Has your opinion of a class / character changed since 2007?

didn't read everything but the sniper notably uses low tech weaponry that we would consider primitive, even in his original loadout. a bow makes perfect sense following this logic; the most advanced weapon he has is jarate for god's sake. everything else is made of wood or animals.
Jarate may be crude, but it reveals spies and extinguishes teammates, and he can easily refill it every 30 seconds. The Razorback may be simplistic but it is capable of taking an attack that can deal 1000 damage. The Tribalman's Shiv is made of wood, yet makes enemies bleed a fuckton. The Huntsman is even more lethal at close ranges then the sniper rifle; one shot and you've got a dead scout, as long as you aimed somewhere in the vague direction that the scout was in. The Danger Shield is made of animal pelt but lets him take 20% more punishment.
The Sydney Sleeper and Bushwacka are notably more advanced then the rest of his weapons, though.
Part of the sniper's character seems to be that he doesn't follow in the rest of Australia's footsteps as manly men.
TL;DR a bow makes perfect sense; a low-tech solution to the problem of 'they're not dead yet'.

Sniper Rifle and SMG.
The only primitive weapon before the unlockable weapons was the Kukri, and that's not too far-fetched either.
So the updates definitely flanderized his Australian outback hunter side A LOT.

The Sniper Rifle holds one shot and needs to be charged. Seems pretty primitive. The SMG apparently shoots peas.

That doesn't seem very primitive to me at all.
It's still a rifle and a machine gun, not the kind of things you'd imagine bushmen fighting each other with.
The Sydney Sleeper is an air-powered dart rifle, and the razorback has a car battery strapped to it.

It's like giving Spy a rocket launcher.

I actually want these thing.
I think the Jarate is extremely fitting, as are all of his earlier weapons.
The Huntsman I disagree with. While it may be similar to a sniper rifle in a way a crossbow would still be much more fitting and make sense, since crossbows are sniping weapons.
The piss rifle is just dumb, just really dumb. It's not fitting at all in the game IMO.
I agree. They should've given the crossbow the the Sniper. Long reloads, sure, but instant 360 damage charge would make stuff more interesting. Since Sniper Rifle would deal with long-range targets and Huntsman at close range, the Crossbow would be for medium range targets. It wouldn't impair your vision by having a small scope, it'd just slightly zoom in and leave your entire FoV open.
It'd make a lot more sense than with the medic, I mean what the fuck.
I'm a little surprised at how serious this discussion got. Now I don't feel too silly chiming in with my opinion.
Something I always keep in the back of my head is that many of the decisions done with weapons were done for gameplay - if something is easily recognizable and distinct, it's good for the game.
That said, the change that the Pyro underwent to stereotype his personality never really sat well with me. I don't see a rifle full of piss as too far-fetched, though, I mean, if Meet the Sniper is something to go by, then he's got a lot of pee to use up.
The new promo Scout weapons are hideous, though. Come onnnnnn

You're an idiot if you really believe this. The effectiveness of a firearm doesn't determine how advanced it is. The SMG is weak for balance purposes (if it was strong then the Sniper could be used as an effective offensive class since he'd have access to a powerful and fast firing fully automatic weapon) and the rifle is a bolt action rifle, like most sniper rifles. The needing to charge is again, for balance purposes as it prevents the sniper from basically acting like Call of Duty, where you can fire an incredibly accurate and strong shot in a second.
According to your logic the spy's revolver is less "primitive" than the Sniper's SMG just because the revolver does more damage, despite the fact that a revolver is much simpler than a handheld gas operated automatic weapon. Why do you think the revolver was invented before the machine gun?
It would actually be pretty cool to have a throwable healing potion thats like jarate but heals.
Holy water. Heals your team, burns the other!
You guys are overanalyzing.
The creator of Duffy Duck was once presented a deep psychological interpratation of the character, and you know what was his reaction? He just said that Duffy is a simple cartoonish duck with no other means but to entertain the watcher.
TF2 characters are just that + more psychotic personality.
Every word of this is true, stop discussing about videogame characters personalities and their obsession for stuff, it's a game.
Demoman was once a defensive class, sometimes offensive if need be.
Now he's an Arabian knight that rams into people that eats weapons for health, and hardly ever dies.
I always thought of the medic as just a plain posh doctor, but after seeing the meet the video you can tell he's a psychopath.

So none of his quotes about hacking people apart and liking hurting more then healing gave that away for you?
None of the classes have changed for me, just expanded a bit.
Woah, now that I saw that meet the pyro banner, I'm gonna stop playing pyro.
Meet the Medic totally changed my thoughts of the Medic
Demoman used to be a little bitch class that only retards did bad with, but now that he is a melee specialist I find myself playing him more and more, since I love being in the thick of things with my trusty blade.
Vanilla Pyro many years ago was mostly known by many to be a mentally psychotic male pyromaniac. At some point along the line, possibly when Pyro got the Respectless Rubber Glove as a hat, people began changing their view on the Pyro to being a lovable retard, whom may possibly be female.
I preferred the former Pyro. I don't exactly favor the new view towards the Pyro much at all. Pyro being a female is fine, but the lovable retard view isn't exactly appealing to me.
My opinion on each have remained the same. I find the the characters too silly to find any of them crazy, they just have cartoon logic and fps logic, so they kill people. The "colder" lines are almost never played and since they aren't always said, it's like they are almost non-canon.
Meet the medic certainly changed my opinion of him. In the game he's some cruel evil guy and in MtM he's some naturally insane person.
Demoman is still the same, he always has that smug grin when he kills me.
Heavy changed from a Russian badass to a Childish Russian Badass.
But Miss Pauling in the director comic was so out of character. She was some wimpy nice doof, but in the director's comic she kills the director! WTF.

It was her order from the Annoucer, and not following her orders is the worst possible thing you could ever do.
Which is why I sorta dislike these comics and new voices, they seem so out of character, to the point that I can never consider them canon. It's they forgot who the characters were.
And people took the Heavy's PhD thing seriously?
