"Copy that Lion, Yanim will take us down." Jeremy said as he and Andronicus went inside Roughrider's interior, patching themselves in as they waited.
Jeb waited on the dropship, things were going to be very interesting...
Pippin offered his hand out. "Hey there, I'm Pippin, or Pip I guess."
"Jeb Jackson, ship's morale specialist." Jeb replied, returning the handshake
(( Dammit I just now started to write a reply before getting called away. I'll be gone for only an hour or so. Please don't take off with the dropship before I have a chance to post. :v: ))
[Sledge has minor retroactive continuity powers, remember?]
POM POM POM POM POM Suddenly, the pounding of heavy footsteps could be heard resonating through the hangar bay! "COMING THROUGH!" CRASH BANG MINOR EXPLOSION "HAHA NICE! TAKE A RIGHT HERE! NO! RIIIIGHT!" KABOOM CRUNCH "DANGER - HULL BREECH! SEALING..." "THROUGH THERE!" Sledge suddenly bursts into the Hangar Bay, riding what appears to be a 7-FOOT-TALL DINOSAUR-DRAGON OH MY SWEET MERCIFUL JESUS WHAT "HIIII-HOOOO HERCULES!!!! THIS IS AWESOME!" Sledge bellowed as Hercules suddenly reared backwards, dumping him onto the Hangar Bay floor. Sledge then grabbed Hercules and pulled him down, wrestling him like a big dog and scratching his belly to giant thumping leg-kicks. Sledge laughed heartily like the manliest child you've ever heard getting the Christmas present he always wanted. Hercules made clicking noises and a few dog-like growling noises before he and Sledge both got up. "Gooood boy!" Sledge reached down to a small satchel on his waist and threw his new companion what looked to be a couple of raw potatoes, which he snapped out of the air in one big CHOMP with his giant cavernous mouth and ate eagerly. "Permission to come aboard, Roughrider! For me and Herc both!" Sledge grinned widely and threw a beefy arm over his new best friend's shoulders. Hercules let out a cheerful and excited yelp. This was going to be the most well-accepted thing that Sledge had ever done. (( Thanks to Sega Saturn for the art! :D ))
Jeremy heard the thunderous sounds and unbuckled peeking out of the interior to see something unexpected. "Sledge, what is that thing? Where did it come from?"
"Harken Claus brought him to me! I named him Hercules! He's a Dracobin and can I please keep him? I promise I'll be responsible and take care of him! He's easy to feed because he can eat everything! I looked it up!"
"How can we know that thing might eat someone, he's huge." Jeremy exclaimed as he walked up to the creature.
"Don't worry, he doesn't eat what I tell him not to eat." ... "Herc, don't eat the captain."
Jeb looked at the duo as they entered. Jeb tried to speak, but sputtered a couple of times in pain and disbelief. Finally words formed. "Sledge, I hope you have that thing is ship trained, and I hope for the sake of ALL of us, that he travels well!" Jeb yelled out. "You weren't planning on sitting next to me, I hope!" Jeb then gave Sledge a look of slight disdain. "Where in tarnation does that guy find these things?"
"I guess he can stay, I can't believe I'm allowing this. But Sledge you are responsible for all of Herc's actions. Which means you also have to clean his "waste" got it?"
"Don't worry, if there's one thing you can be sure of, it's that Dracobins don't poop! I looked it up!" Sledge gives a thumbs-up.
Jeb couldn't believe what he was hearing. "Uh, what?"
"Yup!" Sledge said as both he and Hercules boarded the Roughrider. "No muss, no fuss!" Sledge and Herc's corner of the ship was now pretty cramped but Herc was being pretty well behaved. Sledge was swinging his legs impatiently though.
Pip hopped down from the ship and walked nervously towards Sledge. "Hi, the names pippin." As he ended this the pitch of his voice rose as if asking a question, most likely due to the highly unusual circumstances.
"Akhana veruk..." Yanim muttered under her breath. "<Fucking incredible...>" "We are still needing of a copilot gunner," she said after coming to her senses. Seeing that Iska had still not arrived, she inquired if the captain would be up for it.
"I could probably take gunner Yanim." The Captain said, as he noticed the seat was free to take.

"It's nice to meet you. I am Sledge and this is Hercules." Hercules sniffed Pippin's shoulder and then clicked happily at him.
"(variety of clicking noises)"
Hercules cocked his head to one side at Pippin before yawning widely and looking away.
"Don't worry about Herc's clicky-talk," Sledge added, "Dracobins can understand you pretty well if you just talk to them normal. I looked it up!" "A'int that right, Herc? You understand?" Hercules yelped and clicked excitedly several times.
"click clikity clik clik" Pippin smiled "okay then, strange dinosaur thing"
As the rest of the crew readied inside the hangar, Lion and Viper began landing in the small clearing. They positioned themselves in a way that allowed them to use the fighters as cover incase there would appear some nasty surprises from the jungle. When the two fighters had landed, Lion began positioning several sensor spikes alongside a few shield barriers for better control and protection of the area. "This is Lion, LZ is secured. Awaiting your arrival Roughrider." Lion began inspecting some of the remains at the foot of the giant ramp.
"It seems that every person going on mission is boarded. Permission to proceed, sir?" Yanim asked Jeremy. ((If there's anyone who didn't make it to the hangar in time, it should be alright for them to retroactively be on the Roughrider, correct?))
[Yeah wouldn't be fair otherwise.] "All clear Yanim, take us to the LZ." Jeremy said as he manned the copilot seat.
Lion kneeled down to ome of the bodies. It was a armored soldier clad in a white and black armor with blue stripes. The shattered visor revealed a human skull. Lion removed some of the minor moss present on the chestplate, revealing a symbol in the shape of a shield with a sun on it, alongside a service number. "Sol System Marine Corps..." Said Lion quietly. He removed a small chip from the deceased marines helmet before standing up. He saluted before backing away. Around the dead marine were several Vorcha remains, most likely pirates judging by the makeshift armors.
"Understood." The Roughrider let out a dull roar as the engines throttled up. The rear ramp closed up automatically while Yanim activated the computer-assist. Gun controls were transferred to the copilot's seat where the captain could manipulate them, and slowly the craft lurched forward. The positions of the two fighters were marked on a holographic topography display which allowed them to see the ground through cloud cover and fog throughout the descent. They proceeded briskly but carefully toward the landing area until the structure of interest, the large sphere, became visible to the naked eye. Finally, the craft touched down gently near the fighters and it became clear just how foreboding the scene actually appeared. The whole clearing had been a killing field. The atmosphere inside the Roughrider was optimistic, but tense nonetheless as the ramp lowered itself to the soil. The lights turned green inside the cabin as the engines disengaged. ((I'll be flying across country all day on Saturday, so my posts might be a bit sporadic or I might be absent completely if I can't find an internet connection.))
Lion walked up to Roughrider as soon as Yanim had landed the dropship. As the rear ramp opened up Lion stood ready to greet the rest of the crew. "Good to see you made it."
