While Jeremy was checking his weapons, he heard Arthur silently sobbing.
He then stopped what he was doing and put his hand on Arthur's shoulder.
"It's okay, you don't have to fight, we will protect you if you get in trouble...we are a team Arthur." Jeremy said with a smile on his face.
Arthur tried his best to dry his tears, so as to save face.
"O-oh, it's quite alright my friend! If my comrades are in trouble, I will gladly defend them... that's why I developed the wildfire formula. The nanites in my LWA should help to repair any injuries sustained in the line of fire... And if worse comes to worse, I still have a trick up my sleeve!" Arthur exclaimed, as he pulled up a vial of Wildfire and showed it to Arthur.
"I imagine these Screechers will be a problem for many years to come, even if we manage to kill the queen. If we don't however, or some other team claims the kill, my plan is to generate money through mass producing this solution and selling it as an effective weapon against these creatures. This should get us through to Termina Central, though it may require staying on Rigel for a little longer..." Arthur says, flashing a slightly evil grin as he finished.
"And if we come away with no cash, and no opportunity to profit from this... Let's just say that I have a backup plan in place."
"Alright, everyone strap in. Looks like we're gonna tail Perra for now. Yanim, get that gun online!"
Once Lion was seated in the cockpit, Yanim transferred main throttle control to his side while maintaining a minimal heading and vector indicator for safety. She ensured that the copilot's controls were mapped to the low-resolution control stick, freeing up the more accurate high-resolution stick for the nosegun.
In the middle of all of this, a heavy hand landed on Yanim's shoulder, startling her.
"Now is time to show what ice princess is made of."
By reflex, Yanim snapped, in kanad: "Shkuta duzt!" This would have normally been translated automatically by her pocket device to "Sit down, jackass!" and this frightened her, because Iska had only meant it as a friendly gesture and was now sporting a goofy-looking grin. Luckily, Yanim had forgotten to turn the translator back on once she was done talking to her kin and so Iska didn't appear to understand. Yanim sneered at having been startled and responded gracefully instead.
"For the crew, yes?" Yanim replied in English with a half-genuine smile. She then turned her translator back on.
After unloading all unnecessary information from her display, she flipped a toggle and the nosegun, already calibrated and ready for combat, took up the space instead. She then disengaged the safety of all weapons on the craft with the turn of a knob. A soft red glow was emitted from lights hidden throughout the cabin, indicating to the crew that the Roughrider was now in combat mode.
With everyone seated and belted in, Lion engaged the thrusters and the ship lurched into the air. Having avoided one potential conflict, Yanim saw fit to say nothing as Arthur sat himself down in the seat directly behind her. Oddly, he appeared to be emotionally compromised, which seemed totally strange given the anticipation most of the crew felt for the mission ahead. The captain sat behind Lion and was consoling him while also helping to coordinate communications with Perra.
Arthur's behaviors seemed erratic to Yanim. He was now jabbering on about some sort of backup plan in case of failure, and another plan if the first failed... did Arthur know something that was giving him grief? Or maybe he was just cowardly, and had just realized it was too late to turn back. Maybe he felt as if he had condemned at least part of the crew to death in pursuit of this monetary prize, and considered himself responsible. Could it be guilt? It continued to bother her.
She decided to simply make light of the situation by telling a variation of an old Kanad joke:
"Arthur, there was a kanad named Apryt Kommi who would cry at bad time, what do you think other kanads called him?"

"Arthur, there was a kanad named Apryt Kommi who would cry at bad time, what do you think other kanads called him?"
Arthur smiled at the dreamy Kanad seemingly noticing him.
"What did the other Kanads call him, my love?"
Slightly regretting having spoken to him, Yanim finished the joke.
"Apryt Kommi. What else?"
((This will be my last reply until tomorrow morning. Until then, Yanim avoids any unnecessary conversation. This whole ride has been a series of embarrassments.))
[I mean I know I'm the kind of guy who lets anyone have their character have whatever background they want but at least make it feel like your character is in the universe we're going for, not to be disrespectful.]
As Perras ship continued to push out into the Tundra with Roughrider right behind them, they started approaching a group of smaller sinkholes.
Lion, not sure if Perra intended to land nearby, decided to play it safe. The rear LMG deployed from its concealed comaprtment.
"Varn, get on the LMG. If we're gonna land near these sinkholes I'd rather have us combat-ready than not ready at all."
"Varn, get on the LMG. If we're gonna land near these sinkholes I'd rather have us combat-ready than not ready at all."
"Yes sir." Varn unstrapped himself and got into his position. From there he could see sinkholes in the ground, big enough for something bad to crawl out of."Alright, lets see if I can remember my training days."
Perra's ship flew through the cold climate, breaking the barriers as she spotted something that caught her eye. A large sinkhole that looks like some swirl floors could take them underground by foot. The problem was the Screechers probably used that for the "first wave" Perra glared daggers towards the sinkhole, this was her goal. She popped through the dropship and requested a favor.
"So, this would be our goal gentles. We're near the center of the network, it's most likely that if we go underground our chances of getting that Queen will increase. That's if we survive the "first wave", the hardest part on getting through that sinkhole. Meet us a mile away from it, we'll form a game plan.
[So uh, can I land the dropship or?]
[So uh, can I land the dropship or?]
[I hope so. Sledge is liable to jump ship out of impatience. :v:]
[So uh, can I land the dropship or?]
[You can.]
As Perra and her crew began their descent, Lion followed.
"Stay sharp, gunners!"
The dropship began to land next to one of the sinkholes, in proximity to Perras ship.
When they landed, a green light lit up in the rear.
"This is it, ladies and gentlemen." The ship powered down.
-snip- Didn't see the newest post.
((so where am I? All I know is that the team is going bug hunting.))
(You're still at the Archius I think.)
"Alright people! Let's form up, and get down there." Arthur shouted to the rest of the group.
"Our captain will lead us, unless anyone else feels capable of doing so. We'll meet up with Perra, and... g-get to fighting s-soon!" Arthur tried his best to hold back his nerves at this comment, turning his face away to regain composure.
As Iska stepped out of the dropship she took in the familiar silence of the tundra.
Feeling the thrill of the hunt, she took out a Mijak Horn from her pouch and blew it.
A long, low and eerie sound came from the horn, it's echo rolling out over the barren plains.
she lowered the horn, and after some time had passed another horn blew in the distance.
After that another and then an additional one. With their haunting powerful sound echoing across the tundra, slowly dying out and the tundra became silent again with only the weak wind blowing.
Iska smiled and turned to the crew, "Ancestors smile upon us." she said with a comforting smile directed towards Arthur.
(I imagined the mijak horn would sound similar to helm hammarhands horn from lord of the rings.)
As the ship land, Viper took a moment to release the Sanghvi's talon like legs from the steel hull of the ship and to focus on the mission. Viper then turn to face the crew and answering Arthur. "As the commanding security officer, I will leading beside the Captain as second in command."
Lion clicked on a few buttons which disengaged the clamps holding the cargo pods in place.
He moved out and pulled them up next to each other before opening them up.
Inside were several pieces to construct a small crane-like device with its cable hooked up to the rear of the dropship that also act as a counterweight.
Alongside the crane pieces were packs of grenades and chem-lights. A large rifle was also present, one that Lion picked up with ease despite its size.
"Requesting assistance, we need to get this crane operational." Lion pointed at the pieces on the ground.
Varn turned on his shield, hopefully it would give him a few extra seconds if he got hit by acid. He turned to commander Viper
"Commander, since I'm armed with a shotgun I would like to volunteer to be at the front or to guard the flanks."
Yanim moved into the passenger compartment of the Roughrider once the rest of the crew had disembarked. Her tools were still stowed under one of the seats, so she pulled the box out and carried it down the ramp to where Lion was working. He had requested help assembling a crane, and so she answered.
Lion connected two of the pieces, forming the feet of the crane platform. He held it steadily with both of his hands before looking at Yanim.
"Use the nailgun to secure the feet." He pointed towards the small tool lying next to Yanim.
Viper started to walked outside of the ship, waiting for further orders from the captain and begin overlooking the landscape of craters. Ready in clase of a surprise from the Screechers.

"Roger Varn, you will be our point man. Make sure to stay in formation and move slowly" Viper replied to message received over the implant. "Team members, please relay what your position you will taking before we head out" Viper said out to the team.
As Yanim assisted Lion by doing as he said, she was also listening to the others discuss formations.
"Most of us have not military experience," she posited. "Others seen combat, but not enough. It is good idea to pair soldier with non-soldier for safety of all."
The crew felt anxious to fight some bugs they've never faced before, a loud roar came from the unseen fog, the members readied their guns. The sound keep coming and coming until they realized those noises weren't bugs, they were large Homkah trucks. Homkah trucks were huge industrial trucks built for cargo, having a large doubled barreled cannon at their top hull. They still don't know to whom it belongs to until a chatter box popped in Roughrider's comm.
"These babies have all the equipment we need to enter underground. The plan will be simple but one of my guys are going to be pissed once we pull out the "bag." Perra spoke through.
Yanim nailed the platform, allowing Lion to secure the cable mount at the top of the platform. The mount was linked to Lion himself, allowing him to steer the cable upwards and downwards.
Lion then procceeded to deploy the cable from the rear of the ship, which he then connected to the crane.
"Crane ready."

"Understood, Lion" Viper replied before looking in the directions of the oncoming trucks.
