Woah that's mad cool. I always hate when I do something epic and then have no proof it ever happened.
Looks like Source Machinima's about to get easier.
Oh my god, I was waiting for this day. I also really hope they fix some other bugs e.g. if something is occuring (Medic beam is a great example) before you record the demo, the beam doesn't appear. But if the player starts healing afterwards, it does appear. Great to have that fixed.
Sounds great, but where is the fix for the drop system, or well It's complete removal.

I have a new job. Demo reviewer for servers. I go through each demo that a player or players had high scores and: 1. see his strategy 2. if he hacked/aimbotted/clearly new that engy was behind a wall
Just like GTA IV, where you can save a clip of the last 30 seconds. Much better than having to record beforehand, you never know when you're going to play Sniper and borrow a rocket jump over a Heavy and noscope headshot him in mid air then land on a Scout and beat him to death with your Kukri.
Kick Ass!
what does demo mean? is it like a video or something, because if it is i say w00t. brace for dumb ratings

Awesome, I expect more awesome shit will be recorded now since the following ALWAYS happens: 1. You don't know how to record shit 2. You don't have a recording program 3. You do know how to record, but you missed the cool shit 4. Whenever you record, you always just get an hour of boring play
So is this like Halo 3 style or GTA 4 style?
thank GOD ididnt delete all of my old broken .dem files
So is this like Halo 3 style or GTA 4 style?
It's a new style. Also, I hope they'll fix some of the broken features in the demoui and the smoother.

Finally I can save all those moments when I get incredible killstreaks instead of trying to predict them or something.

Sounds like a good idea. Especially for the Facepunch UK server. Lots of good times in there.
Reminds me a lot of the GTA IV recorder, good job Valve.
So is this like Halo 3 style or GTA 4 style?
It's like being given a SourceTV demo except with a UI that actually explains itself.
Demo files are fucking annoying to convert.
It's like being given a SourceTV demo except with a UI that actually explains itself.
They didn't mention anything about a new UI.. but that would be really nice.
They're not fixing your old ones you plonk
hey they never said they wouldn't
I demand a blog toast.
What does 'scrubbing' mean?
what does demo mean? is it like a video or something, because if it is i say w00t. brace for dumb ratings
A demo file is the recording of in game activities. As opposed to recording a movie directly, a demo file contains all in game data, can be played back at any time, and allows you to check on the activities of other players, not just yourself. [editline]03:51PM[/editline]
What does 'scrubbing' mean?
I assume it means time control, like fast forward and rewind, within the demo itself. This is a little shaky at the moment and doesn't work like you'd want it to.
Awesome! It always bugged me that the demo was just what I saw and not everything. It's going to be fun flying around the entire match watching what everyone was doing.
Thank you Valve, a way for me to easily show my awesome power. :D
Goddamn I love Valve.
Hooray! I hope I can still tell it to "record" so it will automatically send me the files while I'm "recording"
