Alright, so after thinking about it enough, I decided I would like to go ahead with my idea. The one thing I didn't like about the TF2 comic was that they made the Soldier ashamed of being a Civilian; I thought he shoulda' been like, "Yeah, I didn't get credit for killing people. I killed 'em anyway." So I thought a good Rocket Launcher model would be one constructed from scrap parts as a sort of Rocket Launcher he made for himself to kill people before he could get his hands on a real one. Three names I thought up (with a love of alliteration) were "The Civilian's Contraption", "Doe's Dumpster Device" and "Jane's Jigsaw Jammer". After a bit of realizing I sucked dick at tracing and sketching schematics... http://filesmelt.com/dl/doe_1.jpg ...I ended up with the design below. http://filesmelt.com/dl/doe_3.jpg I tried to make it out of scrap items that you would find in the '40s or during WWII. Looking at it now, the glue would be pretty ugly (assuming the entire thing isn't) so it would probably be better for the things to just look like they're cut exactly to be screwed into the pipe or something. And people seem to love jigglebones, so there could probably be a very faint jiggle bone on the coat hanger and a more apparent one on the hanging part of the belt, if I'm even using the concept correctly. So what do you guys think: is it a good idea? Is it a bad idea? Am I about to get flooded with clocks?
Forgot the valve.
That's sexy
That was... fast...
Forgot the valve.
Melikes.
That was... fast...
3 hours is a lot of time.
I lose track of time while playing TF2
Forgot the valve.
HOLY SHIT YOU WORK FAST! That's beautiful, and I would also say near-perfect. If you could add holes around the very-front pipe end where the connecting bolts would go through (I tried to show it in the secondary sight view) and add the Valve, it would be insane. Goddamn.

That fucking rocket launcher, man That rocket launcher. Man.
The blood needs to be in splotches, not covering the whole of both blade sides
I've picked up Maya and I've understood how animation works. Just gotta learn how to export properly, since it is apparently harder than any other Source-engine related process around :v:
Forgot the valve.
Nice job. Make sure to add the valve though.
That rocket launcher looks too... well made. I figured it would be steampunk, but without the copper look
That rocket launcher looks too... well made. I figured it would be steampunk, but without the copper look
I agree, it could be a little more haphazard.
I find it funny that the rocket launcher took a few hours, while putting a turtle shell onto the engies had took roughly 3/4s of a year. But anywho, nice work
That rocket launcher looks too... well made. I figured it would be steampunk, but without the copper look
How about adding a broken pressure gauge?
Hey, does anyone around here has a Maya exporting guide lying around?
That rocket launcher looks too... well made. I figured it would be steampunk, but without the copper look
It seems like a "haphazard" feel would come from the texture / skinning of it.
How about adding a broken pressure gauge?
A genius idea. The Valve would go on the back pipe while the front pipe could have the little pressure gauge.
Yes, the pressure gauge is a good idea. Make the belt swing if you can, that'd be ace.
That's not what I mean, the pipes and tubes are perfectly straight, and all nice tight fits. Is the soldier a plumber? (ahahha mario joke) He would have different sizes of pipes, as well as dented soup cans with the labels still barely stuck on. the coat hanger is accurate, but not nearly goofy enough. I'll make my interpretation IRL if I can find stuff...

As for the pipes, they wouldn't really be able to go together if they were different sizes. Although I could see there not being every bolt necessary, like maybe every 2nd or 3rd bolt would be missing.
Dented cans would likely be achieved through normal maps. Which involves texturing beforehand.
Forgot the valve.
Fan-freakin-tastic work there. I think valve said that they would make up the effects of the weapon but if i were to make something up myself.. More damage overall and splash, to both your opponent and you. A buddy for the gunboats maybe. Either way great jorb.

Gunboats only prevent damage that does not effect anyone else 2. I'm pretty sure submissions are ONLY reskins.
Before I start texturing the grip, I wanna know if anyone doesn't like these holes in the grip: I based them off the holes in the cloth on the eyelander, but I'm not sure if they work here. Opinions plz:
Ok, I don't have any spare metal pipes but I did catch some ideas. Caulk gun: this withough the caulk, and a big pipe in the middle monkey wrench: This should be modeled proportionately (ie, wide and big, but doesnt stick up on the top) and should be the front handle Also, maybe a knife sheath, without a knife in it. Or a piece of metal with a bullet hole...
Design for my next hat, "The Casanova": ]
Here's some WIP shots to water your mouths. Well not really, it's still quite fugly. To do: - Finish blocking out tail - Add hairtie - Finetune blocked out model - Apply meshsmooth and fintune until it looks good - When satisfied with model, make textures and normal maps - Add jigglebones to hair and hairtie. Anyway, pics:
Would one of you handsomely talented devils be interested in making the Scout's scarf from the TF2 Christmas cards as a Misc Contribution? As far as I know, no one else has made one yet. http://farm3.static.flickr.com/2614/4110105092_954d1b554e_o.jpg
Yay. Now I can post what I did.
So why is it that a day after we got our new weaponsfrom the war update when I requested a lightsaber eyelander it was dumb'd and mocked?
