Why wasn't it done yet?
I don't know, but trust me you can make it with hammer + source mod (even without Source Mod but I'm not sure). Medieval CTF sounds a bit like... not really a NEW gamemode. When Medieval was introduced, a lot of people complained "It's not a new gamemode, it's just melee restriction and that's all! omg"
Why wasn't it done yet?
Valve probably wanted to see how the community reacted to the Medieval gamemode before trying anything new with it.
Hold the flag then... :v:
Thats King of the Hill, but instead of keeping a point you keep a flag.
Hold the flag then... :v:
King of the Flag won't work out so well unless the flag holder has restricted mobility either by game design or map design. There are almost always places that certain classes can get to that others cannot, and that's not fun for those other classes.
Holding the flag would just boil down to get flag, camp in a corner with 5 sentries, win
Holding the flag would just boil down to get flag, camp in a corner with 5 sentries, win
Or get the flag with a sticky jumper Demo, then blast yourself around the map at high speeds. Always fun.
Holding the flag would just boil down to get flag, camp in a corner with 5 sentries, win
... Make it Medieval and remove crits so it's balanced and add some themed hats. Whoa I think I channeled Robin there for a sec
... Make it Medieval and remove crits so it's balanced and add some themed hats. Whoa I think I channeled Robin there for a sec
Then it becomes this: Grab the flag; hide behind team for the rest of the round. And it makes Scouts even more annoying since they can outrun everyone and they get a double-jump. It's not fun
This gametype sounds like Oddball from Halo. It was ok, but they could do so much more with TF2. You know what, I WANT to see more boss battles like the Headless Horsemann. They just need to fix some issues that he had, like mainly his range and weakness to players like Heavies with 100% crits. And they could use this as a boss, or one of the boss' NPC cronies :P And by 1969, it would look like this: Four score and 10 years ago I was built to battle mercenaries, and I've been brought back once again to fight more mercenaries.
Holding the flag would just boil down to get flag, camp in a corner with 5 sentries, win
Just like fortwars.
I hope that the blight that is medieval mode is never dealt with or supported again.
Raid utilizes control points, as seen from this pic: http://img683.imageshack.us/img683/6126/sts5.png too small, didn't read: GAMES/TF2 # tf_english.txt # raid_setup_goal Capture the Control Points to win the ga... Second from top.
For all of you discussing the possibilities of Raid mode. Though it doesn't disbar the possibility of a flag being involved, I feel koth_ctf is going to be a bit off the mark. For similar reasons it's likely not medieval ctf in its vanilla form.
If they bring the Civilian back officially, I hope that they use that guy's model simply because of what it reminds me of. [img_thumb]http://i53.tinypic.com/2ir6y9z.png[/img_thumb] "Nice hat. I HATE hats! I need pictures, pictures of Demoman!"
Maybe they killed two birds with one stone and had Simmons voice The Civilian while he was up there doing work with Portal 2. Rate me rainbows.

We're getting ready to release mandatory updates for TF2, CS:S, DoD:S, and HL2M this afternoon. This is just a heads-up that they're coming. -Eric Here we goooooo :)

Other people got the same email too. So that email's confirmed. :3:
It's a source engine update most likely. Notice the other games next to tf2?
obviously every game is getting hats
It's a source engine update most likely. Notice the other games next to tf2?
The same email was sent out for the Teddy Update and the Hatless Update.
I just very much doubt they would announce what seems to be the biggest update in tf2 history. I'm sorry.
We'll just see this afternoon. I'll be in a lecture so I guess I'll have to catch up when I get back :v:
It's a source engine update most likely. Notice the other games next to tf2?
Most times every source engine game is recieving updates packed with big tf2 updates.
It's a source engine update most likely. Notice the other games next to tf2?
They do ship engine update for other games with TF2 updates: http://store.steampowered.com/news/5105/ Eh I still would not be surprised if it was another hatless bugfix update.
We'll just see this afternoon. I'll be in a lecture so I guess I'll have to catch up when I get back :v:
pfft, I'm in a lecture right now I never let it stop me ;)
pfft, I'm in a lecture right now I never let it stop me ;)
Not having a computer within the room nor internet access does hinder that ability.
It helps I'm a New Media Major I guess. 90% of my classes are in computer labs with the fastest Internet money can buy.
Going with Political here. I just realized the hatless update still broke lots of people's computers, so before they add this big update they need to ship out an update to fix all the bugs and such.
