"To close the Conduit will kill all of us. That is why you're here. To destroy it and fulfill Harken Saw's wish." Mariahlus said furiously ... Sertum turned and pulled away before overlooking the citizen. “This future is unwritten for us. The road right now may look grim. But the people of the Crimus will not give up, you won't give up. No matter how impossible these odds are... Pave your own way out.” ... Harken Saw and Vara walked out of the ship and into the battlefield where no man will walk again.
Dwan was stumped for a moment. "What's the Conduit?", he asked her. He may know about its existence, but he is still unaware of its name.
"You damn know what it is. You won't go near it." Mariahlus controlling Dwan fired at Ject who was firing the bipedal man. Mini Roll[4]: Ject heard few shots firing at him and braced for cover. "Oh shit, hold your fuckin fire!" He yelled as he shot a few bullets, landing at Dwan's chest. ... Sertum walked pass the wrecked cars and saw Privateers firing at him. He swiped his sword and sprinted. He was coming... Dwan POSSESSED: 0
Dwan still couldn't control himself, as he received a few shots from Ject after he was forced to shoot him. At least his armor was keeping him safe. "Are you talking about the dimensional energy? Normally, one doesn't give that names because, well, you could really fuck shit up with that.", Dwan responded. "But whatever the case, as far as we know, Saw doesn't know about this Conduit. Heck, as you know from seeing my memories, our group found out about it after....... the only sane one of you died.", he told her. "But we had no idea that this Conduit was so connected to the people here. What have you even doing with it? Don't you know the risks of using dimensional energy?", he asked. After he sent his message, he gained control of his body again. He looked at Iska saddened for a second, before grabbing his revolver and checking Andrast's ammo.
"You bastards. Blaming your own ignorance without even knowing what you're doing here in the first place!" Mariahlus yelled to herself. She was prepared to shoot Dwan until a sudden boom engulfed the entire building. The entire ceiling had drillers emerging out of the walls and floors. Privateers marched their way out of the tunnels and forced their way by any means necessary. "Our focus is now on the soldiers!" A NCO yelled out. Adeptors flew out of the holes and set up shop as chaos loomed the entire city. Harken Saw and Vara walked along the area and stared at the deployment of troops within the sector. "Do not shoot the Citizens. I'll have you killed if you do so." Harken Saw commanded. He saw the city and shook his head.
Lion got up with help from a Boome marine and decided to deploy some extra armor. Suddenly Several new armor plates deployed to cover Lion's weakpoints and other gaps in his armor. Lions eyes turned red a moment before he started running at an alarming speed towards Mariahlus with his wrist-mounted plasmablades deployed.
After he reloaded Andrast and holstered both it and his revolver, Dwan sighed. With what Mariahlus now knew, he knew she would be hellbent on killing him. Her knowing his secret was a risk to him. His fist shook as he knew what he had to do. Mariahlus had to die. Dwan saw as Lion rushed towards Mariahlus before a sudden boom engulfed the entire building. "Lion!", Dwan yelled at him, before the entire building collapsed.
Gretel and Kaede sat patiently near the warm seats. Gretel was laying close to her big sister and wondered what was her mom up to at this alarming rate. "Kaede." Gretel spoke. Kaede widened her eyes and saw her little sister shaking. "Yeah?" She responded. "Is Mom going to be alright?" Kaede rolled her eyes and pretended to be calm. "I-I don't know, she's always busy. But at the same time she handles a lot of things." Kaede gave her a petty answer. Gretel shook her head and held on to her sister's arm tight. "I miss her." Kaede laid her eyes on Gretel and sighed, holding her hand. "I know you do. I miss her too." ... "Military craft spotted. Fire at will!" A Privateer bomberman said before it launched a missile. The missile locked on and caught up to the tail of the craft. The missile collided, an explosion engulfing the aircraft. "Target eliminated, report to the makeshift landing pads and we'll prep another one." The pilot said before making a u-turn. ... Sertum stared at the traumatizing event and clenched his hand. ... "Well done ladies and gentlemen." Harken Saw said to the crew once at last. He had his hands in his pockets and saw the building collapse under its weight. "There's another Auditor we need to deal with. To end this we must kill him. But there's also another matter. The Oracle is hiding among us. Not to mention another power source..." Harken Saw explained as he turned to Vara with a stern eye.
Lion managed to halt himself just as the building collapsed. His robotic body returned to its original form as he turned around to face the squad. "Too close."
Harken Saw stared at the scenery and wondered about a dwelling news he heard about a strange incident regarding a giant mech and some crew. He simply laughed at the realization of these mysterious people. Vara turned to him and narrowed her eyes. "I had a strange feeling. A sense of unpredictable motion." Harken Saw said to Vara. "She really wanted to prove a point even if it meant going on a suicide mission. So, interesting. I wonder what she plans to do after this." Harken Saw said before pressing a few buttons on his holoband.
You're awfully determined in the midst of a suicide battle. Going through hell and back. You've gathered my interest. In other words, you've earned your stripes. 2 billion, a hefty prize. If I make it out alive I am interested to see what will you turn out. But if I die here, there is something you should know once this feud with the CS is over. - Harken Saw
Mercury looked at the rubble with suspicion. "Remember the last time we berried one of these guys? That didn't turn out so good."
She turned around and spotted the worn kanads which looked as if they been through hell and back. "Are you wounded?"
Gataska looked herself over and noticed the extent of the stains on her clothes. Slightly disgusted, she shook her head. "<This blood isn't mine,>" she explained reached into her pack and pulled out a surgical multi-tool. She flicked a scalpel blade out with a loud click and pointed the tip at herself- "I am doctor," she said, feigning a polite air. "That one needs a transfusion, I think," Neasha mumbled, motioning in Rask's direction. "Have any synthblood?" ---
I want an answer to a question that's been bugging me ever since our ship joined the fleet." Seth took a step closer "What is State Sec doing here?"
Yanim was confused at first, until she realized that Seth was talking about her crew. She had nearly forgotten that they had impersonated the SS in order to locate Termina Central, and that they were all carrying leftover equipment from the Hanza raid. Upon further thought, the question seemed rather pointless and naïve. If she were on some kind of covert mission, no doubt she would have a cover story and false identities for everyone. "If we were really from the SS, wouldn't I be obligated to answer that with a lie?" Yanim finally answered with a hint of annoyance. "If the Collective had something to gain from this conflict they would have sent the Batakya or GKVR. I don't know what their stance is on this conflict but it has nothing to do with us. We're in this for the money." Yanim's tablet chimed with an incoming signal, and so she paused briefly to check the sender and saw that it was Harken Saw. "Speaking of which..."
Yanim quickly verified the transaction and ensured that the money was safe. She tucked it away into the company's hidden accounts so that no one could take it from her. Had it come at a better time, she would have been breathless, overjoyed. But for now, she was still distraught from the loss of her crewmate and embittered that she had been regarded worthless by Saw earlier that very day. She replied:
If I had the ability, I would undo everything that I ever did for you.

If I had the ability, I would undo everything that I ever did for you.
Harken Saw chuckled at the blessful sight. "Wishful thinking. Unfortunately you've never done anything for me." ... Archer, Storm, and Deadeye walked up to the city and saw the amount of Privateers crawling in from all fronts. Archer cocked his carbine and was ready to face another batch of scum. "These fuckers are tearing this place apart! Where are the Synergy ports?!" Archer said aloud as the flames grew from each building. Deadeye gestured and restrained Archer from making sudden movements as Adeptors flew by. "Calm it down a notch before you alert somebody. You got cloakers, use them." He instructed both of them before activating his own. "Stick together and we'll make it out alive." Deadeye said before sneaking through the blocks. "Heh. I wish I had your optimism right now." Archer said as he followed pursuit. Deadeye gave a smirk and advanced. "Trust me my friend, when you're hitting rock bottom the only way out is to climb up." Archer sighed noticing Storm was in the middle while he was at the tail following the head. Deadeye wondered for a short minute and opened his mouth. "I have a question for you Archer. Where do you see yourself for the next 8 years?" "Well, if I'm not dead in the next hour I'd say I'll still be fighting. AWOL or not. But what's there on that road eh? Killing more enemies until I crack? I'll be honest, I don't think retirement is in my agenda now." Archer explained as Storm listened. Deadeye considered his thoughts for mere moments until he responded again. "I just... I just want peace." The flames in each building started to disappear as all of them pass by from the chaos. It what seemed like an eternity did they finally met with Crimus Authority securing the areas and escorting people to the ports. All three of them uncloaked and stared at the ship upahead. Deadeye stared, turning to Archer and gave him a grin. "You'll find that peace, someday. It's not our call. Not yet, but we'll find it." Deadeye concluded as Storm gazed at the ship. Archer nodded and walked close with his new allies. The trio looked above and saw the label called Jaigo. They pressed forward and awaited their departure.
"Most of us are in it for the money." Seth shot a look at Mordecai then back at Yanim."Others, not so much. I don't believe you when you say that you have no ties to StateSec. That gun and your friend's uniform have to have come from somewhere. But, you are right that you would lie to me to cover your tracks if you were from the SS. You're no mercenaries either, don't try to pass as such. Which means that you are probably a salvage crew looking for a score. So let me change the question. Why would a salvage crew risk their lives the way you did?"
The medic nodded and extended her hand. "<Hannah Davis, field medic.>" She said in kanad. As Neasha then explained the situation Davis motioned for Rask to sit down in a nearby bed. She nodded towards Gataska and Neasha. "You'll be my assistants today it seems." Davis then opened up a small locker and produced a small pouch of orange synthblood as well as some kind of nanite pod. She gave the pouch towards Neasha and pointed at a device next to the bed. "Insert the pouch into the open slot and then position the needle at the center of his arm, preferably along an artery." Davis then sat down and looked at Gataska. "<You're going to help me with this.>" Together Gataska and Davis used the modify nanite pod to apply medical nanites directly onto Rask's internal and external injuries. ----- Kaspar chuckled. "Seth this is starting to sound like an interrogation." He approached Yanim and extended his hand. "Hi, Colonel Kaspar Cross of the SDF. Regardless of your motive I thank you and your crew on behalf of all of my boys and girls. Because despite it self-destructing, which nobody could have foreseen, you did eliminate one of the biggest threats here today."
Yanim shrugged at Seth's line of thinking. "There's a joke on my planet about a mine driller. He spends every day drilling deeper and deeper into the ground, far below the mineshafts worked by the rest of his company. Each day the work gets hotter, more strenuous, and more dangerous. Ventilation is poor. He nearly dies on one occasion, and again the next day, and neighbors begin to question whether he's gone mad. Finally the foreman pulls him aside and demands to hear his rationale." "And?" "The miner tells the foreman that he hates himself, because he grew up wanting to be something more than a miner, but failed. He hates his life at home because his wife and children nag at him constantly for comforts that he can't afford to buy them. He wants to die in some sort of accident, unless he can strike the motherlode first and live a life of luxury. And so the foreman calls the health officials. They put the miner in a psych ward." Seth seemed annoyed. "That's supposed to be funny?" "No, the funny thing is that it was a salt mine." Yanim sneered sarcastically. "Sometimes people decide to dig down because they're looking for salvation, sometimes they're just delusional. Some people are just waiting for the world to swallow them up." "Uh-huh." "You asked why we risked our lives today. The short truth is that our previous lives weren't working out so well, so we decided to start digging down. Believe it or not, I was a ship's chief engineer working for HarkArk before all this. Rask had a promising career in the GKVR. Things went very wrong for both of us when we crossed paths, and now I hold a pistol that his late comrade Damya used to shoot me once, and his face was half destroyed by a Boome who worked for my old crew. It's bizarre how paths cross like that. "And neither of us can go home to Kanadys now, thanks to our misfortune, but at least we had a home planet. That serek, Neasha, is our pilot, and she has nowhere to call home. She was a smuggler, and so obviously everything she had was tied up in that ship we just crashed into the mech. I'm sure what we did today wasn't absolutely necessary, but in the face of who we were and the lives we were living, digging down seemed like the natural choice." [editline]4th January 2016[/editline] Gataska nervously worked on Rask's injuries once more with Davis' help, quietly agonizing over her earlier comments and fearing what might happen when Rask tells Yanim about them. Neasha did as she was told, hoping that she would be helpful despite not knowing what she was doing. "[Keep an eye on her...]" Rask grumbled. "[She's fine,]" Gat responded, trying not to offend Davis. "[I was talking to the human,]" Rask retorted. ((Formatting note- I use <these brackets> when a translator device is being used, and [these brackets] when the natural language is being spoken. It provides context for who can understand what's being said, e.g. Neasha, who would understand the former but not the latter.)) --- "Hi, Colonel Kaspar Cross of the SDF. Regardless of your motive I thank you and your crew on behalf of all of my boys and girls. Because despite it self-destructing, which nobody could have foreseen, you did eliminate one of the biggest threats here today." Yanim shook Cross' hand. "That's a flattering statement, but it's unfortunately far from the truth, depending on the definition of 'threat.' Ultimately, this war was instigated by human elites. So long as your race is divided into unregulated factions, I fear this sort of conflict might soon become commonplace. The UGC doesn't seem to have any power to stop it."
The part about the Yanim's former crew had Seth wondering for a second. A brother working with a kanad on a HarkArk ship. By the looks of it, proficient in torture. It couldn't be. The odds of that being the case were too high. Besides, Varn was far from the only exile working alone. And yet, he knew he couldn't let it go. "I see. For what it's worth, I'm sorry to hear your lives took a turn for the worst like that. One final question and you're free to do whatever you want. Be it resupplying, rest or digging down deeper. What was the name of the Boome who worked with you?"
(and now my account was being weird so i missed a bunch again, crap)
Davis smirked. "[Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on her.]" She looked at Neasha and Gataska. "What are your names?" ----- Kaspar chuckled. "A honest kanad who's not afraid to speak her mind, now that is something out of the ordinary." He sat down on a nearby box. "It's sad though because sadly your words are true. There's too many human factions around the galaxy, some of us have learned from the mistakes of our bloody past while some have not." He paused and lit a cigar. "Hell, as much as I hate to admit it the Crimson Son are probably one of the better factions in terms of laws and unity amongst their ranks. It's a shame they cause so much mess and play around with things not meant for mere mortals." His gaze returned to Yanim. "As for the UGC, personally I think they're a joke. Sol, hell, most system and planetary governments would do better without them. But hey, what do I know? I'm just a soldier."
"I see. For what it's worth, I'm sorry to hear your lives took a turn for the worst like that. One final question and you're free to do whatever you want. Be it resupplying, rest or digging down deeper. What was the name of the Boome who worked with you?" Seth's sympathy did little to improve Yanim's mood, but she accepted it nonetheless. His assistance might prove essential to getting her remaining crew off the planet safely. "Varn Merner. Good fighter and drinker. Terrible negotiator. Perhaps you know him?" Before Seth could answer, Kaspar interjected in response to Yanim's earlier comments about the state of humanity. Yanim nodded along as he spoke, silently noting the clarity of mind possessed by the SDF colonel. Many kanad statesmen had proclaimed over the years that if the Sol System's leadership were to extend over all humans, there would be greater chance for peace and cooperation between the races. Yanim was inclined to agree, but only if the kanad military and intelligence community were willing to examine themselves with a critical eye, as this human had just done. "But hey, what do I know? I'm just a soldier," Kaspar said as he concluded his musings. "Sometimes the truth hangs around in the air, and everyone gets paid not to smell it. I've read news reports claiming that the Collective is granting early commissions, boosting their officer corps. Their ships are massing near the border zones as well. I can only imagine what the Batakya's marines must be thinking right now while their leaders talk on and on about defense." --- Davis smirked. "[Don't worry, I'll keep an eye on her.]" She looked at Neasha and Gataska. "What are your names?" The serek and the kanad introduced themselves. Not for lack of trying, they failed to find anything to talk about.
"Now that is something I agree on. Now if you'll excuse me, I have troops that needs tending to. Pleasure to meet you." Kaspar then excused himself and went to inspect his soldiers located on the hill. ----- As Davis continued to monitor Rask, she tried her best at loosening up the trio. "Two kanads and a serek, huh? I've only met a handful of kanads before and you, Neasha, must be the first serek I've come across. Seems like the three of you are a long way from home?"
"You let him try to negotiate a sensitive situation, didn't you?" Seth shook his head. "Don't tell me any details, I'll pry them out of him when I see him again. Small galaxy. Well, I guess I owe you more than just thanks if that's the case." Seth gestured to one of the men on guard. "I don't know if you picked up on it, but you and the rest of the Archius are considered friends. No only because of bringing a lost brother back, but because what you did on Duroma. I had these made as a token of gratitude and an apology for going through all that." The same soldier brought a small crate in. He opened it and revealed a row of finely crafted combat knives. "I assume things went sour between you and the rest of the crew since you're here and they wen't underground. So I should give you your share now. Saronite alloy, cut's through most armor like butter and the hilt has a build in distress beacon. Activate it and anyone of us who is nearby will come to your aid. Pick whichever one you want and do whatever you want with it. Just disable the beacon if you plan to sell it." He turned his attention back at the map. "Other than that, you're free to go." --- "Lion, everyone seems to be ok. Ready for you to give the order."
"Form up, let's get moving." Said Lion as the squad resumed moving through the streets, stumbling upon a platoon of privateers and Harken Saw himself. "Well this is a surprise."
Iska was both confused and frustrated when the battle was suddenly over and Dwan was back to himself. Things were getting out of hand and Iska was having trouble to keeping track of everything, and it annoyed her to no end. She picked up the HMG and followed Lion. When she spotted Saw she narrowed her eye and gave him a dirty look. --- The hologram projector engaged in General Zhu's office and the image of Yun Tojo appeared. He was slender and very gaunt, his coat covered in a wide range of medals. "Well well, it appears that you are playing your cards similarly as we have anticipated." He spoke softly. "Not that it creates any problems for us, but seeing predictions meet themselves is always satisfying. Now, what mutual goals can we assist you with this time?"
Dwan was still feeling smeckledorfed after his possession. For some reason, he believed Mariahlus was still alive, as people like her don't die even if you drop a colony on them. As he looked at Saw, he knew he would have to request that they search the place. He got up next to Lion. "Mariahlus fucked up the power source and the mode switching mechanism in my howitzer. Can you give 'em a look?", he asked him.
"Of course." Lion then helped Dwan by scanning the entire backpack. "This shouldn't take long." Using a surgical laser and some other tools Lion managed to restore the weapon once more. "Remind me to do a complete reparation once we get back to the Archius."
Dwan nodded. "Thanks, man.", he said. He sighed, as he waited for whatever next was going to happen.
Meanwhile on Terra... The sun was reflected off of the three black-colored hovercars. They were sleek and fast, moving along a wide street surrounded by white buildings. "Defender to Base, three minutes to target. How copy?" "Copy that Defender, situation is green. Procceed as planned." Three minutes later the vehicles pulled up infront of a large building sided by two large gardens. A fenced perimter surrounded the entire area and guardsmen from the Sol Interior Guard wearing white uniforms stood watch as the vehicles were emptied. Dozens of men and women in suits exited the vehicles and formed up around two figures exiting the center hovercar. "Right on time." Said one of the figures, a male in his late fifties. The formation moved towards the entrance in a calm fashion. Two guardsmen quietly opened up the doors while half of the bodyguards formed a wall overlooking the parked vehicles. As the figures and their entourage approached the checkpoint the secuirty personnel opened up a special door allowing immeadiate access. "Good to see you, High Councilor." The High Councilor nodded in response as he moved on accross a large hall. Two men in suits waited on the other side of the checkpoint and approached the High Councilor, shaking hands with him. "Talwin, Keith, good to see you." Said the High Councilor. Talwin nodded. "Likewise Quint, for a High Councilor you don't look too stressed." All of them chuckled before slowly moving on. "What's the latest info Keith?" "The UGC is, as it has been for some time now after that mysterious attack, still a mess. So far twelve more members left and broke all ties this week, restricting trade to eachother as they were all neighbouring systems." "Effect?" "No major effect on Sol, the members were governments on the opposite side of the galaxy." The group passed another checkpoint, the other half of the High Councilors bodyguards stopped and formed a secondary wall. "Alright then, Tal, how are the rest of the councilors?" "Riled up, there's alot of feelings regarding the UGC. Talk about leaving it have resurfaced." "I see." Quint got a concerned look on his face. "Seems like we have alot on the agenda today." Four guardsmen on the other side of the checkpoint formed up around the Councilor. "Any other news?" "We've heard whispers of the kanads mobilizing. Intelligence confirmed it earlier this morning, it's not promising." "Damage restriction?" "Outer human colonies. No predicted effect on Sol aside from hardening trade." "Well then, how goes the other current operation?" "No more news from SSOID yet, target Z is still not secured." Finally the group reached the pair of doors leading into the main chamber. "Let's get to it then, shall we?" As soon as they opened the doors chaos ensued. All 71 councilors were arguing loudly accross the chamber from their seats. When Quint entered the room almost all eyes were fixed on him and the room became completely quiet. Quint walked up to a podium at the far side of the room and sat down behind a large desk which had one large chair behind it. Talwin, Keith and Quint's quiet assistant, a small man named Carl, placed themselves at a row of guest seats next to the podium while the guardsmen formed up around the desk. "Councilors, I, High Councilor Quint Wayford, declares the session active. All questions will be handled, as per protocol, through the electronic system. Todays agenda includes discussion regarding our membership with the United Galactic Community. Please be seated."
Viper leaped up from ground after had building collapsed ahead of the rest of the squad, taking an moment to readjust itself to the planet gravity after being knocked back from the energy blast from the beginning of this encounter. The the injuries that Viper substantiated earlier on the surface only serve as an fairly large hindrance to it's ability but nevertheless pushes on in service towards it's comrades. However, Viper stopped dead tacks for an spit second when it saw Dwan rise back up from ground. Through Viper was relieved to see that Dwan had shaken off the Crimus agent's grip on his mind through these short of things do have there side effects on the physic but Dwan was proven himself quite...Peculiar to any soft-carbon Viper have ever encountered. Viper resumed it's walk towards Lion, taking it's time to look over it's various squad mates for any visible injures. Keeping it's eyes in search of any kind of trauma they might be experiencing, physical or physiologic as the team pushed up towards the ruins of the Crimus city into street. It's sight was particular fixated on Iska when she shot off an rather aggravated looked towards something a quite a distance off from the rest of the squad's view. "Company?" Viper asked as it keened behind Iska in stern, low voice with weapons raised towards the direction of whatever stood infront of Iska and the rest of the squad.
Iska looked back at Viper with the same annoyed face. She bobed her head in Saws direction. "Warlord has come" she said in a monotone voice while fishing out a cigarette. Iska continued, "Maybe now captain can get answers" she said while lighting the cigarette.
