player 1' button. "Hope you don't mind me beating your ass, cupcake. I was the high-score holder of this back at my old home port!"
János laughed. He picked the standard-looking hover racer and pressed the 'Ready Player 2' button. "Prepare to be satisfied in yourself then."
"You're ballsy taking the Thermite Termite on your first time. Hope your ego isn't inflated, Johnny boy." Bucky taunts as the game finishes loading onto a randomized map. A big double figure-eight. Sparkling power up cubes and flashy booster and shield-power pads litter the track. The 10 second countdown timer starts, and Jano's controller app flashes a few quick tutorial messages about what the different buttons and sticks do. Bucky seems laser-focused. Her sharp artificial eyes flick over the holo projection with inhuman speed as she takes in and processes all the information presented. Modern AI and robotics is a helluva beautiful thing to watch.
János was quite nervous, as he wasn't really a gamer. He had just picked what looked like the most normal looking hover racer and Bucky called him ballsy. He looked at the tutorial messages quickly, but he missed one of them. He hoped he didn't miss anything important. He looked at the holo projection, ready to be beaten to a pulp by someone with a lot more time.
Owen tried to sleep, but the anxiety of the upcoming race coupled with the previous fight made it very difficult. He noticed he had an unread message from Valk. Owen typed out his response.
Alright, be getting an idea of what you'd like to do
See you at the pit practice.

Yanim watched her tablet as the results came in while recovering in the medbay. The results were mixed. The winner of the captain's seat would ultimately take the position by one vote; not exactly confidence building. She sighed. This was not how she imagined new leadership taking form within her company.
Having been patched up, she walked back to her quarters and retrieved a wooden keepsake box about the size of a bread loaf from a shelf beside her bed. She carried it to the bridge, where Rask and Yuga still stood. Neasha had left the room minutes earlier to get some sleep, having little pressing interest in the results. Rask sat on the edge of his seat, however, as his earlier spat with Yanim had given him reason to see her taken down a notch. He would get his wish.
"Everyone," Yanim said over the comm with a noticeable deadness. "I have an announcement... of the small number of you who bothered to take this process seriously, we have elected by a narrow margin Yuga Shuur as Captain of the Muramasa. Please send your regards or pay visit at your convenience to congratulate her on her new responsibility."
She hung her head for a moment after speaking the words. Her contempt for the ayr was overshadowed by her indignation over the fact that the crew's new leader had not been present when the majority of the crew was fighting and dying. Surely, Yuga's administration style would be "leadership from afar." Yanim found it indistinguishable from cowardice. Nonetheless, Yuga had won the lion's share of the votes. Perhaps the crew was swayed by her stately demeanor...
Rask did his best to conceal a smile. This was a turning point within the Terika-Belladonna Company. No longer would the ship's leader be a blood knight or a marauder. It would instead be a sensible woman with experience. A woman with a mind for profits, and not vengeance.
"Well done, Yuga," Rask spoke, confidently. "Let's hope your time at the helm is a good one for everyone involved. Also, seein' as Nea and I are leaving this ship soon to join the Boss wherever she's plannin' on taken us, our headquarters, 'parently, we talked it over and see it fit for you to choose a First Officer of the ship. They'll be there to help extend your command into the field, as well as to serve in your place in case you become... incapacitated for any reason." He then allowed himself to smile broadly, ignoring Yanim's misgivings.
"Yuga, as promised, I have a special gift for you," Yanim said, walking over. She unlatched the box's lid, revealing a highly-modified kanad Black Fleet officer's plasma saber, worn from heavy use. The handguard had a thin layer of dust from the Battle of Zeruel, and specks of what appeared to be rust were in fact the dried remains of the previous owner's blood. On the hilt, the emblem of the Terika-Belladonna company was etched in, along with the name "Virin Rozel," an attribute that Yanim had reverently added shortly after the battle two years prior. "This belonged to a dear comrade," Yanim croaked. "He saved my life, and possibly Rask and Neasha's as well, in an act of bravery on the planet Zeruel. I ask that you keep this object safe, and to honor his memory in your service to this crew."
Vakarus rose from his seat and bowed to Yuga. "I am at your command, Yuga'atvan" He then turned to Yanim and Rask bowed once more.
"It saddens me you intend to leave us, Yanim'atvan and Rask'atvan. I am still bound to you by honor and code, for without you I surely would still be lost."
He then embraced the two kanads in a big hug before returning to his post.

Yuga swept her head back as Yanim began to speak. She could sense that Yanim was disappointed in her being chosen as captain.
Rask, on the other hand seemed quite jovial about this turn-out. He also urged her to pick a First officer.
She knew exactly who to pick.
Then Yanim presented the gift to her. As Yanim explained the story behind this blade, Yuga witnessed the same pictures from the battle on Zeruel she had earlier. However, this time the memories were filled with emotions so strong that Yuga felt quite honored to receive this gift.
She looked up from the blade to Yanim, commuicating with her privately. "Ms Sidikan, our opinions on how this crew should be run clearly differ, but with the captain position bestowed upon me and being met with such a gift despite our differences I will be honored to keep it safe. This act demonstrates how much you really care for the crew." she communed with a warm and almost friendly tone in her voice.
Yuga bowed deeply, "Anatano shippai shi'te [I shall not fail]".
She carefully took the box from Yanim and carried it over to the table next to the captains chair.
She slowly swept her hair back before putting on her hat and activating the comms.
"This is Captain Yuga Shuur. Despite the change in leadership all positions will remain the same unless there are objections. As Ms Terika is still our contractor I will discuss the finalizing details of the operation with her now. I'd also request that Ms Caine be made present on the bridge."
Yuga took of her scabbard and leaned it against the captains chair and turned to Yanim.
"So regarding the upcoming operation..."
Yuga explained the options that still remained. To exterminate Briggs, she suggested they orchestrate an accident, otherwise the race might be called off and suspicions might be raised. She also brought up the issue of Owens pit crew and Frosty's fighter, stressing that they might get recognized if not taking proper precautions.
