You should go check if you can read or you're blind. I never said people will have to provide .7z files. But in case a dumbass does, the program will be able to open it.
Chill, man. Not hard to misread.
What, because I'm warning you that limiting things isn't an intelligent thing to do?
This is brilliant all of you work here is brilliant, seriously this stuff is probably a million times more complex then anything I could do. So nice work so far TerabyteS you deserve it. But the client only designed to work with the TF2 Emporium Website is quite a dumb thing to do.
There would be really no other way. In fact, on the website, when an user will upload a new mod will also have to specify the folder it will belong to, or the installer could fail in placing it correctly. I feel that we're trying to reduce limits the most.
I know I might seem like a bit of a douche, and I'm very sorry. The site looks good, it's just been uphill struggle trying to get some solid facts because you guys have been busy working on the site and client.
What language are you doing this in cause I remember when i knew a little C# it wasnt hard at all parsing things from web pages
Limiting what?
The amount of sites the installer will work for. [editline]04:21PM[/editline]
There would be really no other way. In fact, on the website, when an user will upload a new mod will also have to specify the folder it will belong to, or the installer could fail in placing it correctly.
I thought the install directory would be chosen by the user?
What language are you doing this in cause I remember when i knew a little C# it wasnt hard at all parsing things from web pages
Python. And that's not the problem, it can be done the same with python. The problem, as I said in the before posts, is that dumb people provide skins in a zipped file that contains the mod files only, with no folder structure whatsoever. This would be fine, but there would be no way for the program to know if this would be the case. In the TF2 emporium, the uploader will be obliged to provide a mod packed in a decent way. All mods, in fact, will be downloaded and checked before being shown on the site. [editline]03:24PM[/editline]
I thought the install directory would be chosen by the user?
I meant where to place it inside the game's folder structure. What would be the point for the user to decide that. You can't place a model in the materials folder. It would just be an anoyance.
oh i see i didnt quite understand the concept behind it then my bad!!!
oh i see i didnt quite understand the concept behind it then my bad!!!
Don't worry.

Whereas the client may want to put it in: "F:/steam 'n' shit/steam/steamapps/username/Team Fortress 2/tf".
That's part of the account setup, not mod install.
Which I have now realised. Hence the apology at the start of my post. :keke:
It'd be good if it used ZIPs instead of 7zips (anyone can make them) and if it wasn't site specific.
If other websites are willing to follow our packaging structure and guidelines, they're free to use it - there's no actual lock in place - but we're not going out of our way to support them.
Damn my avatar looks so dumb
Mine is the very embodiment of dumb... But in a cool way. :smug:
Yeah but mine is actually bad. Wait.
This is better. (that one was my friend's account, I'm the artistic idle map guy)
So the installer is going to be optional right?
Yes it is but it is gonna have a big button, while manual download will have a tiny one.
Yeah but mine is actually bad. Wait.
Now it's pimpin': (You'll have to convert to apng though if you actually want it.)
Damn, I have no idea how to do that.
Damn, I have no idea how to do that.
Neither do I. :ohdear:
Oh well.. thanks anyway :buddy:
Oh well.. thanks anyway :buddy:
Save it for when you get goldmember... in 2 years and 1100 posts. :frown:
Isn't it only if you don't get banned once? Cause I have the tendency to get banned very often.
Look at my ban history. On second thoughts don't, because I was a complete retard when I first joined.
