Pippin stepped back and opened fire
Varn tried to dodge out of the way of Zane's attack and open fire on his hoverboard so he would be planted on the ground.
Mini Roll Critical Success[10] Varn immediately dodged the wave of acid coming out of the two weapons from afar. Ject saw as he widened his eyes. "Gatling acid guns!? Fuck that." Ject suppressed while Varn targeted the hoverboard. He fired with perfect accuracy but one of Zane's shield completely deflected it. Zane remained unaffected.
"Weapons free!" Yelled Lion as his weapon started spitting out a hailstorm of bullets.
Mini Roll[3]: Lion pulled the trigger out of his Last Stand. Zane glided through the space he had and dodged them. Several salvos landed but his shields deflected them, absorbing them. Zane remained unaffected. Zane's shields charged up and bought the bullets back at Lion, landing several hits.
Dwan fired his Texas Ranger at Zane, strafing to avoid being hit.
Mini Roll[4]: Dwan bought his Texas Ranger and aimed for the head, firing but no avail as Zane's shields deflected it once again. Zane remained unaffected. He absorbed the shot and bought it back at Dwan.
Pippin stepped back and opened fire
Mini Roll[6]: Pippin used whatever he could find and tried to find an opening out in the field. He kept his distance and tried to suppress fire. He shot back but Zane dodged. Zane remained unaffected. Zane shook his head as he was firing back. "Time for the good stuff." Zane's hoverboard slowly emitted a glowing violet, spinning to its heart content. Charging. SYNERGY WAVE CHARGING: 3
Lion shook his head after momentarily crouching when he realized that his salvo was getting deflected back at him. It had worked partially as he was still in combat ready status however he had taken a lot of hits on his armor plates, roughing them down a bit. "Shit." He looked over his left shoulder pauldron as his eyes turned red. With robotic precision he swung up his gun and started pinning it up again, this time he aimed entirely on Zanes hoverboard. "Target that hoverboard!"
Dwan stepped back from being hit with his own bullets. He watched as everyone else shot their guns, only to have their ammo shot back at them. They couldn't fight this bastard kinetically. He decided to fall back to his usual. He switched his howitzer to flamethrower mode and fired at Zane whilst strafing.
Varn started muttering every swear word he could think of in every language he knew. He decided to give the rest of the team an opening. He aimed and shot at Zane, while hurling taunts. "Hey shitbird! Remember me? Yeah, the one who made you bleed. Didn't like that, did you? Now's your chance for payback. My eye is busted and my leg is gone so you may actually stand a chance."

The salvo however was still deflected by one of Zane's shields. Zane remained unaffected.
Dwan stepped back from being hit with his own bullets. Only a second later as the flames around were soaked up from a vacuum. Once the flames disappeared Zane appeared, remaining unaffected. His shields welded together, glowing a bright yellow as flames were shot back across the scenery. Zane fired his guns simultaneously.
Varn started muttering every swear word he could think of in every language he knew. He decided to give the rest of the team an opening. Zane was unbeknownst to this certain action as he was busy unleashing acid across the field. Swinging acid, a small sized spit that went astray. The acid landed on Varn's face, sizzling to slowly invade his face. His skin oozed of dead flesh, green auras rising through the air. Zane remained unaffected. "[What... what's the damage look like..?]" Yanim droned, having nearly blacked out from the intensity of the maneuver combined with the low air pressure. "[It made a dent, boss,]" Rask said in a monotone, doubled over while holding onto the doorframe into the cargo area. "[We need some time... before we do that... again.]" Slowly the air thickened and the crew regained its senses. Virin poked his head into the main tunnel once the pressures had equalized between the bridge and the rest of the craft. "Everyone alright back there?" He asked. "What's the situation?" "We're fine," Rask replied, grumpily. "Only one sled left... Keh, funny thing- we've got plenty of bomb left on this rig. We bought too much of the ordinance; pretty soon we'll be dropping them unguided." "Shnka..." Virin shook his head. "Get back on the guns, Virin," Yanim grumbled. "I need you to keep them off our tail for a while longer. We've only got one crack at this left and I've got a hell of an idea." Rask accompanied Yanim into the engineering room of the ship, where she furiously tore through the storage sections looking for the right pieces to build a device known as an explosively pumped flux compression generator. It was a device which used high explosives to trigger an electromagnetic pulse. While Yanim cut, welded, soldered and installed the various components needed to create the generator, Rask carefully packaged and wired the high explosives which would be used to detonate it. With Yanim's implant and tail, assembling the device with mechanical precision could be done very easily. It came together in minutes, during which the two kanads worked in silence aside from the occasional simple order from Yanim to direct how or when Rask needed to act. When it was ready, they both leaned back, amazed at their own efficiency. "Right..." Rask said. "So what's it for?" It's an EMP," Yanim replied. "I know, we have about a dozen of 'em already, those ones we bought from Terra-" "Not like this one," Yanim said. "Have you ever opened an EMP rocket before? They have a compressor inside, but it's the size of a flashlight. They punch a tiny hole in the enemy shield and then the bomb blasts a hole in anything behind it. You don't want a big cloud of interference that can mess with you or anything else you're not aiming at. But this-" she said, rocking the heavy tube back and forth with her hand, "this is going to turn some heads." Rask blinked, unsure of what boss was getting at. "If we put that on a sled, there's going to be almost no room for a bomb to follow it up." "We don't need one," Yanim replied. "We're not aiming for the mech, we're going to try to hit the fighters instead. They won't be shielded for a pulse like this; once we hit them they're going to have to reboot their primary flight computers. And that's when we'll get them." "...How?" "I studied the security features built into Crimson Son cybernetics when I worked on the Archius. I cracked their biometrics systems when I picked up that rocket launcher I brought back earlier. They're not so tough. Once those ships reboot they're going to be looking for navigation and targeting information from mother base, or whatever ship they launched from, just like any other squadron ship; it doesn't matter. When they start listening, we're going to be broadcasting from the Belladonna's antenna." "Broadcasting what?" "The Virus." Yanim smiled her rotten smile, reminding Rask of his old comrade, Damya. He wasn't sure what she was talking about, but there was no doubting the malice behind it. Yanim explained, "the one I wrote for this ship, remember? Neasha made me disarm it, but I didn't delete it... Had she ever tried to fly away without us, I could have taken direct control, and brought the Belladonna back." "So... once this virus goes out, what happens next?" "Friendly fire," Yanim replied. "Hye, hye, hye." --- The sled was equipped with the massive EMP as the Belladonna raced back toward the mech. The virus code was loaded into the communications array, with Virin eyeing the broadcast console in the bridge. Neasha jittered, watching the gauges and eagerly awaiting the order to bug out, even as they closed distance on the cloud of fighters which were helping to protect the mech. Lock-on warnings sounded. Rask took off running. Yanim assumed control of the missile. It fell from the ship. ((Just to be clear, I am rolling to detonate an EMP device on a large number of enemy fighters as well as to take control of them using a malicious code once they reboot their computers. You might want to handle that as two different rolls. Or not. Up to you, Doom.))
"Damnit!" Lion continued firing at the hoverboard while slowly moving to the right.
Varn ignored the pain as much as he could and went behind cover. The acid was evaporating, but it already left a mark on his face. He took out an EMP grenade and tossed it at Zane's direction.
"HEY!" Pippin shouted. "This obviously isn't working"
Dwan quickly moved out of Zane's way, as the latter turned to attack Varn. He stepped back a bit and considered his options. The shields were deflecting everything they were firing at it, from salvos to fire. Nothing was working. At this point, he was hoping that whatever Zane was charging up was just an EMP, as he could still use some functionalities from his Blazing Howitzer, as well as his Obrez. Knowing it was pointless to attack, he decided to use the caldic coin he had placed in his armor to check on the mechs through his HUD.
"Screw it!" Pippin yelled. He wasn't excited to find out what the board was charging up to, so he charged forward towards Zane, pulling out his knife.

Lion continued firing at the hoverboard while slowly moving to the right.
Mini Roll[2]: Kinetic, repeating the same tactic. Was no use as the Last Stand's salvo's were quickly absorbed into Zane's shields, aiming and firing back. Creating pressure on his outer armor, actually piercing it through. Zane remained unaffected. Wait. The HUD wasn't responding. Something was interfering. Before he could find out what was happening Zane glided over him and released a bucket load of acid on Dwan, corroding his armor. Zane remained unaffected
"Screw it!" Pippin yelled. He wasn't excited to find out what the board was charging up to, so he charged forward towards Zane, pulling out his knife.
Mini Roll[2]: Pippin immediately pulled out the knife as Zane turned. Zane sighed as Pippin went forward, walking up to him to knock the knife out of his hands and pulled him up to a higher attitude. Zane almost pitied him. "Get lost kid." Zane held Pippin and glided over to a distance far from the field, he warned him as he placed him down, returning to the fight. Next time would probably be a worse fate. Zane remained unaffected SYNERGY WAVE CHARGING: 1 ... Ject, Bruta and Elli were reloading ammo into their weapons but decided not to fire. "This is useless, this guy is throwing everything back at us like a mirror." Ject said. Bruta went into cover noticing the shields were obviously a big problem, not to mention the Synergy shield encasing Zane and his armor. "That's three layers of protection, our weapons aren't working. What exactly will?" Bruta asked. "We're going to have to think outside the box for this." Elli muttered as the battle continued.
Lion was almost knocked over when his second salvo returned back at him. "Fucking shields..." He eyeballed the ceiling right before tossing a sticky grenade, hoping to bring down the ceiling right ontop of Zane.
"Shit!" Pippin got up and grabbed his knife. "I thought that would work."
Varn splashed water from his canteen onto his face in hopes of getting rid of the acid as the EMP grenade blew up without affecting anything on the field. He was becoming more frustrated with each shot bouncing off. He looked at Bruta's team, and yelled at them as he fired towards Zane "Any ideas?"
Dwan attempted his damn best to check on his mechs, but something wasn't right. Somehow, his caldiur was getting interfered with. As he pondered how that could work, Zane dumped a whole lot of acid onto him. Dwan moved back as soon as Zane turned his attention to Pippin. He got behind Bruta's team, as he watched the outer layer of the armor's layered armor construction corrode away. Dwan muttered a few swears in Enochian under his breath. He then attempted to figure out what the issue was in regards of the interference. As he did that, he put his hand over Andrast's handle, as he prepared for whatever the synergy wave was.
(what's the room we're in like)
...all according to plan.
The ship pulled away as Neasha opened the throttle completely. Rask closed the cargo door to protect the crew from the effect of the pulse as Yanim guided the projectile into the swarm of fighters. The ship shuddered, the shields protecting them from the small rockets launched against them- which were insufficient to cripple the Belladonna anyway. Once enough distance had been gained, Yanim triggered the device. The explosion was deceptively small. The Crimson Son's pilots might have believed they had destroyed the missile themselves, if they even noticed its destruction in the midst of the chaos of battle all around them. There was a shimmering white light which followed the blast- like ball lightning. It expanded, growing larger and larger, vanishing into the air itself. Yet, as the fighters became caught in the pulse, bolts of electricity erupted from their shield arrays, communications disappeared, controls and consoles went dead. Instantly, every pilot knew what had been employed against them. While frightening at first glance, the impact of an indiscriminate EM pulse was something all elite pilots were trained to react to. They discharged their crafts using emergency systems, remaining calm even as their ships lost altitude. Weightless in their seats, they calmly rebooted their primary flight computers, and in seconds, the machines began to respond again. Except... From the bridge of the Belladonna, the splash of the EMP was nothing more than a warning light from the shield array. Likewise, the mech far below saw no indication of any trouble. Only the fighters, with their weak shield arrays and lack of heavy insulation, would be vulnerable. As soon as Virin had indication that they were, he activated the communications array and broadcasted the virus to them. Yanim's implant connected to the Belladonna's computer and searched for responses to the signal. After a few, tense seconds, a response came from a single fighter. A moment later, another. Then several, until dozens of separate responses came in. Some were from friendly fighters; Yanim released them immediately... there were more than enough Crimson fighter craft stuck in the web. Conceptualizing the battlefield using radar imaging, she could see them as specs of light, fluttering in proximity to the big target on the ground. With a grin, she tested her control, and... The pilots had no idea what was happening. The computers rebooted successfully, the consoles had become illuminated again, and the crafts weren't falling anymore. But no matter what they did, no matter how much they pulled on their control sticks, the fighters flew straight forward, unresponsive. Suddenly, they rolled over on their own as if on autopilot, slicing through the air in a turn so sharp that several pilots lost consciousness. They would be the lucky ones, as the others came to view the Daedalus in the center of their windscreens as their rogue ships accelerated menacingly. Yanim could hear their voices over the compromised radio systems. They were panicking. Some reached for the ejector seat controls, knowing full well that their velocity would mean a fatal ejection. It didn't matter; Yanim had disabled them- the fighters were no more than flying coffins. She wouldn't play with them for long- she couldn't allow them time to find a way to escape their predicament. Besides, allied fighters were beginning to fire at the now helpless Crimson Son crafts. It would be a single onslaught attack- all the weapons onboard all the captive fighters were armed as they closed on the mech below, each ship a kamikaze weapon to be hurled at the beast.
[If Zane keeps this up the Crimus won't have to fight us as we'd be dead due to old age.]
Lion was almost knocked over when his second salvo returned back at him. "Fucking shields..." He eyeballed the ceiling right before tossing a sticky grenade, hoping to bring down the ceiling right ontop of Zane.
Mini Roll[4]: Lion observed the ceiling, out of options he shot above. Regarding their armed weapons they fired until they got close to the outer hull. Once that happened they collided against the mech with a dozen explosions. The Daedalus was left stunned as allied firepower took the turn. ... SYNERGY WAVE CHARGED: 0 Zane felt the synergy arrived so quick, he tightened his hand and holstered one of the guns on his back. The tendrils grew around him as the battle would guarantee a disaster. Zane slowly raised his hand at the person who fired at the ceiling, Lion specifically. "You should have stayed away, now you're attacking this place." Zane muttered. The wave activated, leaving everyone who was weak groan on the ground, their muscles aching from the devastating pain. Zane aimed with his hand towards Lion. "Bang." Lion's lower body immediately shattered into pieces, arms exploding out of his arm sockets. Lion was planted down, limbless as the violet explosion gave him the biggest damage across the room. Others who weren't strong enough gave in to the pain and collapsed.
[I need to learn when to shut the hell up.] "DAMAGE CRITICAL!" Exclaimed Lion as his eyes flickered red. His nanobot pods kicked in but it would take some time before the damage done to his body was repaired, even longer untill his limbs would be active as they were curretly shattered all over the floor. "Y-y-you fool." Stammered Lion. "What does your leader promise you? What could possibly justify the loss of countless of lives?" His head twitched.
Varn fell on the cold floor holding his chest in pain. He could barely breathe as he could feel his insides like they were on fire. The pain started to slowly fade away as his body started to go overboard with whatever chemical that caused him to slip into anger. The sedative from, injected by Mercury, was still in effect as he could still think semi-clearly. Varn began to slowly move and get up. By the time he was on his knees, he was determent to put Zane in the ground.
Dwan was strong enough to withstand the wave. But it caused him to step back a bit, whilst also causing a few spasms in his left arm. He stepped back far enough to still see what was going on. He attempted again to contact his mechs. His right hand was still over Andrast's handle, in case Zane turned to attack him. However, what he needed to do now was to get Lion out of there. He began brainstorming some ideas as he tried to contact the mechs.
Iska had been suddenly woken from her coma when she began feeling pain throughout her body. With kherigan regeneration genes and her physical strength, she Rose from the ground with her muscles only slightly aching and looked around to see what had happened while she was out. Iska noticed everyone lying on the ground, Varn was getting up, Lion was basically a blow halfway to hell and Dwan was behind a pillar. Iska locked eyes with Zane and began slowly walking towards him. She walked past Lion and stopped at a fair distance from Zane. "Your soldier say they fight with honor, can you fight aswell?" Iska said with a slim smirk. She put her fists up and widened her stance "You and Iska fight with honor now" she said, beckoning him to come to her.
"What does your leader promise you? What could possibly justify the loss of countless of lives?" Zane immediately lowered his weapons and was almost insulted. "Justify? No, far from justified. The biggest crime and malice people will think of. The moment I will have to think about what we've just planned for the rest of my life. All in the name of survival. Desperation, it is a drive. One that must be necessary. A cruel one at that." Zane clenched his hand, looking down. "If you were in my place, you would have thought the same." Zane stated. Zane stared straight at her and shook his head. "I respectfully decline. I ask you to look outside and see what has it come down to. People to their basic instinct, shooting people while they're down, torture, no quarter perhaps? Have you done the same thing?" He gave her a question as Dwan has continued to contact his mechs but something was still disrupting the process. "In the end, we're just soldiers who are following orders. Sheep, maybe. Regardless if we survive there is always a price to pay for." Zane stated as he glided from the distance observing all of them. "Take arms now. Fight for your goal and we will see who is left." He remarked. ... The three have succumbed to the wave as they struggled to get up. Ject slowly tried but to no avail. As soon as he knew what needed to be done he uttered a few words to the crew. "The ceiling... Bring it down." He said weakly remembering Lion attempting to shoot it
Dwan couldn't understand it. For some reason, he couldn't contact his mechs. As he was contacting them through his caldic coins, there shouldn't be any issues. There were only two answers Dwan could think of; either there was another caldic user within the ranks of the Crimus or someone figured out the temporal frequency of his caldiur. The former would mean that said theoretical caldiur user had achieved a way to negate foreign caldiur via technology, and even then, it must be heavily modified tech. The latter should be nearly impossible, considering the fact that the laws of this universe do not allow for caldiur. Maybe there was a simpler answer, but he had to figure it out. As he listened to Zane speak to Lion and Iska, he heard Ject's words. He looked at the ceiling before looking at those under it. He began switching his howitzer to mortar mode. He saw Varn near him. He motioned him over. "Distract the floating bastard, and get Lion and Iska out of there. I'm gonna bring the house down.", he told him quietly.
Varn nodded. Zane was too busy flexing his lungs and didn't notice him and the other mercenaries slowly getting up. This was as good as an opening as ever. "Mercury, I'll start distracting the shitbird, grab someone and get Lion to safety, I don't know if I can move Iska out of her place. The rest of you, as soon as Dwan shoots the ceiling, you open fire on it. Bring it all down on him." Varn got up from behind his cover, he walked slowly, mockingly clapping to Zane's speach. "Very good! Amazing! That was the best rendition of we are soldiers I have ever heard!" He stopped. "Do you happen to be a friend of Krack the spine-ripper? He had a similar speech on Vorlon V before the SDF bombarded his base for war crimes."
"Your ignorance is just as great as your Captain's." Zane said as he was ready to fight. He unleashed another acid bath to Iska. Once more his hoverboard spinned. SYNERGY WAVE CHARGING: 4
"Ah shit. Get back!" Varn yelled as he pushed Iska out of the way of the acid.
