As small a triumph as this is, being Monday, it's a damn good idea nonetheless.
I'm hoping we get some modes that have something to do with the story.
for example, maybe have a flashback mode, where all the classes are the old west ones from the comic (Scout=Billy the Kid, Soldier=Stonewall Jackson, Pyro=Lincoln, Demo=Alfred Nobel, Heavy=John Henry, Engie=Nikola Tesla, Medic=Sigmud Freud, Sniper=Davey Crocket, Spy=Fu Manchu). it would feature canon and time period-appropriate maps and weapons (Heavy gets a hammer, Soldier gets a rifle, Demo gets sticks of dynomite, Engie gets Tesla Coils, etc.). It'd be like Team Fortress 2.5.
well, either that or Pirate Fortress... and none of that "realistic" stuff, I want classic PIRATES. hooks, eye patches, cutlasses, rum, parrots, dubloons, cannons, jolly rogers, the works. make it happen Valve. Pirate Fortress: like Medieval mode, but with Pirates (so it's better)

1850's mode would be awesome! I think swizzle, who made the demo set is modelling them along with some other people at polycount.
i-ghost got a community weapon today, so his sound mod is probably coming to the real game very soon.
Which gets me very excited.

i-ghost fixed audio glitches like Dalokah's bar being delicious ham, and the Eyelander being a bottle of scrumpy. And a ton of other things including new lines for Crit-A-Cola, the Fists of Steel and various other things + domination lines for Heavy.
And he did it all using just unused dialog lines, which makes it all that more impressive. Basically no voice clip remains unused, other than a few that had corrupted lip-synching.
It's been in the beta for a few weeks, and portions of it were implemented with the replay update. The full update is bound to be released soon, and now that he got a community weapon, it probably means it'll come sooner rather than later.
It's also only 100kb...

Talking about that, Brandon told me that they do plan on adding community weapon sounds (before this was in beta) so it's possible we will be getting mine (and others if there are any) sounds for weapons like Frontier Justice & blutsauger in the near future.

You can easily copy the templates from other articles and put the different data. It's not too difficult and gives better impression, at least I prefer seeing an incomplete article with all the templates and things put well together than a simple "It's a new hat for the Heavy"

I made a firing sound, a reload, and the air "swoosh" of the arrow flying past you.
I might have made a custom hit sound for the arrow also, but I'm not entirely sure. I submitted it a few months ago.

A lot of Portal 2 copies have also been given to translators on STS. And of course there were these Community Weapons before.

STS still is entirely voluntary but some incentives are given from time to time to those who deserve them.
