Well, I modifed Natascha's VMT's basetexture from "v_minigun.vtf/w_minigun01.vtf", to "v_natascha_minigun.vtf/w_natascha_minigun01.vtf". This works... for both models. Anybody know what I did wrong?
wait I can't submit, help me name it quick Officers Overseas Cap are your words, gogogo
Hey guys, I'm steadily progressing on the website code. Now, here's the question for you: what should the website include, feature wise? FYI, the sections of the site are: News, Hats, Skins/Other, Forum, and RSS. Forum will most likely just link to Facepunch. Anyway, what should each section feature? For example, one might say the hats section should include a "featured hat" section (it already does :D), a gallery, and a 5 star voting system.
wait I can't submit, help me name it quick Officers Overseas Cap are your words, gogogo
Officer's Cap sounds good
Officer's Cap sounds good
Too much like Officer's Ushanka.
Been wondering how to do this, thanks.
Nice trilby. Submitting?
So the other day I crafted that newly-found Batter's Helmet and my Stove Pipe (sorry, EDDY, i just had to keep the fro out of principle instead) into a Master's Yellow Belt. First thing I thought of, while it may not be the best idea, was to make this: Good idea or not? If it is, I would appreciate it if someone would enlighten me on how I change the name of items, as it's no longer yellow and I'd like to change it's name to "Jarate Kid Headband"
should be red!
should be red!
I must have bad luck or something because i keep editing hats with only one skinfamily :P I'm just an idiot when it comes to de-compiling models and adding skin families. I guess thats where EDDY came in and showed me who is the boss EDIT: But yeah, how would i change the hat's name since it's no longer pissed on?
Edit the tf_english.txt I think he's refering to how the Japanese flag is Red.
It's purple in the movie, so i kept with the consistency:
I think Pie_Tony is going bananas right now :3:
Why? I haven't actually been in any of these Emporium topics. Explains!
Hello Facepunch. I've been getting into 3D modeling (very) recently and so far have made two hats for the new fan contribution thingy valve is having. I was referred to here by a friend because I want to know how to improve my modeling, so please give me some constructive criticism. I've made 4 3D models in my entire life (that is counting the failed first attempt at my first hat and 3DS Max's viking helmet tutorial), and so far the only "constructive" criticism I've recieved was "could use a bit more improvement on the top of the head" for my pyro hat. Anyway, please let me know what you think and point out any flaws :) First hat: Traditional Drinking Hat (Demoman) http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/82174 A traditional Scottish hat, often worn while out getting drunk. Associated with drunk one-eyed pirates ever since a drinking game went horribly wrong. Coincidentally this was also the day pirates were invented. Second hat: Snow Hat (Pyro) http://www.fpsbanana.com/skins/82395 The pyro's snow hat. Nobody knows why the pyro wears this. Maybe the pyro secretly loves snow and the cold? Maybe the pyro's mother said "don't forget your hat sweetie, and remember to keep warm!"? That would also explain the pyro's career choice. Who knows? A third hat is coming up as well, after that I'll see if I get any new ideas :)
To be honest Knuckles. The Pyro hat could use a bit more improvement on the top of the head

They are unique and interesting and fit the style of TF2 very well.
I love that drinking hat. I even downloaded it myself. Make more please :)
No, I really love them. I'm not sure the Snow one fits the Pyro's character, so Valve might not accept them, but I'd upload them anyway. :buddy:
Been wondering how to do this, thanks.
Did I miss something or is there really no download for this great piece of work? :P
I believe that hat wouldn't fit Engineer's intelligent head.
When I submitted it, I included a some what short story informing Valve that the Engineer's family tradition is the act of turtling. Which is taking care of the small shelled critters of the land and ensuring their safety from harm. What did you think it meant?
No, I really love them. I'm not sure the Snow one fits the Pyro's character, so Valve might not accept them, but I'd upload them anyway. :buddy:
I have already submitted both hats :) At the same time that it doesn't fit the pyro, it does. My reasoning: to me, the pyro character seems to be a little kid, judging from the other hats. Pyro wears pieces of clothes on his head (rubber glove), has a childish beanie and has a fireman's helmet (a lot of kids want to be firemen when they grow up). As in the "backstory" I imagined pyro's mother telling pyro to wear a hat when pyro goes outside and to remember to keep warm. Alternatively, if pyro isn't a little kid mentally, pyro also likes to wear silly, slightly ironic stuff. The fireman's helmet is evidence of this; the fireman is the exact opposite of the pyro in several ways. Going with that train of thought, a snow hat for a character who obviously is never really cold at all seemed pretty funny in a tongue-in-cheek sort of way, which is exactly the kind of humour I feel is portreyed in the pyro's other hats. Also, I'm not defending myself here, just explaining my reasoning :)
My first hat. http://dl.dropbox.com/u/49917/models/ProModeler.jpg On a more serious note, is anyone here using blender to make hats?
I do.

That's quite a good explanation, but...
the fireman is the exact opposite of the pyro in several ways
Airblast?
This year i'll start to tinkle with 3DSMax, and see what i can do D:
I was wondering if anyone's ever got hats working from Bryce.
Airblast?
Ever saw a fireman run around with a flamer and a propane tank de-igniting people HE HIMSELF IGNITED by blasting AIR at it?
