A community weapon shouldn't be the goal. It should be a reward for people who helped the community in any way. If you like doing something for the community, fine. You are skrewing up things here.

Well, I want it because I'd feel like I helped the community. And it's cool, I'd be proud to own one.

The act of helping the community should be the primary goal. A community item is secondary. If you get one, then Valve has recognized that you've helped the community. If not, who cares? You still helped the community, that should be good enough for you.

Yeah, but if you have no idea what could help the community except pretty much all you cannot do then I just have to agree a butt. Learn. Modelling isn't really that hard ans there are many tutorials. Mapping is quite easy. The only thing you need is a good idea. And most of them you won't get when you think about what a good ideq could be.

Also, don't expect something right away, it takes time to learn to do those things well and later become recognized. Even trying for the Wiki Cap takes time to learn to make quality edits and make contributions to the articles as a whole. On top of that, you have more experienced contributors everywhere, tf2maps, the emporium, the wiki, everywhere there is always someone who has more ability (especially when you first start), don't let that get you down, just keep learning.

I'm really looking forward to the next few weeks. I know, most people already think that it will be released soon, but I'm still so excited. And these meet the medic hints are making me even more happy. Also: the beta weapons didn't recieve updates for quite some time which maybe shows that valve is satisfied with the current stats.

God, I hope not. Those Soldier items are still broken as all hell.
