On second thought, I'm thinking about giving it to the medic after all. The red and white would fit much better. I'll replace the beetle with the snake of course. I'll try if I can add the curl without exceeding the polycount.

You do realize that there's a bunch of hats in game that are over the polycount of 800 that valve wants, right? In fact some are easily more than twice that amount.
So if it comes down to making the model look way better and a little over the limit, or crappy and under the limit, go the route of making it look better.
Speaking of polygon counts, anyone know why model viewer always shows a polygon count of twice the actual amount (or at least it does as far as I've seen)?
