[Nope never too late.]
[It is never too late. As part of the reason why we are in Rigel is to pick up new crew members, you are joining just in time, as we are just about done with the story arc here.]
[Youre joining just in time. Plus the crew does deserve someone to pass along the legends of their deeds]
[So iirc the story so far is: Act 1: Spaceage Piracy Act 2: Bug Hunt. So whats next, doom?]
[I'd rather call them Arcs instead of acts. And right now I haven't planned anything out besides going to Termina Central.]
With the click of a few buttons, one of the hover-sentries switched from its weapon to what would appear to be a camera. "Alright everyone, time for a group-photo. Get in position." Yelled Lion before kneeling down next to the queens massive head. [editline]11th April 2015[/editline]
"Really. Wow that's pretty interesting Arthur, didn't know you were quite the scientist." Perra said as she looked towards the Screecher Queen's corpse, spewing a bit of saliva. "So, I got two homkah trucks that could haul this thing back to my ship. But question is what do we haul her out of the caves?"
"I have these." Lion flashed some relatively flat spheres in grey and white colors. "Repulsorlift spheres, they'll keep her hovering allowing us to push to the hole we entered from."
Varn took off his jaw protector and lid another cigar. He put his foot on top of the head. All the while having the biggest grin on his face.
Dwan joined the group-photo, standing next to the injuries he inflicted on the Queen.
Bubal along with some of Perra's comrades joined in on the group photo but Perra seemed redundant to partake in it. "I'll pass, don't really want any pictures of me." Perra insisted.
[I am going to assume that most of you will join the photo.] "I will count to three, after three you will all say 'Payday' and give the camera your best smiles." Said Lion.
Iska huddled over behind Varn and lit a cigarette. "Nice hunt, no?" she proclaimed chuckled and leaned with her elbow on Varns head, legs crossed. She put on the biggest grin she could.
[I missed the fight because I was really busy the last couple of days. :(]
[I like to imagine Sledge was smashing bugs along with the rest of the crew. The camera just didn't show it.]
"I will count to three, after three you will all say 'Payday' and give the camera your best smiles." Said Lion.
The following crews except Perra and those who didn't want a picture stood by each other smiling. Lion's hover camera waited until the three second mark, flashing a bright light as everyone cheered on behind the dead Queen. Except Sledge had the weirdest looking smile you could ever see from a tough macho man.
[Sledge's combat was too violent to be shown on network television so it was edited out. Please purchase the Unrated DVD Release of Spaceship Crew RP.]
As the crews started leaving the cave, Dwan was pulled by the collar behind a stalagmite. He is shoved into it by a Kastrian. Dwan tries to escape, but the Kastrian pulls a gun on him, forcing him in his place. "Listen here, stout being.", the Kastrian told him. "We saw you looking at our leader before the hunt started.", she tells him, causing Dwan to connect the dots. "We are the Golden Wave. Our leader has lead to our independence from the Gold Dusts.", she tells him. "And our leader doesn't like your crew for killing the Queen before us. And she doesn't like you especially!", he tells him angrily, causing Dwan quite some distress. "But what did I do beside look at your leader?", Dwan asked. "That is not for you to know. But we will receive what we want.", she tells him, causing Dwan even more distress. He wonders what they want. "Until then, we will be watching your crew. Farewell.", she tells him, as she throws a card onto him and leaves. Checking the card, he sees it is a electronic business card. Put it into a machine and it should reveal the names of all 30+ members of the Golden Wave, including their grey Twi'lek leader, aswell as their price as mercenaries. Dwan tucks it into his clothes, deciding he should keep this a secret, not wanting to distress the crew. He'll tell them back at the Archius, when he adds the card's data to the Archives and labels them as threats to the Archius.
A shabby old cart moved down an icy road on the planet of Rigel. Aboard was a man that looked like a complete alien to some of the other people on Rigel. For one, he only had one head and second, he was human and had a sense of morality, something he doubted his neighbourhood knew anything about. Suddenly, he spotted a colour that was not white, in the distance and he squinted his eyes in an attempt to figure out what it was. "Is that...it is! I was told I needed to find a market place. Oh Colin, why don't you ever ask questions? Oh wow, how ironic. I don't know who I'm supposed to be meeting, I just did what I was told. Funny, a few months ago, I was into literature. Now I meet unknown clients and do the equivalent of door-to-door sales. What am I actually doing?" sighed the man. Colin made his way to the market, unable to get the thoughts of failure out of his head. He hadn't even seen a piece of writing that wasn't a contract in the last 3 months. Part of his brain told him today would be his day. Unfortunately, his brain told him that EVERY DAY. [ Apologies if I was vague. Read the thread and I remember someone mentioned being near a market. Didn't want to suddenly turn up in the area you're in and be like "oh my god what a coincidence". I'll attempt to find an opportunity to encounter the crew. I'm taking suggestions. ]
Dwan quickly gets back to the crew, acting natural, hoping that no one notices he was gone for a moment.
[You've probably arrived at Yarheim, the dockingstation. Pass your time there and you might run into someone from the crew]
Perra sighed for a good while as Archius Crew hauled the Queen back outside using those Repulser lifts. "Alright we're going to check off our supplies and casualties. Let's take a break for a moment." Perra said as she glanced at everyone.
Colin took out his notepad and walked through the market, attempting to anaylse the situation and find his client. "Darn glasses. Keep freezing up." Colin sighed. Colin had been told his client was small and a keen eye for food and jewellery. So he basically had to look out for a small fat person that thought he was superior, just like all the other clients. Well, the superiority attribute at least. He glanced around the area and then had an idea. "About 60% of these clients like gambling. Probably just because they want more money because 50,000 is never enough. They always need 500,000. But I know nothing about gambling. I presume the most likely thing they'd bet on is spaceships. They're worth a lot, aren't they? I think they are. Maybe someone has a map. Or...something that is better at navigation than I am," Colin said to no one in particular. He did that a lot.
"Good Job everyone." Jeremy said. "So Perra, what do you plan to do with the body after we get the money?" Jeremy asked.
"Psh, who cares about the body. It's just a dead corpse." Perra pulled out some old fashion cart of cigs from her pocket. Pulling one cigarette she lid one up like a Christmas tree blowing it in front of his face to his utter dismay. She smiled in response. "Heh, You know what Cap? You may not think of it but you and I aren't so different after all. We're both captains, that one is obvious; we probably had at least one plan that we came up without speaking to no one about it, your friend Arthur told me about your clone gambit. We both lead as true inspiring people, except I actually have the balls to put some tough love into my mates. And lastly, we're both trying to get these credits because we need to survive out there. Space is a damn playground." Perra muttered. She looked out into the cold tundra, seeing the dead Queen being hauled back into one of the Homkah trucks. "It would be a shame to lose my team if we had to retreat from that cave, but I guess sometimes you just have to replace them." Perra looked back and threw away her cigarette she walked to Bubal. "Bubal, is the Queen packed up in that truck?" Perra said, gesturing the truck with her opposable thumb. "Queen should be ready. Other truck locked, need codes to unlock." Bubal said to his captain. Perra only chuckled and narrowed her eyes. "Sure Bubal you've been a good mate, the code's 5825. I think you might need some help. I'll be in the truck with the queen. Have fun." Perra walked away as she entered the truck containing the dead Queen. Bubal looked around and saw Iska being bored as usual. Bubal elbowed her, in response Iska punched him in the shoulder. "Need help unload supplies, will be quick." Bubal stated, receiving a quick nod from Iska along with a few of Perra's team.
Bubal and Iska proceeded to unlock the other Homkah truck using the needed codes. 5825 Perra stated. They opened the door as they saw the interior of the truck having a lot of unused equipment inside. "Unused stuff, no idea why." Bubal muttered as he looked around the interior finding some crates of explosives. He remembered before the first wave the amount of charges he hauled in this truck. "Unused charges too. Why use them then?" He had no idea why Perra instructed him to take all that she needed except having Wazowski plant them but even then he died by bug. "Wazowski dead by bug tho. Could he.." "Detonator? Aren't these things triggered by holo band?" Wazowski sounded pretty sure. "Well not these, your best bet is to place them about far enough to get some Screechers attention by using the charges. That will trigger the first wave and you guys better pack some serious firepower. Once you set them up come back to us Wazowski." She instructed. Bubal felt ill towards his death, the explosion sounded off right during his communication went off. Something was going on. Perra was too busy doing something in this truck when Wazowski died. But what? Why was the truck even locked in the first place? It hit him like a brick as he suddenly turned towards Iska and some of his comrades. "GET OUT! NOW!" Bubal being the brute he was tackled Iska out of the truck by brute strength. The immediate beeping from those crate charges gave him all the evidence that they were damned armed ever since the first wave started. Bubal and Iska's far distance gave them some distance from the truck. The final beep and the erupt explosion of the Truck signaled everyone. The large flames of fury swallowed the men who weren't fast enough to run away from the charges, consuming them in flames. Bubal and Iska were dazed by the shockwave, it was a miracle shrapnel didn't crush them or worse. Bubal saw the far Homkah truck starting its engine, started to move on its own.
[ Not to sound like a ass but it's pretty weird that one of the crew members, A commander officer of the Security in fact. Goes on a killing spree after having the font of her head melted off and is then shot at by the unsteady mercs allies, forcing her to run into a caves of deadly space bugs and with no ways of communication. Is just put on the side in favor of taking a team picture. I'm not trying to say "OMG WHY DONT YOU SAVE MY OC!!!1" but after killing the big bad space bug, the crew is more focused on photo taking and payment then the lives of one of there crewmates? Sorry if I seem rude but I'm just confused as to why my character is seemingly put on the backburner without a so much of "Hey what happen to our Security head? The one who got there face melted off and was last seen being shot at by the mercs?"]
Iska gathered her thoughts and put 2 and 2 together. Furious at this revelation, she picked up Jorvu from the snow and pulled the loading pin back with such force one might think she could have pulled the weapon apart on the spot. Iska began sprinting, unloading an entire magasine into the back of the trucks hull whilst screaming on top of her lungs. Eventually the gun clicked and she threw it aside and yelled after the truck "[When I get man hands on you I'll bend your arm in six places and shove it up your ass, bitch!]". After calming down she turned to Bubal, "[I hate to say this, but we need to call Torgo at the Bolgan outpost at Gryyr's Pass and tell them to intercept that truck]". She picked up her lmg and swung it across her shoulder and walked with haste to talk with Jeremy. Even tho my char was out cold and was useless I had no idea what events your post tried to paint. Edit: scratch that, after reading it a second time I got it. Sorry man, I would have come looking for you. Also, this is why I generally post short posts, it's easier to follow and easier for others to puzzle it into their characters actions and the story arc]
[I think it was handled poorly by everyone, there was a lot going on and I think I've posted it at the wrong time.]
As she began walking towards jeremy, she noticed something, that weird stonelady wasn't with the crew. She instructed Bubal to inform the captain whilst she looked for Viper. Jogging down into the caves, the screechers long gone deep into the old nest, she lit the flashlight on her lmg. She arrived at the place where the queen had been killed and looked around, no Viper in sight. She shouted into the tunnels; "Rocklady, now is not time to play hide and seek." she stood still in silence waiting for a response.
Yanim had been very careful to stay out of everyone's line of sight after the battle. She didn't want to hear any condescending congratulations from Iska, or uncomfortable assurances from Arthur, or any commentary on her current state by any of the other crewmembers, period. It was good enough for them to know that she was alive, but that was it. She couldn't wait to get back to the crew quarters so she could bathe and wash her clothes. As she tried to sneak past the fraternizing groups, it suddenly occurred to her that they were posing for a photo. It bothered her that this would give her comrades an excuse to reminisce about the fight in the future, pointing at the picture on the wall of the ship's bar, saying things like "Varn was such a badass that day," or "I can't believe how many I killed," and then Yanim would see herself each time, drenched in filth, and feel... The feeling was fading, actually. She couldn't imagine herself feeling ashamed of how she behaved this day, or being embarrassed of her lack of a personal victory. No one was harmed by her mistakes, and she had appeared calm and controlled through the entire battle. In other words, it could have been much, much worse. The photo snapped, and although she hadn't grinned or participated in the weird human tradition of shouting something in unison before a group picture, she straightened her posture and kept her head up. "I ought to be happy for them," she finally admitted to herself. With the group disbanding afterwards, Yanim tossed her rifle over her back and checked on the ship's maintenance report. Nothing out of the ordinary had occurred, and so she sighed and at least took pride in having done her actual job properly. While she fiddled with some of the in-depth reports, she listened in on the conversations held by others.
...and lastly, we're both trying to get these credits because we need to survive out there. Space is a damn playground."
This wasn't the first time Yanim had gotten some bad vibes from their supposed ally. Before, when Perra's crewmember had died, and even before that, she had felt suspicions toward the other captain. Surely, Captain Spacehawk wouldn't be so naïve as to let this questionable individual leave, alone, with the only token of their victory? Unfortunately, that's exactly what unfolded. Yanim watched as the queen's carcass was taken to the surface via cable to be loaded into one of Perra's trucks, with Iska being the only one of their crew to accompany it. Down below, the crew was more concerned with the fact that Viper wasn't anywhere nearby to worry about their payment. It must not have occurred to them to do a headcount before taking that stupid group photo. Yanim approached the captain cautiously, unsure of how to broach the subject. "Captain, to trusting Perra only with dead queen seem... [shortsighted.]" Just as the captain was about to respond, there was a thunderous boom from the surface, causing everyone to stop in their tracks. Yanim felt her heart freeze as her suspicions manifested into a truly horrible scenario. Her inner frustrations gave way to loathing- "why didn't you say something sooner," she lamented to herself. "Iska might be dead up there." She shuddered.
