(Now what?)
[Now you get to be on the ship.] Varn got jumped out of the ship. "Hey, get a medical team over here. We have at least two people passed out!" He grabbed the box containing the meat from the unknown creature. "If you need me, Ill be dropping this off to doc Arthur." Varn hurried to the science labs. Once there he knocked on Arthur's door. "Hey, Doctor Beasley. We were attacked by an unknown creature down there. I brought a sample."
Viper landed the Talon into the hanger bay beside the Eagle, Viper jumped out of the Talon after disengaging the tether and reconnecting it to the Exo-suit. "Varn, Take our new guess to see the good doctor with you." Viper Said as the The payload compartment of the talon open up, dropping the unconscious assassin upon cold metal floor of the Hanger bay. Viper looked over the interface of the Exo-suit before heading over to the Captain as he was leaving the Roughrider. "Sir, what's our next course of action?"
Lion stepped out of Eagle and begun carrying the wounded from Roughrider. He suddenly stopped. "I almost forgot." A few moments later the artifact site was blown sky-high.
"We leave this planet far away as possible and contact Harken Saw. Right now we just ran through those swamps barely." Jeremy said with a serious tone applied.
Lion caught up with Jeremy and saluted. "Sir, I'd like to have your permission to connect at my charging station. I haven't charged since before Termina Central. At the same time I could take control of the Archius weapon systems and increase scanner efficiency."
"Absolutely, anything that can probably help us. Thank you Lion for protecting the group." Jeremy said. He looked towards the unresponsive assassin on the floor. "Viper, what is that?"
[ Don't forget about those warheads I left at the swamp......We may have done Divinity Creed job for them..] "Sir it's one of the hostiles that ambushed me as I was heading back to the Talon, I was able to retrieve it while making my way back to the ship." Viper said before turning to overview it. "It's seems to be a soft-carbon that was modified with advanced cybernetics, made into a weapon of war."
Arthur had been cataloging and working on his new subjects acquired from the ever so kind Mr Saw, growing and storing tissue samples in the unfortunate case of a casualty arising from his various experiments and research. The scientist had just about finished, as he heard a sharp knock on the door to the laboratory. He swung it open, intending to fix a stern gaze on the intruder. "Squish, can you NOT SEE how close I am to finis- Oh... hello Varn." He mustered up his friendliest smile. "What's this? From an uncatalogued creature on that mission of yours? Oh my... how very nice." Arthur said, as he quickly scooped the meat sample up and set it on a cleared counter. "I'll be taking a nice look at this. See if I can suss out the genetic makeup and biology of whatever you encountered. I'm glad to see you are unscathed, at least. I had much too much work on my plate to join your fun..." Arthur trailed off, as he looked around Varn. "...Where are the others? Do you have any wounded?"
"It's seems to be a soft-carbon that was modified with advanced cybernetics, made into a weapon of war."
"That machine isn't going to come back to life right? Because right now we don't know what it's capable of. Look, send it to Arthur and once he's done with it I want you to destroy it completely." Jeremy said "Also I'd like to talk to you in private on the bridge." Jeremy walked up and checked up on the rest from the mission.
"Agreed Sir, I will head to the bridge in a few minutes Sir. It won't take too long." Viper said before turning to face the rest of crew as they exited the Roughrider, scanning there life signs though the Visor of the Exo-suit, making sure to keep distance from them. After overlooking the crew, Viper walked into a empty hall outside of the hanger to take a moment to breath and relax. Trying to get over what happen with Iska, thinking if Viper is more of a threat to the rest of the crew then the enemy.
"Jeb is in medical. Iska and one of the new guys, Pippin, are unconscious. Excuse me doc, Ill be right back." Varn went back to the hangar, where the assassin was waiting laying on the ground. Varn started dragging him back to the lab. "Im back, and I brought a friend." Varn placed the assassin in restraints and let his body sit on a chair. "Commander Viper, wants you to take a look at this guy. Supposedly he's mechanically enhanced. Which brings me to a request. Im sure you're aware of the Boome marines being walking genetic experiments. Well, lately I've been experiencing a chemical disbalance and need your help. I can provide you with whatever samples you need to fix me."
"Jeb? That morale fellow? Why in the world did he join your mission? Delusions of grandeur of becoming an enforcer in his position are very, very dangerous. Joseph will handle the injured, while I deal with your issues. Come in, though I'd like to get this done rather quick." Arthur said, opening the door further to allow Varn and his unconscious friend in. "Now, I'm not sure exactly what you want doing, with this gentleman and with your own issues. I'd like to know who he is first, and why I need to 'take a look at him'. As well as this, I must know what you intend for me to do with your... chemical unbalance." Arthur explained bluntly to the mercenary, as he leaned back on the counter to hear Varn's response.
Lion entered his quarters/the weapon workshop and walked up to the charging station. He turned around and backed into it, letting the mounts connect to the rear of his robotic head. His eyes shifted from blue to green as he began recharging, all while taking control of the Archius's systems. He was not alone in this encased virtual void however, another mind was present. "Hello DomeEval, I've been given permission from the captain to assume control of the weapon and sensor systems. Can you help me calibrate the sensors while I start up the weapons?" As the Archius weapons came to life, so appeared a large man-size hologram on the bridge. The hologram had the appearance of a SSFD soldier without his helmet, a nametag on the neckguard revealed the soldier to be a L. Eastlindht. "Much better." said the hologram as he overlooked the bridge. "Captain, weapons and sensors are coming online. Jump engines are charging and we could really need you here at the bridge." Said Lion as several red dots appeared on the big radar screen, they were set on a interception course.
"He's some sort of assassin, that attacked Viper, don't know anything else. Maybe see what makes him tick. Viper wasn't exactly clear about the instructions." "As for my problem, that I can probably explain. I'll give you the short version. The Boome marines are comprised mainly of clones. I can tell by you're expression that you already know this. But here's where it gets ugly. We are cloned from a genetic experiment. That's a whole other story." "The idea was, that we have traits from different species combined, to form a super soldier. But the genius who made us was sloppy. In order for us not to break down and go on a murderous rampage, we have to be pumped with chemicals to keep us in order. Lately It's been harder for me to controll myself while fighting.I don't want to detour the ship to go to Boome just so I can lay in bed for 2 days. That's where you come in. You're the only biologist on this ship, that I can trust. Like I said before. Whatever else you need from me, I can get it to you."
"Of course" Captain Jeremy said, he walked out of the hangar and went to the lift. Going to the bridge
After a few moment's of thinking over things, Viper took a deep breath before preceding over to the elevator that lead to the bridge. Waiting anxiously within the cramped area of the elevator, feelings of regent clouded Viper's mind as Viper took a quick look at the camera before turning to face floor. The elevator reached the floor of the bridge, the feelings of fear and anxiety running Viper's head. The sense of dread made it feel like a eternity to Viper when the elevator stopped, it all was so overwhelming for Viper to take in. Viper froze as the doors open, taking several moments to build the courage to walk slowly though the large metal doors into the brightly lit room. Viper stood in middle of the room, waiting for the Captain as crew members ran back and forth. Readying there next encounter with the incoming Crimson Son fleet as Viper looked over each of them. Reading there history, birthdates and whatever trivia though the visor to get Viper's mind off the current troubles.
Arthur let out a high pitched laugh at Varn's words. "My friend, I completely understand why I'm the only scientist that you can trust on this ship. Joseph is a mad bastard who would turn you inside out in return for a sauerkraut, Jordan would most likely just bash your skull in with a wrench, while Squish... That disgusting little cretin would scour your intestines and bladder without a care in the world, just to acquire his... samples. There's a reason I've been made head of science over this group of utter, utter chucklefucks." Arthur explained to Varn, coldly airing his opinions to the merc willingly. "Alright, clone. I'll see what I can do for your personal problem. See if I can't remove your reliance on chemicals while keeping your psyche in check. Before then, however..." Arthur turned to this assassin, having tied him up while he had conversed with Varn. Arthur wound his hand back, harshly slapping his prisoner awake. "Wake up, you ugly man! I'd like to know exactly what you're doing here. The whole story from the beginning, if you please." [Gonna need you to play the part of the assassin here, Doom.]
The heavy mechanized man activated and simply stared at the head scientist. It had no response but deep breathing, it didn't even move a muscle.
As Lion awaited the Captains' arrival, his hologram produced a beret which he then he put on his virtual head. "I thought I missed something." The dots on the radar screen were slowly approaching, Lion wasn't worried though seeing as the jump engine was nearly done charging. On eof the hostile ships fired off a round which hit Archius's shields, making the ship shake slightly. "That's not good."
The assassin heard the ship of Archius shake by the round of hostile ships pounding their weapons. The assassin could only laugh monotone as it was clear they found them. Jeremy ran to the bridge and sought action, "Evasive firepower Lion on the double!" He said.
edit: [how long are the unconscious going to stay that way?]
"Aye aye Captain; charging rear defenses!" Several muffled bangs could be heard as the Archius's rear cannons returned fire. The radar screen had turned into a tac-screen, showing three crusiers approaching at a rapid speed, of which one was taking fire from the Archius. "Captain, I can keep them at bay for a while however I strongly advise that we jump as soon as the engines and coordinates are ready."
Arthur smirked at the silence. "Heh. Fully expected. Alright, brute. Let's see how far we can take this." Arthur told the man, as he found his global communicator, and put a message out throughout the ship. "This is your head scientist speaking. I require someone with a penchant for electronical mechanics to report to the lab immediately. Bring your best tools." Arthur stated, as he turned off the device and cut an evil stare at Varn. "My friend, if you are adverse to heavy torture, I'd advise you wait in your bunk until this interrogation is over." Arthur said, as the ship began to shake violently. "Hmm. Are we being attacked? I do hope that doesn't impede our progress."
Varn cracked his knuckles. "Doc, torture is how I met my ex-wife. Don't worry about the attack either. Lion and the captain will probably take care of them. Ill be right back. " Varn rushed to the armory to pick up his toolbox. After a few minutes he returned to the science lab. "I admit, my tools aren't the best around. But they should be a good warm-up." [I'm off to bed. Varn is a NPC, helping Arthur.]
Sledge helped Hercules to his feet and got him hobbling to the medical bay. Joseph was probably busy with her so he'd probably have to get one of the medical droids to help. Walking in on the commotion in the medical bay, Sledge found Herc a slightly more quiet and calm corner and requested the services of a droid to help clean, sterilize, and close the wound on his buddy's leg. "You'll be okay, bud. Just hang in there," he said, petting Herc's snout to help distract him from what the droid was doing. Herc clicked a few times in response. Like most treatments of smaller injuries the procedure was over quickly. The droid didn't have data on treating Dracobins but with a little coaxing from a cross-armed and frustrated Sledge treated it as a "general injury" which didn't need a specific species type. Within ten minutes, Herc's procedure was done and the wound covered in an elastic bio-film that held the wound closed and sealed, kept it disinfected, and worked as a painkiller for the surrounding area. It would slowly dissolve overtime as the wound healed on its own. Herc was good as new! Herc hopped to his feet, happy to see that his leg was no longer in pain. Sledge fed him a raw potato and petted his snout. "Atta' boy, Herc! Now let's go get cleaned up!" Sledge said, draping a mud-caked beefy arm over Herc's equally dirty shoulders. Together the two of them walked out of the sterile environment of the medical bay and went to go take a well-deserved shower.
The crusier fired back in response, keeping up with the exchange between each other. A transmission request was sent in from the screen. Jeremy could only groan in frustration. "Captain, I believe this transmission is coming from somewhere else." Shelia said to him as she controlled her machinery. "Accept the call." Jeremy said. He really, really hoped this might be an ally waiting or possibly the enemy taunting them. The transmission was accepted and revealed a masked person in an HarkArk military officer uniform. The officer's hands were behind his back and wore a commissar cap. "Captain Jeremy Spacehawk, I am Colonel Yai Vin Braun. A commander of the HarkArk Privateers, we are here to assist you." The man said, Jeremy felt a rush of calmness run through his veins but they were still on the run. The thing was how did they know they were in danger? There were a lot of questions he wanted to ask but right now wasn't the time, Archius needed to get out of this system quickly. It was their best chance. "Colonel whatever you have at your disposal now is the time to use it, we're getting tailed!" Jeremy said. Braun nodded. "Of course, we'll provide cover for your crew. We are currently in position." He said, just then a group of HarkArk frigates appeared in front of them from the far distance. Right now Archius XI was between two fleets, one was Crimson Son and HarkArk. A spacebattle. "What is your ship's status?" Braun asked. "Archius XI is currently at minor damage to its hull, we can't afford to fight at this current moment. They caught us by surprise." Jeremy insisted. Braun activated his holo band, indicating the coordinates for an outpost far away. "Typical strategy by these men. These coordinates will show you a safe place." Braun explained. "Lion, update the coordinates."
"Aye aye, replotting coordinates Captain." The hologram adjusted his beret before putting both of his hands behind his back. "Coordinates plotted, jump engines ready. We're ready to make the jump."
"Alright, let's jump. Good luck Colonel." Jeremy said.
Overhearing the com chatter on her tablet, Yanim diverted discretionary power from nonessentials throughout the ship into the warp drive, building power up to reach the necessary threshold faster than normally possible. Nobody seemed to notice the difference, but Yanim had more important priorities than recognition. She was just pleased that none of the power needed to be siphoned from the shield array. There were two separate repair operations Yanim was attending to. First, the Archius itself required attention, as it had been attacked off-guard and received physical damage. Second, the ships in the hangar bay all needed to be inspected, evaluated, and restored to proper flight conditions. Droids would carry out the former using exact specifications from a newly-written maintenance docket directive, while the latter would be accomplished by Yanim directly with the help of less regulated droids. Undaunted and exhilarated, she attended to all of her engineering tasks.
"Initiating jump." Said Lion, moments before the ship jumped to the selected coordinates.
