Pippin stored for a moment and picked a kinetic carbine off a dead soldier to replace his lost weapon.
"Dwan, Pippin, good to see you guys are with us." Varn gestured towards the two "Keep behind us. If things get too intense, you can disengage and retreat to a safer position. You're our support, so take either medical supplies or explosives." The squad followed down the hole Lion's team went in. That's when they heard the roar of the creature that had engaged them. It was busy fighting the marines that were already there and hadn't noticed them yet. "Arm heavy weapons, fast! On my mark, you shoot that thing down." The Boomes prepared their guns and prepared to fire. "Fire!" Varn said as they unleashed a barrage at their target.
Dwan nodded, having heard what Varn had told him and Pippin. When they arrived to Lion's team, they encountered a weird-ass looking monster. Dwan switched his howitzer to mortar mode, knowing that mere bullets won't be enough to take this bastard down. He fired at the beast with a mortar round, as he prepared the LWA Second Horseman.
Pippin checked the pulse of a marine who had been slamed against the rocks by the creature. He was still breathing, and Pippin pulled him backwards by his arms towards the tunnel's enterance. With the help of one of the marines there, he lifted the injured soldier ontop of a crate. "Where are your medics?"
[Doom it's been 3 days and you still haven't made the roll?]
[Patience, it's been a busy week for me]
Screaming like a banshee, Yanim leapt over the cover, unloading her rifle in full automatic for the first time since Rigel on the nearby Crimson troops.
Mini Roll[7]: Two soldiers reloaded their assault rifles after being scattered from their own, they saw a lone wandered, screaming. She landed a perfect hit near one of the men's torso, knocking back as the other unpinned a grenade and threw it. He saw his comrade and pulled him by the arm to somewhere safe.
"Hostile!" Yelled Warren as he opened fire towards the tunnel ceiling. Three marines armed with kinetic shotguns which had volunteered to take point had no time to react as several rending claws cut them to pieces. A man cried out in pain as he lost both of his arms, before collapsing onto the cold floor. Warren readied a grenade but to no avail as it was knocked out of his hands. Before he could do anything else he was tossed away into a nearby fall, coughing as he struggled to get up. Lion, the rest of Spectre Unit and the dozens of marines spread out. A shady figure appeared next to the wicked creature which Lion recognized as one of the unidentified supersoldiers which had participated in the battle that led to Jeremy's death. He grinned and motioned for Lion to come at him. In response, Lion holstered his rifle and unsheated the vibrosword he was carrying. The edge of the blade turned blue as a small sheet of plasma engulfed it. Lion then charged forth.
Mini Roll Critical Failure[1]: Dirge saw the motion of honorable battle from this soldier. While noble he wasn't above of dirty tactics. Dirge immediately cloaked as the creature charged unexpectedly towards Lion, tackling him in submission and using its four claws to shatter the outer armor in pieces. The creature saw multiple soldiers unleash a barrage of fire unto it, letting loose a roar. Dirge decloaked near to one of the Sol soldiers, already whipping a rifle out of someone's hands, grabbing and using it to shoot the ones near him. Dirge turned and swiped, shooting simultaneously. Once that was done, he let loose a whistle, signaling the creature. The creature grabbed Lion and threw him at Dirge as far as possible. Dirge used his whip to entangle Lion's torso, hauling him around like some limbless ragdoll, bashing him against rocks. He finished by releasing him outwards. Seeing his sword, he walked towards it and grabbed it, throwing it on the ground near Lion. He gestured him to get up and fight. "Arm heavy weapons, fast! On my mark, you shoot that thing down." The creature turned and immediately saw the Boome Marines mark it on their locks. He pounded his hands onto his torso towards Dirge. The creature jumped high as marines kept firing vertically. Distracted, Dirge cloaked and made his move towards the aggression, swiping at the enemies with fierce force. Blood spewed and Dirge turned to Varn who was almost about to fire until the creature plummeted down, and grabbed Varn, using his left palm to crush his inner bones.
Dwan nodded, having heard what Varn had told him and Pippin. When they arrived to Lion's team, they encountered a weird-ass looking monster. He prepared the mortar but suddenly was noticing Varn was in the range. However he noticed a glaring weak spot, a big ass eye on top of its shoulder. He switched to single fire and aimed. He pulled the trigger and landed a hit, the creature reacted by releasing Varn and kneeling down, stunned.
Lion shook his head. "Dirty tricks, huh?" He mumbled before charging straight into the side of the creature, grabbing his sword as he went forward. Lion mustered every bit of power that he could spare, hoping that the tackle would be enough to force the creature to the ground.
Varn got back up, holding his side as he felt his ribs cracking. The pain was already temporarily fading. "I'm getting real tired of you fuckers." Picking up his gun, he aimed at the creatures eye and fired.
Dwan watched as Lion ran towards the creature in an attempt to tackle it, while Varn fired at the eye. Having prepared the LWA Second Horseman, he knew who to fire it at. As he aimed at Dirge, he once more began working on activating a reversed Hastened Universe Jumper incantation. He wasn't about to let some bastard with a whip swing him around. He then fired the tiny pistol at Dirge.
Iska and her squad went down into the tunnels and they had brought all kinds of toys with them. They stopped, and Iska analyzed the situation. She turned to the squad and explained the plan. "Easy, we mark cloaker with tracer. When he can not hide, kill him." One of the marines took out a fletchet tracer gun and aimed it at Dirge while Iska and the rest readied their weapons.

Dirge tilted his head out of curiosity but still took caution, even the tiny surprises came with huge firepower. "Time to put you out of your misery, you freak." Varn took out an incendiary grenade "Squad, take out it's arms and legs! Make sure it can't run away. " Once the Boome's started shooting at the creature to pin it down, Varn tossed the grenade.
Iska let out a frustrating grunt. "Give me" she said and snatched the tracer from the marine. Iska took aim at Dirge once again.
Pippin arrived back at the sight of the battle and saw Lion taking a beating. He fired at the creature, hoping to distract it.
"This is starting to become a habit." Said Lion as he got up on his feet once more. Several SDF marines and members of Spectre unit were also getting up. Warren reached out and pulled up Lion right in time for him to see both the creature and the mysterious man take a beating. Lion decided to attack the creature, charging with his vibroblade.
Dwan switched his howitzer to plasma mode and aimed at Dirge. He watched as Iska approached the bellend with a tracer. He waited to see what would happen. If Dirge moved and attacked, he'd fire at him.

She took the tracer out of her hands and aimed perfectly while Dirge was too busy killing allies. She pulled the trigger and literally landed a hit. Well that was easy. Dwan was quick enough to let loose all of his firepower towards the person, nearly disrupting those Synergy shields. Once Dirge pulled out his whip it was quickly knocked out of its hands by the incoming plasma fire. Dirge slowly turned at the deactivated whip from afar. Dirge turned towards Dwan and slowly gestured outwards, as he was saying 'Show me a good time Dwan.' He walked slowly. The battle was slow to say the least, as forces clashed. But soon enough there will be a victor.
Iska threw the tracer back to the marine and lifted the heavy machinegun into firing position. Iska spat on the ground and looked at the marines. "Enough work, now we fight!" Iska noticed Dwan was facing off against Dirge, but Pippin and Lion was in need of assistance. While Iska was a bit fed up with how Pippin had been acting earlier, it was no reason for her to let a crew member die. Besides, Lion was in equally dire straits and she could not disappoint her captain. Iska opened fire on the beast and the marines followed suit, once again unleashing the hail of lead that sort of had become the squads signature move.
Lion quickly got up and charge yet again with his sword as the creature was distracted by Iska.
Varn wanted to make sure that the creature would be dead. He aimed at it's head and fired.
Lion quickly got up and charge yet again with his sword as the creature was distracted by Iska.
Mini Roll Critical Failure[1]: As Dirge kicked Iska he noticed the same pattern Lion did once again. He let out a whistle to his pet, taking notice at the repeating tactic. They took advantage of this. It was simple, the creature pounded on its scarred chest, taking the opponent as he was bait. Dirge swinged its whip at Lion's sword, taking it away as he was left defenseless. The creature suddenly gave a devastating punch. Dirge took the grip of the sword and charged, leaping while timing Lion's fallback. Dirge pierced Lion's back through, placing his foot at the blade area before snapping it in half. The remaining pieced wedged inside Lion. Dirge threw the broken sword far away from the field.
Varn wanted to make sure that the creature would be dead. He aimed at it's head and fired.
Mini Roll Critical Success[9]: After suffering explosion grade weaponry and barrages of guns, Varn dealt a crippling blow to the creature. He shot full trolttle against the back of its head, repeating the same action until it was kneeing down. Varn hurried to the scene and shot it in what seemed to be the 11th time. The creature plummeted down and laid almost motionless. Dirge was not pleased, in fact that was an understatement. Dirge and held his whip tight, swinging it towards Varn and frailed him around like a savage. Dirge released him and stared, his whip's thermal beam, slowly turning to a glowing blue.
Surprised by the sheer fact that Dirge had snapped his near-unbreakable sword like a dry twig, Lions eyes then turned red as he removed the blade from his body and tossed it at Dirge like a supersized knife. His nanobot pods kicked in and started repairing the the thin but deep hole through his robotic body.
Pippin picked himself off the ground. He was pretty tired of being thrown. He fired a burst from his weapon at Dirge.
"Hehehehe. Didn't like me killing your freak, huh?" Varn got back on his feet. "I didn't like you killing our guys. You still owe us for them." His gun was out of reach from all the flailing. He activated the centurion shield and extended his blade. "Lets' dance." Varn waited for Dirdge to make a move and counter it.
Iska slowly raised herself off the ground and, noticing that the heavy machinegun was useless in this situation, she took out her plasma knife. Iska flipped it around to a reverse grip with the edge outwards. Standing slightly hunched in a defensive position she spat out some blood, "Come on" she muttered with an angry frown and eyes slightly lighting up. She dried blood from her lips with her free arm and, like Varn, waited for Dirge to make a move.
Dwan's eye twitched when he saw the mute Dirge mouth out his name. He didn't expect one of the Auditors to say his name, but he wasn't surprised either. He tinted the visor of his helmet to make sure Dirge couldn't see his eyes, as he pulled out his Vibrosword. He began walking slowly towards Dirge in a defensive posture, as he kept his eye on him to prevent him from getting his whip. He then noticed Dirge realizing the situation the group was in, so he rushed towards his whip and lurked into the shadows. Dwan wasn't quick enough to stop him. Dwan continued his defensive posture, in case Dirge jumped him. Then, he heard someone being knocked to the ground. He turned around to see Iska on the floor, courtesy of Dirge. He then watched how Dirge penetrated Lion with his own sword, followed by him whipping Varn all over the place. Dwan was pretty peeved that Dirge just decided to abandon their mano-a-mano. He watched as Varn and Iska surrounded Dirge, as Pippin fired a shot and Lion threw the blade at him. Dwan switched the howitzer to laser mode, as he approached Dirge defensively. He waited for Dirge to make a move. If he attempted to whip Dwan's sword out of his hands, Dwan would fire his howitzer at him.
Virin wrestled Yanim back into cover as a grenade landed nearby. Fragments deflected off the surface of rocks and debris as the two kanads hit the deck. "Get a hold of yourself! Haven't you learned anything?" Virin barked. "We need to get to the LZ." "Not while they're still breathing," Yanim hissed as she shook his hands off. Her eyes were fixed on the enemy soldiers behind cover a short distance away. "Stay behind if you want!" "No," Virin answered plainly as he grabbed Yanim by the back of her collar and threw her back to the ground. "[Listen to me now or lose me,]" Virin spoke calmly as he stared her down. She froze as the words reached her. "[We're going to the LZ, boss.] For the sake of the crew." "Okay, okay," Yanim grumbled. "You don't need to be so..." she trailed off, unable to find any actual fault in her comrade's actions. "Whatever, let's go." They slipped away from the front line as Privateers rushed in, countering the Crimson attack. --- Steam was rising from the roof of the rail platform as the mag train pulled to a stop. The sun had set, leaving the streets eerily empty as the true cold began to set in. Here, in this diamond-crisp air, the lights of the city appeared to go on forever. Ryvik stepped out onto the concrete, his hands buried deep into his pockets, his head bowed. Home was three blocks away. He walked this route nearly every day, but rarely at this hour. In the dark, no one would cross his path in any frame of mind to greet him or communicate. Each pedestrian was lost in their own world as they went on their mysterious errands. What went on at this hour couldn't be described as "nightlife." Ébo was dead at night, always, and Ryvik was alone. A long time ago, he and Yanim walked to and from the same mag train platform. Ryvik was always too shy and too strange to make friends, but she was different. Yanim was smart and practical, and had no trouble talking to people. She just wanted to form friendships which were genuine, but practically no one met her standards aside from Ryvik. Her so-called "friends" rarely visited the family home. All they had growing up was each other, really. More than a year prior, when Ryvik brought his best work to the State College of Culture and Arts, he was introduced to competitors looking for entry. They came from prestigious families with greater resources. Their works were produced using tools Ryvik could have never afforded. Many knew the evaluators personally or had family connections. Ryvik was alone. The whole world turned gray and lonely after that. He wasn't particularly talented, and the one way he felt gifted could no longer bring him hope. He didn't know whether to resent others or to hate himself. Some days he would sit on the roof of the apartments and produce sketches of the city he would later dispose of, taking satisfaction that he could create artwork regardless of the disdain he received from his countrymen. Other times he would go to the roof and consider jumping off, and would end up curled into a ball, wondering endlessly what he could do with himself. No one could offer him the reassurance his conscience cried for. He retreated into himself and searched for a reason to live that no one could take away. In his absence from family life, Yanim buried herself in her studies. Their mother and father watched their children's' lives take shape unhealthily. It must have relieved them when Ryvik enrolled in State Naval College and even began to spend time away from home with classmates. Many of them came from similar failed backgrounds- failed teachers, failed architects, and so on... But a year later, Yanim was ready to graduate, and Ryvik had never tried to reconnect. He always assumed there would be plenty of time to rekindle their friendship when he was finally ready to share his thoughts, and admit the shame he felt for the times he wanted to plummet from the top of their building, and all the occasions he locked his door and ate dinner alone. Her decision to leave and become an offworlder surprised him as much as it surprised their parents. He believed that the dream of gallivanting around the galaxy died for both of them when they realized growing up wasn't the adventure they hoped it would be. A month after she left the planet, Ryvik connected with his parents. His father surprised him one evening as he walked in the door- there were drawings Ryvik had made as a child all over every flat surface in the home. As soon as he stepped in the old man appeared and embraced him, crying "[my son... my son...]" His mother had cooked him his favorite meal as if it were his birthday. There was no occasion, only desperation which had motivated it. They talked as a family around the dinner table for the first time in ten months. Ryvik told them most, but not all, of what had gone through his mind lately, and how nice it was to finally have friends outside the home. Gradually, he had realized that his parents had never discouraged him from becoming an artist because they only wanted him to grow up happy and hopeful like a child should. Now, as he began to find solidarity in military work, they would support him 100%. After all, art was a function of luxury on Kanadys. In the Black Fleet, he could fight for the defense of everyone, even the lowbloods. Patriotism gradually replaced his self-obsession and introversion. Since that night at the dinner table, they had gradually become a family again, all except for Yanim. Wherever she was, she hadn't been calling. They had received only a form letter from the HarkArk corporation notifying them of Yanim's employment, as she had given them emergency contact information. They had been visited by SS Bureau I a few days prior, informing them of Yanim's involvement at Hanza. Less than a day later, they received another visit from the Enforcement and Adjudication Office, informing them of the charges being levied against her. There was little sleep overnight. The next day, while Ryvik was in class, more charges were added after Kuromo. Another form letter arrived from HarkArk, claiming Yanim had been killed while participating in activities against company directive. Bureau I arrived again that day to refute the claim. Intelligence arrived from Bureau II about the Archius' previous activities. Ryvik was closer to his parents than ever before, and closer to the state than ever before. Had it been his sister causing his alienation as a child? Had her aloofness and mystery really just been toxic cynically? He wished he had a few more blocks to think it over as he neared the apartment entrance. Above all, they needed stability, something- and someone, they could hold onto. Everything which had gone wrong for him and his family could, and would, be righted. He would make them sure of it. Carrying a box with an all-black uniform inside, he would be smiling when they opened the door. He will tell them, "[I love you both; everything is going to be okay.]" He would tell them that the program was safe and that he looked forward to his future, and that he would continue to call and visit. And, although he hadn't met with them yet, he would tell them that he had utmost confidence in the special unit he would be assigned to. Everything was being organized by an experienced leader in the GKVR, a general named Vorokar...
As the two fleets clashed the ensuing chaos had forced the ships to form up into several smaller groups as each side tried piercing the other's defensive line. The SNV Mjolnir calmly accelerated forward with most of its support ships tagging along while providing fire support. Ahead of them were the remains of a Crimson Son minicarrier dissolving into several large chunks; the result of a MAC shot from the Mjolnir. All in all the combat had gone well, the flagship of the SDF forces present around Zeruel had successfully wiped out two CS battlecruisers, one arrogant destroyer and a minicarrier which had been caught by surprise as it had exhausted all of its drones. Meanwhile Zhaneys had ordered the SDF fleet to stay away from any of the CS flagships which had been engaged by the large Hark Ark sphere called Termina Central, as informed by Lion. The enormous flagship punched through the wreckage of the ship ahead, only to be faced by another crusier and three frigates. The frigates spread out and began engaging the SDF escort while the cruiser pushed head on, preparing its broadside plasma cannons. "Enemy cruiser incoming, admiral!" Yelled one of the deck officers. Zhaneys slammed his fist into the chair as he rose up. "If these cykas wants some broadside action then we will give it to them, prepare all portside weapons!" The crew scrambled and as a result several large turrets came online on the left hand-side of the ship. "Firing position in five." Notified a officer. Zhaneys nodded. "Helmsman, maintain cruise speed. CIC, monitor all our weapons and make sure that they're firing. Gunners; let it rain." The cruiser came closer and closer untill it was in a firing position. "Wait for it..." Said Zhaneys. Suddenly several hatches opened up to reveal dozens of plasma cannons emitting powerful red lights. "Now!" Yelled Zhaneys to which the entire ship shook as all of the portside weapons fired off, triggering the cruisers shields. The cruiser returned fire, triggering Mjolnir's shields. "Again!" Fire spread across the cruiser's shields as Mjolnir fired a second salvo. Once again the cruiser fired, returning the favor. "Shields are holding at 73%, admiral." "Status on our target?" Asked Zhaneys. "Barely any effect, sir." The admiral's face hardened as he started thinking. "Arm tactical missiles, pods thirtyone through forty. Focus on the center point of their ship. Fire the third salvo soon after." "Will do, admiral." Replied the weapons officer as he started handing our orders to the officers handling the tactical missiles. "Missiles ready!" "Fire away!" Several pods opened up and spit out several missiles which began tracing towards their common target, one by one they all collided with a specific central point of the cruiser's shield. As the last missile detonated the shield started shimmering briefly. "Fire all weapons!" All hell went loose as all of the portside weapons opened fire again, this time the wepaons let out a continous stream of weapons fire. Before the crew on the cruiser could react the shields shimmered again and went out. Explosions started spreading accross the surface of the enemy vessel untill the destruction of one of the plasma cannons caused a bright red flash followed by a chain of several larger explosions. Zhaneys smiled as the crew started cheering. "Good work crew, now let's finish off these frigates. I want a full status report of the fleet in thirty minutes. Get to work."

In Fort Blaze had several commanders radioing in key positions like Fort Cairo and the Horizon line. A beep came from the comm. "This is Privie 5th Company! We're spotting a machine coming in from the north. Omega Field is in need of reinforcements! We're getting overwhelmed over here!" A Major yelled through while another commanding officer went through. "Our platoon is getting fucked over here, christ that shit is huge! GODDAM- the radio immediately went off as a spark of loud noise went through before it the man was presumed dead. The commanders raised their bodies and located Omega Field. "What the hell just happened?!" A veteran commander demanded. "Sir, we've lost 5th Company and Blue Platoon, along with several others. We're scrambling units to engage." ... Huge thuds of mechanical steps took place each minute as tracers and explosions echoed throughout the field. Privateer artillery and anti armored vehicles concentrated firepower onto a tall machine of devastation. The Hadron class Daedalus slowly marched to the field, raising it's cannon to level those that attacked, instantly erasing them to ash, forming mini craters in its wake. The Daedalus slowly raised its right arm after charging for five minutes. The cannon emitted a bright crimson glow, gathering the particles needed to create a salvo. The Daedalus ignored all sorts of weaponry HarkArk mustered, the cannon was ready and so shot out a particle sphere towards the Omega Field, obliterating the entire area along with Omega Field. The generals were agape and surprised. Omega Field was gone along with several companies. "Unbelievable. It's clear, they're holding massive amounts of weaponry within their arsenal." "What exactly are you thinking! Right now we gotta defend this position and take out that machine!" The veteran said, a commander turned and placed his hand on the table. "IF we succeed in this, we must haul through underground and wipe out all of them. They've proven themselves they are a threat and if we're lucky we could seize their entire arsenal." He said, others nodded at the moment. "I doubt this is the time for seizing resources, bring everything to blast that Daedalus!" He pointed outwards with fierce attitude.
