"Lion, can you contact the ship, someone might be able to sneak up and free the hostages, until then, there's nothing we can do."
After a few tense moments of thought, Yanim had an idea. "The Archius can get here within that half hour. We t-tell the pilot to maneuver at low altitude, the landing thrusters will k-kick up a dust storm with chakator <hurricane> winds."
Lion nodded, a antenna deployed from the Lancier. "Archius come in, I repeat, Archius please come in! We have a urgent situation down here and could use some reinforcements down here."
Shelia placed her feet against the controls, standing by for orders in this relaxing place. She frowned when she heard something in the comm. "Archius come in, I repeat, Archius please come in! We have a urgent situation down here and could use some reinforcements down here." She widened her eyes and pressed, "Hello? What's going on down there?!"
"We have several tangos approaching on our location. They have hostages and should we attack they will be executed. If you could provide us with a distraction that'd be great." Said Lion.
"Yanim, we'll be just as blinded as the gang, but if we can keep them distracted, maybe we could get them out of there." Pippin thought for a moment. "In fact, if someone distracts all of them, we could hijack the truck."
Shelia looked shocked to say a word but couldn't imagine what situation they did right now. She sighed and tapped. "Alright I'll go in. What's your position? If you somehow change your mind you could always contact me to stand by again."
Yanim's voice came over the communicator, uplinked through the Lancier. "Archius, this is engineering. I advice a low p-pass over our coordinates on a north-south route, landing thrusters engaged for maximum distraction." Then, to Pippen, "Just cover your face, duzt! You know it's coming, b-but they don't."
"I can distract the head honcho. He want's to negotiate? I can speak scumbag and buy you some time."
As Sledge approached quietly he heard the biker gang leader over the megaphone. He parked his bike and laid low with Herc behind a nearby dune. While their position gave them an advantage, there's no way they could cause trouble with hostages in danger. Sledge decided to wait to see what the rest of the crew came up with. If he had a chance, he and Hercules could swoop in and cause a whole mess of trouble.
Jeb heard some commotion coming from outside, it sounded fairly tense, so he remained in the bar, drinking beer.
"Okay, once the distraction hits, I'll hijack the truck, Shelia, if you don't mind, can you give me a rendezvous point, I want to keep these hostages out of danger."
"JellyBob, I believe we got this town in the bag!" The Leader smiled, patting his friend across the back. "Yo you want me to guard this folk? You know those heroes in the movies always trying to save people always get you in the back!" "Sure whatever. Bring Democat right here in case someone wants to get blown up!" Democat appeared fired up and ready, holding what appeared to be a rocket launcher up close. He spat some mucus on the sand.
"Pippin, just be careful." Varn got out of cover and slowly walked towards to the bikers. "Hey, sandbag! You wanted to negotiate? I'm here."
"Well well well, ain't you looking dandy!" The Leader shouted. "I noticed you wanted to speak to me. Now real talk hero, what do you have in mind?"
Lion began marking each enemy he spotted, making them appear on the HUD for all his crewmates with helmets/eyepieces, as well as on the Archius radar.
"Well, for starters I'm no hero. I'm just like you, an outlaw a 1%-er. I also represent a powerful crew. Off-world and packing some really big guns. That last part is part of my proposition."
The Leader snarled at him at that last part. "You're fucking lying. Regardless no big guns like these..." He said while checking out his muscles. "Aren't gonna bypass these civilians. I know what type you are, you want to save the hostages. Now I'm gonna lay it on you all we want is the town, nothing more. These hostages can be set free as long as you comply to our rules. This is a free planet afterall." [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] Archius XI was already on the trail with the small town, it would probably take no less than 9 mins to provide some distraction. Shelia was oblivious to what the crew was gonna do next.
(Oh, no, he's genre savvy http://tvtropes.org/pmwiki/pmwiki.php/Main/DangerouslyGenreSavvy)
Varn let out a laugh. "You think I care about these fuckers. Don't insult me. I came to you because I see potential. Your boys are the exact type of partners my crew was looking for. But let's settle that later. What do you want?"
Varn let out a laugh. "You think I care about these fuckers. Don't insult me. I came to you because I see potential. Your boys are the exact type of partners my crew was looking for. But let's settle that later. What do you want?"
The Biker Leader stared straight at him with glorifying eyes. A vengeful spirit came upon him and literally convinced him this man doesn't care whether these fuckers die. The realization hit him clearly and stared at a chance to imprint the merc memory with something cruel. Cruel to the maximum. This was an opportunity to spite someone. The Leader didn't care what consequence could pop up, it snapped inside his mind like a twig. He snapped with his fingers, signaling one of his members to pull out a kid, at the very least 10 years old. The child was barely holding tears and wanted to go home. JellyBob placed him down to the ground. The Leader kept staring at the merc with sour eyes and made a curve to his lip. He patted towards the child and kneed down at his height. "I'm sorry little girl. It just had to be you." He whispered closely. "Pray." He said one last time as he rose. The Leader immediately pulled out his laser gun, a second later was the point everyone witnessed such crime. The child's body slammed to the ground. An innocent child no less. This wasn't a simple live lost this was a kid. A life was lost that day and somebody needed to be responsible for it.
At the sound of the shot, Yanim's finger twitched, nearly coming down on the trigger of her own rifle as she watched the crime take place in her reticule. Her eyes were wide and an ache in the pit of her stomach made her seized up all over. Still, she remembered the stakes at play and avoided setting off the domino chain, but what would happen to Varn now?
[Oh god, what have I done?] Varn's expression remained the same. But beneath his sunglasses, rage could be seen in his eyes. He frowned and stood in silence for a few seconds looking at the leader. Granted he wasn't a saint himself, but child-killing is a low, even for him. "You did that to spite me. I see that. But did it cross you're sand paper minds that maybe, just maybe spiting me and my crew would be a bad idea?"
"If this k-keeps up," Yanim croaked out through her tablet, "Varn is going to g-get himself shot. How far out is the Archius..?"
"Regardless I got a hell of a kick out of that and one family has already lost one member. You did this yourself bud! One last chance, give us the town and lay down your weapons." [editline]22nd June 2015[/editline] Archius XI was nearly there. One minute and Shelia will bring on the ship to town.
Pippin had enough of this, he backed into the bar. As soon as he was inside e ran for the back door. There were too many people right now, where was the ship?
"The town IS yours you dumb fuck! Haven't you been paying attention? Look around. Nobody is out here but me. Everyone is hiding scared from you. I came out to offer you a chance of a lifetime, but you're too busy pissing it away."
"You think you're fooling me tough guy?! I KNOW what kind you men are! You think I don't see that sniper? You don't think there's a bunch of mercs waiting to cap my ass?! Son you best be staying on that bottom of the food chain. This ain't no movie you're in anymore. Fuck it." He snapped at his fingers once again at pulled another kid aside. "Anyone of you folks brave enough to shut this fucker to prevent anymore deaths that's one warning I could say! Blame the "badass" outlaw!" The child screamed and screamed, struggling to get away but couldn't. The Leader let out a stern look and shook his head. But a large shadow approached. The Leader looked up and saw a giant ship above the town. The thrusters exaggerated the sand and made an impressive sand storm. Whoever this was this wasn't good. "Shit! JellyBob I CAN'T SEE!" The heavy sandstorm made everything difficult to see, it was a struggle to see someone at this point. [COMBAT TIME!]
The roar of the ship above signaled a change of fortune. As sand blasted through the open street, causing general disorder and confusion, Yanim could see everyone's body heat through her infrared scope. She focused in on the childkiller and pulled the trigger without hesitation.
Sledge watched as a child was led from the truck. The movements were cold and deliberate. This wasn't going to be a threat. That girl was going to die. He rose quickly and mounted his bike. He was already too late to save her life, but he had every intention of tearing that cowardly biker fuck limb from limb. The gunshot was like a spark that lit his insides on fire. He couldn't think. His comrades, the other hostages, the town civilians, all of it disappeared from his mind. He was going to crush. He was going to kill. He was going to destroy. He didn't hear the clicks and yelps of Hercules, who had picked up on Sledge's white-hot loathing. For the first time Hercules was frightened by and for Sledge. He knew nothing good would happen with his master in this state. As Sledge revved the bike, prepared to charge, Hercules did the only thing he could think of. He bit him. Sledge didn't even feel the pain as Hercules sunk his teeth into his upper right arm. He simply felt himself tilt to the side, dragged off the bike by the lopsided weight. Strong as he was, Sledge couldn't keep his balance and went tumbling down the side of the dune. The moment Sledge figured out what was going on, he started struggling, but Hercules was holding on tight, like a dog with a chew toy. Blood streamed from the wound and the pain finally washed over him. He brought his other arm around and attempted to pull Hercules away but it only made him bite down harder. The pain, anger, and frustration getting the better of him, Sledge brought a heavy fist down on Hercules' head. He felt Lion's armor buckle under the force and it slid off. Hercules let go as a sharp corner cut the skin on his snout, sliding backwards a few feet under the recoil. He didn't fall over, seeming only to dig himself in as he turned back to Sledge. He stared at Sledge intently as the two large cannons attached to his barding began to charge ominously. At point-blank, the cannons would be far more than lethal. Sledge attempted to make a move only to be stopped by a short, forceful roar. Hercules kept the charge on his cannons. It was his every intent to keep Sledge, still blinded with rage, where he was. Even if he didn't completely understand the situation, Hercules couldn't see a semblance of his friend in Sledge's eyes, and he knew it would be dangerous for him to act while so incensed. (( This all happened before the Archius made a dust storm. I'll continue this in a second. ))
