"Religious fanatics want people like me dead. So as soon as they get a wiff, that I'm on board they might consider you viable targets for harboring an "abomination". I cant recommend direct confrontation. But its up to you."
"Maybe, I'd rather not risk anyone's life right now Lion." Jeremy said as he spoke through.
"Look, we'll looking for an artifact, an extremely rare one at that and our chances of finding it will be slim if you keep on bombarding it." The Captain reasoned.
The extremist militant stood in silence. "Explain this artifact, why waste time on such matters? For treasury or for glory?"
"This artifact shows an infinite power source for God and his followers. Surely we can track this item down yes?" Jeremy acted out, judging by their appearance and behavior it was his best chance. He scanned the planet using Archius's planetary sensors.
"Hmm, I don't know, God's power is already infinite enough don't you think."
"Who are you, I'd like to find out what are your motivations?" Jeremy pressured him
"Zealot Kalpyr, Commander of the Divinity Creed's 13th Fleet. For we represent God's greatest warriors. Surely you know of your own human brothers do you not." He said.
Then it rang a bell, those people. Jeremy muttered in his thoughts.
Viper took to a moment to overlook the situation. Overwhelming hostile force outnumbering us 3 to 1 with just two fighters in our hanger, Viper thought before thinking back on battles of the war and remembering on what went right and what went wrong.
"Sir, perhaps we can do a stealth deep scan on their ships before we do anything rash?" Viper said while doing a quick overview of the panther in the hanger bay, readying it's engines in case of anything though the tether.
”Sir, the Divinity Creed are lunatics. Years ago when the Sol government came to be formed, uniting the system, the new government on Earth- Terra- decided to banish all fanatics. The Divinity Creed were driven out of the system, just like all the other fanatics. I helped lead the assault myself on one of their last strongholds located on Mars...”
"Vhoa! You mean zey are ze Crusade 2.0?"
"Yeah, I'm aware now. Didn't know you fought them before." He said to Lion.
"Chances are they're just trying to seek attention again. Though that's in the past, for all we know they're back and trying to grab a piece of the warmonger ladder."
He turned to Joseph. "Yep, the Divinity Creed believe what they are doing is the for the better of God and humanity. If they actually caught me talking to aliens they surely would exterminate this ship. They're xenophobic religious extremists and their methods are brutal. They're also idiots."
((I'll be unavailable for a few hours, Yanim is NPC for any engineering-related tasks))
Pippin hurries onto the bridge "What's going on?"
"Vhoa! You mean zey are ze Crusade 2.0?"
Lion looked at Joseph. "Yes, albeit worse. They operate alongside a strict pattern that begins with fearmongering, they'll usually cause mischief and then blame it on non-Humans to spread their xenophobic beliefs.
When they've rallied enough supporters they usually begin getting rid of all outsiders.
At first the Terran police handled them, but then they bought a really old shipyard on Mars."
Lion projected a small hologram in his hand, showing a large rounded structure with a hollowed out top sitting atop a large cliff.
Several small walkways led up to the large structure.
"This shipyard was dubbed Gods Refuge, here they trained their indoctrinated while also maintaining a large construction operation with the purpose of building ships for their cause. The first ship they launched- Gods Wrath- went straight to the Intergalactic Trading Colony located on the moon Titan.
They killed alot of civilians that day, shortly after the Sol government was formed and I was sent on my first mission."
The hologram changed partly, alot of battledamage could be seen on the structure which was surrounded by hundreds of small field fortifications and thousands of soldiers and military vehicles, slowly advancing.
One lone ship, which looked alot like the ones orbiting Gadon, could be seen slowly lifting off.
"We won eventually and I was transferred to the special forces following a risky attack at one of the gates, although we lost alot of good men and women that day."
The hologram disappeared.
"Right, chances are the Creed aren't gonna back off and I'll reason with them one more time and we'll see how this goes."
He opened the transmission again. "Zealot Kalpyr, we seek only the artifact and nothing else. We mean no harm, delay your bombardment and we will search for this object as quick as possible. We will leave in peace afterwards." Jeremy reasoned.
The Zealot placed his hand to his gas filter. Thinking. "Surely this isn't a bluff."
"I swear you."
"Very well, but heed my warnings brother, shall you attack or carry filthy xenos with you we will not hesitate to exterminate you." Zealot Kalpyr exclaimed. Captain Jeremy sighed a fresh load of relief.
Jeb still waited at the range for medical help, but it seemed that something bigger than his own possibly broken nose was brewing. Jeb hurried as quickly as he could to the restroom to get something to slow down the bleeding. He then arrived at the bridge. "So what's all this commot-ahhhh-ion about?"
edit: [so is this going to be humans only or something?]
[Not really, think of it as Archius going to find the oracle piece but chances are the Creed are probably gonna be suspicious later and will probably land in Gadon somewhere to find them.
[I see, I wonder if Jeb would be going planetside, considering he kinda hurt himself in the shooting range]
Pippin, still unclear on the situation, starts walking towards the others."
Dwan notices Pippin walking towards them. He doesn't recall seeing Pippin up to this point. He assumes he probably joined the crew at Termina Central, and that he's been in his living quarters since.
"Oh, hello there. Let me just bring you up to speed. We just reached our next destination, just as some zealot group was bombing the planet. Captain's convinced them to stop for now.", he tells Pippin.
Jeremy saw Pippin, they met during the two days had passed after the ship left Termina Central. "I'm sorry Pippin didn't see you there. We're going to land on Gadon and send an explore team. We've already scanned the planet and it should be located in the northern part of Gadon."
"right, do you need me to do anything?"
"Right now be on stand by. Viper and Lion, prepare the stealth ships and Roughrider in case we're gonna expect any hostility in Gadon." Jeremy instructed. "One question, have you handled a weapon before?"
Lion saluted. "Yes sir, want me to bring the Lynx too incase the bush is too dense?"
"Pretty much." Jeremy said as he watched the medium sized fleet above Gadon's atmosphere.
"Was that a question for me?"
"Yes Pippin, can you operate a weapon?"
"Alright, Yanim, with me." Lion and Yanim promptly exited the room and went down to the hangar. As Lion hit a button in the hangar control room, the floor opened up and a small platform was raised.
On the platform were both Eagle and Talon, combat ready. Meanwhile Yanim had begun rolling out Roughrider out of it's designated compartment.
She positioned Roughrider behind the two fighters and begun booting up all the systems.
Lion went for the Lynx which he then parked behind Roughrider's tail, a small magnetic lock held the rover in place, preventing it from falling off during flight.
As Lion positioned himself inside Eagle, he opened up the internal communications channel.
"Eagle, Roughrider & Lynx standing by. Talon is almost ready as well. I suggest that anyone who is going to tag along for the mission suit up and head for the hangar."
"I've only ever used non lethal weapons, but I assume they'd operate in a similar manner to their counterparts."
"Well there's a first time for everything, a security member should probably give you a weapon. Varn, want to be a volunteer?"
"No problem." Varn gives his handgun to Pippin. "This is the Stinger 35-B. Just get a good grip on it, so the recoil wont smack you in the face. Come down to the armory to pick out one of the weapons there." Varn looked at Arthur and Joseph. "I'm gonna need some science help from you two when were done with the religious nuts."
Varn went down to the armory to get his armor.
"Right then" Pippin heads for the armory and starts whistling.
"Roger sir, I'l be ready for duty within the Talon." Viper said when leaving the room before turning around to look at the rest of the crewmen. "And as you soft-carbons say, Good luck to you all."
Viper made haste over to the hanger bay, readying for battle. It's been over 3 years since Viper was in the pilot seat of a star fighter, the dread was starting to set as Viper was waiting within the rushing elevator down to the hanger bay.
Viper set aside these emotions, readying the Talon for a stealth launch though the interface of suit. The doors open revealing that lion was climbing into his Eagle. Viper did the same and climb into the cockpit of Talon.
The cockpit lighted up as the tether warmed as Viper's implant begin to fully connect to the Talon's control systems. Taking a few seconds to ready up as the Talon's systems begin to come fully online. Viper felt fairly anxious about the thought of going into a star battle once again.
Nevertheless the HUD of the Talon flashed, showing all system were ready. The Exo-suit disconnected instantly after the tether was fully in sync with the talon. Now feeling like a extension of Viper, feeling every system within the hull of talon and was able to operated them all with a single wimp of Viper's mind.
Viper took a moment to relax, trying to calm down before activating the intercom system's of the suit. "This is talon to Roughrider and Eagle, The Talon is ready."
"Solid copy Talon, Eagle acknowledges. Commence system check, over."
"Descend down to Gadon." Jeremy said to the pilots as Archius XI heads down to Gadon's atmosphere. The Creed Fleet didn't move a muscle that's for sure tho they will serve trouble later. Sentinel what weapons will you prefer?"
The Sentinel stared at the captain. "Strength and effective fire rate are a preferable asset." He suggested.
"I remember a weapon, the Ion Pulse Repeater can suit your taste." Jeremy said.
