This is just another proof that competitive players have the right to be cocky and elitist (which isnt even true but whatever...) winning 6v9 is crazy, winning 5v6 when one of your team mates drops out is nearly impossible i cant even think how hard it is winning with 3 player difference. People dont seem to understand that there is a level of "skill" after which you just get bored of pubs, sure you can be one of these pub heros with million of followers like that jenning guy but its more fun playing against people who acctually put up some challenge...
Thats the problem, they have to be crazy good and kill everybody with w/e effieciency and in w/e time amount, and act like jerks to have fun. Normal people just play the goddamn game, the way it was supposed to be played. They're taking it way too far.
I see alot more jerks, assholes, elitists and ego monsters on pubs than I do on scrims though.
And the worst part is these people don't contribute anything at all.
At least a dumbass "pro" can get things done.

I agree, whenever I do league play in any game, I have a better time, people are a lot cooler about winning and losing. You still get your occasional asshole, but he gets ignored usually.
If you're in a clan you're bad at the game, valve intentions were to have teamwork form not to be premade. Taking premade boundaries and tactics is how the game was not supposed to be plays and you idiots cannot comprehend that.
In the first Video the red Demoman was awful.
haha [lib] and [Gb] are terrible clans
they could have at least looked harder for some decent pubstars

So basically you're saying the game is supposed to be played with strangers, and strategies should be made directly on the battlefield.
Riiiiiiight.

Amen to that brother
Hi there, organizer/pub engy here. Glad you liked the event - I was expecting a complete roll to be honest. I almost creamed myself when we took a round on Badlands. Me and goldenhearted (who made the awesome posters, check them out here: http://img189.imageshack.us/img189/950/tf2spuf692560x1600.jpg) were both really pleased with the result, as well as I hope the many Source TV spectators.
I'm organizing another one set for next week, so far it's looking to be very popular - the first edition had a peak of 600 spectators in the three Source TV relays Litany set up for me. There's also a EU edition, with much better players than the competitive roster for the NA edition (most of the starters are tops in their classes). I didn't come up with the idea - actually, someone on Gamefaqs started this event using competitive/pub players solely from that forum, and I hosted it on my server. I brought it over to Steam Forums as well, because it was getting people interested in the competitive scene, and was admittedly fun to watch, and because that was a success (there are more people checking out competitive play and pugs and stuff like that) I'm going to be continuing it.
P.S.: To all the people that thought the competitive players were all jerks to the pub players that time, they weren't. Actually, they were all pretty cool guys - nobody raged, everyone had fun, it was a pretty friendly environment, and I'd do it again in a heartbeat if I wasn't trying to let others play in the event.
P.P.S.: If you think you're a really good pubstar who can show these comp. players, send me a message via steam (steam id: cerious). I'm trying out really good pubstars for a special 6v9 event, and the comp. players this time are going to be much better, so this way by selecting good pubstars the match will actually be interesting.
Why do people take this game seriously
It was just an experiment.
As I've said an extremely flawed and bad experiment, it's more of an e-peen boost than an experiment. This is bad and you should feel bad.

Woah woah woah, how is it an extremely flawed and bad experiment? I wasn't expecting a miracle with the pub team winning to prove these 'elitist' comp. players wrong, I was trying to show people how comp. play works (if you watched how the 6s team played together) and how big the skill gap is between pubbers and comp. players (which most people thought didn't exist). If anything, the 600 spectators is a testament to how well this experiment worked out.
Also those comp players weren't too good. I'm a pubber and I'm sure my friends and I would've rolled them.
Also those comp players weren't too good. I'm a pubber and I'm sure my friends and I would've rolled them.
That's why they're doing more of those
Feel free to sign up!
So this experiment was to show that a coordinated premade team will be more efficient than a couple of normal pubbers... I'm sorry this is common knowledge it does not need an experiment. It's like an experiment to show if fish can swim faster than humans, of course they fucking can in fact it's so well known it's more a display than an "experiment."
You've even said you are showing us how a "comp" works but it's actually not all that hard to figure out with an ounce of sense.
Also those comp players weren't too good. I'm a pubber and I'm sure my friends and I would've rolled them.
Yeah, just shoot me off a message on steam. Tell me you're the pubstar who thinks that nobody is as good as him and I'll see if you're any good :)

Yeah I know that it isn't hard to figure out, but for most of the Steam Forums people it is. I made this thing with one goal in mind - expanding the competitive community. If everyone was as close-minded as you are, I don't think ANYONE would want to play competitively.
The Steam Forum guys are stupid - this is fact, everyone knows this, I don't think anyone disagrees with me about this. However, with the right kind of event (like this) I can try to educate them a little more about how comp. play works, and why most of their assumptions about it are usually false - I'm not trying to prove a point to someone who already understands comp. play or actually understands how it all works. You can't seem to get that, unfortunately.

i would message you and ownzone for the pub team but i played some competitive matches back in the day so i guess i would be DQed?
Phanny, you guys need to get the holla patrol in there.

Show them a real team.
Setup isn't on all maps, and it's mainly for engies and medics.
Really there's no reason to hate leagues.
It's like you're butthurt because you know you'll always be stuck on the same pub server as a shitty pyro since you're so close minded.

Well, if you haven't played in any big leagues like CEVO-A/P or ESEA-O/I, or you're not the top tier in a league like TWL or UGC, you can go ahead. I think the pub engy for next week's edition plays on the BONGO team or something like it, but they aren't too great of a team so I let him sign up.
also quit whining both sides of the argument and go let off some steam or something elsewhere

I play spy and I play exclusively on the facepunch server, why do you hate pubbers so much?
And my reason for hating leagues is because you're too fucking serious.

Strapped to my chair, can't.
thing is i will not be able to hold a highlander team together all alone, the highlander rules really depend on getting your teams shit together and i dont think a bunch of pub players who think they're good will want to listen to anyone
Get a few friends in with you then. I don't mean the whole team I mean like one or two, 2 people shouting at you to lift your ass up and do something is much more effective.
I don't hate pubbers, I'm one myself.
I just respect those who decide to take the grand step of leaving spammy 32-man gameplay.
