Actually, with new game modes, we're pretty much guaranteed some new maps that accommodate them. Even if they're revamped versions of what we already have (like the many variants of badlands and well), it's still a new map.

Scrapping ideas down the road is one thing, but doing something with no motive to even make it official is pretty dumb.
