Does anyone have an insightful Source Engine animation tutorial with 3DS Max 2010? (so far, I've understood that there's a SMD for the mesh, and one for each animation, which only contains bone data.)
Is there a tutorial anywhere on turning your .obj files into models for tf2? Like positioning hats and such? Please and thank you. :)
Added the jigglebones... but fucked the bone orientation :D http://i48.tinypic.com/99p7qg.jpg And it seems I can't get it to work again D: Any help with this?
Still having the same problem. When I add the jigglebones the parent bone (bip_head) rotates towards them and makes the orientation of the model wrong. No one that could give me a hand with it? I had no prior modelling experience before this :(
Maybe try setting bip_head as the bone root.

Alright, so after thinking about it enough, I decided I would like to go ahead with my idea. The one thing I didn't like about the TF2 comic was that they made the Soldier ashamed of being a Civilian; I thought he shoulda' been like, "Yeah, I didn't get credit for killing people. I killed 'em anyway." So I thought a good Rocket Launcher model would be one constructed from scrap parts as a sort of Rocket Launcher he made for himself to kill people before he could get his hands on a real one. Three names I thought up (with a love of alliteration) were "The Civilian's Contraption", "Doe's Dumpster Device" and "Jane's Jigsaw Jammer". After a bit of realizing I sucked dick at tracing and sketching schematics... http://filesmelt.com/dl/doe_1.jpg ...I ended up with the design below. http://filesmelt.com/dl/doe_3.jpg I tried to make it out of scrap items that you would find in the '40s or during WWII. Looking at it now, the glue would be pretty ugly (assuming the entire thing isn't) so it would probably be better for the things to just look like they're cut exactly to be screwed into the pipe or something. And people seem to love jigglebones, so there could probably be a very faint jiggle bone on the coat hanger and a more apparent one on the hanging part of the belt, if I'm even using the concept correctly. So what do you guys think: is it a good idea? Is it a bad idea? Am I about to get flooded with clocks?

Do it! "Doe's Dumpster Device"!

Great idea, and effort put in, waay better than just going "maek a rokkit lorncher owt off shit 'n stuff".
Instead of peas it should be soup. the tin cans on the rocket launcher, I mean.
This is a brilliant idea. Are you going to model it?
Glad you like it. I am thinking of just letting the idea go to whoever is willing to model it (and possibly Contribute it to Valve). While I would like to be known as part of its inception (and maybe get a special one if Valve actually liked it too), I don't have any modeling or skinning experience. I was considering using some tutorials and t&e to do this, but it might be better for me to just hand the idea off to someone else who is experienced (because from the amount of different parts, it seems like some pretty hardcore modeling and texturing would be needed) and can pull it off well. Because being known for the idea isn't as important to me as seeing this idea pulled off in a badass way.
Instead of peas it should be soup. the tin cans on the rocket launcher, I mean.
You're right, SOUP would be better than PEAS. And now that you made me look back at the comic, even if RIBS weren't rationed, they would probably be a nice reference to replace the BEEF or COFFEE.
plz gif critz If it's scribbled on, that means I haven't textured it yet. Everything else is WIP, so please suggest improvements! (just don't suggest anything too far off from the original eyelander. I want them to look very similar.)
Nah, should be peas, so it can be.. The Peashooter. [editline]08:56PM[/editline] Also DementNeo(hurr), looks very TF2-blood stainy. :D
Daimao, are you playing the Empires Mod?
Awesome Axe
I think there is a bit too much blood. If you look at the eyelander, it only has it on the tip, and all the way down the blade.
I think there is a bit too much blood. If you look at the eyelander, it only has it on the tip, and all the way down the blade.
But it is going to slice ALL THE WAY through a person's neck. Of course there's gonna be bloooood!
Possible. The reason it's like that is because I figured axes are much harder to clean than swords (you just put a sword into the ground and it's "clean") I'll try and tone it down a bit more and see what happens.
I misread this as Bald Engie. :saddowns:
Which would be incredibly more awesome. And disturbing.
I want a mario hat for soldier(fat and plump, and can jump), and a Luigi hat for demoman(jumps higher)
I want a mario hat for soldier(fat and plump, and can jump), and a Luigi hat for demoman(jumps higher)
The Soldier isn't fat.
The only thing really putting me off modelling is the texturing/skinning. Anyone got any tips?
The Soldier isn't fat.
Well, I think he is the fatter of the two.
I'd love to have a Mario cap for the Pyro as he is more plump, runs like Mario during humiliation and shoots fire from his hands. (I tried making it myself, buuuut...)
The Soldier isn't fat.
Soldier is phat though.
Well, I think he is the fatter of the two.
He's bigger, but it's all muscle.
Just like Mario.
Well, I think he is the fatter of the two.
I wouldn't imagine so. the Soldier likely trains himself every day, making sure he is in tip-top shape. The Demoman is an alcoholic.
Why are we talking about Mario and the Soldier's Physical Appearance?
Just like Mario.
Indeed. Here is some undeniable proof:
