"Well make sure the Crimson sun, will bite off more than they can chew." Lion taped Varn on the shoulder. "Detailed vital scans from my own ocular sensors." "Good, well adjust the training to better prepare the crew. Now if you two would excuse me, I have to make sure Byron doesn't brake François in half." Varn exited the hangar and went to the gymnasium.
Pippin leaned against the wall, breathing heavily, and offered a hand to jeb.
Lion nodded to Varns reply. "I'll prep 'em for the next exercise." He looked at Kira. "Ma'am." Lion did a quick nod before walking up to the group of exhausted crewmembers. "Good job team, to be honest you did better than most of us expected. I'd like for you all to head to the armory in five hours as that is where we'll have the next exercise: the shooting range." Lion then dismissed himself and went for the armory.
Varn arrived at the gymnasium. He looked at François and Byron. Both men didn't cooperate during training. Something along the lines of Byron being to brutish and vulgar for François refined taste and something else, about François being so far up his ass, he could taste stomach acid. They both agreed to air it out in a supervised boxing match. Varn exchanged his standard uniform for the black and white striped referee uniform. All three men got into the ring. The bell rang... and François fell down in the first punch. "Well that was anti-climactic. You win Byron. Get back to your duties." Next up was Saint Tussor. It was agreed to be a wrestling match. "OK big guy, I'm giving you one last chance to go hit the bag and not me." "Lets get this over with." "Your choice. Alright, standard 15 minute match. First pin to 3 wins. Ready, go!" [doomevil, can I trouble you for a roll to see how the match goes. Just a roll would be enough, no description needed.]
[I got a 5 for a roll.]
Hearing Joseph's request, Dwan goes and gets him a helles in a maßkrug. "Sorry if it took so long.", he tells Joseph. Dwan decides to return to the bar, needing a drink himself. As he makes himself a piñita colada, he realizes something. By the left of the bar counter, there is a jukebox, while underneath the counter, there is a media player, where he inserted his data storage device weeks ago. He notices how both are linked to one another, aswell as how both are linked to the PA speakers in the bar. Then, he notices that someone tinkered with the wiring in the jukebox, as so to play music outside of the bar. As he wonders who could've done such a thing, he decides to try and put the wiring back in its original state. But Dwan isn't a engineer, and accidentally links all of the speakers on the ship to the jukebox. Thinking he fixed it, Dwan decides to play a tune. He gives the jukebox a knock and it starts playing Pink Floyd's "Shine On You Crazy Diamond". As it plays, he realizes two things. He messed up the wiring and that the song playing is that song. As his eyes widen in response to the song, he tries to make the jukebox stop, but it is in vain. The entire ship is playing the song. He sits on one of the chairs in the bar and balances himself on it with the help of a nearby table, as he relaxes back and remembers why he avoids this song at all costs.
[Thank you] The match was a rough experience for both men. It wasn't clear who was going to win it. Varn was more experienced from fighting with his brothers, but Tussor made up for it with strengths and he would hit really hard. Every time Varn thought, he had him pinned, Tussor would send him in the air or crashing in the corner. And every time Tussor, thought he had Varn pinned, he would raise his shoulder or put his foot on the rope. The last exchange came when, Varn managed to get behind him and deliver a suplex only for Tussor get up and deliver an uppercut before collapsing next to him. The time ran out. Both crew mates sat down exhausted. "Now, that you had the chance to beat me up, are you feeling better?" Tussor just nodded."Will you work with the others now, without any trouble?" another nod "How did you learn to fight like that, anyway?" "I take care of animals, sometimes, they fight and I have to get between them." "OK, your free to go to do your duties on the ship." Varn got up and changed back to his uniform. He left the gymnasium and went up to the bar.
Dwan doesn't notice Varn arriving. He just continues balancing himself on his chair, looking uncomfortable as the song continues playing.
Varn sat down on his usual spot. His body was aching from the match. "Give me a beer Dwan. Good job during training by the way. Everyone, who didn't cause trouble did good." He noticed Dwan was looking uncomfortable. "Ehmm, is something wrong?"
Dwan wasn't responding at all. He was just balancing himself on his chair. Soon, the song finishes. Dwan snaps out of it and stops balancing himself. He notices Varn sitting in front of the counter. He rushes over to the counter, embarrassed by his unresponsiveness. As he didn't hear what Varn said, Dwan just assumes he wanted a beer. He pours him a glass and hands it to him, as he goes back to cleaning dirty glasses.
Squish had been keeping samples of the tomato monster locked away. He began to do tests on its composition to see if he could determine what caused the tomato to mutate. Hopefully he could find out with the little amount of samples he has left and a non living specimen. He poured the paste into test tubes and began his work. (Don't know if this is an action.)
After the training had concluded, Sledge decided to help Hercules out of his barding and give him a chance to run around unhindered. The two of them headed to the bar. Sledge took a seat at the bar near the end and Herc sat on the floor next to him. "Hey Dwan, can a brother get a beer?" he asked cheerfully. Hercules clicked a few times expectantly. "Oh, and something for Herc too please. Literally anything expendable will do."
Dwan hears Sledge and Hercules enter, as they ask for a beer and something expendable. Dwan hands Sledge a glass of beer. Dwan searches underneath the counter to see if there is anything he doesn't need. He finds a plastic cup. He throws it at Herc, who catches it in his mouth.
Iska watched as the crewmembers gradually dispersed from the training course. "Not so easy after all," she mused as she took out a cigarette. Yanim, sitting back on a pile of storage crates, was silently contemplating their performance and wondering how in the hell Iska could smoke so soon after running the obstacle gauntlet. She eventually climbed down onto her tired legs and beckoned Skada over. "Is that lifter still in place?" she asked as she retrieved her toolbox. "Eh? Yeah, just where we left it. You're going to fix?" "I think we should be knowing what happened, at least..." Iska smiled, exasperated. Either Yanim really never stopped working, or she was paranoid. With a shrug, she walked along as the kanad wondered aloud about the various components of an industrial lift and where the fault might lie.
The cup cracked and crunched as Hercules contently chewed it apart. Sledge sipped his beer and turned to Varn. "Good workout today, brother!" Sledge flexed his other arm assuredly.
Pippin wiped the sweat from his brow and headed to take a (really) quick shower. When he was done he headed to the bar and slumped over the counter.
Dwan noticed Pippin slumping over the counter. "Whatcha' need?", he asks him.
"Coke, diet" Pippin sighed
Jeb took Pippin's hand and was helped up. He saw a lot of people going to the bar, so he'd go join them. "Hey Dwan, beer on the rocks, if you please"
Dwan gives Pippin and Jeb a glass of Diet Coke and a beer on the rocks, respectively. Dwan notices how the bar is getting crowded. That training did make people quite thirsty.
Varn was a little confused, from Dwan's behavior. "Are you feeling ok, Dwan?" Before he could get his answer Sledge and Hercules walked in the bar. "Good workout today, brother!" "You guys did all the work, Sledge. I just stood next to the major and yelled obscenities and discipline some of the washouts." He looked around the bar. "Every person here did a great job, doesn't matter if they won or lost."
[Doing a time skip, so people won't have to talk about the daily workout today. And yup another huge post, well hey you guys are doing nam' flashbacks might as well do this. I apologize if someone was planning to do something but you could always do it still.]
A dark armored figure was sent in to the bright red interior, filled with all known language across the Galaxy. Another figure sprang from the crypt as it followed the first man. They both walked up to the center, slowly having their matter decrypting to another place. The men's matter were resorted out once they were in another place where another two figures stood. The place was dark and crimson, just like any typical underground base at bay. Both observed the decor and noticed their allies were here. "What took you so long?" A feminine voice said, crossing her arms in contempt for the two recent arrivals. "Minor setbacks in our schedule. I believe that the Richter called for this meeting, did he not?" A deep voice said. "Indeed." A man in a cape walked in, large pauldrons covered his shoulders marching across the room to seek out four of his comrades. Each looked at one another, gazed at the symbol encased near the wall. "True be told, I'd imagine that the Richter will be pleased." A figure said. "Satisfied of what? The operation of Gadon was a wasteful scenario that bought us nothing but suspicion." The female voice said. "Suspicion is a small price to pay for progress. HarkArk may have succeeded in capturing the piece but we now know of their agents who act as an envoy for the Oracle. It is clear that their presence will be known." The female turned away. "Are their current whereabouts found?" "No, leads are not identifiable. But worry not Mariahlus, we have better opportunities to seek than to locate them at this moment." "They're hiding aren't they?" Another deep raspy voice came, one with a large cybernetic claw that extended scratching the surface of the table. "Most certainly, which is why we should deal with current situations that alarm us to other races. Then once that is done, we refocus on creating pressure to Harken Saw's power government and destabilize his structure." He stopped dead once he found the screen became blank, but the only form of visuals they all saw was plain text. The text was vague at best saying "Find witnesses, seek out previous locations." Then the screen awaited for a response. "That message was vague." A male figure said. "Obviously, like always." Mariahlus deadpanned, placing her hands on her hips. "What about other governments?" "The assigned legislator will handle all publicity issues." The text said, putting out the blueprints of the Archius XI. "Hmm, I hope that is the case. HarkArk, they currently have two and if we don't find the rest then they'll be sure to speed up the arms race." The raspy voice exclaimed. "Patience, their moment of victory will be short lived. This is only the first step to mark them out. Blood will be spilled for the name of our ideals." The deep voice sprang, hands pressed among the table as the other four went behind him, gazing at the screen like a pack of guardians. "A total war?" "No, if a last resort calls for it." The text said. The figure in large dark armor turned to face his allies. "It is settled, prep the action of covert. This is only the beginning of our movement, no witnesses, only allegiance. Those who cross us will endure death itself..." He said.
Day 38 As the days went by the Archius Crew performed training almost daily. They weren't used to their schedules being changed so dramatically. A delay in schedule has caused for them to stay another week. They groaned at the sight of practice but at least they could be prepared for threats more. [This is it, the 3rd Act of the story. Critical failures will be more harsher and I'm just gonna put this out that any character in the story might not survive. This is the part where everything comes to place and the threat will become greater and much more dangerous. There will be hope, but there will also be pessimism. Be careful, this is the beginning of a darker journey...]
Lion pulled back the bolt. With a loud click it went into place. He looked into the sight and saw the marked target on the other side of the hangar bay. "Test 7, LWA Class 2 Railgun. Magnetics at 140%." The target was a concrete wall with a red cross on it. He aimed down and slowly squeezed trigger and before he knew it the muzzle and barrel moved backwards as a loud bang signaled that a shot had been fired. He looked up from the scope and laughed. Looking down again he could see that not only had the center of the concrete wall been destroyed, but the four other walls behind it had also taken damage. A small camera drone relayed feed of the walls to a datapad next to Lion, showing that the two rear walls that had been reinforced with armor had taken as much damage as the rest of the walls. Finally, a wooden target positioned behind the five walls had lost most of it's upper parts. Lion smiled and packed up the railgun. "Test complete."
The last 2 weeks have been relaxing and stressful for Dwan. The fact that they've stayed in one place for this long has made Dwan quite nervous. The stress has made his usual slicked back hair turn into a more shaggy looking haircut. It also increased his Raktajino consumption. Training went as usual during this time. Dwan and Sledge proved to be quite the team these last two weeks. At some point during weapons training, Dwan asked Lion if he can train with olden weapons such as swords and polearms, providing the reason that he used to dabble in the martial arts of weaponry. Their first session proved to Lion that Dwan was quite above-average in terms of skills, impressing him. Dwan's also been practicing his aim with his revolver, due to his below-average revolver skills. He's also seen twirling his revolver a lot. While his Howitzer proved to be quite the weapon in training, no one can figure out how he got the weapon in his possession. In the bar, Dwan was drinking his daily cup of Raktajino as he followed the news.
INTERGALACTICA INTERGALACTIC OLYMPICS 2384 HOST PLANET CHOSEN --- After the IOC session, it has been decided that planet Saiya will be the host planet for the 2384 Intergalactic Olympics, barely beating out planet Dakara. --------- WAR STRIKES ON LATIUM --- The human planet of Latium has erupted into war, as a linguistic battle between those who spoke Contemporary Latin and those who spoke Classical Latin managed to spark a large scale planet-wide war. An official statement from Sol states that a war caused by linguistics was bound to happen on Latium, but that they didn't expect it to become so big. Latium is one of many planets colonized and named by Sol where linguistic experimentation takes place. --------- HUMANS CALL UGC OUT ON CONLANG BIAS --- The representatives of Terra, Sarmatia and Germania to the United Galactic Community; Théodore le Sieg, Bronwen Snilye and Guchdid Hansson; called out the UGC yesterday for its biased view of language, saying that languages such as English, Chinese, Arabic, French and Latin are more important that the UGC's choice of lingua franca for human-xeno communication, Esperanto. Many other races, such as the Klingons and the Chozo, state their agreeance with the humans. The UGC has yet to comment.
Dwan suddenly remembers when he was forced to learn Esperanto because of his profession. He hopes the UGC changes its policy soon. He puts down the tablet as he goes and cleans his empty cup.

Damian, I can understand that you appreciate Esperanto as a conlang, but we've both already agreed that it's absolutely, completely impracticable to have been honestly adopted in a serious fashion. I get that you've changed it up to make it seem retarded in-universe and that people are on their way to changing it, but shoving this shit in because you think it's cute and expecting people to take it as canon is ridiculous, especially given the implications behind using Esperanto; that it might actually effect us, and make us "use" it. I'm not going to follow this.]
(Woah there, lets definitely not have any fights on here, okay?)
(Woah there, lets definitely not have any fights on here, okay?)
[Don't worry, it's not a fight. I'm questioning something absurd that I previously told Damian would be impracticable, something that he agreed. I'm simply refusing to take it as canon.]
The engineering workshop was a mess. Every available surface was taken up by a wide selection of experiments and research, the floor was dirty, and the air smelled of oil. The music of Sleater-Kinney could be heard emanating from a portable music player, periodically interrupted by the sound of tools being shuffled around. Yanim was hunched over one of the tables, working with an extremely small, yet high-resolution holographic projector. Iska's analysis of the Crimson Son cybernetics had revealed, among many other things, that their foes' cloaking technology was based on holography, although nothing usable had been salvaged from the heavily-damaged devices. They would need to start from scratch if they were ever going to be able to reproduce such an effect, although Yanim was committed to finding the answer. For the time being, she had nothing else to do. She had postponed her surgery by over a week in order to accommodate the physical training the crew was made to endure, and so it had only been three days since the YS-NZ1 was surgically implanted into her brain by Joseph, and her motor skills were still extremely hampered. Until she could make a full recovery, she would be forced to walk with a cane, speak with a stutter, and wear braces on her arms to steady her hands. Annoyingly, it was her own biology which was slowing the enhancement process; if her brain had accepted the implant immediately, she would be installing augmentations at the moment. On a positive note, her recent efforts had paid off for the crew thanks to the introduction of the Valkyrie attachment for Lion's Knight armor system. Valkyrie utilized kanad-style repulsor circuits, like the ones on her hoverbike, to push against the ground and ease the load carried by her crewmates, allowing them to wear heavier protection and carry more weaponry. More importantly, it could also push against the air itself, creating a pocket of high pressure like a parachute. It could slow the wearer to a stop from terminal velocity if need be, although it could only maintain such force for three seconds, making such deceleration somewhat painful, but manageable. Along with Valkyrie, she had also experimented with hydraulics as a means of increasing physical strength. Using sleeves made from high-pressure tubing, elastics, and carefully-machined valves, Yanim was able to demonstrate the technology by increase her own lifting ability by 40%, before the surgery, of course. However, such a design has many drawbacks, most notably the slow speed of the hydraulic pumps involved as well as the liability of sudden loss of pressure. She vowed to return to the design after recovering.
(( Not happy about the time skip out of nowhere. I was actually looking forward to talking to people for once. It seems like I don't get to that often unless it's like "You got it, brother!" Plus there was something I wanted to do but I can't do it retroactively. I'll write a post later. Sledge is an NPC for now. ))
[Yo, sorry man I should have asked if it was alright to skip, I really wanted to advance the story. For what it's worth this will be the last time to do a large time skip for this.]
