Well you guys are trying to convince me that the artstyle is perfectly alright and that the gameplay isn't a chaotic unplayable mess, I am trying to convince you the opposite.
Yes, yes I do.
No not really, but I do think you guys are being terribly stubborn.
says the guy who's tried for several months to convince us the games art-style has gone to shit. Also what ever happened to the old gameplay over graphics arguement that people love
Hasn't gotten to GG2, though :v:
BUT IT NEEDS HATS! :gonk:
says the guy who's tried for several months to convince us the games art-style has gone to shit. Also what ever happened to the old gameplay over graphics arguement that people love
Both the gameplay and artstyle sucks.
The graphics are alright, but the gameplay sucks and this theme of the game is ruined so no matter how good the graphics are it still looks like shit.
Well you guys are trying to convince me that the artstyle is perfectly alright and that the gameplay isn't a chaotic unplayable mess, I am trying to convince you the opposite.
That's not what I'm trying to do, I fully admit they artstyle is messed up althought I don't fully agree on the gameplay part.
I think TF2 is still fun. I don't let hats ruin the game for me. I don't even hate most unusuals.
Though there are four items that kind of make me cringe.
Gibus
Hot Pink paint
Lime Green paint
Dapper
But they don't exactly ruin the game for me.
Yes, yes I do.

Stop shitting this thread up.

The artstyle is not like it used to be. So? I play it for the game, for the fun of playing a game with friends. If you played it for the artstyle I guess you could make yourself happy by buying art and staring at it for 3 hours.
EDIT: yeah i'll shut up now
Stop shitting this thread up.
Alright, I'll do it as a favor for all those times you've stood up for me :saddowns:
I used to be a huge fan of the game and play it all the time, but over time Valve fucked it up beyond recognition. Now I don't play it anymore, and I try to stay the hell away from the community. However I get bored when other threads are moving slow, so I check back here every now and then.
Now the common view is that I'm the kind of person that goes "STOP LIKING WHAT I DON'T LIKE".
From my perspective however, it's more like this "Why the fuck do you like that thing I used to like, now that they have pissed all over it. Why and how the FUCK can you actually enjoy that they pissed all over it and actually think that it's still good?".
It's easy, I ignore the cosmetics. Sure, some of the weapons are unsavory as far as theme and even some of the statistics, but that's where the actual gameplay comes from and I'll be damned when I pay more attention to customization that doesn't do anything more than I do gameplay.
I haven't been able to play TF2 in 6 months due to insufficient hardware, but TF2 was the most fun I've had playing an online game. I've seen genuine, vintage, hats, paints, unusuals, crafting, the store, etc in action. I shrugged them off because I'd rather focus on the game I'm playing than the stuff I don't care about.
I play the game because I want to have fun (at least while my computer could still run it), if you don't find it fun, then by all means, you are welcome to that view. But please don't try to diminish something that I still find fun after all these years. Fun is subjective, I am welcome to my view of fun just as you are welcome to your own.

Hello ninja Daimao :ninja:
You can't counter this with "just don't play the game", because Valve looks to the TF2 community as a template for what the rest of the Steam userbase is like at large. They use TF2 as a continuous experiment to gauge community reactions.
The Portal 2 hat store was your fault, because the TF2 community loved the Mannco store.
Valve polluting other games with Portal content was your fault, because the community loved the promo items.
The TF2 community is at least partially accountable for all of Valve's future actions because Valve uses it in the decision-making process, be they good or bad, so I have every right to complain.
This USED to be my favorite game.
This is no longer my favorite game, I don't even know what game this is.
It's not Team Fortress 2, I can tell you that.

lol
I still genuinely like TF2 and no amount of funny looking hats will change that for me, the gameplay is still geuinely fun and TF2 as a whole is still better than 90% of shooters out there and IMO the best class based shooter of all time (I still like MNC though :v:). Seriously stop being so dramatic or stop posting in a section for a game you dislike so much.

is there anything wrong with the portal 2 store? Really?
Hey that threadshitting thing wasn't just for Simski FYI
is there anything wrong with the portal 2 store? Really?
Yes. It's unneeded for a 2-player co-op game, and all of the content should have been made available for free to begin with.
Actually, the Blighted Beak is a direct window into the Medic's personality. Notice how the eyes are not clear; this represents the fact that no one truly knows who the Medic is. Yes, he appears to be a doctor, but is he? Why do you think Meet the Medic is one of the most anticipated "Meet the..."s? Because everyone wants to know who the Medic actually is. The beak also represents the Medic's affinity to birds, as seen in an old draft of Meet the Medic.
http://i281.photobucket.com/albums/kk202/TehBarnz/medic.jpg
Is the Medic actually a birdkeeper? He could be.
Notice the curve of the beak as well. If we represent the curve of the beak as a limp penis, is symbolizes the Medic as the weaker man in the Heavy/Medic relationship. Overall this rounds out the Medic's wholesome personality; on the outside, Medic is a sadist with a lust for blood, but on the inside he is merely a weak man.
Another important part of the Beak is the fact that is relates to the Grimm Hatte. The Hatte shades the medics eyes, representing outside forces that want the Medic to conform. If we tak the Medic as gay, the Grimm Hatte represents society's distrust and hate in gay mean. The Grimm Hatte tries to cover the Medic's eyes, he Beak props up the hat to show that the Medic is openly gay and will not conform to society's mindset.
The "trust" factor also comes up with the Beak. Plague doctors were both frightening devils yet saviors as well. If a Beak wearing Medic ubers you, you cannot tell if he will abandon you mid-uber. The Beak hides his face and his personalities and brings out his distrust in the world.
Also, the fact that the Beak is paintable represents the multiple personalities of the Medic. These pop up from time to tim ein game (battle medic, healer medic, etc) and the Beak is a direct representation of the Medic's personalities and, overall, and insight into his very soul.

There's a lot more going into developing features for games than what the TF2 community likes. The TF2 community does serve as a template, because TF2 is one of their most popular games and represents a strong spectrum of Valve fans: casuals, hardcore, competitive, clan, "aesthetic," fanartists, etc. A template, however, is not something that provides a strong yes or no answer when brought into completely different contexts. They play a rather partial role when dealing with other communities, other games, and other environments.
TF2 brings about ideas for Valve to quickly experiment with, and get a feel for what that specific community likes. From there, they can start to research what other game communities like and if some aspects of TF2's non-primary gameplay features can be brought over to those games. "Mann Co" in Portal 2 was definitely influenced by its success in TF2, although according to Robin in his latest NPR interview, represents a much grander scheme. Steamworks as a successful multiplayer tool was definitely spawned and aided through TF2, too. However, if TF2 really did serve as a template in how future Valve games should develop, L4D2 should've been an ongoing process of DLC for L4D1 because TF2 fans "liked" the day-by-day and spontaneous update overviews and releases for TF2, respectively. With your logic, Day of Defeat Source, Counter-Strike, and Alien Swarm should all be operating with custom hats and other cosmetic features because it's enormously popular in TF2. Speaking of these communities, when Valve does observe the TF2 community, they don't simply look at SPUF and call it a day. It's pretty well-known that Valve looks at a lot of different TF2 communities and observes their opinions and reactions. That's part of the reason why Valve made a big deal about the Hatless Update and called it a "major" update, because they knew a lot of hardcore fans were tired of hats. Valve knows that a lot of people dislike hats, but they also know that a lot of people do and that it's a very popular aspect of the game. Because they saw that, that's why we're seeing very few games actually transfer Mann Co: it's overwhelming, controversial, and crates a chasm in games that don't hold a strong playerbase or community. That's also why the Portal 2 co-op characters have very small hats: to diminish their cosmetic role and flashiness.

Grow the fuck up, Valve lets you buy cosmetics in an online store for your character. It's not a Pay2Win game by any means, and Valve has stressed multiple times it never will be.
As far as I'm concerned, Valve is pulling of a genius move because they know there are people out there willing to shell out tons of money for cosmetics. They can't just keep updating TF2 with free content, they need money, and they're getting it without penalizing those who can't afford to be charged.
Stop crying "waah the bad community ruined tf2 valve should only cater to the good part including me". It's not a big deal and you need to deal with it.

Exactly, it's really such a small portion of the game it's mindnumbing to get upset about it. If anything, get upset about the community splurging out about hats.

Not wanting to be "that guy", but what about the sets that actually require cosmetic items inorder to receive the benefits IE Milkman of example?
