Mini-Roll [7]: Varn nearly got jumped by one of those things as Jeremy laid down the definition of a captain by shooting each one, they weren't head shots but at least they rolled on their backs.
A mounted gun sprang from the hole, Perra's crew found the Archius in a bit of a pickle and so they decided to help. Bubal welded his fine plasma axe, clenching it with his hands as he found the closest screecher and halved it. "Whew, this is fuckin fun than killing mercs!" Perra screamed as she used the mounted gun as her thump card against the creatures.
After the explosion, Yanim had heard a cry to get the dropship running so that the big guns could be used. She darted back around the side to the copilot's seat, but as she threw the door open she realized that her crewmates weren't on the same page. The others descended briskly into the hole, and Yanim cursed them under he breath.
"Why did we even make it combat ready, then?" she wondered about the Roughrider.
She went back to the crane, readying herself for the battle ahead, when she felt a sudden chill. Perra's crewmember died placing the charges after he had been assured that they were safe. Everything on this mission hinged on the supposed trust the crew had for Perra. This felt like a setup. Disgusted, Yanim resolved to help as many of her comrades as possible, despite the circumstances.
She went into the darkness, Type-1 set to full-open and an incendiary grenade in her hand. As she approached the fight she began to understand the flickering shapes around her, illuminated by the fires they had set. They were standing in a roughly circular shape, aside from Arthur, who was shooting from the pocket at the center, as the screechers were coming from all sides. Yanim stood with Arthur and used the extra distance netted by the pocket to shoot in a calm, collected fashion.
She placed her sights on one screecher and fired several plasma bursts, attempting to hit the same location each time.
[part of me wishes that I made a combat type character, this part looks really fun]
"HOLY SHIT! Did anyone see that? I fucking saved Viper! I fucked them all, haha!" Arthur shouted gleefully, forgetting his usual pleasantries.
Firing from the centre, he slowly moved back, to gain distance on the Screechers coming from all sides, as well as to gauge, then provide immediate support for any member of the team that find themselves in trouble.
Arthur didn't notice Yanim coming up behind him, bumping into her and ending up back to back with the Kanad, both shooting into different sides of the pit. He smiled at the idea of fighting with her, and began firing his crossbow into any members of the team that looked to be in trouble.
Iska had been firing non-stop but when she paused to throw an incendiary grenade she noticed the cooling fan in the lmg was not slowing down. "Shtuka" she muttered between her teeth.
She promptly hit jorvu on the reciever box with some force, causing whatever it was to fall back in place and the fan slowed down. Opening up the fanhousing she noticed it was glowing red hot. Not having time to apply cooling gel, Iska simply gathered some saliva and spat into the spinning, glowing fan. [Roll for success]
As Viper stood pouring machine gun fire at the downed screecher till ruining dry. The outnumbered Sanghvi quickly hosteling the machine gun, rising the back talons in response to the changing creatures. Readying to attack the screechers in close combat till a salvo of arrows came from behind Viper. The arrows broke the upon hitting the Shell of the monster, releasing a deadly toxic that instantly killed the crowd of screechers. Viper turn around, hearing a voice coming the soft-carbon know
as the Arthur.
"HOLY SHIT! Did anyone see that? I fucking saved Viper! I fucked them all, haha!".
Viper was impress by soft-carbon shooting, surely saving the Sanghvi from a nastily fight. The Sanghvi reload the machine gun with AP rounds, hoping to take down one with sear volume of fire and let lose into a wave of oncoming screechers.
Lion commanded his hover-sentries to elevate a few meters, putting some distance between them and the screechers. He the resumed his engagement when he spotted one screecher in particular that was larger than the rest.
Several scars covered its face and a small harpoon was sticking out from abobe one of the eyes.
"You must be a old one." Said Lion before marking the elder screecher on the combat HUD, allowing his friends to see it as well.
"Priority target marked." Exclaimed Lion before firing off a shot.
After failing to shoot his target and noticing the screechers getting closer, Varn panicked. He stared walking backwards in an attempt to to put some distance between himself and the bugs. One of them jumped witch a horrible screech, when it was blown away. The rest of the bugs started keeling over dead. That's when Varn saw the captain standing with the rest of the crew making sure everyone was alright and that giving orders. Something that was rare to see in his line of work. Varn felt a motivated, he snapped out of his panic and moved closer to help protect the less combat capable of the crew. He started laying down suppressing fire on the screechers.
Damn that's a lot of actions.

Mini-Roll[3]: The Sanghvi attempted to fire another round of AP shots at incoming screechers, to his or her dismay the shots had missed one by one.

Mini-Roll[6]: As Lion fired one shot towards the elder Screecher the screecher didn't react to that shot with no effect, seeming to shrug it off like nothing.

Mini-Roll Critical Success![10] Varn's motivation was down to a hull until he saw his own captain inspired him to do what he did best. He suppressed fire at every screecher he could find. He eventually starting to act like a commando and killed any bug that he saw within his reach. One screecher attempted to jump on him but as he noticed he fired one round at the bug, throwing him far away until it exploded in a puddle of goo guts.
[editline]7th April 2015[/editline]
The amount of bugs in the first wave was eventually decreasing to the point of victory towards both crews. Everyone had a part in killing.
"Duzh'nka - vixsa!" Yanim swore as her shots missed their intended target. "[Jack shit - dammit!]" Arthur heard her and turned, seeing the livid screecher she had been trying to hit break through between Viper, who had also missed, and Iska, whose gun had malfunctioned. With a well-placed crossbow shot he delivered his fatal mixture just as Yanim was about to pull the trigger again. The bug crashed to the ground a few feet away from them and writhed in its death-throws. As Arthur celebrated another kill, she groaned in annoyance and scanned for another target.
"Kill was good, human. Stay focused!" she said as she checked over her shoulder. Just then, a screecher which had appeared dead near Varn (who had been killing a lot, admittedly) suddenly stood back up, having been stunned by a glancing blow to its sensory organs. It quickly scuttled toward the two in the center while Arthur's back was still turned.
"Akha!" Yanim pushed past him and fired at near point blank range.
As the elder screecher shrugged off the plasma like it was nothing, Lion brought out his large anti-material rifle that had been transported in one of the cargo pods.
He assumed a kneeling position while aiming down. He slowly pulled back the large heavy bolt that responded with a loud click.
"Here we go." With the sound of thunder he fired off a shot.
Was it the morale boost, the adrenaline or the chemicals in his blood, Varn couldn't tell. All that he knew was that every bug he saw either ended dead or sciting away. He stood for a second admiring his handy-work. There were Screecher corpses everywhere. If this was only the first wave, then things can only get harder from here.
He then heard Yanim yell behind him and to his horror, he saw that one bug had moved by him. He switched to his pistol to reduce the chance of friendly fire and shot at the back of the bug, hopping that it would divert its attention to him.
Dwan continues to use "Aeducan's Blazing Howitzer"'s fire mode, as he uses his revolver to help out the others.
After the weapons fan had cooled down from her makeshift treatment, Iska reloaded the gun with a new ammo barrel of plasma rounds. Noticing Varn was in deep trouble and that Yanim was wasting bullets on the screechers tough carpace, she divised a plan. While strafing past Yanim she shouted; "ice princess climb onto screecher and attack from behind shield skin! Iska will distract!". While continuing strafing she unleashed jorvus full auto power onto the creature. As she felt the recoil, the smell of oxidating plasma and the scream of the screechers, she felt the adrenaline filling her up. Her eyes were glowing and she was wearing a madmans grin.
Iska was in her essence.
((That makes three people firing on the same screecher, I think we should see the roll results before I try to climb on that thing's back))

((Come to think of it, you having the more reasonable race might just let the brute finish her bloodfrenzy, while preserving her own ammo. But it's you char so you decide if you want to roll or not))
((Don't be so sure about that "reasonable" comment. The kanads created the Collective as a world government in order to end a century-long equivalent to the World Wars. "Restrained" would be more accurate. Kanads and Khergians are pretty similar under the veil.))

"DID YOU FORGET ABOUT ME?!" came a roar from somewhere above. Sledge had finally joined the battle, foregoing the crane and climbing down the sheer cliff face with his BARE HANDS JUST TO SHOW HE COULD! On nearing the bottom, but still plenty high enough to make a STRONG ENTRANCE, he cranked the kinetic amplifier on Wham Bam Thank You Ha'ammer to MAXIMUM OVERDRIVE and leapt from the cliff face towards the nearest group of screechers with a massive overhead swing!
"LET'S KICK SOME INSECT ASS! HOO-YAH!"
Viper continued to be disappointed as round after round, defected as they hit the hard shell of the screechers. The Sanghvi put away the machine gun on the hostler and took out begin to take out the vital of toxic with crossbow out from the pack on the Sanghvi's back. Only to break the poorly made wooded weapon in haste of seeing the large elder screecher coming after Lion. After seeing both the oncoming screechers and the monstrous creature. Viper toss's the vital at the horde of screechers and readying to finish off the weaken horde with a volley of machine gun fire.

Mini Roll Critical Success![9]: Yanim's fast reflex skills gave her an advantage at spotting that screecher before it could do any harm, killing it with a few rounds. The thing twitched out until she double tapped it.

Mini Roll[2]: Lion quickly pulled out his anti material rifle like some wild cowboy in the old centuries. He scanned his ultimate target and slowly pulled the trigger until he was sure he was confident. The round went out towards the elder Screecher, what seemed like it worked only led to failure as the bullet barely pierced through the creature's shell. This creature was going to be tough.

Mini-Roll[6]: Dwan's Blazing Howitzer was sure effective as he blazed the crap out of any Screecher he found crawling at him. The screams of bugs roaring throughout the caves.

Mini-Roll[3]: This was it the moment Sledge was waiting for, his time was about to shine as the day of reckoning on these foes will be vanished by his cold steel. He winged his hammer in action, with his full mighty strength this fight will be over in seconds. Wrong. The closest screecher noticed the large hammer and attempts to gnaw on it like some big t-bone steak. Both fight over it like animals.
Viper continued to be disappointed as round after round, defected as they hit the hard shell of the screechers. Mini Roll[8]: Just when he was let down by himself, Viper proved himself worthy after letting loose a barrage of machine gun fire to his all enemy carbon based life. At least a dozen of screechers were killed on that day by him. The amount of screechers came to a halt until the elder Screecher realize that it was outgunned and so crawled far away from the crews.
[I didn't write a result for Radley and Kiler because Sega Saturn already killed the bug first.]
-snip-
Varn shot at the screecher charging Yanim, only to realize it was already dead, so there go a few bullets. Switching back to the Boom box he, heard Sledge's wild yell. "That man will either kill us all or save us and I don't know what scares me more" he thought to himself. Seeing the big screecher running away Varn shoots at it one last time in an attempt to slow it down "Who knows, maybe we can follow its blood to the queen."
Arthur broke out in a small sweat at the Screecher coming so close to him, soon put down by Yanim at close range.
"Big bastard almost got me, haha! I guess that make us even on the life saving front, my darling." Arthur told Yanim, as the first wave began to wind down.
Arthur quickly took the opportunity to uncork his vial of Wildfire and attach it to his LWA Pathogen gun, giving him a good dozen shots of the chemical agent. He used the empty vial to take a sample of the downed Screecher's blood and cut a little bit of the chitinous armour off the beast, stuffing it into his coat pocket for use in the lab.
Meanwhile, back on the ship. Joseph was enjoying a triple decker sandwich he made and turned on the TV/comm, currently airing an Earth show about spacecrafts presented by 3 amusing host.
"Tonight! I wear a hat, James steals some ion boosters and Richard ignores a cat!"
"Hey move over I love this show!"
At such close range, the concentration of plasma leaving the barrel of the Type-1 held so much energy that any organic material hit by the stream would practically be vaporized. The initial burst from Yanim's rifle connected with the beast's lower jaw, blowing a gaping hole into its face. It reared back, its head pointing to the cavern ceiling until three more bursts pulverized the exposed flesh, leaving the head a shredded heap of scorched connective tissue and steaming chitin.
"Big bastard almost got me, haha! I guess that make us even on the life saving front, my darling."
Yanim appeared indifferent. "[Blood begets blood.]" Underneath, she was angry that she had appeared vulnerable in front of the others. "We are even," she said after mulling it over. The bugs were retreating after taking such heavy losses. "We move on now..." She said with a sigh.
Seeing the big screecher running away Varn shoots at it one last time in an attempt to slow it down "Who knows, maybe we can follow its blood to the queen."
Mini-Roll[8]: Varn took a deep breath, this was his final move before the elder screecher could escape. One shot of plasma sent across, eventually reaching at the Elder Screecher's behind. Although it barely reacted, a small dip of goo blood dropped on the rocky floor. Perhaps this was their trail?
"Alright sound off! Who's not dead?" Perra said, taking a glance at everyone who took part in the first wave. "Good work, okay let's stock up on ammo maybe a one minute break. Those things are probably gonna get some reinforcements sooner or later."
"THIS HAMMER IS NOT FOR EATING" bellowed Sledge, as he reconfigured his hammer into SNOW-SHOVEL MODE attempting to crack the jaws of the screecher who'd decided to make a Ham-mer Sandwich. "BUT THIS IS NO TIME FOR INCREDIBLY CLEVER PUNS!" yelled Sledge aloud. "GYAAAAAAHHHHHH!"
No one can say what exactly happened that day between Sledge and the Screecher. All we know is that Sledge returned several minutes later carrying his hammer and wearing one fewer shoe.
As everything settled down, Iska took the time to apply the cooling gel in peace and quiet. She looked around at her bew crew, who had handled themselves pretty well. Iska glanced over at Yanim. Not a bad fighter for a kanad engineer. She was about to comment, but decided to leave her alone for now.
After diving off the first wave of the hordes, Viper started walking over to least mauled bodies of the creatures and fire several rounds into the cranium of any of the Screechers that were still twitching. After finishing, the Sanghvi received a massage from Perra over the radio.
"Alright sound off! Who's not dead? Good work, okay let's stock up on ammo maybe a one minute break. Those things are probably gonna get some reinforcements sooner or later."
After the Sanghvi was finished clearing the corpses, Viper noticed a large amount of heat coming from the light machine gun. The barrel seem to have overheat and melted into the handguard, sure to not waste any time on a underperforming weapon. Viper tossed away the damaged weapon before walking to one of the many weapon crates scattered around the ship.
The crate Viper was a bit larger then the others. Revealing a anti-materiel rifle along with ten magazines of 15x95mm SAPHEI ammunition. A weapon that the Sanghvi had well be acquitted to during the war, often carried by UGC heavy Exo-skeleton troops against harden shelled Sanghvi in a twin-linked configuration as ballistic weapons were fairly reliable and easily resupplied at the time within the rugged conditions of the asteroid hopping campaign. Now obsolete, it has mostly found use by mercs and under equipped armies. This variant seem to have been made for quick transport with most of the heavier components removed and having it's mechanism modified into a bolt action system. Despite they figureless face, anyone could tell that Viper was more then pleased when finding such a powerful weapon. While being very heavy for a Sanghvi, if it was able to take down a crack open a hard shell. Then it will be able to deal with the elder and hurt the queen. Viper took a moment to fully grab the weapon, holding it with both arms and having to make sure to not fall over. The Sanghvi took a few steps to Perra's soft carbon's gang, who were readying themselves for another wave. Viper walked with a subtle and used the back talons to keep balance, just barely keeping the Sanghvi up straight.
