Jeb noticed the big guy with the sledgehammer immediately. "Oh, um, hello. Name's Jeb Jackson, ship morale specialist." Jeb stopped walking, this may be a good chance to meet more of the crew and get a read on overall morale.

Jeb stopped walking, this may be a good chance to meet more of the crew and get a read on overall morale.
"Morale Specialist?" grunted Sledge, "You can't possibly have more morale than me, Derrick 'Sledge' Hammer! I'm pumped to be on this crew! PUMPED!" Sledge flexed his pecs rhythmically as he muttered a little song using only the word "Pumped".
"Thank you." Varn noticed the book."I'm currently reading everything the makers of the ship bothered to gather on mercs. So what is everyone else reading?" He took a sip.
Dwan was getting nervous and excited that people are interested in his book. He explains Iska what caldury and caldiur is. He saw Varn get in. "Dwan, I'm cashing in that free drink. Give me some vodka on the rocks.", he tells him. Dwan pours him some some vodka on the rocks and hands it over.
Iska frowned as she lifted the beer to take a drink. She looked Dwan in the eyes; "bloodmagic is cursed, forbidden. Only bring pain and destruction" Iska said with a serious tone before taking a swig.
Jeb looked at the display of confidence. "Well, my good fellow, it seems that you are 'pumped' to be on the crew. What is your favorite part of being on the crew?"
"That's why we need to study it, to see how it works.", Dwan said with a even more serious tone to Iska.
Iska didn't like the answer. Bloodmagic, as she referred to it, wasn't something that should be studied and controlled. The Sokor clan had once tried, and what begame of their legacy? Up in the far north, their once mighty fortresses stod empty and abandoned and those who survived were nothing more but husks of themselves. Iska glared at the book. "[It was not meant for us. It destroyed the ancient clans and it should be shunned]" She concluded.
Dwan grabs his book and puts it back under the counter. "How can it destroy us? There are no spells or incantations in it, only theories, hypotheses and facts about caldiur.", he told Iska. Dwan's hobby and his Howitzer were the only things that reminded him of home, so seeing someone insult it made him mad, causing his eye color to unnoticably change from his usual copper brow to a ochre orange.
[ FYI the "[x]" means that the character is speaking in their native language, but we'll overlook it this time. TMYK.gif] Iska scoffed at Dwan, he hadn't seen what she had seen. And it was useless to try to tell him, because even Iska herself couldn't put it into words. She tried, but all that formed in her head was empty shells of khergians with their life essnence leaking out of their eyes and mouth, wandering aimlessly around their empty citadels. The Sokor had tried to enslave dark ancient powers for their own gain and so they had unleashed unspeakle horrors upon this world. But the Sokor paid the ultimate prize, and all clans were forbidden to practice magic. Iska looked Dwan in the eyes yet again, but decided not to say anything. If he tempered with the wrong kind of magic, he would stand for it alone. She took another swig from the glass.
[I'm aware. It was on purpose.] As Iska looked into Dwan's eyes yet again, he didn't flinch. He knew what she said and he knew what was on her mind. As she took another swig from her glass, Dwan puts his elbows on the counter and looked into Iska's eyes. "[I'm wiser than you think.]", he said in Iska's native tongue. If one wants to barkeep in space, they have to know their stuff.
Iska glared back into his eyes, eyebrows sinking and teeth slightly showing. "[Careful what you say, dwarf. The one who has to prove himself the wiser is the first to be proven a fool]" she whispered back between her teeth. Iska sweept the remainder of her beer and began to walk out of the bar. She stopped in the door. Blowing one last dagger at Dwan and continued to her quarters.
Dwan grabs Iska's glass and starts cleaning it. "She knows nothing.", he whispered to himself. He wonders if anyone else on the ship shares Iska's sentiment.
[so uh.. Is the space people going to pick me up or is my cryopod going to have to smash into the side of your ship]
[I'd imagine we'll pick you up once we get out of Rigel.]
[Mate, we're still docked on rigel, but all the crew is on the ship so I think we sould be heading off soon, depending on what doom writes next.]
((I just realized that brackets are being used in multiple ways, so I'm going to adjust my punctuation from here on. I had been using brackets to denote the output of Yanim's translator in addition to when foreign language was being used without translation. I can see how this could be confusing so from here on all output from the translator device will be in carets.)) "Zhuka. <Nonsense.>" Yanim looked at the two of them with skepticism. "How can one make science of supernatural? Kanads do not believe in that which is not... vertrepit <empirical.>"
Jeb looked at the display of confidence. "Well, my good fellow, it seems that you are 'pumped' to be on the crew. What is your favorite part of being on the crew?"
Sledge finished his song before replying. "I get to crush things and people like me for it!"
Varn was listening to the conversation. He didn't catch the last part, but it didn't sound good. He was pretending to read the document in front of him. When Iska stormed out he calmly said:"That is none of my business and I wont ask about it. I want to warn you though, the magic stuff can attract some of the biggest crazies is the galaxy. Ill switch the subject. I noticed you marked the Golden wave as a threat to us. Why?"
Dwan hears Yanim's comment. "You make it a science by being empirical, as you just stated.", he tells her. He continues cleaning the glass until he hears Varn. "I noticed you marked the Golden Wave as a threat to us. Why?", Varn asked. He gestures him to get closer. "Back at the cave, I was pulled aside by one of them and they threatened the crew. They didn't tell me what they want, but I'm guessing it isn't good.", he whispered to him.
Dwan hears Yanim's comment. "You make it a science by being empirical, as you just stated.", he tells her. He continues cleaning the glass.
Yanim sneered. "If you say so," she said, finishing off the drink. "Another, please."
"Ill switch the subject. I noticed you marked the Golden wave as a threat to us. Why?"
This was a conversation that Yanim was more interested in. She waited for Dwan's explanation.
Jeb hesitated before asking his next question, "And what do you like least about being on the crew?"
"I don't think you need to whisper.-Varn leaned back- "Back in the merc center, when I dropped of the report about the bug hunt, I heard the Gold dusts complaining about escaped slaves. I assume its the same one's you encountered. As to why they want a piece of us, I have no clue."
Lion walked into the bar. "So this is the bar, huh? First time I'm in here." In his robotic hands was the rather large skull from the queen. Lion had covered it in a preserving gel which had made it a bit shiny. Several holes in varying sizes riddled the skull. Surprisingly the mandibles were still attached, being made entirely out of bone the joints were positioned in two sockets at the side of the skull. "Hey Dwan, mind if I mount this over the desk?" Lion asked while smiling.
Iska entered her quarters and closed the blinds. She tapped the jukebox and the song Black magic woman" started to play. She threw her battlebelt and jacket on the chair next to the desk and took of her shoes. She then laid down on the bed, putting her hands behind her head whilst looking up to the ceiling. Maybe she shouldn't be so harsh against the dwarf. If he tempered with asgic and things went sour, Iska decided that she would help him. After all, what better way to learn than to experience it for yourself. Dwan was his crewmate, so Iska felt it would be dishonorable do leave someone to their own fate. She let out a deep sigh and felt herself drifting away, after all it had been quite the day. After a while Iska dozed off. [Feeling a bit sleepy myself, so I'll stay awake for a while to react if anyone comes by Iskas room. If I don't respond I have probably fallen asleep, and Iska is presumably fast asleep as well]
"It is most definitely the same slaves. We can only assume what they want from us.", Dwan tells Varn. As Dwan refilled Yanim's tall rum and coke, Lion walked into the bar carrying the queen's skull. "Hey Dwan, mind if I mount this over the desk?" he asked while smiling. "Feel free to do so.", he tells him.
"Awesome." Lion climbed up on one of the chairs and began nailing down the skull above the desk. He then brought a small metalplate which he mounted right below it. One of his hands then transformed into a small laser-projector and a few moments later he had inscribed the words "Screecher Queen - Rigel" onto the plate. "That should be it. I'll be down in the hangar doing maintenance if anyone needs me.
"When we get to Termina Central, Ill ask around for more information. Until then, its a mystery." Varn looked at the Screecher Queen. "Never though Id have another queen bitch's head over me." He chuckled and took another sip.
[Mate, we're still docked on rigel, but all the crew is on the ship so I think we sould be heading off soon, depending on what doom writes next.]
[SORRY, I kinda didn't realize what was going on >.>]
As the Shanghvi laying on cold hard floor, Viper started to wonder what use did the crew had for have for a waste of a Shanghvi. Viper was unfamiliar with these soft-carbon's need to keep the near death alive as the Shanghvi simply recycle the heavily wounded. It didn't take more then ten minutes for several soft-carbons to rush in and help Viper back into the stretcher. As Viper was being help up, the Shanghvi tired to let out a response though the Implant. Yet again that was gone as well. As such Viper tired to talk to the soft-carbons though regular Shanghvi body movements. There sudden movements coming from the Shanghv sacred the soft-carbons as raised it's claws and talons started to move them back and forth in a rabid motion, diving out the soft-carbons in fear. Viper stood surprised by the way the soft-carbons tired to respond to the Viper saying what would be the vocal equivalent of "How do you do?". "Sir! This is junior medical assistant Williams" One of the soft-carbons said into a intercom system, relaying to the acting Security personal. "The patient has become aggressive, need major assistance in medical wing bravo, room seven" Williams yell out frantically into the intercom. Viper took a look around the room, finding a camera and attempted a common movement that other soft-carbons seemly do all the time. William took a quick look into camera screen. Seeing the rock monster staring directly at the camera. Waving it's left talon around, menacingly . "My god, it caves my blood, It want's me!" said Williams as he started to bolt away from door.
[Who might the captain be? Trying to see if I can get help to find the captain.]
