"Roger that, Cap." Bucky replies, giving a crisp salute. She walks in among the rest of the crew present and finds Valkyrie. "I'm going to do some shopping today. Do you know plasma guns pretty well?" She asks. "John taught me how to use them, and I wanna get one for myself so I can help out with security if I need to. But I'm an engie, not a trooper, so I want somebody else's opinion." ------------------------------------------------------- Hariim works over the targets with his usual crisp precision, his SDF Space Marine Corp standard-issue rifle barks methodically in single shots or bursts. The built-in rangefinders and fire control systems feeding Hariim's implants with data and giving him an impressive degree of control over the weapon. Like firing it is as easy as breathing itself, which it very well may be for the cyborg.
Taylor drew out her holo-tablet and sent a message to Mad, requesting his presence in the Armory. "We'll run to the armory first, then I'll take you to your room. Hopefully the gunsmith is already in there." she said, glancing back at Johannes. .... "Sure, I guess. I was gonna go shopping too anyway. Need to buy parts for my drone." said Valkyrie, shifting her stance.
Johannes nods at her as she glances back "Sounds good. So how long have you served aboard this vessel?"
"Sounds good. So how long have you served aboard this vessel?"
"Around eight days. Been first mate for two or three." she responded as they rounded a corner.
Amelia groaned as she failed to beat, yet again, this one guy who keeps tormenting her online via video game. "Why even bother," she sighs as she drops the controller onto the ground. She thinks about how she actually spends time with the crew, then realized: "I haven't poked at anything yet." Thinking some more, then says, "Maybe... maybe that new guy has some stuff he'd be willing for me to examine..." Groaning again, she leans back in her chair, and starts being all melodramatic. "What is life." She then trails off into math problems about things around her room. Like how many microseconds it takes for the light on her computer to reach the wall at the end of the room. Evidently bored out of her god damn mind.
Amy walked down the ramp. Hands inside the pockets of her jacket. She walked up to Valk and Bucky. "You two going shopping?"
Meanwhile, Frosty is busy performing the jedi transition in the canyons.
"You two going shopping?"
Valkyrie glanced over. "Yeah. Me for parts, and her for a gun." she said, "Wanna come with? Girl's day out?"
"Yeah sure. Got a contact here, who sells weapons and ammo. We can check what he has to offer if you want."
Owen remained on the ship for the time being, that ordeal with security gave him some thought, but at least some of the officers were race fans. Owen walked down the cabin corridor when he heard Amelia speak. "What new guy?" he asked.
"Yeah sure. Got a contact here, who sells weapons and ammo. We can check what he has to offer if you want."
"Sounds good to me. Lets do it." said Valkyrie, shrugging slightly before glancing over at Bucky.
"Around eight days. Been first mate for two or three." she responded as they rounded a corner.
"Oh, new commission then?"
"Oh, new commission then?"
"Yeah. Did a few odd jobs before this one. Last big commission was months ago." she said, nodding. They entered the mess hall. "Hopefully this one turns out better than the last..." she continued, her voice trailing off.
"Sounds awesome!" Buck replies jubilantly. She smiles warmly at Valkyrie and asks: "What'cha lookin' at?"
"Alrighty. He should be close by." The trio walked for a few minutes untill they reached what looked like a garage. A man was standing near the entrance. He could be best descibed as overweight and shady. He looked at the tree women in front of him. "How can I help you lovelies today?" "We're in the market for some new elbow grease." The man nodded and opened the door letting them in. The inside looked like a tipical garage repair shop. That is untill he flipped one of the switches. The floor opened up to reveal a staircasse leading to the basement. The man gestured for them to follow him "Knew it was you Koronova. You bringing recruits to check out the best weapon seller in Sol?" "I left the Sisters two years ago, Eddie. Too much bullshit was pilling on for me to stay. These two are friends in need of some weapons and parts. I'm just here for ammo." "Ahh, I see. Well, you get a free agent discount in that case plus a few more percent off the purchase for bringing in more customers." The staircase ended and the basement room was revealed to them. Racks upon racks of weapons, crates filled with ammo and few inactive droids were put on display. "Welcome to Eddie's chop shop. The best place to get military hardware this side of Sol. Pick out whatever you want as long as you have the cash. And don't worry, this stuff is untraceable. If the SDF or whoever come looking, it will lead them to several dummy accounts and shell companies. So, what will it be?" [Author's note: Up to you guys if Eddie has what you want. Don't want to railroad your characters too much.] "Simple for me, Eddie. I'm gonna need 3 cases of the hollow point rounds and 4 cases of the armor piercing ones. Oh, give me one with incendiery and one with toxic ammo." "For the Widow?" "Yeah." "Ok, want anything else? I'll drop the price if you buy something else." "I'll have a look at whatever mods you're selling." "Right, while you do that, do you two have anything catching your eye?" [It's 4:21 AM, so this is it for me for now.]
"Yeah. Did a few odd jobs before this one. Last big commission was months ago." she said, nodding. They entered the mess hall. "Hopefully this one turns out better than the last..." she continued, her voice trailing off.
Johannes glances over "Sounds like you've got a story. In a sharing mood?"
"Sounds like you've got a story. In a sharing mood?"
"Maybe later. Besides, you might want to hear Valkyrie's side of the story first. She embellishes it a bit more." said Taylor, cutting him a rather serious look. Moments later, they arrive in the armory. "Here we are. Mad, you here?" asked Taylor, as she walked in. ....
"What'cha lookin' at?"
"Just lookin'." said Valkyrie, her toothpick swapping sides again. After their walk and Amy's conversation with this Eddie guy, Valkyrie spoke up as she studied some of the inactive droids and weaponry on display. "Yeah...what's the best combat drone you've got?" she asked, studying one particular drone before looking over at Eddie. If he had one on sale, it'd be better than the heap of scrap she had back on the ship. Plus, she could buy the weaponry here to mount on it.
"Embellishment isn't really my style. I prefer the facts as they are." Johannes nods, matter of factly, then glances around when they enter the armory. "Ah good. How is the weaponsmiths skills? Is he good with plasma?"
"Ah good. How is the weaponsmiths skills? Is he good with plasma?"
"He's pretty damn good from what I've seen. Made those weapons over there on the rack." said Taylor, pointing at the rack of MAWS rifles on the wall. "Oh, that's Markus over there, and Harrim in the back in the firing range."
Johannes glances at the MAWS rifles, then in the direction of Markus and Harrim in the firing range. "What's their position?"
Markus looked over as he heard his name mentioned, sizing Johannes up, "What you gawkin' at? Little try before ya buy, fresh meat?" he said with a slight chuckle.
Johannes looks over at Markus, and shakes his head. "No. I have my own, and rifles aren't really my thing. I'm just here to store them, and see about maybe getting them improved."
Yanim and Rask finally emerged from their respective quarters, having slung air tanks onto their backs and attached them to their filter masks. The Martian atmosphere was rich with oxygen, but contained very little nitrogen compared to Earth and many other life-bearing planets, and so was unsuitable for kanads in general. "Let's make this a short stay," Yanim commented. As they stepped onto the frozen landing platform, they looked out at the massive fleet carrier docked nearby. Aside from their own breathing, there was no sound for a while as they took it in. Finally, Rask broke the silence- "...so, does it fly?" His words were very measured, as if he wasn't sure how much to assume of such a gesture by Argos. On one hand, the crew might be requested to scrap the vehicle, which would be a major waste of their talents if that were the case. On the other, the ship might be theirs to keep. But was it a gift, or an incentive? It seemed to be far too valuable, even as scrap, to offer as a gift. His question was a neutral starting point. "We need to find Red," Yanim mumbled as she located a staircase off the platform and onto the soil itself. Rask soon followed, and the two kanads exchanged a brief smile as they kicked up a bit of snow. "I think we missed that new recruit. We'll have to meet him when we return." --- Neasha sat in the mess hall, reading the news as she sipped on her cocoa.
INTERGALACTICA HOSTILITIES ERUPT NEAR VOYAK - COLLECTIVE WAR DECLARATION IMMINENT As confirmed by authorities within the Collective's Black Fleet, a skirmish between kanad and sanghvi naval forces occurred this morning in which several frigates and one cruiser were severely damaged by the fighting, and an unknown number of sanghvi casualties occurred. Officials say that this is the first encounter of this scale to occur between the historic enemies since 2372, but not when counting kanad-contingents within the UGC peacekeeping force which has continuously occupied the border region since the last war. "They've been testing their keepers' resilience," General Zhu Rozel of the Black Fleet contends. "Clearly, they no longer feel the yoke of the international community upon their necks, and as a result, the innocents of Voyak are now endangered by the sangvhi as they were two decades ago. We must confront this aggression before it's too late." Voyak, a former client state of the Sanghvi Mantle, is considered one of two major hot spots in the long-running conflict between the two powers, the other being Sirgas, another former Mantle state. Both have been managed by UGC-backed independent governments since the conclusion of the Sanghvi Civil War. The arrangement has not always been successful, and some studies suggest that the gohva and arah-phi populations, found on both planets, have seen a decline in quality of life under UGC governance. However, whether this means the local populations are yearning for the return of sanghvi hegemony is unknown, as attempts to collect such information are frequently met with legal challenges from kanad-sponsored groups.
She looked up and watched as Taylor led the new recruit through the room on their way to the armory. She put her tablet away and followed them. A moment later, she arrived. "Another human, if I'm not mistaken?" the serek inquired before extending a hand. "Neasha Kyral, 2nd lieutenant of the company."
Johannes whirls around, a little more than surprised at having been snuck up behind. He nods, and grasps Neasha's hand firmly, shaking it. "Aye, human. Johannes, nice to meet you."
"You're a strange one," she said. "What sort of talent are you bringing to the table?"
Johannes laughs a little. "I suppose I am, but probably not for the reason you're thinking of. I'm the new raiding boarder. Former Koninklijke Marine Korps Airborne and PMC Mercenary." ((Sega, remember Johannes accent isn't perceptible when he's wearing his armor. The vocoder cuts it out and just makes his voice sound like a combine's))
((Snipped that part. Thanks for the heads up.)) "Welcome aboard, nonetheless," Neasha said. She had no idea what "Koninklijke" meant.
"Thanks. What do you do aboard the ship?"
Markus raised an eyebrow, "An what in fucks name is konink... whatever it was ya said"
Johannes glances over at Markus "Huh? Koninklijke? Oh, I'm sorry. It's my native tongue. It means Royal Navy Marine Corps. I served my home country, The Netherlands, for six years before Sol's unification."
