Iska, who had finished her weapon maintenence and was now peacefully standing idly around smoking a cigg. She looked over at Lion waving at the sentry and let out a hearty laugh. "Silly metalman, sentries not human.
Lion grunted. "Iska it hurts me that you would think such thoughts about me." He laughed before pointing at the sentry. "Dolosus is remotely controlling it from the Archius."
Iska strolled over to the sentry, hunched down and looked into its eye. "Really?" she said, eyebrows raised.
"Hope you're a good shot with that thing.-Varn turned to Perra.-"I vote we follow the trail of goop. Big bugs like that usualy stay close to the queen."
Iska, finished with wondering about the suppousedly human sentry, bucked in behind Varn. "Wounded screecher seek stronger screecher for protection. Stronger screecher guarding queen". She looked into the tunnel and then to Serra. "Iska say we follow screecher goo".
Perra nodded quickly, she did redundantly thought about that choice tho it didn't really mattered maybe. "Eh, we could go with that. Alright let's move people!"
Jeremy put out his Cigar and followed Perra and the rest.
Lion went over to Jeremy. "If you don't mind I'll stay a few meters behind the group at all times, I think it's better to have someone who can cloak to watch the rest of the groups' backs, Captain." He readied his AR.
Varn went to the front of the group. "Ill take point. I would like one of those turrets next to me for better suppression."
"Understood." Lion ordered one of the sentries to cover Varn before disappearing into the shadows.
Iska followed suit. "Iska will also go ahead" she said while activating the lmg cooling turbine once again.
Our heroes journey forward towards the deeper parts of the cave, following the gooey trail the Elder Screecher left behind after escaping. It wouldn't take long but others felt like these creatures were watching them as they went. Screecher eggs started appearing by a variety, things were gonna get worse if they stayed long. Above everything else, the Elder screecher appeared abeit scarred but it's a tough one. "Bastard must be a guardian of some sort for the queen." Perra said as she played with her toothpick, she raised her gun until the elder screecher told her why they were called screechers. The Elder screeched to the top of the cave, signaling its brethren to join the fight. Screechers came out of the goddamn walls and more than a dozen showed up.
Dolosus realises he might not actually know the controls and tries to learn by attempting to shoot a bug.
Lion decloaked, revealing a pair of blue plasma blades charging towards the nearest screecher behind the group. He struck first, hoping to eliminate the creature.
Iska pulls back a lever that pushes the lmg barrel apart to make room for a charging Plasma ball. As it charges up the sound gets louder and louder. Iska, standing in a with legs wide to absorb the recoil, turns back to the crew and shouts,"Iska will blow hole in Screecher armor, some must kill it. Plasma missile will drain all ammo, one shot." She turns back and aims at the elder schreecher. "[Open wide, motherfucker]".
Yanim followed along with the others, generally being quiet and thinking hard about what had worked and hadn't worked during the previous fight. Screechers were difficult to track from a distance and extremely dangerous up close, meaning that rapid fire and high spread would be the key to winning the fight from beyond melee range. Varn with his shotgun and Iska with her LMG were best suited for the job, so it was good that they had taken point. Yanim and her Type-1 weren't as useful, comparatively, but with several screechers likely to be wounded by glancing shots, like the one she had just encountered before, she reasoned that she could commit herself to attacking anything which slowed down without stopping. But first, she had an idea. She readied the incendiary grenade she had taken earlier and then waited for Iska and Varn to open fire. Only after the bugs had encountered a hail of fire would they be splashed with -actual- fire.
"Gah!" Joseph yelled in boredom as he turned off the TV. With nothing worth watching and the rest of the crew out bug hunting, Joseph decide to turn in for the day.
Following the group inwards, Dwan decides he'll converse the revolver ammo for now. When the fighting began once more, Dwan noticed Yanim readying a grenade of sorts. He could only suspect what kind it is. Dwan fires his "Blazing Howitzer" once more, sending flames at the Screechers. In his free hand, he decides to try and one-hand his three-barreled pump-action laser shotgun.
"Get ready folks, ugly is calling his friends for dinner!" Varn switched the Boom box to full auto and started shooting hot plasma at the Screechers to give Iska some breathing room.
Holding the charging LMG plasma beam in her hands, the sound eventually got so immense that Iska could only hear her heart beating. There was one catch, however, with this weapon. This was the first time Iska fired the collective plasma beam. Determined to have the elder screecher erased from history, Iska was to proud and too stubborn to let a experimental technique make her back out.
As she pulled the trigger, it was like time stopped for her with a shining green and white light blinding her. She couldn't see anything but she could feel how the recoil pushed her back and she tumbled on the ground. After spinning around she felt something blunt to the back of her head. The blinding light was flickered and went dark and the ringing in her ears became blurred sounds and voices that eventually faded into a humming silence. [Iska knocked out. Could I get a roll on the effectiveness of the plasma beam?]
Sorry boys and girls, had some interviews to do.
Dolosus realises he might not actually know the controls and tries to learn by attempting to shoot a bug.
Mini-Roll Critical Success[9]: Dolosus prayed to the gods his set of working on a drone will work. At this point he tried his best to even control the damn thing, luckily this proved efficient as the drone activated its shooting processors and shot the bug he was trying to get.
Lion decloaked, revealing a pair of blue plasma blades charging towards the nearest screecher behind the group. He struck first, hoping to eliminate the creature.
Mini-Roll Critical Success[10] Lion's guerrilla warfare went off without a hitch. He sprinted towards the bug in high speed, slicing in half without a doubt the coolest thing a UNIT could do. The bug's insides came out as the intense heat flew through it's body.
Dwan fires his "Blazing Howitzer" once more, sending flames at the Screechers. In his free hand, he decides to try and one-hand his three-barreled pump-action laser shotgun.
Mini-Roll Critical Failure[1] Dwan attempts to fire both weapons at the same time until a strange malfunction with his Blazing Howitzer appeared before him, he tried to unjam but to no avail. His weapon was nonfunctional for the rest of the mission. His only chance of offense was his laser shotgun.
"Get ready folks, ugly is calling his friends for dinner!" Varn switched the Boom box to full auto and started shooting hot plasma at the Screechers to give Iska some breathing room.
Mini-Roll[8]: Varn, with the confidence he need switched his Boom Box to full auto and went for the kill as fire support to ensure Iska could take a great big shot at the Elder Screecher. He successfully managed to hold the buggers off as a good merc would do.
The blinding light was flickered and went dark and the ringing in her ears became blurred sounds and voices that eventually faded into a humming silence. [Iska knocked out. Could I get a roll on the effectiveness of the plasma beam?]
Mini-Roll Critical Success![10]: The due process for an extreme vapor plasma cannon finally paid off as the plasma went towards the Elder Screecher in a straight line. The plasma line punctured the Elder's outer shell then slowly invading the inner shell as the matter shook the insides like a microwaved turkey. What seemed like a miracle went straight to real life as the Elder Screecher screeched in pain until its entire body combusted in gooey slime.
Unbelievably, Dwan's Blazing Howitzer jammed. In the past, it has overheated through constant use multiple times, but a jamming is a first. He can't even access the mortar mode or any of the other modes in its current state. Dwan became nervous, as his backpack cannon was his primary weapon. However, he decides to make the best of it. He shuffles the backpack section of the Howitzer to allow for more space, in case he needs to put something in that isn't his weapons. Putting it back on his back, he feels like he was being watched. And it wasn't the Screechers. No, someone was watching him.
Lion saw the Elder Screecher go up in flames and green slime and couldn't help but let out a relieved laugh. Seeing Varn and Dwan fighting at the front, covering the now knocked out Iska, Lion ordered the third sentry to assume a defensive position above her, laying down covering fire. He then moved on with the slicing, this time rushing towards two screechers, hoping to cut them both as he sprint in between them.
Arthur moved up to provide supporting fire to Varn, intending to finish off the Screechers being held off by the enforcer. He leveled the laser capacity of the LWA at a number of them, firing in-tandem with his team.
Varn had done his job up until now, but the Screechers kept coming. An endless tide of teeth and claws that also spat acid. But he kept his cool this time and continued to lay down suppressing fire. He then heard the death cry of the big Screecher and Lion's mechanical laughter. He noticed Dwan and Arthur providing support. "Just like old times"-he thought- "Before the incident." He started to move slowly ahead, shooting, as the team started to push the bugs back.
As Viper followed the group into the caves after the bleeding Elder Screecher. As the Sanghvi walked through the caverns of rock and crystal, moments of the past rushed the mind of Viper. The days within the quiet and small halls of Solari, where fellow Sanghvi communicated with each other through simple yet eloquent movements instead of clumsy and slow verbal sounds that these soft-carbons often used. The time when the Sanghvi could fly through the void, seeing into the endless stars. These distractions fill as the ended as the Viper nearly fell face first into the cold floor of the cave. The Sanghvi quickly regained balance and press on, making sure to stay in the back of team as the Sanghvi begin having feelings of doubts. The feeling of being a risk to crew due to the Sanghvi growing fatigue of planet gravity, lacking any kind of finesse that these soft-carbon have in spades on these hard worlds. Nevertheless Viper press on until finding the Elder within it's lair. The Sanghvi stab it's legs into the rock and took aim at the monstrous hard-carbon, covered in it's thick armored shell. Viper looked directly at it's eyes as recoiled to attack, pulling back the bolt of the weapon to made sure it's camber was clear and begin to take aim at the massive hard-carbon's opening maw. The Sanghvi ready it's finger on the trigger, slowly pulling it back as the shot was showing itself completely. Hissing came from side as the Sanghvi quickly turn to face it, only to briefly see a wave of acid from a large hard-carbon that had managed flak the focused Sanghvi. The only thing Viper could do was recoil back in pain as font of the Sanghvi's head was burning and slowly breaking apart as pure acid started dipping on ground from where the implant used to be. Luckily the armor plates and weapon was able to stop the acid from damaging the body and mostly saved the Sanghvi's life. As Viper was stunned by the pain of the attack, The Sanghvi dropped the burning anti-materiel weapon as it ammunition begin to detonate, letting off a hail of rounds that bounce around the cave. Hitting a few Screecher, even killing one by decapitacion. Viper stood there, trying to hold the frontal part of the head together and barely being able to not collapse in pain. It all went slow for moment as the Sanghvi looked on as the crew started to kill the Elder and the countless other hard-carbon's as the rest of Implant started to fall apart along all the information of what, who and where is. The last sound Viper could hear was a repeating sound that Iska made when they first met. However this time it came across the from where Viper stood. It came from the large Screecher, there it stood as it look at the Sanghvi eye to eye. With all sounds fading away, the Sanghvi entered a frenzy state as the Screechers begin to overwhelm her and Perra's men. Viper begin to tear apart anything with a thermal signature that the frightened Sanghvi could see with it's talons and claws. Ripping apart anything that got it the way of the large Screecher. The large hard-carbon started to stumble back as the Sanghvi came closer and closer to it. Trying build up it's acid within it's mouth in hopes of finishing off this mad berzerkering rock that was after him. After giving one of the poor Screechers that was crawling away a disembowelment, Viper turned over to the large hard-carbon as it try to smash the Sanghvi with it's powerful claw. Only it miss and get in stuck within the wall of the cave, leaving it open to the Sanghvi as it to pull it out as fast it can. The Sanghvi used it's might to begin tearing apart it's arm, the large Screecher shot it's acid at it's own arm, melting it off and giving the Screecher a chance to escape. As Viper was done mauling the arm, it turn to see that the was right behind. Before the Sanghvi could react a blade slashed the Screecher in half, the Sanghvi stood there confused as it's eyes couldn't tell who it was until remembering it was lion. The Sanghvi had a moment of clarity as she started to look around finding that several of bodies that Viper had killed were not only hard-carbon but were soft. Before anything, a bullets hit Viper in shoulder, coming from Perra. Until ordering her remaining men to fire at the traitor. With no ways of communication, the Sanghvi just started to run as a hail of plasma, laser and bullet came down upon the the Sanghvi before finding a way into the deeper caves as one of her back talons is blown off by laser bolt.

Lion saw the Elder Screecher go up in flames and green slime and couldn't help but let out a relieved laugh. One of the screecher spat out some caustic spit towards the sentry, some substance tampering it's visuals sensors. Lion continued to slice another two cannon folder bugs out of the way.
Arthur moved up to provide supporting fire to Varn, intending to finish off the Screechers being held off by the enforcer.
He started to move slowly ahead, shooting, as the team started to push the bugs back.
Mini-Roll Critical Success[9]Using the same motivation used when he slaughtered every bug he could see, his adrenaline filled up and blood veins pumping. He pushed the bugs back as he shot them twice. He pulled out a wildfire vial and started to throw it at the bugs like some soldier way back in the 80s, the old times. While the Boome Marines weren't taken seriously as competent mercs Varn really proved them wrong.
The bug were determined to overwhelm the crew like a package of meat. As long as they outnumber them from 5:1 it was moot point. Then a loud screech came to place as the entire screecher army stood in silence and turned forward to see a gigantic figure approaching. The large figure crawled to a slow haul with its claws thumping on the ground. Perra narrowed her eyes as well as Bubal too. The Archius crew and Perra's crew knew what this figure was, and she is definitely angry that they're messing up her damn hideout. "Big bitch made it all this way just so we can kill her. How sweet!" Perra said as she smirked the hell out of the Screecher Queen. The screecher queen like the pictures from the holograms was definitely big and threes the size of a regular screecher. With all these odds against them what were they going to do? Let's hope luck is on their side.
[So yeah, last week was a bit of a schedule bummer for me. Losing a close friend while you're not supposed to talk to her really hurts. And also the interviews. So I made a deal that I should probably finish this mission before monday starts. Since it's saturday for me I have free time now so don't you guys worry about it.]
"Right when the Queen arrives, I can't use my fire!", Dwan thought to himself. He quickly walks over to Lion. "Lion, can you somehow unjam my backpack cannon?", Dwan asked nervously.
[What happened to Viper?] Lion stood in awe at the enormous figure. It was a bit bigger than most dropships he'd spent time with. He brought out a pair of rapid-fire micro-SMG's before assuming position next to Varn who was still at the front. "There's always a bigger bug." He said quietly. [editline]11th April 2015[/editline]
"Right when the Queen arrives, I can't use my fire!", Dwan thought to himself. He quickly walks over to Lion. "Lion, can you somehow unjam my backpack cannon?", Dwan asked nervously.
Lion nodded, temporarily stowing his weapons to make a quick inspection of the weapon. He found the powersource which had been hit by a small drop of acid, causing the circuits to initiate safety protocols, thus jamming the weapon. Lion acrefully removed the circuits damaged by acid and replaced them with a small mag-connector, this magnet holds object still while also working as a power conduit. He tapped Dwan on the shoulder twice. "Combat ready. Just don't overheat it too much."
[I believed Deathgrunt sent me the quote saying he was going a leave for today., not sure if I was supposed to post it but seeing how that was a pretty large post I could only assume yes.] Perra hastened and went to the rocky cover with Lion and Varn. She held her plasma assault rifle like holding a damn baby in front of a live wild zone. "Shit shit shit." She took a peek outside as some of her men fired shots at the screechers, only to get overwhelmed as one got carried away forcefully by a pack, tearing his limbs one by one. "Well this hit the fan pretty well don't you think." Perra panned. "Got any plans big fellas?"
Lion looked at Perra. He smiled just as his eyes turned red. "Complete elimination." He brought out his small arsenal of rapid-striking weaponry before vaulting over the cover. He aimed at five nearby screechers and started firing off two bursts leading inwards using his micro-SMG's.
