Has your opinion of a class / character changed since 2007?
The original design didn't call him a crossdresser. The purse in the locker was never stated to belong to Pyro, this idea was created by the community. However since him being the owner was the most logical if it were to belong to anyone in the crew, this is what the purse has become.
Valve answered the conspiracy theories about the purse by giving him feminine "humiliation round" animations. Since it is highly unlikely that he is female, the most fitting answer to the socially awkward and sometimes feminine personality of Pyro is that he is a crossdresser.
The purse belonging to his long laugh daughter or his dead wife brings unknown people into the picture and doesn't fit any of his personality traits.
Now bugger off.
So basically, you try to conclude his character design based on your opinion on Valve's response to the community, despite they never have given any official words on his backstory, or revealed his identity further? Clearly, what you know about his design must be correct, and me leaving options open is completely wrong.
Hurr, oki doki then!

Pfft. They haven't given any backstory on the Pyro other than telling us that he's a pyromaniac and the rest about him is a mystery. However you are stupid if you can't see the stereotypes he exhibits. I'm basing my opinion on what the game shows about the characters and what Valve has stated about them, I don't make overly complicated conspiracy theories.
But, I guess governments is all clean and never do crimes/ethicly wrong things.
In the words of Terry Pratchett:"Steal 5 dollars and you're a petty thief, steal thousands of dollars and you're either a hero or government."
However Valve is contradicting themselves when they said Medic is not based on Nazi stereotypes, just go watch Herr Flick if anyone were to agree.
You broke my automerge you ass >:C
I've really liked the conversation going on here. Especially Pyro, because people have so many different theories about him.
My pyro is very funny looking. I don't play the class, but truth to be told, the outlook of my Pyro makes it almost my favorite class.
Brown mexico hat, vintage homewrecker, vintage flaregun, primeval badge. It looks so awesome :v: Fun to mess around with it, shooting flares and shouting "HUDAHUDAHU" and whacking buildings with homewrecker.

maybe they are doing it to prevent mass hysteria if the press got hold of it
'PC GAME LETS YOU PLAY AS A NAZI'
You know how people like to emphasis the smallest detail and blow it out of proportion
Because playing as a Nazi is so bad, but slaughtering them in inhumane ways many times over in Call of Duty isn't? :v:

I CAN see the stereotypes, I also said so earlier, but the stereotypes can in no way be concluded as being the truth. Also, I've already said it's fine what you base you view on him on, but it cannot be concluded as the truth either. If you had actually been reading what I've said all along, what I'm saying is directly opposite of making conspiracy theories. Well, I did make theories, but mainly to prove a point. The point being that, everything could be correct, and we don't know shit to conclude him.
But, at the end of the day, then what the fuck does it matters. Valve have become WAY too happy with making him some troll character, and at this point I don't think we well know his true identity ever(that, or they will wait till the game is about to die/TF3/etc). They will keep him mystic, and keep trolling.
However, Valve did say that Meet the Pyro, will let us see the world from his view, so maybe we get to know why he... You know... Burn things.

Look at how the media suddenly changed its opinion of cod:mw2 the second they heard of the 'no russian' level. The west's media, gives it out, but cant take it.
I view the scout as homosexual now
the milk and wet fish :v:
that and all the rule 34'ing

I believe they only said he ISN'T nazi, but he could be based on nazi stereotypes, and probably is.
He do use a needle gun to kill, and the nazi were known for liking "extreme" experiments, which is a love Medic share.

Greetings, welcome to what hypocrizy have become, may I take your coat?
I guess burning nazi's would be best, since unethic must be faught with unethic! :v:

Also, fuck CoD. Playing nazi dinosaur in Dino D-Day is the most fun I've had in a game for a long time!

And I disagreed with that because I felt it very much was possible to conclude Pyro's stereotypes based on what we know about him. People seem to think he needs to have an origin to have a stereotype, but he does not. Being the guy who's background, face, and gender is a complete mystery is his stereotype. This as well as all the stereotypes of being a pyromaniac.
The only things incorrect about the Pyro, is the stereotypes that does not support his mysterious, or pyromaniac stereotype. Pyro's gender will NEVER be revealed, and neither will his face, or his origins. Why? Because that would destroy one of his main stereotypes, being the guy nobody knows anything about.

I'm glad we can agree on something.
Compare Medic's personality to Herr Flick of the Gestapo from Allo Allo.

Well yeah, but that have also been my point all along pretty much. We can base the views on the stereotype about him being unknown, and from that we can not conclude that he is x gender or is from x place or have x personality(excpet that he at the very least is as crazy as everyone else in TF2, but he could be more, and likely is), because he is unknown... Wait, this shit is going in circles, lets just drop it, because apparently we seem to be misunderstanding eachother all the time. Also, we pretty much agreed on he probably wont be "revealed" ever... Whenever that be because they want him mystic, want to troll us for all eternity, or both.
We have said lots of things we are going to regret, but I think we can put our differences behind us, for science, you monster.
I'll still disagree that he's not male though :v:
He was very obviously designed to be male, has a manly voice, and a male voice actor.
Therefor if the purse were to belong to him, the most logical answer would be because he's a crossdresser.
The Demoman is still fucking overpowered and cheap as hell with the sticky spam, but now he's also gimmicky and part of the worst fad out of them all (demopan)

That was a huge point of my original post, where I clearly said I'm 95% sure he is male(before it got twisted into an ethics debate for some reason) and I used the exactly 3 same examples as you. Everything hint in the direction of him being male, or a female with a fucked up voice and really disgusting body... I don't even want to think about that...
As for your last statement, the "IF" play a major role. Because, I agree if he actually purchased the purse himself, he is very likely a crossdresser or just plain fucked in his mind. But, it could also be a gift to him, a memory of a distant past, or maybe Spy put it there... That bloody Spy want to get back on the poor Pyro and make him look like a freak, that bastard!
[editline]11th May 2011[/editline]
Also, yesterday I got to think about the whole weapon of choice thing... While it's true Pyro have chosen a brutal primary, he have chosen a forgiving melee. Most of the classes use melees which would give you a slow and painful death as well, except Pyro, Sniper and Spy(when talking vanilla weapons). Don't even get me started on Medic killing with a bone saw again...
Scout, used to think he was weak.
I was mistaken.
Pyro's always struck me as a metrosexual, honestly.
I like the scout more now for a dumb reason. I laugh because of it's lines when killing a spy. Just that really. He's a douche maybe, but an awesome douche.(My boxes sense are tingling)
Scout: Narcisstic fuck --> Baseball fanatic from Boston
Soldier: Madman civvie --> Bloodhungry maggot masher
Pyro: Crazed fireaddict --> Annoying fuck that doesn't even feel like he belongs in TF2 anymore.
Demoman: Drunk scot --> Scot with a sword possessed by spirits.
Heavy: Fucking awesome --> Fucking ridiculous
Engineer: Texan --> Badass Texan
Medic: German --> Mad scientist
Sniper: Professional, quiet killer --> Pissthrowing australian dickbag.
Spy: Mischievous shadow that skulks behind you --> Frenchman that should be spying the leaders instead of the fighters.
I always thought of engineer as the most sane of them all, then the engie update came out and he cut off his fucking hand and installed the Gunslinger.
The most sane is definitely the Spy. He also seems the most calm, and most intelligent.
[editline]12th May 2011[/editline]
Engineer is still my favourite class, though. I'm okay with the whole "insanity" thing, and personally think it's kinda cool. The whole robotic eye and robotic fist thing is pretty badass. It's the cool kind of insanity, if that makes sense.

Insane? But it was for Science! :science:

But... What if he had the Gunslinger under his glove all the time :O?
Maybe he lost his hand in an accident or in combat, and then replaced it... Nearly everyone always seem to think he just went crazy for science and cut off his own hand.
how can you sew something off? :P
Scout: Loudmouth street-kid and sports vandal > Loudmouth milkman and sports fanatic.
Soldier: Extremely patriotic American Soldier who's delusional and obsessed with war > Delusional American Soldier who's obsessed with War heroes no matter their relation to his country.
Pyro: A faceless pyromaniac who enjoys burning people to death but is very friendly with his teammates > A cute misunderstood guy or girl who wears silly things on his head and shoots air at people.
Demoman: A black Scottish cyclops who's an expert at explosives and always drunk on the battlefield > A black Scottish cyclops who's Scottish and fights using Scottish swords and shields or by using things named after Scottish things or wears hats from Scotland, or things black guys wear, or pirate things since he's got an eyepatch.
Heavy: Stereotypical Russian "dumb muscle" henchman with an unhealthy obsession with his minigun > A Russian communist retarded person who talks to his food and is a fan of American things.
Engineer: An intelligent and soft-spoken Texan mad inventor > A mad inventor Texas Cowboy with a deep obsession for his machines.
Medic: A person who like the German gestapo has a strict, emotionally cold, and sadistic personality who is also a sadistic German doctor and like stereotypical scientists uses a retro-futuristic healingbeam > A German who's German but not a nazi, and German, as well as Doctor, and German, and a knight, and a German.
Spy: A Zorro or James Bond-esque overly sophisticated and classy secret agent with retro-futuristic gadget weapons disguised as ordinary objects > A snobby, passionate, and overly sophisticated stereotypical French frog who loves mocking people.
Sniper: A Crocodile Dundee inspired Australian outback hunter and assassin who's an expert with a Rifle > Crocodile Dundee reborn as a mentally deranged assassin who shoots arrows or throws piss at people.
I agree completely with all of that, Simski.
I think the Engie has changed for the better, though. Personally.
The Engineer is probably the only character I still feel is still his same old self, only now his obsession with his machines stands out a bit more extreme. The only thing I don't like about new Engineer is really just all the silly hats and that they gave him a little bit too many Texan based things. I also really don't like the Teddy Bear, it doesn't make a lick of sense with Engineer's stereotypes.

Unlikely since:
1. The blogpost during the Engineer update outright stated that he cut off his arm to attach the Gunslinger.
2. His gunslinger is attached further up on his arm than what the glove covers.

I love the teddy. Sort of shows that the Engie has a "soft side". A little companion. A "Lil' Pocket Pardner"

It's the first I hear someone other than me dislike the Teddy...
He's a god damn mercenary, why would he make himself look like a big baby.
Gee, thanks for the NSFW shit slap dab in the middle of the OP without mentioning it in the thread title.
