Hercules nearly bowled over Lion as he excitedly exited the craft and started investigating the surroundings.
Sledge called him back over with a sharp whistle. Hercules returned with a large dead tree branch in his mouth. Sledge stroked the top of his snout as he turned to Lion. "What's the situation, brother?" Several loud crunches were heard as Hercules chomped down on the branch and began eating it.
Lion stood in awe and looked at the large dinosaur-like creature before turning to face Sledge.
"Are my oculary sensors damaged or is that a Dracobine?"
[Snip. Iska did make it do the cargo ship but not as pilot. Sorry for coming in like this but staying on the ship would have sucked]

"He sure is! Meet Hercules!" Sledge said, giving Hercules a few powerful pats on the shoulder. Hercules had finished his branch and was now searching the ground for any twigs or leaves that had escaped him.
Varn stepped out of the Roughrider and looked around. The swamp gave him a hint of nostalgia for home. All that was missing were the giant lizards(not counting Hercules) lurking in the waters and venomous insects crawling around.
"So, whats our next move?"
"This is what Harken gave you? Hot damn, I used to ride one of these during my patrols on Nukar II." Lion smiled as he approached the large creature.
He extended one of his hands which was currently charging up a small amount of electricity.
Lion slowly reached out to pet the Dracobine at the side of its neck, sending out weak, satisfying, pulses of electricity.

Lion looked at Varn and pointed towards the ramp leading up to the sphere.
"I suggest we investigate that sphere, it's mostly likely related to our mission and I'm getting some very interesting readings from it. I'd be careful though, seems like alot of people have fought over it."
He gestured towards the various remains scattered on and around the hill.
(( Going to sleep. Sledge and Hercules are both NPCs. Good night everyone. :) ))
"Alright, we should move out as soon as everyone is ready."
Iska stepped out of the dropship whilst lighting a cigarette.
She looked around the clearing and frowned. "Iska don't like this climate" she muttered. Compared to her icy homeworld, the humid climate made her very irritable.
Dolosus walked off the Roughrider and did a little hop to straighten his backpack. Using some of the new equipment loaded onto the ship, he had converted this spare bag into a portable battlecomputer and scanner, in case the landing party lost contact with the Archius' AI.
He had brought his rather over-sized gauss cannon, hoping to finally use it properly since Lion had given it to him. The chances weren't look good though, since it was essentially a gun ripped from a light frigate and converted to be man-portable (ludicrously powerful to say the least). From a tactical point of view Dolosus knew it was an ace in the sleeve rather than any sort of practical armament. Especially considering that the gun would issue a verbal warning not to fire from the hip or at point blank, else the operator would break their spine. He slung it over his shoulder and readied his much-smaller SMG as his first response weapon.
"Varn & Iska, with me. We're gonna secure that structure." Said Lion, pointing towards the sphere. He readied his weapon and slowly began to walk up the ramp.
"Let's hope no ancient gods plan a trap once we grab it eh?" Jeremy joked around.
"Knock on wood of course."
"Ancient gods? Probably not. We may run into angry natives though." Varn moved into position "Lead the way, Lion."
Lion slowly approached the structure, having Varn and Iska covering his back. As they reached the top of the ramp they stood at a platform made out of stone.
At the center of the platform was a small strut-like device sticking out of the ground, a line carved into the stone lead from the device to the sphere.
Lion quickly scanned the device before looking at Varn. "Some kind of triggering mechanism, my guess is that it's supposed to open up the sphere."
They moved past the device and approached the sphere. Lion looked up at the large structure. The sphere was a bit larger than Roughrider, it had no visible seams.
The silvery material was still a mystery, however a tiny hexagonal pattern could be seen on the surface.
Lion secured his weapon and opened up the intercom. "All clear up here, I hope one of you are good at puzzles."
He looked at the device which had various figures carved over its surface.
Iska examined the the orb. Eventually she had finished her cigarette and flickef the butt at it. As the butt touched the orb it lost gravitational properties and began floating away whilst slowly desintegrated. She raised her eyebrows in a mix of bafflement and confusion, after all she didn't know what to expect.
"That sure is interesting." Lion threw a stick at the sphere, producing the same result. "Whatever you do, don't touch the sphere."
"Heck I'd be happy if that was how all cigarette butts were disposed of"
"So, question is how are we going to solve this?" Jeremy asked, tapping his foot.
"Well I guess we have a fiddlemajig with this device"
Dolosus kicked the post on which the device was mounted with no response, so he took off his backpack and pulled out a sheet of scan-stickers. He placed them all over the device and tossed away the empty waxpaper. He then whipped out a datapad and attempted to scan the mysterious device that was near the sphere.
"You got any readings? All my sensors show is some kind of mechanical construct inside." Said Lion, observing Dolosus working.
"Usually, when we find these tipes of puzzles, we just blow them up and get the artifacts. Obviously that wont work here. One thing we noticed though, ancient guardians loved leaving clues all around the place."
Varn noticed Dolosus doing his work. "Oh, you're way ahead of me."

"Well I'm kinda cheating here, since I'm pretty sure the ancients didn't account for future visitors using quantum radar scan-stickers to create a 3D map of the device's internal structure"
Mini Roll[8]: Dolosus attempted to scan the object, seeking a way to search for clues. His pad beeped up as the same energy signature from the Oracle Orb was beneath this structure. Now all they need are some hunts how to get it out.
"Looks like there are energy readings coming from straight below us, the same kind that is emitted from the Oracle Orb. A quick sonar pulse shows stone bricks, then dirt, more dirt, then beyond that is fuzzy but apparently it's hard and artificial"
So everyone uhhh, grab a shovel, I guess?"
[Shirtless montage of digging?]
"Is there any way we can trigger the device? Seems easier to open up the sphere and use that way." Lion inspected the markings at the base of the door opener.
"Anyone recognize these symbols? Where's Colin when you need him..."

[Spaceship Crew RP Fanfic: A Journey Across The Galaxy In A Cramped Ship]
[Hey guys I won't be posting much, I'm with my family for my graduation weekend. ]
[ At any rate Viper will still be a NPC for the mean time. ]
Andronicus walked up to the base markers, immediately scanning the message so he can decrypt it for everyone to see. It took no less than a minute on standing on their asses for the code. Andron closed his face port and turned to see everyone. "This message is decrypted, stand by: The future generation will seek the truth, those who desire the piece must prove their moral value for those in need. To prove themselves worthy will reveal."
"Oh boy, a cryptic challenges." Varn turned to the others "What do you guys think?"
