I think you might've misinterpreted me, I meant that he seems to me like the kind of guy who'd wear a certain hat as an in-joke to himself.
The rifle shooting piss is probably more the fact that Valve have become lazy, and just re-use the effect to show that the person now takes mini-crits. It would be pretty fucked up to put piss into darts, so I'd imagine it's some sort of poison. Not that I have any idea if it is, I just honestly think it's Valve who can't be bothered to do a new effect, because they would rather do 10 new promos.
tbh if they did a poision effect, all the pyros would again complain about the afterburn getting another damage over time counterpart.
Also the jarate effect was only for the jarate when the sleeper was released, there needs to be more weapons that utilise status effects. I mean how often do you bleed during a game?

Yeah... I still don't think he's the kinda guy who'd do that.
We already got robot hands which can do more than the Engineers hand can. Now you are forced to videotape you cutting off your hand :colbert:
Really? A lot of robotic hands I see that are made for people are still sort of in development and look like the movements are sort of clunky. Not to mention the cost.

Why would they complain if poison did the exactly same thing as jarate, but just made more sense? Who cares about such pathetic complaints anyway... I didn't mean poison as a damage over time effect, but rather a poison which buff your damage like jarate does.
You guys are overanalyzing.
The creator of Duffy Duck was once presented a deep psychological interpratation of the character, and you know what was his reaction? He just said that Duffy is a simple cartoonish duck with no other means but to entertain the watcher.
TF2 characters are just that + more psychotic personality.

posion is universally in games a damge over time mechanic. In how many games have you played does posion have a different effect.
As the for the complaining, someone always complains. Even if you gave someone £10000, they would still complain

I've seen some more recent robot limbs which actually seemed pretty good, but I'm not sure if god and every person can get such, and it also depends on where you live. Also, you wouldn't want a hand as the Engineers, it would work poorly in real life. It's not even shaped as a hand, the fingers is just some thin blocky sticks, would be terrible to use.

If I'm there hopefully a good deal, Southern Hospitality

Doesn't have to be like that at all. It's hard to put an universal effect on poison, because poison can do all sorts of shit in different games. It's not like freezing for example, which does universally always seem to be a slowdown/stun effect.
I just remember from WoW(didn't play for long, but I had a 80 rogue, so I know about poison) alone that poison can do all sorts of weird things, such as buffing/damage/misc mechanics, etc. If it was a damage buffer from a dart in TF2, it would make as much sense as many others.

How would we know for sure?
Perhaps it feels absolutely amazing to fap with.

Fapping with a blocky metal hand?
Well, maybe if you also had a robot penis... Wait, holy shit, maybe we just found the real reason for him getting the Gunslinger!

:v:
But in all seriousness though, the Gunslinger made his arm stronger and more durable, and perhaps it had something else his had didn't have that was necessary for placing the mini-sentry that fast. Either way I don't think for a minute that Engineer cared much how it would effect his every day life, as long as it was something that could be useful to handle his machines with.

Insert penis
Pull cord
????
Profit?
I used to love playing sniper but now soldier ruins that every time

That is gameplay realted, though. This thread is more about how you feel about the classes personality progress.
Soldier is actually one of the least troublesome classes for me as Sniper, though. Scouts on the other hand...
I think the Jarate is extremely fitting, as are all of his earlier weapons.
The Huntsman I disagree with. While it may be similar to a sniper rifle in a way a crossbow would still be much more fitting and make sense, since crossbows are sniping weapons.
The piss rifle is just dumb, just really dumb. It's not fitting at all in the game IMO.
I love every class equally now, and play them all.
What problem did he have with his hand? It doesn't seems like a problem to him when I play vanilla Engi.

Well, I guess that depends on view. Personally, I've never seen Medieval items as being too unfitting, since they at least come from a time which was set BEFORE the TF2 universe, so maybe they had weapons as wall decorations in their homes and thought "Well, this could do!" and brought them into combat.
They still doesn't fit with the original theme, but at least they aren't items from the future, like some items is. It makes sense that Sniper chose a bow(crossbow would makes sense too), when he was to choose a weapon of older times. Now, why Medic would choose a Crossbow... That's just weird.
The Huntsman does maybe not fit so much into the original theme, but it does fit for his personality. It's very long range, it's accurate(except the falloff was overdone in TF2 for balance) and it's good to impale heads with. I do actually think a Crossbow would have made more sense, though.
Medic probably chose crossbow because he loves dealing out pain instead of healing it.
Also, I actually think that Engineer sawing off his arm to add a mechanical one, isn't too far out of character.
Engineer always seemed sort of crazy, for science.

Well, obviously. But that doesn't exactly explain why he decided on a Crossbow...
When I'm thinking on a Crossbow, I'm relating it much more to Sniper.

Well, what other ranged weapons did they have in medieval except for (cross)bows? One-man hand-held ones.

He could have just used Melee in Medieval only, just like many other classes is. I know that's why Valve decided on a Crossbow, but in this thread we try to see the things from a lore standpoint... Yeah, lore does sound silly for TF2.
Oh well, I'd imagine Sniper get one too, eventually.

Maybe if they gave him a healing potion instead of a medigun.

It would actually be pretty cool to have a throwable healing potion thats like jarate but heals.

Exactly what I meant.

The Huntsman fits the Sniper's hunter, wilderness survivalist personality. For the Sleeper, I'm pretty sure Valve just wanted an easy way to explain the game mechanic they wanted the weapon to use. Also, using Jarate in bullets isn't really a stretch from using it as a weapon.
A crossbow is just terribly out of character for Medic not because of his personality or German heritage, but because of his class role.
Giving the Medic a crossbow is about as iconic to his role as giving the Scout a Minigun.
Now even if the Minigun for Scout was fast firing and bad everywhere but in close range, it would still be a fucking Minigun for Scout.
[editline]13th May 2011[/editline]
It's like giving Pyro throwing knives.
It's like giving Spy a rocket launcher.
[editline]13th May 2011[/editline]
It's like giving Sniper a jetpack.
It's a way to heal teammates in medieval, even though it isn't really that effective.
I guess it's the medieval equivalent to the medigun.

Well, it's clear they chose it for Medieval, but it's still terribly unfitting for medic.
Would have worked better with a Healing Potion(like someone suggested) or something similar, or he could just have had the Amputator only for healing.
I actually expected some kind of sagely staff the Medic would use for healing and whacking. Got the Amputator.
