I'm a bit disappointed that it's untradable. Don't get me wrong, it's a cool hat, and I love KritzKast (though maybe not quite how they handled this situation) it's just that besides the Scout, I've got a hat for every class now and I really like using those instead of an all-class hat.
Steam login what a shame.
Steam login what a shame.
:what:
I was in the KK group since episode 5 or so, left a few months ago when I cleaned my groups, now I rejoined and it tells me I can't get the hat. Welp...
Well i think i did the same on my main account(joined the kk group for a while) I'm unsure though i obviously did not get the quiz  [editline]13th June 2011[/editline] 1556 people got the hat :suicide:
"Something big this way comes" It's a fucking hat.
"Something big this way comes" It's a fucking hat.
Theres a tower on it!!!!
"Something big this way comes" It's a fucking hat.
It was aimed at Kritzkast listeners, not the entire TF2 community. Don't you think that your community/podast/whatever being featured in a game is rather big?
Well, I started to listen then I fell asleep :D
It was aimed at Kritzkast listeners, not the entire TF2 community. Don't you think that your community/podast/whatever being featured in a game is rather big?
It's a hat.
It's a hat.
you telling me that if valve add a Dr Bob hat you wouldn't be excited? although if it was for oddworld i would pee myself in joy
you telling me that if valve add a Dr Bob hat you wouldn't be excited? although if it was for oddworld i would pee myself in joy
If I was running some podcast, I certainly wouldn't make a general announcement of "something big this way comes" in reference to a HAT.
If I was running some podcast, I certainly wouldn't make a general announcement of "something big this way comes" in reference to a HAT.
its big for the kk community, all because its not relevant to you doesnt mean others arent excited for it. Also the only place the event was announced on was on the kk forums and the podkast...
I don't know if this interests anyone here at all, here's a list of who got what hat. http://jimbomcb.net/kritzkast/list/
242? I like it! Nice and symmetrical.
Lo-Fi Longwave 745 :D
I fail to see how thats possible, they've mentioned the group on the actual podcast a few times. (if I remember correctly)
You really think it's IMPOSSIBLE that someone could have been listening for a long time and did not join the steam group? You really think there are insurmountable odds against that?
You really think it's IMPOSSIBLE that someone could have been listening for a long time and did not join the steam group? You really think there are insurmountable odds against that?
Well no, but it'd be damn foolish of them.
Recently, I checked on my Longwave hat and it is Tradable now. (That, and tf2 backpack is fucked up for me at the moment, sometimes the name disspears, and just the word "Vintage" is there with just giant ammount of space. And sometimes becomes tradable, sometimes won't) I'll see if I can get a picture of it.
Well no, but it'd be damn foolish of them.
Foolish? Foolish that they didn't join one of those superfluous "social network" things that are supposed to function as cliffnotes to your personality, but in practice few take seriously and fewer pay attention to? My Steam profile isn't in the TF2 group, even though I like Team Fortress 2 a lot. Am I foolish?
You really think it's IMPOSSIBLE that someone could have been listening for a long time and did not join the steam group? You really think there are insurmountable odds against that?
It's far more likely that someone join the group and leave the group at a later time because of annoyance from frequent announcements to get into the server than it is that someone never join the group at all.
Just got mine :v:
So I put all the anserws correct and told me I had to try again tomorrow.

Am I foolish?
Yeah, it'd be foolish to not join something that automatically tells you when the latest KritzKast episode is being recorded live. Same goes for joining the TF2 group, which automatically tells you when the blog updates. There's no reason to not be in those groups if you care about what the groups center around. It's not a matter of telling people what you like, it's a matter of what you like telling you about itself.

I know when TF2 updates within seconds, because I always check what's going on when the ever-present Steam client icon gains the "downloading" dots. I also know when the blog updates within roughly a minute, because in addition to every member of this board and SPUF racing each other to get "dibs" on a thread about it I check the damn thing myself whenever the game says that it's downloading something. All of the features those groups supposedly give me are useless because I like what they're associated with so much. They are actually less than useless to me most of the time, because they just wind up clogging my profile with info that I've been informed of about three times already. And if I was a diehard fan of Kritzcast, the same would be even more true because they run on a set schedule.
Yay i finally got that hat. I feel so happy. [editline]13th June 2011[/editline] It seems i got the Vintage version too.
In Episode #78 what does wingspanTT describe as the only source of water in the wild west? A)grand canyon B)puddle C)rain shower D)tap This thread said grand canyon but my listening is shit xD
If they become tradeable I can get one then :v:
I wonder how people would overprice those like hell.
See post, scroll past content, realise you've left the Firefox dictionary on French, rate dumb, leave http://crits.org/?p=1157
Of hats and hate Rynex, 13/07/2011 In regards to TF2, I feel like I learned a lot this weekend. The most important thing I learned is that podcasts are a real bad idea unless you have some real content to work with. Kritzkast have done 121 episodes, which (I estimate) span for 60-90 minutes. I could only endure 20 minutes before I decided that I had better things to do. Let me sum up what I heard in the podcast: Stupid internet jokes/memes and a general commentary of the week… basically shit that didn’t need discussing. Now, you might be thinking… hmm, you only listened to find out about this new hat, right? Actually, no. I purely wanted to see what the big announcement was. I was expecting that they had some special news from Valve that would give people an idea of what was happening in TF2, but I figured out early on that the idiots would just be giving away the hat to the “dedicated followers of Kritzkast”. When you gloss something up, and people guess what it is, you play the hot/cold game with them. You have to indicate whether or not it is or isn’t something. You could have easily told the people, that the surprise wasn’t Meet the Medic and saved yourselves and others lot of frustration. The fact that you stepped around it just encouraged them to disapprove you all the more and for that reason you may as well have turned the real surprise into a shiny golden piece of crap. Despite what Kritzkast has done, they are trying really hard to actually produce something of worth. Eventually they will get it right and just maybe Kritzkast will be funny and worth listening to. These things take lots of time, but when you cater to such a small audience who are happy with your content, then why change. The fact that they promised something “big”, is really only applicable to its audience… and I’m fine with that. Valve are essentially delivering to the smaller crowds of the community and giving them what they want. You know you’ve really made it when you have produced something that has your logo on it. This blog would become popular overnight if I asked Valve to give crits.org community members a pin. That would be a big thing for our community. The real problem is the TF2 community, and it’s greed for this kind of crap. We’re focusing on the general populace of TF2 here, or as I like to call them, the fucking idiots who make up the steam community. I have often joked about how terrible Xbox Live’s community is, and how belligerent and vindictive they can be. I have slowly begun to see a similar trend happening with the Steam crowd as well. I’ve never really paid attention until the last year because I had more fun trolling them as they were easy fodder and I was going through a tough time with living in America. Now though, I have nothing but shame for them. It is embarrassing to see the reactions of people over shit that doesn’t really matter. When people argue over hats, how they ruin the game and all the stupid crap associated with it, It makes me wish that tulipmania would go into full effect and crash the TF2 economy over hats. Imagine a scenario where suddenly no one wants to sell/ buy hats and people are “finished caring” about them. Everyone ends up agreeing that TF2 is better off without this kind of thing and Valve stops putting them in the game, in favour of more interesting weapons (which go on to destroy the competitive scene’s balance, teehee!) I have stopped caring about the whole buzz about hats, and play for fun. I used to care, during the days when you had to idle to get them, but I like to get hats where I can through patience. Think about it like this: Since I don’t see them 99% of the time in my life, I feel like they shouldn’t need to spend money on them. Really, you never see them out of game, and you see them maybe a few seconds when you taunt or die. The only people who really benefit from you wearing a hat in TF2, is other people. I’ve never thought that hats were distinctly worth purchasing, accept for the googily eyes or the teddy that the engi gets. Anyway, here’s the question everyone should be asking themselves. Why should I spend $10 of money to buy a virtual hat in a game? Before you start calling me a peasant, please hear me out. People got hold of hats in TF2 to stand out. Now, everyone has a hat! We saw this coming, but Valve already had a plan to make hats look different. They gave them colors and to the lucky few who are willing to spend more money, they glow and do all kinds of crazy particle effect bullshit. Soon it’s only a matter of time before weapons start being able to be colored differently… but the only way they will be distributed is through crates as well. If TF2 was to become something like this, it would practically become a scam. Valve would be pulling the strings on the wallets of those who buy into the whole scenario. Sure, you don’t have to participate, but the allure of the whole thing is simply too much for some. This is why I have steered well clear of the whole Mann Co store, and any in game cash-shop in any game. Also, please note that Valve has never once put a useful item in the game that cannot be obtained eventually though some patience. They are infact quite charitable in their own right as they give you an item every few hours, but I guess this balances out. This is why I choose not to spend a dime on the Mann Co store, and for that reason alone, I am saving money. What you do with your money is your choice at the end of the day, I’m not trying to convince you otherwise, but I am trying to tell you that spending money on hats in a virtual game is fucking stupid. You can use that money on better things, like trips to other countries and games… or hell, give games to Brindster so you can fund the server (I think that was the original purpose of the cash-shop anyway… you know, to get rid of the scrubbers who demand money to keep their server/community alive?) Back to my original bitch, the whole thing with Kritzkast getting it’s own hat is not in any way big. The hat looks fucking stupid to be honest, but it’s cool that Valve was so willing to give them it. Still, I don’t see any reason for it to exist other than to make Kritzkast feel good after 121 episodes. I guess you guys really deserve it for persistance, rather than for quality though.
They did say that this was for loyal listeners. But i guess Kritzkast did a bad idea. Oh well...
I have #1556. I totally forgot I joined the Kritzkast group ages ago - I've never listened to it but oh well.
Goddamnit I failed again. :smith:
