Just make the scout run faster. Not by much, maybe a 30% increase in speed or something.
The sandman should be replaced the the thor and instead of stunball it should thrust causing people to fly backwards.
just buff the Bonk so that you dont get pushed around by bullets and explosions since the bullets and stuff actually passes through you.
Valve are planning on remaking bonk from the ground up. In the same way they've remade the sandman, that is.
Buff Bonk by decreasing its down speed time. :[
A pistol without the perfect shot is almost useless to me. Bonk is COMPLETELY useless to me, So your idea is more than useless (to my playstyle)
Doesn't run as fast as scout. I honestly think they should remove the slow-down, I mean, you've already forsaken your long range weapon (and superior DPS too), and I don't care what anyone says, if a Heavy can keep pace with a Scout for any length of time something is fucked.
During the slowdown, if you're heading straight forward, tap the two strafe keys in turn, and the slowdown will mostly disappear.
If it would actually make the scout run faster maybe it would be worth it. [editline]09:03AM[/editline] No, with 4 heads he runs slower than a scout and slower than an equalizer soldier with max speed.
Actually, an Equalizer Soldier with 1 health has the same speed as a Demo wit 4 heads. At least, in my tests they were.
A pistol without the perfect shot is almost useless to me. Bonk is COMPLETELY useless to me, So your idea is more than useless (to my playstyle)
perfect shot? never heard of that before.
Buff Bonk by decreasing its down speed time. :[
Although it would be a step in the right direction, you can essentially skip the slow down period entirely as it currently is if you simply strafe left and right quickly while running. I still don't find it to be a particularly useful unlock. It does seem it needs something extra to broaden its application.
perfect shot? never heard of that before.
If you shoot after not having shot for 1.25 seconds the shot will go straight down your cursors. If you shoot quicker than that (holding down M1) it starts to go inaccurate and sprays everywhere.

If you shoot quicker than that (holding down M1) it starts to go inaccurate and sprays everywhere.
It should be noted that this was a fairly recent patch, when they capped the firing speed of pistols, and made them auto-fire when held down.
you sure as hell shouldn't be able to be invulnerable with it, even if for a short period.
I am the only Invulnerable here.
If they're going to re-balance Bonk! Atomic Punch, they need to do a few things. Firstly, anything that 'misses' does no knockback. Bullets, arrows, needles, etc.. Secondly, afterburn needs to still do damage. I'm sorry, if you're on fire already, you're not going to be 'dodging' it. Thirdly, find out a way to have the concussive force still propel the Scout away, but only for explosives/airblast. It makes no sense for the FaN to launch a Bonk!ed scout back, but 8 sticky bombs are still going to have a massive concussive force. Even if they dilute force from explosives, since it can still technically do damage, at least in the real world, regardless of the shrapnel, airblast should be completely unaffected.
I always thought that afterburn did do damage.
I've always though it should, but I've been told repeatedly that if you drink Bonk! while on fire, it gives you some extra time to grab a medkit or hit a resupply cabinet. I've also seen a few Scouts running by me on my own team who had 'Miss!' popping up on them, and they were on fire. Like, in the middle of our base where there wasn't even a Spy.
No knockback plus picking up the intel is the worst idea I've ever heard as even if you kill the scout, nothing will stop him once he's bonk'd to just run in and edge it closer and closer to the capture zone completely unstoppable. As it's been said multiple times, they just need to redo the scout update, it clearly didn't go well and I think it was valves way of saying everyone should stop suggesting shit as the entire update the communities ideas. "We let the community decide the weapons, now see how broken they are, leave it to us now kthx."
If he dodges the bullets there SHOULDNT BE ANY KNOCKBACK ANYWAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My thoughts are now that Bonk is useful, but not FUN.
It's pretty funny when a Huntsman sniper headshots you when you're Bonk!ed though... Nothing strikes fear into the hearts of you opponents than a scout with an arrow through his left nostril! D:< Nah, in all seriousness though. If I hadn't made it clear earlier, Bonk is a LOT more useful than people give it credit for. I really hope Valve keep it relatively as it is now, and rather than re-making it, just give another unlock if the basic premise is to be changed drastically. As for the Sandman, it's still fairly useful now that it doesn't practically kill you just by taking it. Just my opinion anyway. Hmmm... Maybe people just don't play Scout enough to experiment with any unlock besides the FaN... 'Cause I learned quite a bit by playing as a Scout using all 3 Unlocks in the early days, sure I was regretting my decision at first, but in the long run it taught me to not be judgmental of unlocks that many lamented as 'Useless!' In fact, it showed me that my beloved scout could now be useful in situations where previously it was literal suicide to even think to play scout (Example: 3rd stage on offense in CP_Dustbowl.) Anywho, that should conclude the majority of my input to this subject. >.>;; Though I will say that playing as a 'Distraction scout', for me anyway, is quite a lot of fun if you don't let dying get to you.
Wall of text.
The Sandman adds to the teamwork concept of the Bonk! scout. Give him a FaN and you have yourself a hit and run, distraction, elmination and mobility scout. It seems to me that scout would have a much more supportive role, but it's hard to know what to do when supported by a scout, rather than another class, like a medic or sniper.
^ Agreed. Though to be honest, I doubt many people encounter 'support' scouts in the wild. Spycrabs endangered species? Psh, they ain't got nothing on Support Scouts.
I honestly think Sandman should knock the weapons out of enemy hands. With the "stun" they use now, removing someone's primary and secondary weapon would actively benefit the team. Removed weapons can be reobtained if you pick up a fallen weapon or go to the resupply locker. You still have your melee weapon and targe/gunboats/banner/razorback since those aren't handheld weapons, really. Getting hit by a sandman stun again puts you in the 'lose' animation until you pick up a fallen weapon or resupply locker.
You could just remove bonk completely and rub it off as a fucking stupid idea just like they did with the back burner.
You could just remove bonk completely and rub it off as a fucking stupid idea just like they did with the back burner.
yeah i remember when they removed the backburner wait
I'm actually getting some pretty heavy use out of bonk lately. If you co-ordinate with a pyro, no sentry can bar your passage. I've helped down 4 sentries in a life, though the game doesn't credit you, people get pissed at the steamroll.
Give him a FaN and you have yourself a hit and run, distraction, elmination and mobility scout.
I can do all that with the normal loadout to be honest. The only thing I can't distract as a normal loadout Scout is sentries, but hell, there's a hell of a lot of ways to deal with sentries as is.
It really doesn't need a buff.
It really doesn't need a buff.
I just think it's kind of ridiculous for you to be knocked back by bullets you've supposedly dodged. And besides, it's hard to justify losing your pistol for Bonk, most times.
If it could just add that there's no knockback at all, even from sentry guns, I'll take it.
If by "buff" you mean 'make a hell of a lot more complex and unlikable', then yes.
